They made everything feel easy and welcoming from the moment I walked in. I originally came in that morning for an Invisalign consultation and they recommended removing my wisdom teeth beforehand. I was honestly really scared and unsure at first, but later that day I decided to go through with it and they were able to fit me in the same day. Kyla and Dr. Yuen made me feel so comfortable and at ease. The procedure went by so quickly and I felt no pain, which really surprised me. They were very reassuring the whole time. Carlos also helped me earlier that morning with fixing my mouth guard and he was super informative and patient. Everyone there is so kind hearted and caring. I had a recent bad experience with this dental office, with less integrity. Multiple incidents occurred. I went to this office for a secondary opinion about my recent tooth filling done by my regular dentist. when I called to make appointment with the advantage dental, I was told that there would be another call from them if there was a cost after checking my insurance. No call. Then before the visit, I texted the office about the possible cost, no response. When I was in the office, the staff did not say anything until I was brought to a patient room, just beginning of the consultation, a staff came to tell me that we just found out your insurance would not cover today's visit, the cost would be $413. Of course I was not happy about this " late information ", telling the staff I would leave without the consultation. Then the staff said the cost would be $148 to keep me staying. After examining my teeth, the dentist Matthew Yuen said he knew that a filling job will be needed to redo on the tooth I concerned. He offered to do the procedure by himself, but I declined. He promised ( said three times) to give me a diagnosis note not later than the evening. I believed in him and paid the fee. On the following day, I messaged to the office to remind them about I have not received the note yet. No response from them for many days until I asked my credit card to withhold the payment. Only this time the dentist sent me the diagnosis note. Apparently Dr. Yuen did not feel he needed to provide a full service of the consultation after I chose not to do the tooth filling by himself. read more

I had been a patient of Dr Yuen since they opened many years ago. They do good work and have the latest technology. The hygenists and Dr Yuen are well qualified...no compliants. I have referred others to them. I dropped them because i found the front deck people to be rude and pushy. Even though i was an established patient and always paid the day of service, they insisted on $800 for that days cleaning when i came in for my appointment, before they would work on me. $200 for the cleaning and $600 for Xrays. I said i wanted to wait on the X-Rays..she said they were manadatory. And she was snotty.. Then i said I'd pass on the cleaning. She seemed to care less. They have been bugging me for a cancelation charge, which i will never pay..i was the one who wasted a morning too. I am disappoiinted that we parted ways, but we all have options. I gave a 3 rating because half of the operation is great and half is terrible. read more

I've had a mixed but ultimately positive experience at CV Advantage Dental. When I first started coming here, I had some frustrating experiences with the front desk--communication and organization weren't always smooth. However, I'm happy to say that the dental team itself has always been excellent. The dentists (Dr. Yuen) and assistants are professional, knowledgeable, and make me feel well cared for at every visit. More recently, the front office staff has changed, and I've noticed a definite improvement. The new team is courteous and doing a good job so far--of course, there's a learning curve with any new staff, but I appreciate their effort and willingness to improve. Dr. Mathew Yuen has given me excellent care along with his dental team! I couldn't be happier to have found him! He is very personable and takes the time to not only explain exactly what work needs to be done, but he also shows you on your x-rays/digital images! He also has high tech equipment which allows him to make your permanent crown in the office while you wait so you don't have to return for another appointment plus have to be uncomfortable with a temporary crown for two weeks! Also, he will take the time to answer any questions you might have about your dental work that he is recommending! In addition, it's very impressive that he has hired the nicest and most qualified dental assistants, hygienists, account, manager and receptionist. Also, in regards to your billing, you will never have to worry because it's all explained to you prior to the work that has to be done for you, what your cost will be, and how much your insurance will pay, so there are no surprises! I felt very well taken care of by both Dr. Yuen and his staff. During both my appointments to assess and then fix a serious cavity, I had the pleasure of meeting Carlos. He was such a sweetheart and kept me calm throughout the whole process. He also listened to my concerns and explained whatever questions I had without making me feel judged or foolish. The other staff members were just as kind and seemed to focus on making a comfortable environment for their patients. Dr. Yuen is an example of a dentist who is compassionate about his work and patients. I am very grateful I was recommended this place after struggling to find a new dentist! Scheduling/setting up for my appointment was super easy - you can see the availability online. They sent me some forms before the appointment which made the process super fast! I arrived a couple minutes before my appointment and was taken in right on time. Lucy helped me with my x-rays and scans, as well as my teeth cleaning. She was super friendly, funny, and made me feel very comfortable! My teeth feel super clean now, and she gave me so many useful recommendations like how to clean my Invisalign and how to floss better! Dr. Yuen is only interested in making as much as possible off each patient. He installed a crown on me that was done within minutes by machine that does not fit. It cannot be redone now because extra tooth would have to be removed. Food get caught in the ill fitting crown and it is not seated properly in the mouth. He is charming but incompetent. If they try to send you a bill over a year ago, make sure to not pay it. It shouldn't have taken them that long to sort things out. By CA law, you do not need to pay for any services over a year old. Dr. Yuen and this team are the best in the bay. He provides excellent service, and he is kind and respectful of all his patients, regardless of the conditions of their teeth. I got Invisalign treatment done at Castro Valley Advantage Dental, since I'm a college student, I need to save some money. He was $1000 cheaper than nearby dentists, orthodontists, and dental schools. Castro Valley Advantage Dental also offers in-office payment plans with no interest if you can't qualify for a 3rd party payment plans such as Sunbit, which I haven't seen at any general dentist's office. In-office payment plans are mostly offered at the expensive orthodontist offices, this is good for anyone on a budget or who doesn't have great established credit yet. So I would recommend anyone looking for Invisalign to check with Dr. Yuen first, if he can't help you, then see an orthodontist. read more

My dentist retired a couple of months ago and I woke up at around 3am, Saturday with a massive toothache. I called the dental office took a chance even if I know they are probably close and lucky got a hold of Doctor Yuen, as he was the on call doctor of the day. I explained to him my situation and instead of brushing me off, he told me that he will try to check if he can see me that day and he actually did! I couldn't believe it! He came in with Anali his dental assistant and they made me feel reassured about everything. They answered all my questions, really listened to my concerns ( I have anxiety and low pain tolerance) about pain and Anali (God bless her) offered her hand for me to squeeze and hold to help me get through the anesthesia injections which is not at all bad I swear. I opted to get the nitrous oxide because of my anxiety, and they got everything set up quickly. Dr Yuen made sure that I am pretty numbed, and I really appreciated that he really listened and cared for me not to feel any pain. The actual extraction was probably less than 5 minutes, and it was truly painless, I was already up and about like nothing happened in the evening. Dr Yuen explained how to do the after care and called me on Monday to see how was I doing. If you want a place that makes you feel welcome and really cares about your dental health I would highly recommend Dr Yuen and his team. read more

Do not trust the upfront price they give you. We recently paid for a crown with insurance covering 50% and we paid 50%. We agreed to the amount that was quoted and received services then after the services we received another bill saying we owe more. The codes for services were changed after the service was performed and the dentist's office said that because of the code change they can charge us more! I was recommended to see Dr. Matthew Yuen by a very close friend of mine who was familiar with his work and found him to be credible in the field of Dentistry. My father had been suffering from tooth pain for quite some time and was looking for a second opinion on what he should do and how he should plan for the future. Dr. Yuen and his staff were very kind and welcoming from the moment we walked through their door. All the staff greeted us immediately as we entered, and then a few minutes after checking in, we were invited to the back to get started. One of his Dental Hygienists, Kayla, was very kind and consistently made sure my father felt comfortable by asking him, "Mr. Malik, are doing alright still? Do you need a break?". They went on to conduct multiple scans and images of my father's teeth but did it all in an efficient and respectful manner. I was pleasantly surprised by their bedside manners, and how clean and sanitized the office was. By the end of our appointment, we were provided with what we could expect next, guided to the front office to exit, and were wished well by everyone as our appointment came to a close. This was by far one of the best experiences one could imagine at a dental office. Everyone was kind, efficient, and intelligent, especially Dr. Yuen himself. Such a positive experience! I needed dental work done quickly before a surgery coming up. I also recently chipped two of my upper front teeth. Dr. Yuen understood the urgency and was able to complete all work in one afternoon. He and his staff that day who worked with me-Stephanie, Kyla, and Analie were so kind about my fears, they heard my concerns.
