We went for a tongue tie consultation for our bottle-fed 6-month old who has been "snacking" instead of drinking large meals. What we got was a sales pitch for same-day lip tie and tongue tie surgeries. I didn't think that the doctor really listened or cared about the details of our or our child's experience. He took a couple photos and talked a lot. He threw around lots of unfamiliar medical terms and then gave patronizing analogies to explain the conclusion we should be coming to. The facility was clean and the people were friendly, but you should only come here if you've already decided to have the procedure done. It's hard to know who to trust because I've read online that lactation consultants get a kickback for referring patients to get this procedure (I cannot confirm myself). As feedback for the office, I would suggest sending something more professional than the buzzfeed style "55 reasons to get this surgery" blog post ahead of the initial visit; this was a red flag for me. You can also consider a more consultative approach but you might make less money. read more

This people have no respect for your time! I have been bringing my older child to this place for a few years, today I had an appointment for my youngest. Arrived before the scheduled time, they had the assistant check us in, the doctor started taking care of two patients when it was supposed to be our scheduled time. 35min past the doctor goes on to take care of another patient who even arrived after we did. And, the assistant comes to say " you can keep playing with the baby outside, the doctor will take a few more minutes..." I don't go to an appointment to "play" with my child in the waiting area, I can do that at home or at better places. Please show some respect for people's time. read more

This place is AMAZING! From the moment I entered with my 12 and 13 year old sons, we were greeted by friendly staff and made to feel comfortable and welcome. My kids saw Dr. Esmaili and she was FANTASTIC!!! She came into the lobby and introduced herself and explained what she was going to do and what my kids could expect. She answered all my questions and was incredibly sweet, professional and super knowledgeable. My kids loved her and she eased their anxieties and answered all of their questions. Dr Yazdi provided excellent care, and is from my experience the expert in his area here in the Bay Area - my daughter had a severe tongue tie release and all therapists and OTs referred me to him, after 2 releases done by pediatrician and also ENT doctor. I wanted to look for a pediatric dentist as opposed to a regular dentist because I know my toddler is going to fuss and cry. I wanted a dentist with experience dealing with the extremely fussy baby. My toddler was getting to the point where she wanted to scream bloody murder, so Dr Rob allowed her to sit on my lap through her checkup. She didn't have to sit on the scary dentist chair. Although, the dentist chair wasn't that scary since there was a TV with cartoons over their head. My daughter is used to stepping into the doctors office and crying immediately. This is the 2nd time I went to Dr. Yazdi. Great experience once again. I was concerned with my 5 month old lip and tongue tie, since he did my sons 2 years ago. Even better experience this time around. He again explained if we should get the treatment I trusted his advice and it was the best decision we could make for our little babies. The treatment was quick and painless. They numbed the area, it was done in like 2 mins she came back and wasn't even crying! Nursed her right away and already felt a change. Early in June 2023 we were told to have our LO checked for tongue tie. We contacted Dr Yazdi's office. I am extremely concerned about making sure procedures are covered by insurance, so I covered this topic on the first phone call. Do you accept MetLife insurance? Yes, they said, but I have to check the procedure codes. So I called MetLife and I confirmed everything. It should all be covered. They also let me know that if my son didn't appear under insurance by the day of the procedure then I would have to first pay out of pocket. OK! As he was just born, it takes a few days for him to appear under insurance. We went in, we chose to have the procedure done. We agreed to pay out of pocket as he didn't yet appear under insurance and confirmed with them that once insurance pays we will get refunded. My son appeared under insurance the next day and his coverage started from the day he was born. MetLife paid them. Now they are telling us that they are not bound by MetLife's negotiated rates and that we will not get refunded the bulk of what we paid! We are out over $1100. I should've been more cautious. I trust people at their word. Over and over they said they accept MetLife. At every turn it was clear that only insurance would be billed, except for copay and deductible. But since we already paid, we get told another story. Even Dr Yazdi gave us a spiel about insurance telling us he needed more details to help make sure insurance covers the procedure. That it's worse for him because he gets paid less. What BS. From the beginning, they knew what they were doing. They never intended to refund our money. Came here a 2nd time but for but for my toddlers first dental exam and cleaning at 2 years old. The waiting area has a little kid play structure. The staff and dentist were very nice, funny, and super patient. My toddler is super dramatic and cries for anything, so of course, this was no exception. The visit was quick and painless. In the end, she was given a sticker, baby dental hygiene supplies, and a token to go to their game room to get a bouncy ball, which made her forget about having her teeth cleaned. We don't have dental insurance, so our pay per service was only $170. We're not local. We drive 45 mins to come here, and it's definitely worth it. I just had the first appointment for my 2 year old triplets. I got the week wrong (was supposed to be next Tuesday), and they still accommodated us and saw us all today! Not only are the receptionists fantastic, but the hygienists and dentists were also great. Super gentle, patient, and understanding with my boys. Gave great tips for brushing and flossing, and we all went home with no cavities or tears. Love that they have a little play area in the lobby and tokens for the arcade when you leave. My baby was referred to Dr. Yazdi for a consultation to check for possible lip and tongue ties. Dr. Yazdi came highly recommended by our wonderful chiropractor Dr. Janna Hansen and our pediatrician. The office is modern and clean. The staff is friendly and timely. Dr. Yazdi is very personable and takes the time to explain his diagnosis and what he suggests. He is a fast talker so you have to keep an extra focus. We proceeded with the recommended procedure of frenectomy, where they laser cut the ties. They provided us with a manual about recovery and were very thorough. My recommendation if you go for the consultation is that you bring what you need in case you decide to move forward with the procedure such as Tylenol or Motrin for your little one. They also recommend oral Arnica. What I especially appreciated about Dr. Yazdi was that he provided us with his cell phone should we have any questions and made himself available any time. The process of recovery is painful to go through as you have to touch the wound every 4-6 hours for 5 weeks but watching my little one breastfeed with more ease made it worth it. read more

I almost had a similar situation with Nachum K. They also sent me a surprise bill after 2 years of the service date. I checked with the front desk and was told my insurance is within the network, then I brought my daughter to there and had the regular cleaning service. The surprise bill came in after 2 years for $250.00. My insurance already paid them and they never send me any detailed information what is about the $250.00. They just told me to check with my insurance. I will never go back and do not recommend my friends go there because of the poor billing system and the unclear cost of service. read more

Awesome pediatric dentistry! Through the recommendation of my mother, who was referred there by her dentistry, Floresta Dental, I scheduled my 3 yr old's first dental appt here. She was having a bit of pain in her mouth and though we're in the middle of a move out of the area, I wanted to have her seen right away. From the first point of contact and all the way through, our experience has far exceeded my expectations. Didn't have to wait forever for an appointment, great service with friendly staff, both the dentist (Dr. Franklin) and the assistants were amazing with my daughter. They even had a little game room that the kids receive a token for after their appt. My daughter loved her time there and talked about it after we left and can't wait to go back. I brought in my 2 month old daughter to assess her lip and tongue tie, as I was having severe pain and clogged ducts while breastfeeding. There were also obvious signs on my daughter such as blisters on her lips. I was worried not only about my breastfeeding journey but also the effect the ties could have on her future feeding, speech, and teeth development. The lactation consultants through my insurance (Kaiser) kept insisting her tongue tie was very small, and even said Kaiser doesn't even deal with lip ties. Dr. Yazdi was quick, professional, and also very friendly. We went ahead with cutting both ties as well as the buccal ties (which they do not charge for). Upon nursing right after, I was amazed to feel almost no pain, even though Dr. Yazdi had warned that due to her being a bit older, the frenectomy may have a small chance of not being effective or take longer to notice. I have ZERO regrets bringing my daughter here, except that I wish I had not hesitated before bringing her! I will for sure bring my future children to Dr. Yazdi and am so appreciative to have someone with his expertise close by! read more

I had an unpleasant experience with Dr. Yazdi, and I wouldn't recommend him if you're looking for a pediatric dentist to evaluate your baby's tongue tie. To provide a quick(ish) summary: My newborn was losing weight, and I was desperate to do anything that would help him breast- and/or bottle-feed more successfully. My lactation consultant concluded that my babe had a tongue tie and suggested I see Dr. Yazdi. I scheduled an appointment (which wasn't easy, given Dr. Yazdi's cumbersome online new patient portal) and made the drive to Castro Valley. An assistant took us into a room, and I provided her all the relevant background info. Dr. Yazdi then joined us, and I provided him the same info. At first, he seemed fine - a little arrogant, but at least he seemed like he was attempting to provide an objective assessment of my baby's issues and proposed course of action. When he evaluated my baby's mouth, he said that he saw both a tongue tie and a lip tie. I thought that was odd, as my lactation consultant had not mentioned a lip tie. Dr. Yazdi proposed that he clip both the tongue and lip ties. As I started to ask pretty benign questions about the procedures, Dr. Yazdi seemed to get agitated and defensive, and then I felt like he was giving me the hard sell to get the procedures done. I began to feel increasingly uncomfortable, and grew distrustful of him. Again, I was desperate to find a "fix" for my baby's weight loss, and almost talked myself into doing the procedures. Eventually, I decided that I wanted to get a second opinion before having any procedure done. When I told Dr. Yazdi I was thinking of getting a second opinion, I felt like he was trying to scare me into getting the procedure done that day - mentioning that a woman's milk supply could plummet extremely fast, that he was way more qualified that an ENT or pediatrician to diagnose and treat these issues, etc. I left the office, and visited a well-regarded ENT several days later. She opined that the tongue tie was minimal, and that in her opinion, clipping it would not make much of a difference for my baby's latching issues. She also said that she did not see a lip tie (my lactation consultant later said the same). I felt extremely relieved that I followed my intuition and didn't let Dr. Yazdi do the procedure. read more

I was referred to Dr. Yazdi for my infant son's lip and tongue ties. My son was 2.5 months and was not thriving. I felt like I was nursing him constantly but he was not gaining weight. It too a bit to figure out that he had a lip and tongue tie that were impeding on feeding. I went to my local doctors and they all pointed me to Dr. Yazdi telling me he was the best and the 1.5 hour drive would be completely worth it. After an hour consultation and being presented with multiple options I decided it would be best for my son to get a frenectomy as will as releasing his lip ties. I appreciate that even though I was referred for this procedure the doctor and his staff went over their recommendations and the long term results of doing/not doing the procedure. My son is nearly 7 months now and has no issues with feeding. He has been thriving since his appointment with Dr. YAzdi. Please note, his staff are wonderful. Dr Yazdi is the king of resolving tongue and lip ties. As we interacted with other specialists we learned that he is very well regarded and considered the best in the Bay Area. We felt so lucky to be treated here. Dr Y helped us tremendously with our infant daughter's severe tongue and lip tie. I can't recommend him enough! She went from not being able to lift her tongue at all to having full range of motion. The people that work in the office are very kind and competent, too. Shout out to Maria! She helped us so much with videos and further explanation on how to correctly do the aftercare. Yes, the aftercare of the procedure is tough. Your baby will hate it. You will hate it. but trust me, it is so worth it and it does get much much easier by week 2 or 3. We didn't bring our first daughter to Dr Y and instead had it corrected by her pediatrician who offered no follow up care. Months of "reflux" ensued with medicine and non stop colic crying with feeding. It was misery. We noticed the same behaviors (back arching, so much gas, gulping, poor latch) in our newest baby before the correction and within hours after the procedure with Dr Y, symptoms were resolved. If you're considering doing the procedure just understand that the aftercare (done correctly) is essential for it to work. They are very upfront about this in the office. Despite the warning, we learned the hard way to really follow the suggestion of presses after every feed (about every 3 hours) and had to do the procedure 2x (we were doing it 3-4 times per day which wasn't enough for the severity of the ties). Dr Y very graciously did it for free a second time when the ties reattached at week 3 (noticed a return of symptoms). When we did the presses every 3 hours (with one 5 hour stretch at night) for 6 weeks, it healed without issue. Thank you, Dr Yazdi and team!! read more

I brought my 6 week son to Dr. Yazdi in November 2019 after having difficulties with breastfeeding. He did a full evaluation and educated us on the tongue and lip ties my son had that were impacting breastfeeding. What I appreciated the most was we were able to make an informed decision without any pressure. Dr. Yazdi is THE GUY to go to for tongue tie revision. After Kaiser missed the diagnosis, our baby fell off the weight chart curve between his two and four month visit. We went to an ENT, but the clip was "barely a nick" according to a lactation consultant --just resulted in bleeding and pain with no relief. We wound up hearing about Dr. Yazdi. He took photos, showing us the tongue and lip ties. When the procedure was done, there was hardly any bleeding. We are about six weeks out now. Our son is back on his weight curve!!! Couple bits of advice: DO THE WOUND CARE --babies are fast healers. On the day of the procedure, make sure you come with someone to ride in the backseat with the baby on the way home. Get there early because the parking lot is often full. Dr. Yazdi can come off a bit over confident, but it's because he knows his shit. read more

I was devastated when I learned the pediatric dentist in my town no longer did frenectomies, and the dentists they referred me to were both an hour and a half away. I can say with 100% certainty Dr. Yazdi was worth the drive with my two week old!! The office is very clean and his staff is so friendly. Dr. Yazdi is very nice and knowledgeable and makes sure you are making informed choices about your baby's health. He explained everything so well and answered all of our questions and just took such good care of our baby boy. The procedure took like two minutes and my son was back in my arms nursing away like nothing happened. Our son had revision surgery back in January and while Dr. Yazdi was amazing and the surgery was successful, we have been trying for 8 MONTHS to have money we overpaid for this surgery refunded back to us. I even called our insurance who verified we overpaid and this office consistently says our case is under review or has been escalated or they're waiting for this or waiting for that and someone will get back to me but no one ever does. What it really feels like is that they're refusing to refund the money we overpaid and hoping that 8 months later, we'll forget about the $200. Our family has been extremely patient but I have no other choice but to bring our situation to light as I'm wondering who else may have experienced this? Our baby was born at 27 weeks and had feeding issues from the beginning. Bad reflux, hypersensitive gag reflex that would make it really hard to bottle feed and she could not breastfeed (tried but didn't work out for first few months). Saw feeding therapists and lactation consultants who suggested going to Dr Yazdi. We went in for a visit and were suggested that our baby has lip and tongue tie that we should consider getting addressed through laser. Dr Yazdi explained how her tethered oral tissues contributed to feeding issues, gag reflex, reflux etc and how it all might improve. We were unsure and went back home though Dr Yazdi offered to laser it the same day. We consulted our pediatrician who checked or baby's mouth and said she doesn't have any ties and that we should instead go see an ENT for confirmation. We saw another lactation consultant who explained how our baby had narrow and high palate that made it hard to bottle feed and strongly suggested we get it fixed by Dr Yazdi. I was skeptical of subjecting my baby to a procedure only to have her bottle aversion become worse. I read a lot of reviews and visited multiple online forums and Facebook groups and understood some nuances better. Pediatricians and ENTs are not specialists in diagnosing ties and that some pediatric dentists carry the reputation of running a "business" to laser ties or that they would never send a family away. Also found out how tethered oral tissues can contribute to a host of problems leading upto adulthood. Somehow we took the plunge and so glad we got the ties addressed by Dr Yazdi. He certainly has a lot of experience and made us at ease. Our baby eventually gave up bottle feeding and started exclusively breastfeeding when I least expected it. Her reflux and gag reflex got better with time too. It's been more than a year and I came back here to write this review for any parents who might be in the same boat as us. Do your research - it's very confusing with MDs vs pediatric dentists vs IBCLCs having differing opinions on the subject and that even "specialist" MDs may incompletely release a tie such that it continues to be an issue. After having our consultation with Dr. Yazdi and his assistant regarding our 3month old daughters lip & tongue ties we felt well informed and zero pressure to have the procedure performed. They gave us time to decide if we wanted to move forward and when we decided to go ahead and do the procedure they were very comforting to us and our daughter as they took her and brought her back. They are always welcoming from the moment you walk into the office to the moment you leave; from the front desk to the assistants to the dentist. They are very thorough in their work, paying attention to details and assuring that not only is my son comfortable but that I am. They talked my son through each step before it occurred and I appreciated that because he's a need to know child. First off, the office is a great environment for kids. My son loved it. The hygienist and Dr. Franklin were great considering it was his first time at the dentist. He now has it in his head why brushing is important to keep the "sugar bugs" away. My only problem is parking. We arrived 10 minutes early for our appointment only to find a full lot with no where to park. We drove up and down Lake Chabot for over 40 minutes trying to find parking either in the lot or on the street, which made us really late. The lot is small and the spots aren't suitable for SUVs, trucks or even some vans. There are a few spots for bigger cars but none of them were available. We ended up parking at the retail lot a block up and walked over to the office, hoping none of the retailers would give us crap and we wouldn't get towed. Lesson learned, show up about 45 minutes just to find parking or park in the retail lot or even up at Eden. read more

So, let me just say - Dr. Yazdi is great. Our infant was tongue and lip tied, and he did a wonderful job with him (and us). No complaints there. His BILLING dept on the other hand - a nightmare. We had the procedure done in July, and I'm still awaiting reimbursement in December. My insurance shows that they have not received the claim, and every time I call, they either don't return my call, or I get some excuse about my insurance needing more info, or something of the like. But my insurance company still says they haven't received the claim??? They make you pay for the service day of, and then it takes 6 months for them to get your paperwork together to get reimbursed?! Pretty crappy to do to patients - especially when the office is so nice and boutiquey - makes me wonder where my money went. read more

Both of my boys have been going to Dr. Yazdi since he opened his new, state of the art, office His cleaning protocol is above and beyond what is required and reassuring in this day and age of various flu's and disease. He is a trained orthodontist but as opted to work in children's dentistry. He does have an orthodontist on staff so it's a one stop shop if that's what you are looking for. He has an arcade as a reward system for sitting still. TV's over every chair and a climbing structure and massage chair for mom out front. They accept most insurance and in fact offer some type. He is pretty laid back so currently my 9yo has a cavity(small one) on a baby tooth that will probably fall out in the next year or so. My grandchildren were visiting g from out of town and my 5 yr old grandson awoke in the night with a toothache. I found Dr. Franklin, on Google. I am so glad I did. From the first phone call, I was impressed. A cheerful person answered, heard my plight and fit me in. The office is kid friendly! We came fully loaded with 5 kids total and it could have been insane, but the playhouse saved us. The RDA was Cas. She was gentle, attentive and kind. Dr. Franklin was great with the my grandson and his curious cousin. Dr. Franklin spoke to my grandson, asked him questions, listened and it was obvious, like everyone else we had encountered, she loves her job. My grandson did not have an abscess or even decay. Dr. Franklin didn't think he needed an X-ray and made some suggestions about what to expect in the future based on her exam. She was informative and gentle and should be known as a person of integrity. All of the staff are efficient, professionals that appear to like what they do. I will be back and highly recommend them! My kids had a prescheduled first dental visit at another office however one of my sons had a cavity that became too bothersome so I needed to get him pretty quickly. Our first visit here they did the cleaning and then gave me a detail breakdown of what was needed to address his teeth. We were scheduled with Dr. Franklin in which she was super kind and friendly. Her attention to my son was amazing. Their office was very presentable and welcoming for the kids. The game room seems to be a hit and it was really nice that they even gave my other son tokens without being seen by Dr. Franklin. I kept the appointment with the other dentist as this is new territory for me as a parent and figuring out which dentist to continue going to for my kids but overall our experience here and with Dr. Franklin was a positive one. read more
