First time visiting this establishment, and I must say, I enjoyed my time there. It was my self and few family members, we sat at the Bar, our bartender Troy was amazing, his personality is just wonderful. He was professional at his work but yet still knows how to interact with the guests. He makes great drinks btw. We only had 2 appetizers which were the boneless wings(spicy) and non spicy, and they tasted great. The restaurant has outdoor seating and indoor, and it was a very pleasant environment. I will definitely visit if I'm in town again. Troy, thank you for making my experience at Emmy Squared Pizza a memorable one.

My friend and I came for the gluten-free pizza because she has a gluten sensitivity. We were both extremely impressed with the crunchy texture and taste of the gluten-free crust. Would definitely come again!

MVP Pizza w| side of Ranch

Emmy Squared is one of my absolute staples, and this location never disappoints. Every time I come here, it's a solid experience from start to finish. I ordered the MVP pizza with ranch on the side (a must), and it was everything I expected, perfectly crispy edges, flavorful sauce, and well-balanced toppings. Comfort food done right. I sat at the bar and was served by Troy, who truly elevated the experience. He's knowledgeable, approachable, and full of great recommendations-especially helpful when you're undecided. You can tell he knows the menu and genuinely enjoys making sure guests have a great time. Great food, great service, and a consistent go-to spot on the Alexandria waterfront. I'll definitely keep coming back.

Just when you think it can't get better - a surprise hot chocolate brownie and ice cream arrives at our table!

Pizza is always the best and we love coming to visit your restaurant when our granddaughters are visiting from New York! This past Friday was the best experience we've had with staff, especially the Asst. Mgr.! She was very friendly and kind, even offered extra paper for "drawing games" for our granddaughters while we waited for our pizza! After dinner we were treated to a very special dessert! Thank you for the kind gesture and warm smiles! We'll definitely be back again soon!

Although I'm not typically into chain restaurants or those in high-tourist areas, I give Emmy Squared a break on both fronts because the food is really delicious. We've ordered takeout, eaten in the dining room, and sat at the bar. Personally, I prefer the bar seating. Service is always good and efficient, regardless of where you sit, and the flavors will surprise and delight you. I'm a fan of their pizza--it doesn't taste like overly processed chemicals and strikes the right flavor balance (and I always have leftovers!). My spouse and I recently came here the night before an early 5-mile run, and I tried the Caesar salad for the first time. Amazing! I love an authentic Caesar recipe (anchovies, raw eggs, and all), but I'm not a big fan of croutons. The beautiful thing about this salad is that there are no chunky croutons. Instead, there are little crunchy bits mixed into the salad itself. So smart and delicious. A caution when sitting in the main dining area: it's not terribly big, there's very little sound proofing, and you'll likely be rubbing elbows with the table next to yours with only a thin partition between you. You can hear everything they're saying and it'll distract from what your dinner mates are saying. Hence, my recommendation that you order takeout or sit at the bar. Another caution: The spicy stuff is delicious but actually REALLY spicy, so if you have low tolerance, maybe skip those options.

Emmy's was recommended to me by a coworker. It was excellent. First, the ambiance of Alexandria is truly special. Nestled a block from the waterfront, Emmys is in a great location around the hustle and bustle of Old Town King street. The pizza is outstanding. Gluten free folks can rejoice as the gluten free crust option is a delicious alternative. Oftentimes, gluten free crust will change the entire dish. As Emmys specializes in square Detroit style, I was expecting the gluten free pie to just be a round alternative. It was not. It was exactly like their bread and butter just with a slightly thinner crust than the regular pizzas. I ordered the Big Ang. This pizza came topped with banana peppers, dollops of ricotta cheese, Italian sausage and a scrumptious vodka sauce. It was perfect. I ordered the regular size as there is also a large option. The regular may not look that big in the photo, but it is more than enough for one person. I found myself slowing down after 4 of the 6 squares. My friend ordered the Big Hawaiian. He enjoyed it! With the regular crust being much thicker, he only ate half of his pizza and took the rest home. For an appetizer, we ordered the chicken crunchers in the pineapple sauce. These were good and tasted somewhat like an Orange Chicken sauce. I am not sure how they are about refills as I ordered an unsweet tea and my friend ordered a coke. The coke came in the glass bottle so it seems to be a one and done kind've deal for drinks. The atmosphere was bustling. They have a small bar with a TV that was showing college football. It was a fun atmosphere.

I have yet to have a slice here that wasn't delicious! Super quality meats, sauces, cheeses, and dough! Seriously - the dough is so soft with crispy edges! Even the gluten free pizzas are amazing! The gluten free options have a thinner dough, but they're still high quality and I couldn't taste any different to the regular one. I've only tried their delivery and their service is fantastic! The pizzas were still warm and ready to eat by the time they arrived. I can't wait to sit down at their restaurant and try their pizzas right after they pop out of the oven! I don't have much else to say other than you've got to give these folks a try!

We got excited about the Detroit style pizza while visiting Alexandria. While it was pretty cold outside, we wanted to sit outside for the atmosphere on King st. We went inside to ask for a table outside and the older gentleman( we were told later it was the bartender) tried to deter us from sitting outside. Saying they were understaffed and he couldn't guarantee good service. This was a first. Inside wasn't busy. We opted to "take our chances". The server eventually came out and took our order. The same guy(bartender) brought our pizza out and didn't ask if we needed anything else. We did. I had to go inside to order a couple drinks. Pizza was pretty good. Wished it was a little hotter. Maybe sat under a heater lamp before coming out to us. Overall, a decent experience. Wished the customer service at the beginning was better. But we would come back.

Still a 5* review...but...I love a good tomato on my burger. They don't have any in the restaurant. Also, ask for the lettuce on the side. The burger basically cooks it (it is under the burger in the stack) before you get it. It looks sad. Problem solved though when I ask for more lettuce and to have it on the side. The burger is excellent otherwise. Still love the Detroit style pizza. Also the waffle fries!! Outdoor seating is marvelous while the weather still holds. Definitely try the pizza! Also the burger.

The place was cute. The fries were good, and the service was decent, but that's about it. The hot chicken sandwich was heavily breaded and tasted like the oil hadn't been changed in a while. The pizza was so-so.

It was recommended by a friend, they said that the Hawaiian pizza here is good and no joke it was! I know very selective who likes pineapple on their pizza and it has been awhile since the last time I had it and so thankful that this place gives justice with the Hawaiian pizza that am craving. The time we went they don't have an AC so that's hard fight with your sweat glands but the service was for sure on the spot and fast. The place was packed when we visit just got lucky that there's still availability at the bar area. They have an alfresco and indoor dine in. For parking, it will be street parking and you need to walk to the restaurant. It's around the corner where the closed road is so it will not be hard to find.

The place can get quite busy so I would highly recommend making a reservation first. We ordered some cocktails which all tasted amazing, I enjoyed the espresso martini the most. Our table ordered the baked oysters and tuna tartare to start. The oysters were seriously so fricking good, I wanted to order another round! The tuna tarate was refreshing and tasted really good as well. I highly recommend ordering the fish curry or their scallop entree. I also got to have a bite of the chicken & waffles and the steak pasta but I would skip on those. Super excited to come back!!

My wife and I arrived around 1:20 p.m. on a Thursday. The lunch crowd was still going strong, which only reinforced that we had picked a popular spot. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill almost immediately. When we walked in, there was no hostess to be found. After waiting about four minutes, she finally appeared and offered us a choice between a small table in the corner or one by the bar. Given how busy the restaurant was, we took the table by the bar. About seven minutes later, someone finally came by to offer us water and explained that our server was busy, but she would help us in the meantime. No problem. We ordered the Avo Goddess Salad and asked that it be split so we could share it. A few minutes later, our server arrived, introduced herself, and we let her know we had already ordered the salad and were ready to place our lunch orders. She was very helpful in guiding my wife toward the Old Bay Shrimp Burger. I was excited to order the Shrimp and Grits until I learned it contained Andouille sausage and, according to our server, couldn't be prepared without it. Since the restaurant highlights that everything is made from scratch, that surprised me. I ended up ordering the Ahi Tuna Salad instead. So far, so good. Then came the frustration. We spent the next 20 minutes slowly picking at our salad, growing increasingly hungry and confused. You know something is wrong when guests who were seated after you begin receiving their meals before you. Finally, at 2:10 p.m., our food arrived: my Ahi Tuna Salad and a Pulled Lamb Sandwich for my wife. Except my wife had ordered the Shrimp Burger. When we pointed out the mistake to what was now our third server, she quickly assured us it would be corrected. A few minutes later, our original server returned and took full responsibility. She explained that the lamb and shrimp items are next to each other in the POS system and she accidentally selected the wrong item. She assured us the Shrimp Burger would be out in two minutes and suggested we enjoy the fries that came with the lamb sandwich while we waited. Unfortunately, another ten minutes passed before the burger finally arrived. Here's where things became truly disappointing: the top bun was still cold--almost frozen. My wife ended up removing it entirely and eating the sandwich with just the bottom bun. At best, the Shrimp Burger was decent, but certainly not worth the wait and frustration. As for my Ahi Tuna Salad, it felt like something I could easily make at home, especially considering the $25 price tag. I'm also not entirely convinced the tuna was particularly fresh. I can't bring myself to give Matt and Tony's one star because the atmosphere is genuinely cool and inviting. So I settled on two stars--mostly for how I felt before the experience unraveled. And listen, I get it. Mistakes happen. We're all human. But as someone who eats out frequently, here's one piece of advice: when a restaurant makes a significant mistake with a customer's order, consider taking that item off the bill. Sometimes that gesture is the only reason a guest decides to come back.

My cousin was running errands in the area, so we made a reservation for a weekday afternoon. It was very easy to reserve online the day before. We were seated upstairs to the right in a very sunny room with skylights, wooden rafters, and a thin carpet. Unfortunately, the carpet isn't thick enough to muffle sound, so it was very noisy. Our server, Nadir, seemed distracted, using his phone in a corner of the dining room, and wasn't too attentive. Another female server helped him manage his tables and took my drink order. My cousin ordered the veggie quiche and I opted for the French dip. Nadir asked if I wanted cheese and I assumed it came with cheese, so I said sure. When he then listed four different cheeses, I chose Swiss. When it arrived, it was clearly not Swiss. When I pointed it out to Nadir, who was nowhere to be found until we were ready for our bill, he said, "At least it is all natural cheddar!" Hmm... Then I saw that it was $4 for cheese. Our lunch total was $60 (no alcohol). My cousin said she will not be returning due to the low quality of food and service. I'll likely give it another try, but my expectations will be much lower next time, and I'll probably just order takeout instead.

We were immediately greeted when we walked in and our server/bartender was extremely welcoming and friendly! We chatted for a bit and really loved the quality of service he provided. It was personable and professional. We tried the wagyu burger (perfectly seasoned and cooked, juicy!) and the hot chicken sandwich (crispy chicken, delectable sauce, overall 10/10 and a MUST). The appetizers we got Brussel sprouts (very bitter, a little soggy, overall a bit disappointing) and the ribbon fries (they were basically chips, but not seasoned or salted) topped with a mayo-based sauce that was pretty good but also pretty disappointing. Makes sense, a little more room out there anyway. We haven't been on this side of the place since it was a Sugar Shack so it was nice to see the new concept. The seats are mostly at the bar was maybe 3-4 tables around the rest of the restaurant. We got a small taster when we sat down which was really good but I do not remember what it was. The zero proof menu we were there consisted of a Blueberry, Fauxgroni, and a Honey cocktail. We got the Blueberry and Fauxgroni to start. Both were made in front of us and had very cool looking details, especially the Fauxgroni's ice cube. The Blueberry was delicious and the honey foam on top was great with it. We figured since we were there we should also grab dinner which was fully available too. Not a huge menu but had snacks and sandos with a Japanese influence. We started with the Oysters Trio and Tater Tots. The oysters came in these ceramic oysters which was pretty cool and they had an amazing flavor to them. Little sweet, little sour. The tater tots were also great because they're tater tots but the sauce really changed the flavors for us. We also got two sandos, the Hot Maple and the Miso Honey. The sandwich's were a good size. So much flavor packed in each bite. The Hot Maple had a ton of bacon jam and combined with the red onion it was a salty, sweet, sour, crunchy rich sandwich. The runny egg on top was a nice touch. The Miso Honey had a strong truffle flavor but the honey sweetness came through nicely. Also very crunchy. Lastly we got two more drinks off their regular menu, the Coffee Bean and the Hibiscus. The flavors in the Coffee Bean worked so well together. I would say it was one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. The Hibiscus was pretty solid too but I only had a few sips. To end, as a part of our experience, we got these complimentary yuzu lime donuts. I guess as a call back to Sugar Shack maybe? They weren't bad, a little crispy but the flavor wasn't strong. Definitely a cool experience. I might not pay $20 for the zero proof experience itself but I would come back for their food and cocktails because I would say it was all on point.

For appetizers, we ordered the chips and dip, which came with tortilla chips, plantains, mango salsa, guacamole, and dip. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. My only complaint is that the portions felt a little small for the price. We also ordered the spinach dip, and it was outstanding! It arrived piping hot in a cast-iron skillet and stayed hot the entire time we were eating it--a huge plus because spinach dip usually cools off quickly. The toasted, buttered bread that came with it was fresh and plentiful. Again, I just wish there had been a little more dip in the skillet. For our entrées, I had the Mojo Chicken, and my husband had the Grilled Chicken Alfredo. Both dishes were served hot, came out quickly, and were absolutely delicious. Birria Racos to go.
