Sweet white curly haired sweetheart with red bandanna and red and white bow comfortably placed on head. Cutie pie walked in and allowed me to pet her and then walked back to her bed. I wasn't nervous but I love dogs and loved Yuki who is the fur baby of other dentist. I highly recommend this practice and Dr Herman and the two expert dental assistants who have helped me: Selena and Kathy. I really enjoyed Yuki Therapy Dog !!! Thank you. Although the dentists in the South Austin office are top-notch, they influence the office staff, and I am not too happy about that office. It seems that overcharging patients is normal here. In addition to the 3% for services billed using a patient's credit card, surprise bills are also possible. My health insurance often informs me before About Smiles does. Tiggy charged my card. I specifically asked her if I could alter my payment if I came back in soon. Yes, I was given that option. I returned later with a plan to use a debit card with NO 3% upcharge. Tiggy was busy so Peggy took my second transaction, I asked her if it was difficult, and she replied it was. BooHoo--BTW, Peggy seems like a candidate who does not work with patients much or at all. I apologized to Peggy. I WAS given the option to pay in another form, So I was there to pay with a debit card. Peggy billed the services as credit! Not as debit. Excuse me!! Here I follow the clinic instructions and am still out $23.00!!! I need the money, honey. I am not freely giving About Smiles one. more. cent. I am finished with About Smiles. This place instills fear in patients with unethical money grab practices and pressuring patients for same day procedures. I came here after getting on a new insurance and could no longer go to my old dentist as he was out of network. Reviews were overall good for this place so I figured I'd give it a try. I was having no oral pain or discomfort, just knew I was overdue for a cleaning. I was told I had multiple cavities and stage 3 gum disease. The way I was told about the gum disease was extremely bizarre. After the examination, the dentist showed me a chart with the stages of gum disease and images for each. She asked me where I thought I fell on the chart. I guessed one of the lower options and she then decided to tell me I had stage 3 gum disease (on the higher end of the spectrum). I was so caught off guard by the approach and immediately felt extremely uncomfortable by the way that was shared with me. They pushed for me to get treatments same day but I knew I needed to GTFO. I got a second opinion from another dentist and he was shocked at the approach and alleged work I needed done/ disease diagnosis. My new dentist says I just need a good cleaning. I'm really glad I went with my gut and didn't let them pressure me into getting work done that day. Get a second opinion before consenting to any work!

Southpark Meadows Dental listened to my concerns, took multiple x-rays, took photos and tested my area of concern. They found I had a tooth (the one I thought) cracked in FOUR PLACES! We looked at the options. They explained everything to me including costs and timing and we installed a temporary crown that day as well as scheduled my root canal and permanent crown. Dr. Joshua was patient, kind and truly cares about taking care of you! I highly recommend

If you've read my…read moreother reviews you'll know I had a poor experience at another dentist for the replacement of an onlay which turned into a crown nightmare. I swapped to the practice after having them adjust the bad crown and when I came in for the semi annual cleaning Dr, Shvets saw an issue on the xray for that bad crown. Which means, new crown. Now this sucked as we all know dental insurance is a freaking joke. Restorative work can only be done once every 5 years and well, the first crown cost about $800 and this one was gonna run close to $2k! The practice gave me a discount due to the initial crown being placed just five months prior. This practice is no longer part of my insurance however, they submit the forms for you which is a life saver. After scheduling the appointment to have the crown replaced, everything went smoothly. Sad that the temporary crown felt better then the old crown and the new crown is much better. Due to not having the original tooth the new crown isn't as close of a match as I'd like but lesson learned about going to someone who is passionate about reconstruction of teeth. I went back to get it adjusted as there was issues flossing where Dr Shvets spent at least 45 min trying to get off along with looping in a few colleagues. Talk about wanting things right! He also adjusted the bite which made a world of difference. They also offered a six year 'insurance' for the crown in case it needs repair. So good news, I'll have two back ups for any issues as I'll be hitting the initial 5 years in Jan 2027. lol They are great at sending reminders and pretty on time for appointments. I just chose a random office online that was close to my house and ended choosing the best. I forgot my dentists name, but he's a man with an accent and long hair (lol) he is sooo amazing, attentive and thorough. Our teeth look and feel great. Scheduling was very easy, even when we wanted "back to back" appointments together. Our differing prices were both a reflection of that they don't have a "one size fits all" approach to their patients, but also reflected an appropriate/fair scale in pricing relative to our needs. There was no "hard sell" on committing to, or scheduling, any of the additional work recommended. Just a simple printed quote we could reference in the future. The same for the "discount/club pricing" you would get for signing up with their office, which I declined, but my husband joined. Just the information made available quickly and clearly, and then you were free to move on. Everyone was SO friendly. I'm mad I didn't remember to write this review same day, so I could share specific names, but truly everyone was polite and pleasant to a degree that I can't imagine anyone working here isn't equally nice. My aim here is not to tell you I have had the best teeth cleaning (I did) or Dr. Evans did a fantastic job of "drill 'em, fill 'em" (he does) but what I attest is above and beyond and of paramount importance to us all - a matter of trust. I suddenly had two serious dental issues needing special treatment and care. During my consult with Dr. Evans we discussed every minute detail of what treatment options to consider, what to expect, and how this all could affect my future well-being. I remained cynical but It wasn't until the first steps were completed that my anxieties were calmed. I knew then the care Dr. Evans outlined would be the absolute best. And it is.
