I placed an in store order and paid upfront for jewelry. After waiting the required 7 weeks with no updates on my order, I reached out and was told by customer service that "the ball got dropped" on my order and that "they don't have it". They couldn't tell me a date that they would have it and they would not offer me a refund. They put me in a difficult position where they had the item and they had my money with no resolution offered. I almost called my lawyer as this looked like straight theft. I spoke with several people both in the store and in customer service and was given multiple different unprofessional and disrespectful "explanations" as to what happened to my order. Finally three weeks later they randomly popped up with my item, no apology and no valid explanation given. I just love their designs. I have received nothing but the best customer service. I bought a wedding band from here during the pandemic, they custom made my size, a size that they didn't have in stock and rush shipped it to me so that it would get to me in time for the ceremony (this was back when everything related to shipping was delayed). When I had to get a small repair on the band a year later they resized and repaired it free of charge. I am definitely a loyal customer now. It is one thing just to love the aesthics of a brand, it is something special to have such confidence in their product and service as well. TERRIBLE experience at this place - there should be additional training done for their staff. We went for a very special occasion - my sister was buying jewelry for her bridesmaids to mark her wedding and the sales person ruined it. The sales associate kept asking me for my ring size (even though I told her that's why we were there - I didn't know it), didn't provide any suggestions when we told her budget, nor did she offer anything to help. She was just there to provide problems at every turn which ruined our experience. Do NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION - Rockefeller is much nicer!! For example, I mentioned I liked the rose gold rings and the sales associate basically said there's no rose gold rings in my size. So after a beat, my sister was like, is there any rose gold bracelets? It honestly felt like the sales person didn't want us to buy anything and we both left feeling very upset since it was a very special wedding weekend. My sister had gone to the Rockefeller location which had amazing service and this was the worst in comparison. So I'm seeing all these reviews about the staff being "racist" and profiling their customers. I came directly here after admiring their jewelry from afar on Instagram. I here on a hot rainy day, in business attire as I showed up after work, and still the woman of color I am. They were moderately busy. I was immediately greeted as soon as someone made eye contact with me and was treated very pleasantly. Also the staff was super knowledgeable of their pieces; she knew exactly what pieces I was talking about with minimal description. I was allowed to try on everything and anything I asked to try on and no one "followed" me around the store. My first visit i ended up buying their sweet nothing bracelet for my mom and two Mother of pearl love tokens so my mom and i could match. She loved it! After such a positive experience, i decided to order the sweet nothing chain with two small personalized charms for in-store pickup. I went to pick up on a Saturday and expected to have to wait. It was VERY VERY BUSY. An associate approached me immediately and helped me out. I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. I bought a necklace for my wife for our 10 year anniversary. Unfortunately, after having it for a day, it broke. We returned the necklace to have it repaired. Upon receiving the necklace for repair, Catbird informed me that it will take 2-4 weeks to repair. At week 3, I messaged Catbird to check on the status. I received an email informing me that I will have to wait another 2 weeks. This means that they are 1 week behind schedule. I wait another 2 weeks and no answer. I then wait another 5 days before messaging and calling. So now, I have been delayed twice for the repair!!! I just want my refund and be done with all of this. I live abroad and I have been trying to call. All I get is an answering machine. I tried using the chat function and all I get is an automated message. I just want to this nightmare to be over!!! Please just give me my refund! After 1.5 hours of continuously calling and being forwarded to voicemail, I finally got through. I was then told that I could only get a 15% refund... Only after strongly expressing my discontent and again, bringing up all of the records of the delays was I given a full refund. Catbird, you have really dropped the ball! Even after delaying things TWICE, you had the gall to only offer a 15% refund. 2 delays followed by some vague answer about how it will be ready soon!!! My wife and I are very disappointed to say the least. If you find the ring here, great! But my fiance and I were dissapointed. Came with my fiance to look at wedding bands.The person we were paired with was friendly and not pushy. But she didn't seem very interested in helping us find the perfect ring. When you make an appoinment you have a chance to say your price point and style ideas, and then they pull a couple rings for you to get started with. The problem was that after I didn't really jive with any of the pulled rings, she didn't seem interested in showing me anything else or figure out with me what might work. I asked to see a couple others that I had seen on the website and she pulled those. But no suggestions or helpful questions to guide me. I also don't know a hell of a lot about gold, etc but I felt like the rings were more cheaper feeling in person than they seem on the website. At least the majority of the ones I took a look at. My old review was for the Bedford Ave shop - idk how it ended up here, but it doesn't belong here since I'm here to echo all the other reviewers on how the old location/staff was much better than the quality now. After a decades long relationship, I'm breaking up with Catbird. They seem to have gone corporate in their staffing and policies. I recently bought the Evening Star bracelet - it's like a $600 bracelet - and I have a small wrist and ordered the 5"-6" but didn't like how there's an inch of bracelet that's wasted by the extender, making it look kinda...cheap. Since they sell extenders separately, it'd make more sense to have more bracelet and less extender but that's a separate matter. The real issue was that I went in to exchange it for a 6"-7" bracelet bc I'd rather have a jeweler reduce the size of the extender/chain to fit my wrist - to which the salesgirl responded that Catbird has a list of jewelers who do their repairs and could prob help, however if someone else did adjust it, Catbird can't do anything if something happens to it, which is COMPLETELY reasonable. I agreed 100% and then went home, which is when I got a better look at the bracelet. This new one I have is kinda dull and not as shiny as the other ones I've seen so I went in a couple days later to see if I could exchange it for another one and the manager who was working that day made me feel terrible. They didn't have another one in stock and she said something about not ordering another one bc if I wasn't happy with this one there was no guarantee I'd like the one they would order. She offered to clean it for me bc that might make a difference but I knew it wouldn't make a difference bc the diamonds are cloudy themselves. So I asked what other options there were and I even had to suggest myself that maybe I could stop in when to see if they had any others, but then she mentioned cleaning AGAIN. So that's pretty much where we left it off, me feeling bad about asking to even exchange it for a new one, her repeating not ordering a new one, me telling her I felt bad about even asking, her telling me again that it might make a difference if we cleaned it, and then me leaving with a $600 bracelet that I am less than thrilled about. Also in the package, randomly, were two halves of a plastic ball point pen (with no ink or insides), a one-page crossword puzzle and a card with some "sayings." I am not sure what to make of it all and will likely try to return the earrings. I have been a loyal catbird customer for years but I will never purchase anything from then again after my recent experience. I damaged my engagement ring accidentally, which I admit was my fault. I sent it in to their repairs department following the instructions laid out on their website. A diamond had fallen out of my ring when it was damaged. I was very careful when packing my repair to be shipped. The ring and diamond were secure in a small, ziploc sealed jewelry bag. I placed the bag inside of a ring box. I added packing paper for cushioning. I made sure to tape every edge of the box closed. I am certain that if they received an in tact box, nothing should have been missing. They claimed the diamond was not in the package. They claimed they could not repair the ring, but recommended a different jeweler that could. What professional jeweler is unable to repair their own jewelry? They did nothing to replace the diamond that they clearly lost in their own unpacking process, other than say "sorry we could not find it." That is UNACCEPTABLE. Catbird is a hugely popular company that could have easily made it right by replacing the missing stone and offering to make the repair even if it was at a cost. Now I have to seek out a new jeweler to make the repair and will have to replace the diamond at my own cost. Catbird has lost a customer and referral source with this experience. read more

I ordered jewelry from Catbird and it was the worst experience you can imagine. I paid for overnight shipping. The merchandise never arrived. Catbird doesn't include shipping info to track orders, their customer service number just says they aren't available and hangs up on you, their email service takes days to get a response, and the chat assistant responded with cryptic messages like "You must do whatever you think is best." I'm now told that resizing is only possible within .75 of the original size - something that had never been mentioned before. It took me reaching to Catbird's Instagram account to actually get someone to look at this case (they didn't pick up their phone or reply to emails, the chat response gave me the canned .75 response). When their "customer experience manager" finally emails me offering an exchange, it takes them another week to reply to my follow up question. I emailed customer service and the contacted me within a day and told me to bring it in to the boutique to exchange. When I arrived and told the same person my story, she was more than helpful and measured me for the perfect size. I love rings and because I'm not rolling in dough, I'm usually looking for great jewelry on a budget. A while back I got sick of wearing fake rings that would tarnish or turn my skin green and I decided I'm too old for that, so Catbird has been a great shy intro to real gold rings. They're famous for their dainty rings that you can stack, wear on each finger, or wear as midis. I love my thumb and pinky rings and every time I go in I'm tempted to add another to my collection. For sure you can find these cheaper elsewhere, but it's not easy, and I know the quality is great here so it's worth a few bucks extra for a ring I wear literally every day from morning til night (and through the night and in the shower and while washing dishes). Plus, the ladies who work there are always so nice and helpful, and they allow you to bring the ring back within a few days if the fit isn't right and exchange for the right size, which is clutch because sometimes it's hard to know until you wear it for a while and do stuff with your hands! I have Clara's dream ring, sapphire. I decided to shop with catbird after hearing positive reviews from friends. I am terribly frustrated with the customer service and quality of ring. This ring is supposedly 14k gold, however, after wearing it for a month it has turned my finger grayish/green. I have never had this problem with any of my other gold rings from other retailers. In addition to the discoloration of my skin, the ring was entirely too small for my finger. After discussing these issues with the catbird customer service team, they told me these issues were not possible and refused to let me return the ring. I am displeased with the ring, and the customer service- especially considering the price of the ring is $1,280 before tax and shipping. (The ring is also much smaller in person, and not worth $1,280.) Catbird has a nice aesthetic, and delicate designs. I just had the worst experience walking into Catbird. Catbird just racially profiled me and my boyfriend. I had called to reserve a locket and chain, a Mother's Day gift for my mom. I'm a 5'4 Spanish girl, I'm in my work clothes. My boyfriend is with me, he's 5'5 and Spanish. As soon as we walked in a busy counter girl practically goes around the person who she's ringing up and asks "how can I help you?" Or something of the sort. At that immediate moment my mood turned sour because yet again based on how I look I am being profiled. I'm about to walk up to her when another customer walks up to her to pay. My boyfriend waits in line and I ask him to walk over to me to check out the jewelry. He goes back in line because he is so used to being treated this way that it does not even bother him anymore. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. The clerk asks me again after she finished ringing the customer up. She asks me "how can I help you" but this time her face is screwed up... just because I was looking around. And then more people walk in. But these people seem to get a pass from her because they're white or Asian. And today it was too much for me. I ordered a custom sized ring on 7/29/2021. The lead time was 4-6 weeks and I got the ring in late August of 2021. On 8/3/2023, I contacted Catbird's customer service to ask if my ring was still in warranty, because it looked as if the center diamond was damaged. They told me it was no longer under warranty. I understand they have a strict 2 year warranty policy, but I was only a few days late contacting them about it. What was frustrating was the fact that I didn't even pick up the ring until late August, so I feel it still should have been covered under their warranty. The thing is, if customer service showed some empathy and was a little nicer about the situation, it would have been fine. But, if you read through the reviews here, you will see that Catbird's customer service team is not great. I have spent thousands of dollars at Catbird over the last couple of years so I find this situation unacceptable. read more

Okay, after reading reviews I was SUPER nervous to experience Catbird after being a longtime insta-stalker, I mean, follower. I *did* visit 5 years ago, but I really dont remember the experience as it was super crowded and I quickly bought a midi ring and left. ANYWAY this past experience I will not soon forget. I visited their store on black friday...BLACK. FRIDAY, yall! I have never been treated so kindly and so patiently. The very first woman that greeted me as I came in helped me try on rings and wasnt the slightest bit annoyed when I chose none of them. She then helped me pick out a locket and was nothing but SO kind and helpful throughout my indecisive process. Even as I flitted about the store picking up little treasures here and there she waited patiently as I stacked my pile on the counter. I was so happy to experience the beautiful, delicate and welcoming Catbird that I've grown to love on the 'gram. I was in a state of euphoria and blackout-inducing excitement to be there, so I'm totally blanking on the sales person's name, but she had short brown hair with a bit of curl, cute little barrettes in it, an angelic face and very sweet disposition. Please tell her I said hi and that she really helped me have the best experience in the store. 10/10 will be back! read more
