After 53 years of having a different pizzeria as my favorite, Catanzaro's has taken over. This is the best pizza in Rhode Island. It's a Sicilian style: thick, chewy, and crunchy all at the same time. They use incredibly fresh toppings and a level of quality that you really can't get in most places. We got a cheese, pepperoni, and olive pie this time. They use California olives, which hardly anyone can get in Rhode Island. They have to buy pallets of them in order to have them on hand, and the taste is significantly different than any other olive you're going to get on a Rhode Island pie. Also, the pies are huge. Whatever size you're usually order,go down one size so that you are not overwhelmed. The good news is you'll get to eat more pizza for the rest of the week, and you won't be disappointed in that. This was the first time for me, and I was beyond excited. I run a local pizza group and so many of them told me this was THE BEST and I was ready to experience that for myself. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the counter, then the oven behind a wall of pizza boxes stacked high and ready for service. In front of that wall stood a smiling face. She warmly greeted us and let us know to seat ourselves in the dining room. The bartender was also the dining room server and came over to take care of us. She was a treasure. Every time she came over she brought with her a smile, an anecdote and loads of charm. We ordered a meatball each, then a medium pizza with pepperoni, half olive. While we waited, I checked out the space. At first the place seems small, but it has high ceilings and bright lights that show how much space is actually inside. Beautiful bar, tables of different seating sizes and some cozy booths tucked into the corner shaped perfectly for close conversation. The meatball took no time to arrive, served with a garlic breadstick made from Buono's bread, a local bakery favorite if you did not already know. The meatball was tender, it reminded me of the meatballs my grandfather used to make growing up, and that's when I knew I was in the right place. The sauce was chunky, thick enough to scoop onto the bread. I cleaned my plate, my mother would be proud. Then the moment I had been waiting for: the pizza. It arrived scalding hot and smelling like heaven. I could see the crispy cheese on the edges of the crust and the generosity of the toppings. I am not a patient woman when it comes to pizza so I braved the lava like sauce and took a bite. And understood why so many love Catanzaro's. The thick crust and tangy-sweet sauce combining with the cheese, pepperoni and olive created a moment of sensory excellence. It was a study in Sicilian done well and I can absolutely say the group choosing this spot for Best Sicilian in Rhode Island was well deserved. While we were eating, I noticed one of the owners, Anthony, by the bar. He made his way around to every table. Some people he knew, some he did not. But he spoke to everyone with the same good-natured, welcoming approach. The reputation of Italian hospitality is well known, and Anthony is a terrific continuation of that. When he got to our table, I had the chance to introduce myself to him and explain further what we're trying to do here with our pizza community group. He was immediately excited about what we are trying to build. He and his wife Lauren - great name - love the community we are growing. Outside of the rainy weather, I couldn't have asked for a better beginning to this Best of RI trip based on our group votes. Super busy place and it is one of, if not the best in pizza in Cranston. Thick tasty dough, cooked just enough to give it a crunch without a burn. The pizza sauce is amazing, they use all fresh ingredients. If you want your pepperoni to curl ask for it on top of the cheese. All sizes are rectangular pizzas. The spinach pies are really good! Another great meal here at Catanzaro's. It was a week night, so we were able to sit instead of having take out. The take out, even during the week, was just as incredible as on the weekends! It was a broccoli rabe, prosciutto and fresh mozzarella sandwich for me. The rabe and prosciutto were very good, but it was deli mozzarella in the sandwich instead of fresh. Tried something a little different from the normal circle pizza. They make square pizza. Called ahead and placed an order for pick up. Took a little longer than quoted. The lady at the front desk was super sweet and apologetic for the wait time. Ordered a small for two people. Was more than enough. Picked up a Pepperoni Pizza Square. The sauce had a nice tangy flavor. The pepperoni's were delicious and a well top off. Had a nice bar area, will definitely give it a try and have in house. read more

Cozy Family owned and managed business. This is the true meaning of Italian pizza place but has great sandwiches as well. A nice small bar inside with great mixed drinks. Great seating and super service. The pizza here is thick and crunchy on the bottom. The toppings are fresh and tasty. The salads come in a wonderful bread bowl. The spinach pies are also very good. This has got to be the best thick crust pizza in all of RI. We always ask for it to be well done. The crust is crispy and crunchy but not excessively heavy. The sauce has a nice tang to it, the cheese is delicious. Adding sausage and mushroom just adds to the overall flavor. The photo is 1/2 of the pizza, a whole is 2 of these. We usually order a salad have 2 pcs each and take the rest home. It freezes well and reheats in the oven and it tastes almost as good when fresh. Party of 4 Friday 4-24-2024. Walk in, no reservations, got lucky and grabbed a table. I'd say a majority of their business is take-out, but they do have a small dining area and bar. There was a steady line of customers picking up pizzas and takeout while we were there. Started with an Antipasto and a few drinks. The sangria is delicious. The pizza? Spectacular! I was really looking forward to Catanzaro's. The Pizza Lover's RI Facebook page raves about this places so I had high hopes. And I just don't get the appeal. The pizza is ok. The flavor is just meh, there needs to be more cheese and sauce. We ordered 3 different kinds so got a full range. Pepperoni was definitely the best. It's a little expensive but a the price isn't too bad. A medium pizza is a really good size. The interior is cool. An old pizza parlor kind of vibe but the pies just are average. My steak and cheese sandwich was very tasty. The service is slow but almost every restaurant has slow service so I shouldn't be surprised there. The scenery is kinda crappy not going to lie. I can only speak for their pizza, as I have not tried anything else. First, in my experience, the customer service has always been fast paced but good. The atmosphere is usually busy, with mostly take out orders. I have only ever ordered the pizza, which is a large Sicilian pie. The crust is the perfect level of crispy to hold the toppings. The sauce is tangy and very flavorful. Pepperoni being my favorite, it has a great ratio of cheese and the little curly pepperoni. Also, it's huge, and one large can feed several hungry teenagers. Wow!!! Best pizza I've had in years. I heard about this restaurant from a food critic's post on Facebook. We took a chance and tried it. We ordered a medium Meat Lover's Pizza. It was delicious!!! So many toppings, we couldn't finish the pizza and brought 6 squares home. The waitress did a fantastic job even though she was working solo. She never stop working and kept smiling the whole time. The fact that they're literally a mile away was a great thing. I ordered a medium pizza with chicken, bacon, and ricotta. (I would have loved spinach, mushrooms, and sausage but these are the sacrifices we make for our kids). The establishment is small but nice. They even have a liquor license. As a person who takes pizza very seriously, I'm pretty comfortable giving Catanzaro's the pizza peel (see what I did there) of approval. The crust is thick, just the right amount of doughy and crispy and the toppings are all fresh and tasty. We ordered like 5 or 6 toppings and the crust had no problem holding it up. Literally our favorite pizza place! We have tried bread sticks, bruschetta, wings and so many pizzas. We weren't huge fans of the wings, but everything else is so good omgggg.
