(525) is worth a stop for the building alone--that curved corrugated-metal shell, the tangle of Edison bulbs strung across the high ceiling, and a sunny little patio out back make it one of the more distinctive coffee spots around. The service was friendly and quick. I ordered at the counter and had my drink in hand in no time, with genuinely nice folks behind the bar. The menu has some fun, unexpected touches too--the mint cold brew is a standout you won't find everywhere, and it's refreshing without being gimmicky. The pastry case is where they really shine. House-made bialys, savory danishes with coconut greens and pork belly, sweet danishes with black tea and roasted rhubarb, plus a rotating lineup of cookies and tea cakes. Everything looks like it's made with real care, and the bakery side (Grist) clearly takes the craft seriously. One heads-up: there's no WiFi. If you're hoping to post up and grind through a few hours of work, this isn't the spot for it--plan on a shorter visit or bring a hotspot. For a quick, high-quality coffee-and-pastry run, though, it's a winner. Come for the architecture and the mint cold brew, stay for the bialys--just don't expect to get much emailing done.

The wine department alone is worth the trip -- they've got everything organized by region with these great little signposts (Chile, Argentina, an actual sake and dessert section), plus a deep bench of natural and small-production bottles. Found some gems I hadn't seen anywhere else in town. The prepared food situation is excellent. The hot bar, salad bar, and antipasto bar are all $9.99/lb, and they've got a made-to-order panini station and wok bowls if you'd rather get something fresh. Solid spot for a quick, quality lunch. What really sets this place apart is that it's so much more than a grocery store. There's a whole housewares section with SMEG kettles, beautiful linens, mugs, and kitchen gear -- dangerously easy to walk out with more than you came for. They even have a sunny garden nook with locally grown succulents, orchids, lavender, and organic seed packets from regional growers. Love that they support local. Clean, bright, well-staffed, and stocked with care. This is the kind of place that makes you want to actually cook. Highly recommend.

Ended up tossing it away. What a waste! Why does all of their produce rot? While it's still hard? I'm the grand daughter of an orchardist. My family grew fruit for a living. We would never sell this and charge top dollar. And we would most definitely not take your money and keep it for foul produce. We would call that thievery. But you can see in the above response, these days stores don't really seem to care. They say they do, but offer nothing to rectify the situation.

The pastry case is impressive with a huge selection of pastries, bagels, and goodies, including massive pies that are hard to resist. Coffee and tea options cover all the standard classics, plus some fun twists that keep the menu interesting. The coffee is good for the area but nothing outstanding. The space itself is large with plenty of seating options, and it never feels overly crowded, which is a big plus if you want to sit and relax for a while. Unfortunately, the service has gone downhill. The baristas used to be incredibly friendly, remembered drink orders, and made you feel genuinely welcome. Lately, it feels rushed and impersonal, like you're just being pushed through the line with little acknowledgment. The experience has been very hit or miss, which makes it hard to want to return regularly. Overall, amazing pastries and pies, solid drinks, and a great space, but the inconsistency in service is what keeps this from being a frequent stop for me anymore.

I use the term "little" loosely because it's actually very spacious and roomy inside. It's so spacious that they have room to add more tables and chairs which I don't think would be a bad idea. Their menu is pretty big and they offer quite a few items ranging from sandwiches and breakfast burritos to salads and bagels. As far as drinks, they offer all the normal coffee items you can expect to find at a coffee shop as well as fruit smoothies, protein smoothies, and all the Lotus flavors. Their breakfast burrito is definitely worth getting for the price. The service is average and the employees seem to be friendly the times I've been in there. My food has always come out hot when it's supposed to be. I still would like to try a sandwich and that will be next on my list. Their prices are very reasonable and are some of the best around Missoula. The adorable lighthouse decor just adds to the charm of this place and they even have a little children's play area tucked into the corner for those who have kids. Whether you're a local or a tourist visiting the area, this is a place I'd recommend stopping at.
