Went here after reading reviews. I had an Asada burrito and my wife had the Asada tacos. Salsa was good and tortillas also. Asada was just average and my wife got really tough meat. I expected a lot more after reading comments. Either a bad night or people reviewing have never had great Asada. Will not back. read more

Stopped here Friday night on our way to camp. We were suspicious of the San Diego reviews so we had to check it out for ourselves--it did not disappoint! We ordered a carnitas, adobada, and cabeza taco. The carnitas was moist and delicious and the adobada was very flavorful (my first time trying!). My boyfriend LOVED the cabeza (cheek) taco (I did not try it). They let you add your own onion, cilantro, lime, and salsa on the taco which I liked a lot. We also had a carne asada burrito that was huge and delicious and powered our hike to the summit of White Mountain. read more

Pork adovado tacos was amazing, beef carnitas molitas were pretty good but the better style I think. Cash only!

Great tacos! The meat was just a little dry, IMO, so I can't give it 5 stars, but I'm a huge fan of these taco trucks in town! It was very convenient being adjacent to the gas station where I could grab any type of drink and had access to a restroom. I grabbed a taco variety plate, and they were all good. Driving from mammoth, an inexplicable après-ski hunger arose as we approached our usual gas station in lone pine. We had resolved to skip the usual BBQ in bishop, but the allure of warm street tacos overcame us (it was very cold). We ended up getting 16 tacos. four of Carne Asada, carnitas, pollo, and lingua. We had a street taco virgin with us, and taco story short this establishment blew our minds. All the tacos were delicious, and after digging into the Asada, pollo, and carnitas, we had the pleasant surprise of getting lingua (a mishap in the kitchen) that ended up being quite delicious. 3/5 of our party remarked this humble taco truck as the tacos of their lives. After a long day hiking and traveling through Death Valley, Castro's tacos hit the spot. I ordered carne asada tacos and expected them to be small, so I ordered 6. In reality they were stuffed to the max with meat, so I could only eat 3. They let you put on your own toppings as you like, which was also appreciated. I live in Los Angeles where thr famous King Taco is but this place serve one of the best taco I ever tasted. I can say poace beats king taco. Tasty meat, fresh veggies on top and homemade salsa, cannot ask for more. There is salsa section with 3 different salsas. Their hot one is really hot. Really really really hot and will make you cry and you won't be able to tpuch anything with your hands after you touch the salsa. This is the taco truck located in the SE corner of the Mobil gas station/mini mart on the north end of town. I had the adobada and carne asada tacos and then added extras like guacamole, salsa, lime, and cabbage from the condiment box located near the front of the truck. Not much of a seating area, only one plastic table and some rickety chairs. The food was good, cheap, and fast. Not sure how it compares to the other taco truck across the street, but it sure beats the other fast food options in town. read more

After our Mount Whitney hike we were starving and tacos sounded perfect. We rolled up to the place across Mobil but they weren't there. I called the number and they said they'd be there in 20 minutes. Sure enough in 20 minutes the truck pulled up and started taking orders shortly. We ordered a shrimp, chicken, and carne asada. The meat was well marinated and served traditionally with two tortillas. They had freshly sliced onions with cilantro, radish slices, and grilled green chili offered at their salsa bar in addition to 4 salsas - spicy verde, creamy guacamole, regular salsa and another that I didn't try but I'm sure it was great. I finished my two tacos (shrimp and chicken) and before my friend could finish her carne asada taco I had already ordered another chicken taco. There was a large party after us and the chef noticed the patio furniture was directly in the sun so he came out and moved the table into the shade for them. So attention to detail is apparent in more than just the food, it's in the service itself. Even something as simple as the chopped onions wouldn't seem like something worthy of a review, but it was obvious that these onions were fresh because they had that nice juicy bite to them that could make or break a taco. Definitely come to this taco truck when you're passing through Lone Pine! read more

They take a lot of time and care in their tacos. We had them driving back from a Mammoth ski trip, and floored by how good they were. Fresh, hand made corn tortillas on the tacos, extremely well seasoned meat, and friendly people working the stand.
