I stopped by Frodo's for a crepe and unfortunately it missed the mark for me. The customer service was great and my order came out quickly, but the crepe itself was crunchy and paper thin. I don't get crepes often, but I've always known them to be soft and tender, so this was surprising. By the time I got home about 20 minutes later, it just wasn't enjoyable. It's been over a year since my last review of this place. I'd say I've been back at 4 or 5 times, the crepes here are delicious, and i always show so coffee deprived and call the crepes omelettes lol my apologies. I went to visit a friend in San Leandro and it made me wish I lived over here simply to frequent this coffee shop. I had the iced horchata latte and iced vanilla latte at two different times in one weekend. Both of the coffees were super sweet and yummy and gave me the caffeine boost I needed. I had their seafood delight as well before I made my way back home. It was filling and delectable with shrimp and crab. The meal came with additional sides of pesto and ranch. Exterior: the first thing I saw was the "Now Hiring" sign so I assume there are a lot of new trainees that are working here and often times, they come and go. Other than that, this place is next to a gas station and within the plaza area. There is full glass around this cafe, so a lot of natural lighting coming inside, an outdoor seating if you happen to bring your pets with you and plenty of parking spots. Interior: there is moderately a lot of tables and there's a couple of lounge seats at the back of the cafe which is very nice. They have a big board on top of the coffee creamer counter are at, I notice that you just put away your plates and mugs at the bins. If the bins are not there then pass it onto the employees and they'll take care of it. Experience: Food&Drinks: their savory crepes are really good since I prefer savory over sweet. I tried out their strawberry and banana crepe with ice cream and Nutella sauce. It tastes great and I like my crepes on the crispier side. As for the hot drinks, I went a simple hot chocolate with lite whip cream and it tasted good. Overall: I would like to keep this in mind, this place is a small mom and pop shop and the owner is pretty familiar with a lot of returning customers. Not only that, this place have a really good reputation for what they have in their cafe and something to keep in mind is that they work pretty fast paced, nothing like Starbucks where the employees would hold up the line by making conversations with customers. Next is probably a lot of the employees are high schoolers/students in this cafe. To top it off, this place has been opened for a really long time, maybe a decade and a half? Judging by how long they've been opened, it is a really good spot to quickly get your drinks and meals. read more

Lesson learned, best to order on their website instead of calling in the order to avoid miscommunication/misunderstanding. I wanted their Fresh Strawberries Crepe add bananas, which online says it has Nutella. Upon pick-up, I was charged for Strawberries and Banana Crepe with sauces on the side. The sauces were caramel and raspberry - no Nutella in the crepe. Discovered this gem on Yelp after going for a long walk/hike at a nearby regional walking trail. They specialize in making sweet and savory crepes along with specialty coffee drinks, smoothies, teas and sandwiches. My friend got one of the sweet crepes filled with strawberries and topped with nutella with a side of whipped cream and a scoop of ice cream. I wanted to get the seafood crepe (complete with shrimp and crab) but I opted for a sandwich instead. I got the tuna with avocado, tomato, onion, mayo and mustard on wheat. It was good (it was tuna) but my friends crepe is what was sold it. The crepe was not too thin or thick- just the right amount of bite and flavor. I'll definitely go back for the savory crepe. Also with your selection you get a side- for my sandwich I got the pasta salad which was flavorful. Indoor and outdoor seating- warning the inside can get a little smoky because they are constantly making crepes fresh in front of you but it's worth another try for sure. One thing that stood out was the customer service- my friends crepe was cooked first before my sandwich was ready and they had her food sitting waiting until mine was done so we could have our order served together. So her crepe was a little cold when she got it- she asked if it could be reheated. Frodo Joe's has been my go-to for crepes and coffee since my college days. And for good reason too - it's always delicious! Most recently I stopped by for a quick coffee after my morning workout. They often have seasonal/holiday specials so I decided to go for their "50 shades of blush" (basically a white mocha with strawberry). It was heavy on the mocha flavor with just a light hint of strawberry. I probably could've enjoyed a little more strawberry flavor just to make it more significant but overall the drink was still enjoyable. I also ordered the lemon loaf which was Service was pretty quick and the shop wasn't too busy when I stopped by at around 730am on a Wednesday. I was able to order right away and get my drink in about 10 min or less. There isn't a whole lot of seating in the restaurant but I don't think that's ever been a problem because I've never seen it too full. Most people are ordering their food/coffee and leaving.
