Let me preface this by saying a few things. First, I'm a bit of a menswear nut. I know more about the different types of construction on the lining of a suit coat than I care to admit. Second, I work in an industry where I have to wear a suit and tie most days. Third, I find it extremely difficult to find things that fit, as I have a very slim build. All that being said, Roberto Castelli, the namesake of Castelli Fashions, has managed to far exceed my expectations. I went and visited Roberto shortly after he opened his Santa Cruz shop last year--he previously had a similar store in San Jose. I was looking for a suit, but had effectively consigned myself at that point to having to buy made-to-measure or go with a cheap option and tailor it, as everything I'd tried so far was too expensive or didn't come anywhere close to fitting. Within thirty seconds of my walking in and beginning to talk to him about purchasing a suit, he had offered me coffee, tea, wine, or moscato, enthusiastically engaged me in a conversation about European soccer, determined my size by eye alone, and pulled a jacket off its hanger for me. It fit perfectly in the shoulders, something I almost never experience. I couldn't purchase anything from him at the time, unfortunately. When I walked back in with an eye towards purchasing a couple months later, he remembered both my name and size, offered me something to drink, and started pulling suits down. The suits Roberto offers range from the quality you'd find at Macy's for far, far less than what Macy's charges up to what I purchased--Super 150's wool, which almost feels like cashmere and is known for being incredibly durable and breathable. These will normally run around $2000, but Roberto sells them for significantly less than $1000. I was only going to purchase one at the time. When I expressed disappointment that's all I could afford, Roberto made me a deal which allowed me to purchase two for less than I would normally pay for one at retail. Oh, and he threw two ties in to boot. He did the (considerable) alterations I requested free of charge, and marked and pinned the jacket himself. In the end, I effectively got two made-to-measure suits. I recently returned to purchase another one. They fit as well as I could have possibly hoped, are exceptionally high quality, and come with absolutely superb customer service. I recently went back to get another one. In short, if you want friendly, knowledgeable, high-quality service for men's formalwear of any sort and want to get an absolute steal of a deal, Castelli Fashions should be where you go. read more

Just recently I needed to purchase a suit for my daughter's Quinceanera. I don't usually wear suits and it's probably been 22 years since I'd last worn one so I didn't know anything about what I needed. My fiance and I went shopping at a local shop and we decided to check out Castelli Fashions and were certainly glad we did. The owner Roberto was just amazing. He was kind, pleasant, enjoys people and knows his stuff. Roberto took my measurements, suggested some different styles and colors and really took his time to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. He also was very generous offering my fiance, my daughter and me sparkling water and some Italian goodies. When I went to pick up my suit Roberto had me try it on and it fit perfectly! Every part of it was fit exactly to my body and looked amazing. He even pressed my shirt while I waited. At the party I received so many compliments on my suit. I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for a great suit. You really couldn't ask for a better owner who's knowledgeable, gets the measurements right the first time, offers free alterations if needed (although I didn't), is always happy to see you, is competitively priced and really goes the extra mile for his customers. read more

Felt compelled to write a review because of the superb service and great experience I had buying a suit. I've never bought a suit and was intimidated by the prices I had seen at. Various stores until I stumbled upon Castellis from a small sign off of 41st ave. I walked in and he offered me espresso and was very friendly. He started educating me on suit design and quality and I told him what I needed it for and he fitted me the perfect suit and shoes all for $300! Roberto is a prince. Quick, efficient and precise with alterations. He has a sense of style with suits and fabrics. The small store has a limited selection of materials and samples on hand but he can order from a much broader array. Go talk with this guy. He's an old school tailor specializing in personalized service at reasonable prices. We went to Castelli Fashion's to help shop for Tuxedo's for a good friend of mine who's son was getting married. Roberto was so kind and friendly. He made us a cappuccino and he took great care of us. We feel as though Castelli Fashions was much higher quality than Men's Wearhouse and for a better price. He was able to fit all groomsmen in a timely manner and Roberto even traveled to Morgan Hill to help everyone get ready the morning of the Wedding..now that's 5 Star Service.
