Been coming here for years since probably like 2014 or so? Service here is pretty straightforward and quick. Staff have always been generally knowledgeable and straight shooters with questions and what not. Think only once I've had a problem which was the oil filter not being put on tight enough but all it took was a quick tightening. On February 23rd of 2026 I went to get an oil change. Quick and easy, left around 30 minutes later. 3 days later I notice at work a giant oil puddle where I normally park. I come home, look on the ground of my parking spot and sure enough another massive oil puddle. I make my way to the store to have my leak fixed, and on the way my car throws out a DTC for my powertrain. When I get there I explain the issue, and they begin to "fix" the leak. About 30 minutes later I get a text from an unknown number to an aftermarket oil filter cap on Amazon. Unbeknownst to me at the time it was the store manager's personal number. He told me that my oil cap filter was broken, that it was made of cheap plastic and was only supposed to last 60,000 miles(my car is at 96,000), that their supplier didn't have the OEM piece, and that it was $140.00 at Hyundai, so I should buy the one he sent me and they would install it once I'd receive it. I went home and immediately called Hyundai to double check that the information given to me was correct. The person I talked to said that my oil filter cap was rated to last at least 150,000 miles, and that the only way to break it was to tighten it too much or install it incorrectly. My car was still leaking oil when I left the Castrol shop, and so I was unable to drive it until I could have it inspected at Hyundai for the powertrain DTC almost 2 weeks after this. Luckily there was no damage, but to perform the diagnostic inspection they had to perform an oil change anyway. So not only was a piece damaged while at Castrol for the original oil change, but I had to get another oil change to perform the diagnostic inspection at Hyundai, making the original appointment useless, not to mention the store manager seemingly trying to cover up the damage to my oil filter cap. I called the store manager's business number twice to attempt to at least get a refund for my original oil change with no response, so then I call Castrol Corporate who say that there's nothing they can do except contact the store owner and give them my information. It's been 1 week since I called Castrol Corporate and the store owner has yet to contact me. In fact, corporate emailed me with a follow up to ensure I had been contacted before I actually was. Now I must take this matter to my bank and have the charge disputed. Refunding me is the least Castrol can do especially since it cost me much more to have my car inspected, oil changed again and the oil filter cap replaced, and if they can't even do that then I'll get my money back myself. I would never recommend this location or even this company ever, and I will never return. This whole issue could have cost me thousands more if I hadn't done my research and acted quickly. read more

I had my oil changed in March and second day after service was done the plug blew out while I was driving. They apologized and refunded my money they were very lucky my engine didn't sieze. Fast-forward to this month my son said let's give them another chance, he took his car in had the service done and low and behold his car is dripping oil, he checks the plug and it's not tight at all. Quite honestly we came here because my mechanic was pushed out a month and I really needed an oil change. I found this place on Yelp with excellent ratings but 20 miles from my house. That was okay since I was thinking of driving into Carson for some other errands. This place did not disappoint. Very friendly and reasonable prices. I got my air filter changed as well. We waited in their waiting room, which was clean. They even had some seating outside if you wanted to get some fresh air which my daughter took advantage of. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. He noticed my driver's license indicating I wasn't a local. He told me that the company bought out our local Jiffy Lube. I explained the ratings brought me in to that location but he said rest assure the manager that took over had worked and trained at his store and was awesome. These guys were very friendly and did an outstanding job changing the oil, checking fluid levels, and changing the cabin air filter behind the glove box. They also reset the "service needed light" on the dash. These guys actually seemed like they cared about the quality of the work performed. There was no sales pressure, only information needed to make an informed decision. This was my first visit. I was referred by the local Less Schwab, and was not disappointed. I have had work done at this service location a handful of times, since it is right next to my work, and my only issue in the past is I found them to be more expensive then other oil change service stations like Jiffy Lube. The reason for the 1 star rating has to do with my most recent smog check service. When I pulled up for a smog I notified the technician that my check engine light was on and asked whether that would impact my test. The technician seem to indicate that the check engine light being on didn't necessarily mean that it would fail. Given that, I went ahead with the smog check. After the normal minute to two minutes of testing, the testing was done and my car had failed. The shop provided the smog documentation and proceeded to ring me up for the service. I asked if they would retest for free and the technician indicated that he could offer $10 off but since the DMV charges for every test they have to charged. Based on my understanding, the DMV charge is only $6 but somehow they still need to charge for labor despite the fact that it takes less than 5 minutes to do the smog check and I already paid $24.95 for the first test. The real kicker is that I later learned that the DMV clearly states if the check engine light is on the car will not pass smog. So the technician most likely knew going into the smog check my car would not pass and just wanted the money for the service. Needless to say this is the last time I will be taking my car here and I am happy to report that there are other places in the area I can take my car that will allow for 2-3 failed tests before they charge for the service. read more

Quick and Easy. I live in Sparks and work in Carson City. I needed a smog to complete my registration and most of the places on Reno/Sparks are closed before I get back into town. I made a quick call to the Lube Express on College Parkway, the technician let me know I could get it taken care of at their shop and the DMV immediately gets the results. I drove in, the technician saw me and without stopping walked right over, took the keys, and asked me if I wanted to sit in the lobby. There was almost no time to sit before he came into the lobby checked me out and I was on my way. I really love it when you talk to a knowledgeable and friendly employee, they work quickly to accomplish the task, and don't waste your time. I might pay a couple dollars more in Sparks to get a smog done, but the customer service is worth every penny. read more

They really should have a "no stars' option. I have had all of my cars oil changed at this shop for 10(?) years. My truck uses Castrol 10w30Edge Synthetic. I went there on this past Saturday to get my truck oil changed and some wiper blades installed. They said it would be a 1hr & 45 minute wait. I get it, its first come first serve, so I bailed. Went back on Tuesday and they said the didn't have the oil that they put in my truck last time, but they were expecting a shipment Thursday or Friday. On Thursday I pulled in and the employee said they don't have that oil anymore but that he would go look up the equivalent. Instead of coming back with an equivalent, another dude (the boss?) came to my truck and said, they haven't carried that oil for a year (Same guy that said they were expecting a shipment) He said that that they only had it at the Reno shop and if I want that oil I would have to bring in my own oil or go there. I showed my window sticker to the guy and he said, we don't have it END OF STORY; and walked away. I used to go there because even though they were more expensive they were quick and honest and reliable. New management? I think so. I wont be back. It's a shame that the pressures of small franchise ownership have apparently overwhelmed the newly minted boss to the point that they have forgotten all aspects of the necessity of polite and clear communication during customer service difficulties. I am not an idiot and can understand the changes in planning and the products that are carried and I also understand that I may not like some decisions that are made. I get it. Things change and I am just one customer with a few cars; but don't lie to me. Don't cut me off when I have questions. Like I said. I wont be back; but they will probably answer this review with the obligatory "We are so sorry you have problems at this location ... blah blah blah... we always strive...blah blah blah... we will check into this ... blah blah blah" and then check their good to bad review ratio to see if they have reached an unacceptable level of bad reviews to worry about it ... and do nothing. I called Big Brand Tire & Service down the street. The dude there was polite and answered all my questions, double checked his oil inventory and said they could do it while I wait. They have an equivalent oil in stock. I wonder if they have seen customers come over from the Castrol place since there is a new Castrol boss? It took me a total of 3 minutes to find a different oil change place. I guess Big Brand Tire & Service will get my 15 annual oil changes. If they do good I might even buy tires from them, and wiper blades, and have my coolant flushed and differential and transfer case lube change and light bulb and fuses etc. Seems like they will do all the same stuff as Castrol plus more and at a better price without the condescension. Two negative experiences in less than a week, so though we have taken all 3 vehicles there for a few years, not going back. It's a totally different place when the boss is not there and not interested in crap shoots. Who knows about the quality of the service but if it matches the attitude, I have my doubts. I let them change my serpentine belt with oil change and radiator flush and left after paying over $240 bucks and my AC would not work, so I came right back 10 minutes later and they say it is a coincidence. This is the only place in town where it cost more to get an oil change for your Duramax 6.6 Chevy 3500 than taking it to the Chevrolet dealer! Not only do they overcharge, but they treat you incredibly rudely. $202.00 for just the oil and filter change. That is without any extra services! Also I don't understand why they were pushing AMS Oil? When I asked to confirm it was Ams Oil they were putting in they went ballistic and told me "they weren't crooks" I simply had never been here before and wanted to confirm they were doing what they said, especially at these ridiculous prices!!! When they finished I asked if I could see the dipstick to confirm that the oil pan was filled. They told me I could not until they drove it out of the bay. When I checked it appears to be a quart low. I have a picture of the dipstick if anyone at corporate would like to see it. Is this just a scam to make a little more money on the big oil change? So along with high prices and rude behavior you get poor service. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. I suspect they have hired a reputation booster to post a whole bunch of fake reviews for them. I came out here from cali and was worried about my car needing a oil changed and other things were wrong with my Prius. Very pleased the minute we arrived. Chris was in the front office and help is right away, check the fluids in my car and made sure everything was good. I've been to places were they always want to get more out of you. I have used this facility for several years. They get the job done and are usually quick. Yet, the staff are usually in a poor mood and treat me like they could care less about me. There is a high turnover in the staffing too. I drove away once and had to return because my car leaked oil on my garage floor. I remind them of this and point out the oil pan plug on my car model has a higher than normal torque load. They usually respond as if I offended their intelligence, rather than saying "thanks for reminding us, we will make sure it is done right". After many years of using this location, I regret nothing is changing for the better. I'm going to find another brand or location. read more

I came in the morning when they opened on a Saturday and Allen who's the manager needs to learn how to speak to people. No good morning no hey how are you nothing. Just what year is your car and walked off. Came back asked me to sign something. I actually called Friday before hand to talk to them and he was even rude then I said I needed a price quote and he said not right now I'm too busy. Bud I get that however you don't need to be rude and remember that customers are asking you for a quote and he should really not of been such a jerk. I brought my SUV here so I could try them out. Odds are I won't return to this place because he's rude. Not that he cares since it's not his money however you will have a crap conversation with Allen the manager. He's nice very nice. We just moved to Nevada, and it was unclear from the DMV's website whether we needed a smog check or not to register our car. To play it safe, I wanted to get one. I found this place online and swung by. One of the guys came out just after I arrived. He had seen my CA license plates and wanted to check with me what county I was moving to in NV. He informed me that I didn't need a smog check to register my car. The whole experience was very efficient and helpful, despite me not actually getting any service after all. They were very quick, and I feel very honest and even said my oil looked like it had just been changed and said they didn't believe it needed to be changed and asked if I still wanted an oil change. Almost every other place I've tried when I didn't feel like changing my oil would've just changed it and not ask me if I still wanted to change it.
