It's been about a year since I've visited Panera. When I lived closer I used to love their chicken avocado melt sandwich and eat it all the time. Today I went in and ordered the sandwich. To begin with a single sandwich and a small drink cost 22 dollars, which is absurd all by itself. But then the sandwich came and it was disgusting. Not the same sandwich in any way shape or form. There was a single chunk of cold chicken with a slice of melted cheese and a small drop of sauce in the very middle. I actually took two bites and threw the entire 20 dollar sandwich away. First of all, for the most part I like Panera Bread. However, in the Missoula location I have never gotten the same quality food when going through the Drive thru that I can get by going inside and sitting down to eat. The drive thru is pre-packaged (I have the Fuji Apple Salad) in a small bowl, with very little ingredients other than lettuce. And some of the lettuce wasn't even cut up and some was brown (bleh!). Small portion of dressing. My iced tea had zero ice in it. For this, I paid $16 dollars. I have tried the drive thru on different days of the week and at different times thinking that surely I'd get a different result, but nope. I don't believe that I'll ever trust the drive thru again and will have serious doubts about going inside either. It's like they just don't really care about drive thru customers because by the time you discover your meal is gross...you're too far away to do anything about it and they already have your money! First my husband and I are Panera fans ! We love the harvest squash soup from Tucson! The true story of Panera in lynnwood wA. First we drove up for lunch and no one was there at Lynnwood. Not one car was parked in Lynnwood Panera. We compared it to Tucson Panera which is excellent. Stay away from Lynnwood wa because you could almost see through the bread and the tiniest sandwich I have ever had at a Panera!The sandwich was very thin the bread tiny and there was supposed to be basil. I went back and asked why basil was not present in the tiny sandwich. He said it's in the bread!! We were shocked because you certainly couldn't taste it in the thing tiny sandwich we had! Panera is fairly new to Missoula and is one of only three locations in Montana. It is located in the Target shopping center right off Reserve Street. There is plenty of parking and designated handicapped spaces for those who need them. They offer both dine-in, drive thru, and curbside pickup, making ordering a breeze. Thr first thing I notice whenever I walk in is how clean the restaurant is. The trashes are not overflowing and the tables are all wiped down after each customer leaves. The stations to fill up your drinks is constantly being wiped down and cleaned and the attention to detail shows. In the 20 minutes or so we were in here today, I watched the cashier wipe everything down at least three times. High five for that! Now for the food part of my review: Their food is pretty good! I have not had anything that I didn't like. My one complaint would be portion size. For the price you pay for the items on the menu, I would expect the portions to be bigger. I feel that issue stems from the corporate aspect of things, and not so much from the actual location itself. The quality of the food is definitely there, and you can taste the freshness in each of their menu items. The small portions certainly will not keep me from coming here, as they do have some really good items. We purchased a loaf of artisan bread a couple weeks ago to go with an Italian dinner we were making and it was delicious! I love that they bake their loaves of bread daily because it is a quick and easy to stop to pick some up as a compliment to dinner. One thing I didn't mention is there are charging outlets at each of the tables. I personally would probably never utilize them, but it is a great idea for those who will. I recently visited, and overall, the food was good, especially the mac and cheese. We got it for my toddler, and it was so yummy that I wished I had ordered it for myself! Both sandwiches we tried were also tasty. However, I did have a strange encounter with one of the employees. While I was walking with my toddler near our table (we weren't finished eating), the employee saw the table and got a bit upset about it not being cleaned up. He didn't realize I was right behind him when I mentioned that we weren't finished and would clean up. The interaction left me a little taken aback--it felt a bit rude. read more

My daughter went here while I was in the car with her. I should have had her drop me off somewhere. I think it took close to 25 minutes to get her so called "fresh" food. There is almost nothing here that is actually fresh or even not frozen. If you don't believe me look it up. The coffee was crap, the frozen microwaved Mac and Cheese was straight up slop. I got home and had a salad that didn't seem very large with nothing but powdered Parmesan and two cups of dressing. I called and the guy was nice and said they would fix it so I drove back to Panera. Great curbside service. Their online ordering was a bit of a hassle. Very disappointed with the portion size of their ten dollar broccoli Mac n cheese. Small. I have a pic which I hope to post. Also, the broccoli in that dish is squish. Frozen and unplentiful. Lots of cheesy sauce though. Gross. The sandwich was tasty but tiny as well for the price. Better options for sure in this valley. Really wish we had read the recent reviews first. We ordered 4 soups and a sandwich. One soup didn't come with any silverware so we asked for a spoon. We were rudely told to use a "to-go" plastic spoon. Found brown lettuce on an otherwise mostly good Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich (the tomato was pretty good!) The baguettes were mushy, not enough to call soggy, but ... spongy, maybe? Then we discovered that two of the soups (broccoli cheddar) had hairs in them. The employees tried to convince us that it was just the way this soup is. We regularly eat at Panera's in other locations around the country and have never experienced this. The employees took those two bowls away & gave us two new bowls. Same thing. A third bowl ended up having hair in it, too, so we picked it out to examine it. DEFINITELY hair. We wasted $50 because none of us could eat any of it after being so disgusted (repeatedly); even my iron-stomach son couldn't eat his soup. This was 100% disappointing. Travelers beware!
