Had an "overdue balance" of $136 billed from a replacement filling. Dentist told me that the replacement would be of no charge to me because his initial screw-up was the reason it needed to be replaced. After confirming with the office multiple times that the $136 balance was improperly added and would be erased, 2 years later, the office is threatening to sell my "overdue balance" to credit agencies which could massively defect my credit score. I paid the sum to avoid the harsh result, but I will not be returning to CDD. read more

Was a patient with Creative Dimensions for 20+ years-no longer. Due to their not accepting Delta Dental any longer, I was required to pre-pay dental work PRIOR to any procedure, then Delta Dental reimburses me directly for whatever they covered. MONTHS after replacing an upper bridge (at the cost of thousands of dollars), I received a bill which read "Insurance reimbursement" for almost $600. I responded to multiple payment requests via their portal online requesting more info as to what the charge represented, but ZERO replies. Today I got yet another email and called to get it straightened out. They could not explain to me why I was being charged since I pay in FULL PRIOR to a procedure, just kept saying it had to do with Delta Dental, which it DID NOT. I was put on hold and was told that it was for something they had neglected to add to the original invoice-which I had already paid in full. Ridiculous. i'll be looking for a new dentist. I have been a patient at Creative Dimensions for 10+ years and have paid over $10,000 for care there, not including insurance payments. This morning I arrived for my second hygienist appointment of the year, normally a free service through Delta Dental. I was informed by the receptionist that changes had been made in the practice, my insurance was no longer accepted and I was to pay $347 up front, for this service. This surprise information being delivered after the office rescheduled my visit 3 times, never mentioning to me the new policy, blindsided me!! Absolutely no excuse for not notifying me in advance. I believe this was deliberate, hoping I would use credit or pay, something as a senior retiree on a budget, I could not do. Outrageous manipulation and deceptive business practice. I have been a patient for 8 years and I used to see Dr. Erickson who was wonderful, unfortunately he is no longer with this practice. Since he left it's gone downhill. At my last cleaning appointment without any warning about them no longer taking Delta Dental I was told I had to pay $350 up front. It took Delta 3 months to reimburse me because the office messed up submitting my claim and when I was paid out it wasn't 100%. They made this switch without calling or emailing me and it felt very unprofessional to not disclose that information prior to me arriving at the office. While the staff has changed over time and Dr. China is new to me, he has been nothing but transparent and extremely gentle when performing additional work in my mouth. If I can give a zero review I would for this office. I had two appointments scheduled and when confirming if they accepted my insurance they never mentioned that they are no longer contracted and I was responsible to pay my portion at the time of visit. It's the lack of communication from this office that is horrible and so unprofessional I specifically called and asked the receptionist to look up my insurance to make sure they are contracted when I booked my two appointments in December 2024. The receptionist should had told me then that I would have to pay almost $700 at the time of visit and then I get reimbursed from my insurance, being that they have not been contracted since May 2024. Manager Ann Marie was unavailable to speak with to let her know that her staff needs to be trained to give patients an update if they are contracted or not when booking an appt. Sending emails and letters to patients is fine, but I specifically had them check and they never mentioned not being contracted anymore. so Frustrating when I had to leave work early to get my son from school, for our appts and really expect for someone to pay $700 and wait to receive a check in the mail. My family has been loyal patients for 20 years at CDD and this used to be one of the best Dental Offices in Castro Valley until it was sold to a corporation that hired substandard dentists. I went in there last year to have a cavity filled. They did the work, told me that they would submit the bill to the insurance company, and I would be reimbursed directly for the full amount that I paid out of pocket. Total lie! It was no where close to what they charged. And when they did pay for the services they paid the doctor directly. It took my dad 2 months and multiple trips to the office, and getting irate and making a scene, to get the office to forward the payment to me. We obviously changed offices, The new office took X-rays and we were informed that the cavity that was supposedly fixed was NOT FIXED and needed to be redone. Unfortunately, dental insurance will not cover a re-fix until 2 years have passed, which by that time if I waited I would most likely need a root canal. I tried to wait it out but the cavity was giving me trouble so we have had to pay out of pocket completely for this offices incompetence. I'm sure the office will respond to this review and make up some excuse. I sincerely hope they have improved their practices. I will be filing a complaint with the insurance company for the substandard work and hopefully they will make the dentist cover the cost of the work. read more

I've been a patient at Creative Dimensions for about 30 years, I love Dr. Chhina, but today's experience prompted me to write this complaint. I was scheduled for dental cleaning, I arrived on time, and was told I have to pay for xrays as well, today. I told receptionists, I do not have insurance and only have money for scheduled dental cleaning today. I was denied that care. I was told, their protocol is, I have to accept and pay for xrays today or they CANNOT do dental cleaning for me, as scheduled, today, so I had to leave, without preventive care, that I was scheduled for. I think this inflexibility is not good customer service. Protocols should be adjusted to clients and situation. I should not be forced to pay for services that are not necessary at that time (in future, when I have treatment done or scheduled, xrays are necessary then) or be denied services for which I was scheduled, if I cannot afford to pay additional services forced on me. I am very disappointment with how they handled this situation and I will not be returning to that practice. read more

I am a 76 year old man who has always been riddled with anxiety going to the dentist-even Nitrous Oxide would not relieve my anxiety. After being referred to Dr. Jeffrey Erickson, at Creative Dimensions in Dentistry, I can finally go to the dentist stress free, due to his "sleep sedation". For me, it is miraculous! I literally slept thru having a tooth prepared for a new crown.crown. My second appointment involved have a molar extracted. I was fully was awake and completely stress free. No anxiety what so ever. My only regret is not have been referred to Dr. Erickson sooner. He and his staff are exceptional! Professional, caring and very responsive to anxiety issues. Update: A minor update as a response to the owner's comment. Yes, for the most part it went ok except the sensitivity that lasted over a year. I was told it could last 3-4 months but it didn't. You mentioned you were sorry "I felt" I was over charged, but in fact I "was over charged", otherwise there would be no reason to have received a refund check from your office. Original review: This is a review for work done several years ago. I am not sure if the denist I saw is still at the Castro Valley office, and unfortuantely I don't remember his name. I went to this office from seeing the commericals at the time and I had just moved to the area. I go and see the denist at the time and after an examination he said I needed a crown on one of my tooth. He quoted me a price that seemed extremely high. I reluctanly agree to the price and the proceedure. The day of the procedure all this denist did was give me the novocain and drill off the portion of my tooth that will be replaced. His assistant did ALL the rest of work. Prepping the tooth, taking a mold of my tooth, helping me decide what color I would like the crown to be to match my other teeth, install the tooth, making sure the novocaine too effect and various other stuff needed for a crown. I only saw the actual denist for maybe 15 or 20 minutes for the appointment, consult, procedure and any follow-up appointments. As I said before the assistant did all the work. For the most part the tooth is fixed. Come about a year later I get a check from their office. I'm thinking why am I getting a check from them. It was quite a bit so my guess was right, the cost of the procedure quoted by the denist was more than it should have been. Then that brings up the question why was I quoted such a high price? My only conclusion was either: a. He thought I had money to burn, or b. he quoted a higher price becasue he didn't really like me and wanted to discourge me from using him. My guess is on the latter from the fact I hardly saw him and that's the reason I hardly saw him. If this was just a review of the dental assistant it would have been 4.5 stars. But it isn't. After this, I will not go to this denist office or its San Leandro office because I was over charged. read more

Dr. Elie is the best!! I have a horrible fear of going to the dentist and having work done on my teeth. Dr. Elie has been so kind and really takes his time perfecting your teeth. I personally have had dentists in the past who don't use great numbing shots, my past dentist bought the cheap stuff whilst charging full price and I was never fully numb. Here at creative dimensions dentistry I can say it's always pain free! The numbing shots they use barely hurt and gets my mouth so numb I can't feel a thing! I am so disappointed with this office. I have been a patient for years and spent over $20K the last 2 years. I had a dental emergency on Sunday. I called and left a message to be seen on Monday. On Monday I called at 7 and hit the emergency button and the gal said call back at 8 when they open. My whole right side of my face from my eye to my chin blew up in 3 hours. When I got no response, I had to go to the ER AT Kaiser to get antibiotics and pain killers as my pain was at 9.5 out of 10. I started calling at 8:00 Monday as directed by the so called emergency line. 8:15, 8:30 and left 3 urgent emergency messages. Finally, got into my car with my eye nearly swollen shut to drive to the office in Castro valley. It was CLOSED. Then I drove to San Leandro office CLOSED! No out going message to inform anyone it was closed. Now what am I supposed to do!? Fortunately for me a friend recommended another office. I called and was immediately added to the schedule before noon. The dentist was worried I could lose my vision due to the level of swelling on the right side of my face. He found a cracked root and broken pin from an old root canal. He was so worried he told me if it got worse over night, in the slightest bit, to go to the ER and get IV antibiotics. It didn't get worse that night but the this morning i couldn't smile and looked like I'd had a stroke I was so droopy. As I was up right and walking around, the swelling finally started to subside. I saw the dentist again today and he said that since the antibiotics were working we would wait until Friday to pull it once the swelling has subsided. Had Creative Dimensions office even bothered to call to check on me or schedule me in I wouldn't have written this review. But it's been 2 whole days and I have not heard one word from this office. So they are now fired and I am sticking with my new dentist who happens to be open 7 days a week. read more

This is my second time going to Dr.Chhina. Kris my hygienist is always amazing ! She's so knowledgeable and makes your cleaning go by so fast. This time I had to have the dreaded dun dun dun root canal. Let me tell you it is not at all painful!!! The worst part of the whole procedure was keeping my mouth open the whole time. Made my jaw sore but I felt no pain. Dr.Chhina cheers you on the whole way through your procedure and keeps you informed every step of the wa. The dental assistant Michelle was fabulous. I will never go to another dentist again. These people are so welcoming and nice. I have never felt so good to come get my teeth drilled on! Everyone makes you feel so welcomed and happy like part of their little dentist family! They have the best attitude and are amazing at what they do. So far I have had my teeth cleaned, X-rays, and several cavities filled. They have completely transformed my teeth and made me feel at ease the entire experience when I was originally very nervous in the beginning. I never knew my teeth could look so good. From the very first day I came in I had explained to a nice young lady I was kind of in a hurry because I was on my lunch break from work, they were extremely busy but the nice lady made SURE I was in there on time and out before my lunch break was over! Amazing! The next lady I dealt with was the lady who did my teeth cleaning, her and her beautiful assistant went out of their way to print me out something for my nose to help me breathe better out of my nose because it's bad for my teeth being the mouth breather that I am. They were also very nice and made sure I had no pain while the cleaning was taking place. Just now I came in for a cavity filling and I was taking a selfie and the same beautiful assistant that printed out the thing for my nose breathing came over to take a selfie with me! I mean how cute is that?! Then I go over to pay for my cavity filling and they gave me a discount for absolutely no reason! I mean how can you possibly get a better dentist then this place ?! My experiences at this dentist were not bad, the reason for the review is that I just discovered I was "fired" by the dentist office because I was late paying a small portion of my bill that was not covered by my insurance. So I was "dismissed" by this dentists office even though the bill was paid. And mind you, this due amount was less than 10% of my overall bill, which had been paid promptly. The office claims I was informed of the "dismissal" so when I called today to request an appointment for a cap that has come off my tooth it was pretty humiliating to get the "dismissal" message from the office person. I get that money is important, especially to dentists apparently, but this seemed unnecessarily punitive, not to mention that I now have to find someone to fix my immediate problem. Should I "reveal" that I am a "bad patient"?? Am I stigmatized for life? This is the Castro Valley branch of the CDD that is in San Leandro on Estudillo- much of the staff split their time between the 2 offices, so for more reviews check out the yelp page for the San Leandro location. So first off I have been going to CDD for over 10 years and before the fabulous Dr. Jeff Erickson took over the practice for his Dad I went to his Dad Dr. Mike Erickson. Dr. Mike was amazing, the most gentle and kind man and dentist that you could ask for. Always smiling and great quality work. Now a few years back when Dr. Mike retired I was reluctant to like his son, and there is definitely a difference in their styles, but Dr. Jeff is an excellent dentist and once he gains more experience he will be on the same level that his Dad was at. But enough about the history of the place, let me get down to specifics.... Hours/Availability: they will get you in for an emergency, but for a regular appointment you need to call in advance- they are popular which is a good sign but you also need to plan for it. They start appointments at 7am I believe, so you can go in early before work if needed. Office Staff/Hygenists: Wonderful!!! Really competent office manager that is efficient and friendly. Always have a great experience with cleanings and the dental assistants in the office. Environment: Clean office, not super fancy as some I've been in, but all the high tech gadgets digital x-rays, small camera to see inside mouth, voice recognition software to register information about teeth, flat screen monitors and high tech lasers for drilling/composites. Cost: Overall I think cost of dental care has greatly increased over the last few years and as I have been without insurance for several of those, I think I have had sticker shock. CDD is no worse than others but good dental care is costly. Also they only take Delta Dental insurance, which is why I now had to find a new dentist that would accept my new insurance plan. I liked CDD so much that after going there once, I got my entire family to change over to the practice. Overall CDD and particularily Dr. Jeff is a friendly, competent and gentle dentist with an excellent staff. But if you do have insurance other than Delta Dental you may need to find another place to go. read more
