Sirloin steak

I know I'm in the minority when I say, this place is overrated. The staff and service were exceptional!! The restaurant itself looks like it hasn't been updated in over 30 years!! We sat at the bar and honestly the steak wasn't that good. Might go back and try a pasta dish but won't be rushing back.

The food at Twin Oaks is great. It's a classic Rhode Island restaurant. Good sized portions. We always have great service. Especially when Gene is our waiter. Lots of parking available and there's also valet.

The expectations for this place were both high & low. I was told this place is a RI staple but don't expect too much on the food. I found this to be pretty accurate as some of the food was solidly good & some of the food was mediocre. Knowing what to order is pretty key. What made this place memorable & likely why it is considered an institution was the unique interior with old wooden walls giving the area character, the very reasonable food & alcohol prices & most importantly the service was stellar. The server went above & beyond & was highly personable.

Come on who doesn't know Twin Oaks if you live in RI I'm sure you have visited or have heard of this place. I haven't been here in a few years and it was a treat to come back for a get together. For a Saturday there was no wait (a party if 4) we went at 1:00 pm and the place was already busy. I even found a parking which can be hard at times. For starters we got a charcuterie board and as you can see it was full of meat, I do feel it could have had more cheese but still a great spread. I went with the baked stuffed shrimp with mashed potatoes but this plate goes back in the oven to toast the mashed potatoes a bit. The stuffing is so good in itself. I didn't have a drink but my daughter and friend had the classic margarita which they thought was surprisingly strong ( they are not cheap with the alcohol). I do wonder why they have always only had male waiters. The prices are a bit higher but the quality of food is worth it. It's a busy place so fine with patience. I don't believe they take reservations but I could be wrong. Dress is casual but some do dress up a bit.

We came to Twin Oaks for a birthday dinner, and the parking lot and lobby were both packed. I ordered an Old Fashioned, which was okay, though it was missing the maraschino cherry. For appetizers, we had the calamari and caprese salad. The calamari was pretty good, though I'm not sure about the banana pepper sauce. The caprese salad was fine, but I wish it hadn't been served on a bed of lettuce and that the basil wasn't shredded. For the main course, we tried the seared prime rib and surf and turf. The steak was a bit cold and dry, and the shrimp wasn't great. The prime rib had way too much fat. Overall, it was an okay experience. For the price, the food didn't quite live up to the hype.

Growing up this was the place to be.. always good service and good company .. great menu options - variety of items to please everyone. It has its busy times but is spread out enough so it's not overwhelming. Cranston/Rhode islanders rave about it- I've had my good times and ehh times but always come back for more !

Colossal shrimp, you have to order by the piece

What is the dress code? We are going to the Roger Williams Jack O Lantern Spectacular and wanted to have dinner before we go. We would probably be wearing jeans. is this acceptable?

For sure!

The meat is sooooo juicy, tender and flavorful! Next would be obviously their pizza and their salad! (please note: their salads is topped to the BRIM! And if good enough to share with 2-3 people) Depending on the day in the mood would determine which pizza I get my top 3 are/ Gold digger, the San Genaro, and the Marilyn Monroe/Fign' a (I can't decide LOL) don't let the commotion of Rolfe square Seder you from visiting, there is plenty of parking in the back, the restaurant is such a vibe with the decor (learn some Italian LOL) and hilarious placemats. And lastly, what I think is so cool and unique about this place is their Themed Weekend specials! They always have fun drinks and witty names for the items. Oh and don't forget to swing by the dessert case on your way out- they have LEMON TIRAMISU!!!! You heard right! LEMON TIRAMISU!!

She treated each person with patience and respect, and most impressive of all, she remembered everyones orders without writing a single thing down! Our group was seated in a semi-private room very close to the entrance. This was perfect for us to be able to all converse. the food was delicious. I ordered a special, Pasta Rustica, which consisted of pasta with a pink sauce, proscuitto, chicken, and shrimp, topped with mozzarella. It was so incredibly delicious and the portion size was large enough that in addition to eating my fill at dinner, I also had enough to take home for two lunches. Did I mention the bread? Marchetti's has wonderful Italian bread - crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, and they pair it with garlic dipping oil. Yum! Entrees are also served with salad, and the house dressing is really good! I would go back to Marchetti's in a heartbeat. Pro tip - Make a reservation as they do get very crowded at peak times. Thanks to Marchetti's and to our amazing server, Lana, for an outstanding dinner experience for our whole group!

In a world where restaurants seem to either reinvent themselves every six months or completely fall apart after a few good years, Antonio's just keeps doing what it does well. Good food, solid portions, professional service, and that old-school Italian restaurant atmosphere that Rhode Island somehow still manages to preserve better than almost anywhere else. My wife and I went recently for dinner and had one of those meals where everything just flowed the way you want it to. We started with the fried calamari, which was excellent. Light, crispy, not drowning in grease, and actually seasoned properly. A lot of places phone calamari in because it's such a standard appetizer, but this tasted fresh and well executed. The hot peppers mixed in gave it a nice kick without taking over the plate. We also got a couple espresso martinis because it feels almost illegal to eat Italian food in Cranston without at least considering one. For dinner, I went with the chicken parmigiana after hearing people rave about it for years, and honestly, they weren't wrong. The chicken was tender, perfectly breaded, and the sauce had that slow-cooked flavor that tastes like somebody's grandmother has been guarding the recipe since the Reagan administration. My wife ordered the seafood fra diavolo, which came loaded with shrimp, clams, mussels, and enough garlic to keep vampires away for the rest of the week. Spicy without being ridiculous. The portions were generous too. Not "food challenge" oversized, just satisfying. Dessert was tiramisu for the table because at that point you're already committed to the experience. Really good balance of espresso flavor and mascarpone without feeling overly heavy. Sometimes tiramisu can feel like eating sweet drywall. This wasn't that. Service was also great all night. Attentive without hovering. Drinks stayed filled, plates disappeared quickly, and the pacing of the meal felt relaxed but organized. You never felt rushed, but you also weren't sitting there wondering if your waiter had moved to another state midway through dinner. The place itself has that classic Rhode Island Italian restaurant energy. Comfortable, a little lively, people talking loudly across tables, waiters who look like they've worked there forever, and the smell of garlic and red sauce hitting you the second you walk in. It's not trendy or trying to become some minimalist foodie experiment. Thank God for that.

The host seemed surprised to see us despite being right on time for our reservation but we were seated right away after a quick exchange. Our server Erik came right over with a smile and continued to be a consummate professional throughout the evening. I wish I could have him be my server everywhere I go. We started the night with some seasonal cocktails. The spiced pear old fashioned was to die for. Complete with a solitary large cube and balanced flavors it was delicious. Our table had veal parm, linguine and white clam, and lasagna. Each dish was fresh and executed perfectly. It's a garlic lovers paradise but never overpowering, in a way any Nonna would approve. For dessert we split a slice of limoncello cake. The cake was so light and fluffy it was like eating air. Even the frosting was light enough where it didn't feel like we were stuffing ourselves to finish it. It's a smaller place so it gets busy quickly and can be a little loud. I would highly recommended a reservation as I don't think you'd have much luck getting a table on a weekend. There was a bar area with some seats but it's probably not easy to get a seat there either. As the old adage goes, if a restaurant is full all the time there's a good reason why ;)
