I've been wanting to come here for the longest. Talks of a place where you can come and get a slice of pizza (because who doesn't love pizza) a drink and views is always a yes for me. I came on a Wednesday, early evening and the parking was plenty. It was quiet and there wasn't much of a crowd. The views were amazing! You'll see planes landing and taking off while you're there. Surprisingly it wasn't as loud as I though it would be. As far and the food and drinks go, the line was short and fast. The Boozy Frosé was absolutely delicious, especially on a warm breezy day. It wasn't too "boozy" and it wasn't too sweet either, just right. The slice of pepperoni pizza was a tad burned and honestly wasn't the best pizza that I ever had, but it didn't take away from the experience. Catboat is a cool spot to visit and be near the water. I went on Juneteenth and the line was rather long but moved quickly. The menu is small and easy to read which makes orders go by fairly quickly. I ordered two slices of pepperoni along with a Mango Slushi. They give you a pager to come back and pick up your food. There is plenty of seating. Indoor seating, outside seating, outside under an awning seating, and even outside benches in the grass closer to the water. It was really windy as the planes were coming in landing every 10 minutes or so which is also cool to see. About 5-10 minutes go by and our pizza is ready. Nice and warm. Easy to cut as they have a fork and knife. I loved the cheese they used as you could really taste the flavor and they had good pepperoni's. If I ever want to go see the plane landing and taking off, Catboat is my new spot. Plenty of parking and not as busy as some of the other areas near the airport. read more

All though I've lived in nova all my life I recently just found out about this place thru a friend. Wow - talk about waterfront views (can see DC) with easy access. Going on a Sunday it was definitely packed as everyone was enjoying the weather but after waiting around a bit we were able to grab a table. The menu was more on the limited side but as we were with kids the pizza made it easy for everyone. I would say it was a disappointment that there were only 2 flavors (Pepperoni & Mushroom) and was also inconvenient that they don't serve full pies and had to order individual slices to share. The beer selection was awesome and our group was raving about the wine slushis. Its a great place for families with kids to come enjoy the outdoors and relax as there's ample field areas for children to run/play and adults to enjoy decent food/vibes as well. read more

To be honest, I wasn't a big fan of Sonny's Pizza, the parent company for this outlet, due to a failed experiment with rapini. However, I was walking along the water and decided to check this place out. The location is substantial, and while the breeze was chilly at the moment I stopped by, there was ample space indoors and on an outdoor deck to gaze over the water. Only a handful of slice options were available, so I just got a cheese slice. It has a mix of melted cheese and some sprinkled on thereafter, and the crust is light and fluffy. All I got was a slice of pizza and I waited 30 minutes for an overpriced slice of pizza in a place that you can just bring your own. YELP strikes again! This ultra cool spot popped up on my Yelp feed and I immediately bookmarked it. This past Saturday, we found the perfect opportunity to enjoy the gorgeous weather at Catboat Pizza Bar. You can eat under their covered tables or you bring your own blanket or folding chairs. We chose to bring out our own chairs and made a makeshift picnic out of the day.. Lol! It has a large adjacent grassy area off of the restaurant that bumps up right next to the Potomac River. Located right across from Reagan National Airport, I've always enjoyed watching planes take off and land. Catboat has the take off point of view. Once you order your pizza and adult beverages, they will find you by your number and deliver your food. Service was great even though we were chillin in the grass! The pan pizza was excellent and the frozen drinks were refreshing! Could use a touch more wine but refreshing just the same :)! Ended up here with friends while I was visiting the area! This looks like a great place to spend some time when the weather is pleasant, looking out over the general river area of DC. You can see most of the well known monuments in the distance, see people boating, and just do some people watching. The day we went it was DEADLY hot, but they do have their outdoor areas covered and some fans running, so that surely helps. I would much rather come back in the fall. For the pizza, it was pretty good! You don't have a ton of options for toppings here, but luckily, my favorite pizza is a pepperoni and mushroom anyway, and that is one of the options. They definitely do not short change you on the toppings here, and the slice is very cheesy. That said, good luck picking up the slice to eat it like normal pizza, and the plasticware given to cut it and eat it that way... worthless. It can't cut all the way through. My overall thought, crust to cheese and toppings ratio was off, but clearly a good quality cheese and pep. We were so excited to try Catboat since we live in OT, but we left pretty disappointed. We biked there from our house and it was super crowded which we thought was a good sign. The line took us about 45 minutes to order and then we were told pizza would be another hour wait. My partner and I felt like this should've been communicated to customers while they were in line. We ended up just getting drinks, popcorn, and ice cream sandwiches--all of which are prepackaged. The sandwiches were $6 each and had horrible freezer burn from melting and refreezing. This place was the perfect mix of a great outdoor vibe with a view and a casual yet yummy pizza spot. We got one of each of their pizza slices (cheese, mushroom, and pepperoni) and their wine, and I was surprised to see the pizza slices were only ~$5 each and were pretty tasty. They also had other snacks like popcorn and ice cream. We went on a beautiful Friday right around sunset so they were obviously busy, we ended up waiting around 30 mins for our pizza but the view was so nice we didn't notice. Only thing I'd warn about is there were a lot of bugs here, luckily we didn't get bit but definitely felt like we needed to shower after we got home. A lovely little (physically) hidden gem but seemingly very popular gem! Stopped here during a bike ride with friends as we heard of great things! There were so many people once we got there but saw that the line was moving pretty quickly and so we decided to stay and check it out! The menu is pretty simple but everything was great! They are individual pizzas with some fries and a few other things! They also have a drink menu with some frozen slushies both alcoholic and non-Alcoholic! They have ample seating on a deck with covering, an indoor section and then I believe some people just brought their own blankets and chairs to just sit on the lawn in front of the water! We sat on the outdoor deck and they brought us the pizzas to our table fairly quickly for how many people were there and it was nice and hot! One thing we did realize is that they can run out of things for the day so you likely don't want to wait too late in the day to go. They do have a gluten free menu, but that was the pizza they were out of that day so we didn't get to try it but we do plan to go back and try it again! read more

It was a full crowd on a Sunday afternoon, the nice weather made everyone want to come out for a meal near the water. The slices of pizza were good, somewhat hard to cut with the plastic cutlery so we gave up and used our fingers. No one was inside that day but I don't blame them, the weather was great for outdoor eating. Plenty of seats, and folks found their way to the grassy areas as well. Catboat has been on my list for a WHILE - very glad I finally got to check it out. This is a wonderful spot for a casual drink, pizza, and wonderful views from the Alexandria shoreline. There are several places to sit and enjoy - you could bring your own chairs and sit in the grassy area along the water, sit in the outdoor covered patio bar area, or inside in a small dining area with AC. Not surprisingly, the outdoor bar area is most popular because it is the most comfortable and gets the best view of the shoreline., The restaurant itself is pretty small - just a booth with two register stations. They offer a variety of canned beers/ciders for $7-8, frozen cocktail drinks for $10-12, and large slices of pizza which is made in a detached kitchen area. One slice of pizza + a couple of beers was absolutely perfect for a nice happy hour. The best part of this spot is the outdoor scenery - the view of the water along with the planes taking off from Regan Airport is second to none. Five stars just for the environment and location alone. We got lucky in that it wasn't overly crowded when we visited but I've heard that it can get very packed. I recommend bringing your own beach/camping chairs just in case all the seats in the bar area are taken. Pro tip: While you're here, take a stroll around the docks to see the awesome boats that are docked nearby. read more

There are some chairs available, but it seems like a good idea to bring your own and pick your own spot. They also have wine and pizza available. Walk onto the deck, order at the counter, and find a table or picnic on the grass, waiting for your food to arrive. We ordered two rounds of froses (they have a non-alcoholic mango one too), pepperoni pizza and mushroom pizza (they are square), and ice cream sandwiches. Everything was chill, easy, and good! Now, let's talk rations: I charted a course for pizza, but alas, it was more landlubber than legend a crunchy-bottomed, burnt, oven-frozen pie that I'd rate a humble 6 bells outta 10.
