As a new patient, I came to this dental office based on a referral, and WOW--best referral ever! From the moment I walked in, the entire staff made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. Azalea, Francee, and Liza are all super amazing people--kind, professional, and genuinely caring. Dr. Khemani is absolutely incredible. I have anxiety about going to the dentist, but Dr. Khemani's touch was so soft and gentle that I almost fell asleep in the chair! I never thought I'd say that about a dental visit. And the cherry on top--I met one of their amazing patients while leaving the office, and they couldn't stop saying great things about the staff either. That really says a lot! I tried becoming a new patient at Value View Dental and had a pretty disappointing experience. I called on October 24th and scheduled a new-patient exam and cleaning with their receptionist, Liza, for November 14th at 9am. Everything seemed straightforward. I showed up for the appointment today, and the receptionist told me there was no record of it. Not just for today--there was no appointment under my name at all. Clearly something went wrong on their end. They apologized and asked if I could come back at 10:30, but my schedule is packed with meetings and I can't rearrange things on the spot. I understand mistakes happen, but as a first impression, this wasn't great. I needed reliability, and they couldn't deliver it. I'll be looking for another office that's better organized. read more

We first visited this dentist at the very beginning of 2021. I started writing this review a couple years ago and never published. It seemed highly reviewed at the time we first decided to visit and our first experience was pretty decent. Staff seemed nice and helpful. We especially LOVED our hygienist and even while writing this review we have no complaints on our hygienist as she always was very thorough, gentle and super sweet. However, the rest of our visits outside of the hygienist were increasingly disappointing. From the very first visit the main focus of my visit was insisting that I fix my chipped tooth (it was chipped when I was a child) and I had informed them that my first dentist tried filling it twice. They also mentioned grinding my teeth and asked for me to bring my retainer in the next appointment. For the next appointment they never wanted to see my retainer and suddenly I had 3 cavities that needed filling and again they pressed that I get two cosmetic fillings at the same time which I refused. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since my previous dentist did want to keep an eye on some spots for potential future cavities but I found it very off-putting that the first visit at VVD they acted like everything was fine except recommended a filling that no dentist in over 20 years has pushed me to fill. And the very next visit was a very different story. Just seems like they might be pushing for potentially unnecessary fillings to make a little extra money. Did I really need cavities filled (first cavities in my entire life and 3 all at once), I guess we'll never know since they surprisingly had an open to do fillings right then and there and I just decided to get it over with. Finally, when we called in to the office the last time, whomever answered seemed really irritated to have to answer the phone and was really short and rude the entire time. We were calling to reschedule due to being sick. She told me that they wouldn't even reschedule us until we either had a negative covid test or had zero symptoms for a set period of time. And before I could ask any more questions she just hung up without so much as a "bye" or "you have a good day." I don't remember her name but it was NOT Kristine because Kristine has always been pleasant and accommodating on the phone and in person. That was honestly the last straw before we decided to switch back to our old dentist which we really loved and didn't want to leave anyway. TLDR: Do not recommend unless all you want is a simple cleaning. Get second opinions for anything else. Don't let them talk you into unnecessary fillings/procedures. read more

I've had a great experience so far with Dr Khemani. I originally came in to fix some crowding on my teeth after years of not wearing my retainers (post-braces from another dentist). Even though the crowding wasn't bad, it did cause TMJ. My jaw was hurting constantly, also due to some teeth grinding. It was starting to become unbearable. After getting Invisalign, I noticed a huge difference right away because the trays acted sort of as night guards. About 4 months later, my Invisalign treatment is almost done (I just got my retainers) and I can say that the TMJ pain has gone away completely. My smile is back to normal and my pain is gone, and I'm so thankful to Dr Khemani for that! I was also very thankful that the cost was so much lower than what I was quoted originally at another dentist office. I also have to add that she did a great job addressing all my concerns in every visit. Her staff is also friendly and on top of it when it comes to customer service. I can't say enough amazing things about Dr. Khemani and the entire team at Valley View Dental! After a terrible accident left my tooth cracked nearly in half, I was worried and unsure what could be done. I saw Dr. Khemani the very next day, and she took the time to thoroughly explain all my options for repair. From the start, I felt genuinely cared for. What impressed me the most was how seamlessly Dr. Khemani coordinated with multiple specialists -- including an endodontist, periodontist, and orthodontist -- to give my tooth the best chance at being saved. Dental care experience is standard and fine however office organization is poor. The first strike was when I was scheduled to get a new set of Invisalign retainers. I had taken time off work to come in and they did not even have them in yet. Instead of rescheduling before I wasted my time, I had already checked in before being told the office had not yet received my next set. Second strike was when I came in for an Invisalign check-up and was being prepped to see the dentist. After waiting some time, the assistant came in to tell me the dentist was too busy and it would be much longer to see me so I could just go if I didn't have any issues. If this was the case, why schedule visits at all or why not try to reschedule me before I came in? To their credit, the dentist did call after a few days to ask how was the Invisalign set working out, which she had never done before. I suspect that was my "appointment". Third and final strike was when I was called and given the option to get an earlier appointment a week early for my normal 6-month check-in since they had an open spot. I took the open spot however after checking-in, I was told the appointment was too early for my insurance to cover the cleaning and check-up. Some pros are my dental hygienists seemed to be thorough and the regular checkup room had nice chairs that gave patients a nice gentle massage. I hope the dental office chairs become standard in the future. They also seem to have regular promotions for Invisalign, which was also helpful for those that need a push. Overall dental care is fine but the disorganization is too much to overlook. read more

I've been going to this practice since 2017. My dental hygienist Sonja was wonderful, and I stayed because of her gentle hands and kindness. Two stars for her. But I recently decided to leave because I had to reschedule an appointment with more than a month notice and they could only offer appointments an additional 6 months out. We left for the following reasons: - it is impossible to reschedule an appointment, even with month(s) notice of need to reschedule, they can only offer rescheduling of routine care appointments 6 months out. -The front desk staff, specifically Kristina, is very rude and condescending. If you have to reschedule she sighs and shows her disdain for taking her time. I can't think of a single pleasant interaction with her, she has always made me feel like an inconvenience. -they try to upsell on whitening, Invisalign, expensive custom night guards frequently. It feels unethical. -they text constantly asking for reviews on yelp, it is really over the top and intrusive. read more

Absolutely fabulous! From the hygienist to Dr. Khemani and her associate and the assistants, they are very gentle, patient, and considerate. Got a filling today and the shot was PAINLESS using a massager device. The gentle massaging chair was soothing. The tech in the office (digital X-rays, up close photos of your teeth) was also very modern and comforting. Also appreciate they were very clear with my cost estimates before each visit~ when the filling changed to be smaller than they thought, they lowered the cost for me without my needing to ask :) highly recommend! read more

FYI Dr. Khemani and the staff are very aggressive here in filling every single little cavity that you have. This was a shock to me as I was going to my previous dentist regularly for years and my previous dentist never did that to me. In the end, I guess I preferred a more conservative and wait-and-see approach, rather than filling every little cavity on a new patient without establishing some time to get to know and monitor their teeth. When I came in to fill cavities after my initial, I only wanted to fill some cavities and not all of them, and I left more confused than ever, because only weeks after my first appointment, the other dentist found even more tiny cavities to fill that were not pointed out in the first appointment. Thanks to my parents' and my sister's very positive experience with Dr. Khemani and her staff, I made an appointment with her. I moved back to Castro Valley after living in LA, so I needed a new dentist. Her office blew it out of the water! Dr. Khemani's gentle and kind nature truly helped me feel welcomed. Her staff is also super helpful! I went in for a basic cleaning and their check-up/procedural process was thorough and comprehensive. I felt like I was taken care of with all of my dental needs! Plus - I love their attention to detail! Particularly, their office ceiling! It has a stained-glass light fixture that features a serene, blue sky and colorful air balloons! When you've got to lie still in that dental chair (with nothing to do or look at), gazing at those colorful balloons sparks joy! My partner and I came to this dentist because of the good reviews. We had separate cleaning and check up appointments weeks apart. My partner came home from his and told me that the dentist had recommended he get a night guard because he was grinding his teeth and had made him set up an appointment to get it. I was surprised because I'd never heard him grind his teeth. He was surprised because he never had anything but positive feedback from dentists but this one freaked him out by telling him his enamel was cracking. I went to my appointment a few weeks later and found the cleaning extremely abrasive. And lo and behold the dentist (or hygienist?) also told me I was grinding my teeth and needed to get a night guard. They also told me that I had a cavity and needed to get a small filling before it got worse, pointing out a black dot on my tooth and pressured me into getting a follow up appointment. I was scared because I'd never had a cavity in my life. For a full two weeks after my appointment, my teeth and gums hurt and were extremely sensitive due to the cleaning. It felt like the hygienist has actually loosened my teeth my scraping them so hard. When I told my partner he was surprised and said the same thing had happened to him but he didn't say anything about it because he assumed it was his own problem. This all started sounding pretty suspicious so we cancelled our appointments. The receptionist was pretty rude when I called to cancel, don't know how to describe it, maybe annoyed and sarcastic? Half a year later I booked an appointment with a different dentist and they did a cleaning and check up and said I was looking good, no cavities. I insisted several times asking if they saw cavities and they said they didn't. I asked about the black dot and they said, "what black dot? Maybe we cleaned it off?" And sure enough that black dot was gone. I couldn't believe that Valley View almost had me come in and get a filling for no reason! And after this cleaning my mouth didn't ache for weeks like it did at valley view. I'm pretty disappointed that dentists would try to upsell their clients like this with false diagnoses. Makes it hard for me to trust any medical professional without getting a second opinion now. On the plus side I did like that valley view dentist had some fun ceilings to look at while getting cleaned. read more

My visit with Dr. Khemani today was a very pleasant one. I was looking for a Family Dentist closer to home and for my 2 sons who aged out of pediatric dentistry. There are so many dentists out there and finding an extremely good one can be challenging but I am so glad I've found Dr. Khemani. She and her staff were very professional and friendly. I was always nervous going to the dentist and haven't been for a while, especially since COVID, but Dr. Khemani and Carmen were wonderful. They definitely made me feel better and more at ease after today's visit. Dr. Khemani was very thorough and explained everything in detail and clearly. I fell face down on the concrete sidewalk and my front teeth fell out. I called my dentist but he was out of town, and was referred to Valley View Dental. I was given straight and clear instructions to put my tooth in a container of salt water. In what seems to zoom by within an hour, I was walking out of Valley View Dental with two rebuilt and replanted teeth. My wife was certainly relieve to see me smile again. It was my first visit with Dr Khemani and it was a very pleasant experience. First off, I got lucky with a next day appointment, it was that quick, which is not typical when you are a new patient! They also had a little custom Welcome sign with my name on it at the front office when I walked in which was a pleasant surprise :) Dr Khemani was wonderful. She was very easy to speak with. She spent quality time with me discussing my dental issues, answering all my questions and recommending the right solutions. I was able to build an instant rapport with her. She also wasn't into trying to sell me expensive procedures unlike other dentists which was refreshing and much appreciated. Just one tiny thing, while Dr Khemani and my Hygeinst were awesome, the front office people could be a little more friendly and personable especially when talking to a new patient. My tooth that they worked on has been sensitive ever since they worked on it. I went back 3x and they still didn't fix it. Let me start off by saying that I am petrified of all dentist.. Ever since childhood I've always been scared of every single dentist that I've ever encountered.. Just the thought of them standing there holding that angry sounding drill makes me sweat .. The slightest sound of that bone shattering drill has always made me nervous.. To this very day I'm still scared of "every single" dentist (and their angry drill) but for some reason it seems a little different whenever Kiran Khemani is holding "the angry drill".. It kind of feels like a peaceful scared, (if that makes any sense).. So I'm still scared of the drilling sound but I am no longer scared of the person holding the drill.. I'm so very grateful to have found Kiran khemani at Valley View Dental.... She's such a nice person.. You can always feel her positive energy whenever you're in her presence.. This place is simply wonderful! I came from another office which had a great offer for a new patient exam, X-rays and cleaning and I can say that's the last time I'll do that. Don't get me wrong, the staff at the other office was great, but the doctor sat me down after everything and said that there were 9 areas they needed to work on and that if I wanted to proceed I can talk with their office administrator. She showed me a hefty quote and I knew I needed a second opinion because I've had my teeth cleaned every 6 months my whole life, I brush my teeth every day and the last place I went to said I might have a couple areas I need to work on and that was it. I called my good friend in dental school whose dad is a dentist and sent him my pictures and x-rays and he said I definitely need to go somewhere else for a another opinion because from what he could see, he definitely would not recommend 9 fillings. A few months went by and I knew I needed to get a second opinion but it couldn't have worked out better. The office I work for had set up a corporate health talk with Valley View Dental and we went to their office. Everyone there was just such a joy to be around. I eventually set up a consult with Dr. Khemani and she also looked at my x-rays and pictures and examined me and said, with great integrity and without bashing the other dentist I went to, that there were only a few places that need some work and here is how I can help. I proceeded with the care and it has been very high quality and at an affordable and value based fee. I do not currently have health insurance but they were able to make it more affordable and it's totally worth it for my health, the quality of care and friendly environment. Dr. Khemani and her staff truly care about their patients and are incredibly warm hearted. They put their patient's values first and I wouldn't recommend going anyway else for you and your family's needs. read more

So can I say how much I love the dentists and it's staff?! They are great! I came in because I had a chipped molar and was concerned about it. Initially they weren't able to schedule me until two weeks later but low and behold they found time to get me seen the very next day!!! I will be make in for multiple visits due to me putting my dental on the back burner for a long time. Anyways I got a regular cleaning and it was amazing. My dentist Dr. Graywall (I apologize if I'm totally butchering the spelling!!) is so amazing! She was kind and has the gentlest touch ever. I just loved her. I cannot remember my dental hygienists name but I LOVED her as well. I'm so excited about going back to the dentist!! Which says a lot in itself. But everyone should definitely come visit here! It's a wonderful dentists office! Oh and it's so great that she's splitting up the appointments and actually asked if I was nursing when I mentioned I had a 6 month old. She is going to make sure that I get more topical anesthetic and less of the numbing agent to fill my cavities because that can transfer to breastmilk! Like seriously?! How awesome can you get?! Going to the dentist isn't ever going to be on my Top 10 list of things to do. But this has got to be my favorite dental office. I was referred by a parent when I asked where he takes his kids. I had already tried another dental office in CV and have seen two other dentists in my life. But I was looking for a place I could take my two kids as well as me and my husband. Thanks be! I ran into a dad who told me about VVD! We've been going for two years and I can confidently say this is the best dental office I've ever been a patient of. Christine, the office manager (I don't know if that's her title. Customer service guru? Administrative Goddess?) is top notch. And after my experience with other dental offices, I have to say that her position is CRUCIAL to having a positive experience. I cannot tell you the billing nightmares or bad customer experiences I've had at other dental offices because the dentist was nice but the head of administration was incompetent or unbearable. Not Christine. She is very patient-orientated, sharp and kind to boot! So is her staff. They are professional, great with kids, excellent billing practices, responsive ... I just can't write enough great things about them. Dr. Kehmani is awesome. I never get the feeling she is rushed, she makes sure to answer all my questions and although I'm not a dentist I'm pretty confident she does fantastic work! She and her hygienists are wonderful with adults and kids alike. They're patient, thorough, and best of all, do not cause pain. And they have little tricks if they know you're tense or nervous. And yes, the massage/dental chairs are something to brag about. (Seriously, I was telling my friend about it and they were jealous.) So after two years, this review was long overdue. If I could give no stars I would do that. My son started getting dental care from this office sometime in the summer of 2021. And I'm still not sure why he was billed so much for a root canal, crown, and about 6 fillings. They kept changing the cost of services. But while using this dental office, he maxed out two different insurance accounts in about six months. I also had to pay out-of-pocket. And even though I received notification about insurance claims paid in November, they claimed that they hadn't received anything and didn't sort the bill out until early January. Right now I'm waiting on a refund from this office, for a very small of a little less than $300. They claim that they sent it to three different addresses, but that refund is yet to be seen. Now when I call them, they are abrupt, rude, talk over me, and often do not return my calls; and act as if I'm annoying them. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I got frustrated with them briefly in early January due to all of the above and hung up on them, but quickly called back to apologize. But these people continue to be rude. I'm not sure how they stay in business, maybe it's by overcharging for dental services. I don't expect to ever actually see the refund they owe me. I believe that there's some kind of corruption going on, and I'm about to make a complaint to the proper dental authority. I had suspected that me and my son have been receiving medical racism because racist people treat Black people in a rude and dismissive manner. But then I realized that they are just unorganized office with questionable billing practices and the worst customer service ever. That front desk receptionist is horrible!....I have moved my son to a dental office near his home. Already they've given a clear explanation of services and billing and both of us are being treated with respect. read more
