I just love their designs. I have received nothing but the best customer service. I bought a wedding band from here during the pandemic, they custom made my size, a size that they didn't have in stock and rush shipped it to me so that it would get to me in time for the ceremony (this was back when everything related to shipping was delayed). When I had to get a small repair on the band a year later they resized and repaired it free of charge. I am definitely a loyal customer now. It is one thing just to love the aesthics of a brand, it is something special to have such confidence in their product and service as well. So I'm seeing all these reviews about the staff being "racist" and profiling their customers. I came directly here after admiring their jewelry from afar on Instagram. I here on a hot rainy day, in business attire as I showed up after work, and still the woman of color I am. They were moderately busy. I was immediately greeted as soon as someone made eye contact with me and was treated very pleasantly. Also the staff was super knowledgeable of their pieces; she knew exactly what pieces I was talking about with minimal description. I was allowed to try on everything and anything I asked to try on and no one "followed" me around the store. My first visit i ended up buying their sweet nothing bracelet for my mom and two Mother of pearl love tokens so my mom and i could match. She loved it! After such a positive experience, i decided to order the sweet nothing chain with two small personalized charms for in-store pickup. I went to pick up on a Saturday and expected to have to wait. It was VERY VERY BUSY. An associate approached me immediately and helped me out. I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. They put me in a difficult position where they had the item and they had my money with no resolution offered. I almost called my lawyer as this looked like straight theft. I spoke with several people both in the store and in customer service and was given multiple different unprofessional and disrespectful "explanations" as to what happened to my order. Finally three weeks later they randomly popped up with my item, no apology and no valid explanation given. I bought a necklace for my wife for our 10 year anniversary. Unfortunately, after having it for a day, it broke. We returned the necklace to have it repaired. Upon receiving the necklace for repair, Catbird informed me that it will take 2-4 weeks to repair. At week 3, I messaged Catbird to check on the status. I received an email informing me that I will have to wait another 2 weeks. This means that they are 1 week behind schedule. I wait another 2 weeks and no answer. I then wait another 5 days before messaging and calling. So now, I have been delayed twice for the repair!!! I just want my refund and be done with all of this. I live abroad and I have been trying to call. All I get is an answering machine. I tried using the chat function and all I get is an automated message. I just want to this nightmare to be over!!! Please just give me my refund! After 1.5 hours of continuously calling and being forwarded to voicemail, I finally got through. I was then told that I could only get a 15% refund... Only after strongly expressing my discontent and again, bringing up all of the records of the delays was I given a full refund. Catbird, you have really dropped the ball! Even after delaying things TWICE, you had the gall to only offer a 15% refund. 2 delays followed by some vague answer about how it will be ready soon!!! The problem was that after I didn't really jive with any of the pulled rings, she didn't seem interested in showing me anything else or figure out with me what might work. My old review was for the Bedford Ave shop - idk how it ended up here, but it doesn't belong here since I'm here to echo all the other reviewers on how the old location/staff was much better than the quality now. After a decades long relationship, I'm breaking up with Catbird. They seem to have gone corporate in their staffing and policies. I recently bought the Evening Star bracelet - it's like a $600 bracelet - and I have a small wrist and ordered the 5"-6" but didn't like how there's an inch of bracelet that's wasted by the extender, making it look kinda...cheap. Since they sell extenders separately, it'd make more sense to have more bracelet and less extender but that's a separate matter. The real issue was that I went in to exchange it for a 6"-7" bracelet bc I'd rather have a jeweler reduce the size of the extender/chain to fit my wrist - to which the salesgirl responded that Catbird has a list of jewelers who do their repairs and could prob help, however if someone else did adjust it, Catbird can't do anything if something happens to it, which is COMPLETELY reasonable. I agreed 100% and then went home, which is when I got a better look at the bracelet. This new one I have is kinda dull and not as shiny as the other ones I've seen so I went in a couple days later to see if I could exchange it for another one and the manager who was working that day made me feel terrible. They didn't have another one in stock and she said something about not ordering another one bc if I wasn't happy with this one there was no guarantee I'd like the one they would order. She offered to clean it for me bc that might make a difference but I knew it wouldn't make a difference bc the diamonds are cloudy themselves. So I asked what other options there were and I even had to suggest myself that maybe I could stop in when to see if they had any others, but then she mentioned cleaning AGAIN. So that's pretty much where we left it off, me feeling bad about asking to even exchange it for a new one, her repeating not ordering a new one, me telling her I felt bad about even asking, her telling me again that it might make a difference if we cleaned it, and then me leaving with a $600 bracelet that I am less than thrilled about. Also in the package, randomly, were two halves of a plastic ball point pen (with no ink or insides), a one-page crossword puzzle and a card with some "sayings." I am not sure what to make of it all and will likely try to return the earrings. I have been a loyal catbird customer for years but I will never purchase anything from then again after my recent experience. I damaged my engagement ring accidentally, which I admit was my fault. I sent it in to their repairs department following the instructions laid out on their website. A diamond had fallen out of my ring when it was damaged. I was very careful when packing my repair to be shipped. The ring and diamond were secure in a small, ziploc sealed jewelry bag. I placed the bag inside of a ring box. I added packing paper for cushioning. I made sure to tape every edge of the box closed. I am certain that if they received an in tact box, nothing should have been missing. They claimed the diamond was not in the package. They claimed they could not repair the ring, but recommended a different jeweler that could. What professional jeweler is unable to repair their own jewelry? They did nothing to replace the diamond that they clearly lost in their own unpacking process, other than say "sorry we could not find it." That is UNACCEPTABLE. Catbird is a hugely popular company that could have easily made it right by replacing the missing stone and offering to make the repair even if it was at a cost. Now I have to seek out a new jeweler to make the repair and will have to replace the diamond at my own cost. Catbird has lost a customer and referral source with this experience. read more

Catbird doesn't include shipping info to track orders, their customer service number just says they aren't available and hangs up on you, their email service takes days to get a response, and the chat assistant responded with cryptic messages like "You must do whatever you think is best." I ordered an engagement ring from Catbird, and knowing I was likely to get the size wrong, I specifically asked whether the ring I was ordering could be resized. Fast forward a few months and I've proposed with the ring and need to get it resized from a 6 to a 7. I'm now told that resizing is only possible within .75 of the original size - something that had never been mentioned before. It took me reaching to Catbird's Instagram account to actually get someone to look at this case (they didn't pick up their phone or reply to emails, the chat response gave me the canned .75 response). When their "customer experience manager" finally emails me offering an exchange, it takes them another week to reply to my follow up question. It's been a month and a half since I proposed and my partner still can't wear her ring comfortably. Bad policies I can forgive to an extent - absolutely abysmal communication I cannot. A while back I got sick of wearing fake rings that would tarnish or turn my skin green and I decided I'm too old for that, so Catbird has been a great shy intro to real gold rings. They're famous for their dainty rings that you can stack, wear on each finger, or wear as midis. I love my thumb and pinky rings and every time I go in I'm tempted to add another to my collection. For sure you can find these cheaper elsewhere, but it's not easy, and I know the quality is great here so it's worth a few bucks extra for a ring I wear literally every day from morning til night (and through the night and in the shower and while washing dishes). This ring is supposedly 14k gold, however, after wearing it for a month it has turned my finger grayish/green. I have never had this problem with any of my other gold rings from other retailers. In addition to the discoloration of my skin, the ring was entirely too small for my finger. After discussing these issues with the catbird customer service team, they told me these issues were not possible and refused to let me return the ring. I am displeased with the ring, and the customer service- especially considering the price of the ring is $1,280 before tax and shipping. (The ring is also much smaller in person, and not worth $1,280.) Catbird has a nice aesthetic, and delicate designs. Customer service for Catbird is very good, I have had other issues and they have resolved (positively) each and every one of them. As soon as we walked in a busy counter girl practically goes around the person who she's ringing up and asks "how can I help you?" Or something of the sort. At that immediate moment my mood turned sour because yet again based on how I look I am being profiled. I'm about to walk up to her when another customer walks up to her to pay. My boyfriend waits in line and I ask him to walk over to me to check out the jewelry. He goes back in line because he is so used to being treated this way that it does not even bother him anymore. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. The clerk asks me again after she finished ringing the customer up. She asks me "how can I help you" but this time her face is screwed up... just because I was looking around. And then more people walk in. But these people seem to get a pass from her because they're white or Asian. And today it was too much for me. The very first woman that greeted me as I came in helped me try on rings and wasnt the slightest bit annoyed when I chose none of them. She then helped me pick out a locket and was nothing but SO kind and helpful throughout my indecisive process. Even as I flitted about the store picking up little treasures here and there she waited patiently as I stacked my pile on the counter. I was so happy to experience the beautiful, delicate and welcoming Catbird that I've grown to love on the 'gram. I was in a state of euphoria and blackout-inducing excitement to be there, so I'm totally blanking on the sales person's name, but she had short brown hair with a bit of curl, cute little barrettes in it, an angelic face and very sweet disposition. I stopped by Catbird's popup in LA at Reformation and the salespeople were extremely rude. I know it was insanely busy but they were barking orders at customers to ask us to move since we were "in the way" of the checkout. She literally said "you need to move so we can check people out here." No excuse me or please or anything. Their setup is a logistical nightmare as it had the checkout, welding station and their jewelry display on one table so it was impossible for more than 2 people to look at the jewelry display at a time. I'd take my business elsewhere. read more

After initially receiving an email containing an error message instead of an e-gift card, the gift card eventually arrived four hours later along with a 15% off coupon. I'm still a bit hesitant about Catbird after my experiences and the other reviews I've seen on here, but I'm willing to give this brand another shot. read more

TL;dr Catbird is racist, don't buy your jewelry from them. I went to Catbird to look at a gold chain bracelet that I wanted to get "zapped" on my wrist. I walked in and picked up the bracelet to look at it and the sales associate told me to put it down and to not touch anything even though the store was full of white girls all picking things up and handling them, yet I was the only one who was told not to touch anything until a sales associate could come "help" me. Then she said there wasn't anyone available right now to "help me" and then she said something about how she had to "watch" over the merchandise. It was very clear and very obvious that she was insinuating that I was trying to steal the bracelet and by saying there wasn't an available sales associate that she meant there isn't anyone to monitor me to make sure I was stealing and that I should exit the store. The store was literally packed full of white girls all handling and touching and trying on the jewelry, yet I (a woman of color) was the only one singled out and told not to touch the merchandise and there that wasn't an associate who was available to help me. I have never felt so humiliated in my life. This business is racist and clearly thinks that any person of color who walks into their store is trying to steal their merchandise. Please patronize another jewelry store that doesn't discriminate against people of color. UPDATE: They deleted my comment on their Instagram page calling them out on racially profiling their customers. Also if you search through previous reviews, there is at least 6 other reviews that have called them out on racial profiling/policing /refusing to serve customers who are ethnic minorities. I've attached the other reviews that have also called Catbird out on racial profiling. This is 2019, there should zero tolerance for racism in Brooklyn. read more
