Met some friends there for a quick bite on a Saturday evening. They're somewhat regulars and have told me about it but it took me a while to get there. It's a cool little pub with a pretty decent bar selection and food to match. Although the drink menu offers some really interesting options I stick with my Handsome Johnny with Tito's. And it was garnished with a nice piece of candied ginger which I truly appreciate. For my meal I ordered a seared ahi sandwich and chose bacon potato salad as my side instead of fries, coleslaw, or veggies. The sandwich was really good! Ahi cooked perfectly and seasoned really well so you can still taste the freshness of the ahi adding only an influence of seasoning complimenting it perfectly. The potato salad was delicious! Why didn't I ever think to put bacon in mine?? My only downside is the location which is in a small part of the shopping area tucked behind Athens Art and Frame and Little Caesar's. Printed on their menu in pride, the staff boasts of their swell-headed savage service. It's all fun and games to watch Richard purposefully humiliate guests, until of course you have a poor experience of your own and pay $100 for meals that were not correct not offered correction, only for the crew to pay full price then eat elsewhere. Don't bother sharing feedback because they'll remind you rather loudly how little they care. We've been a frequent diners for a couple of years and over the last few months (6 months+), the quality of the food has changed. My companion and I typically dine here at least once or more a month (less frequently recently) and it's been our go-to place for visiting family and friends. I almost always order the Bad Mother Clucker and Herb Fries. Frankly, this sandwich has changed significantly in quality over the last six months or so. The chicken is now tough and the batter is often overlooked/burned. I keep coming back, trying to give the restaurant the benefit of "a few bad days" hoping that the once adored sandwich will be back up to it's original standard. Sadly, it has not. At least three times that I can recall, our meals are served at the same time, but at drastically different temperatures. We'll both have fries and one will have cold fries and the other piping hot fries. Sometimes the fish is so hot you almost have to spit out the first bite. The jalapeño tarter is a favorite but sometimes (often times recently) it's too sweet. The sweetness should be subtle and add dimension and not be more prominent than the jalapeños IMO. Waitstaff is always friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is great. They almost always seem to be busy but we've thankfully never had to wait for a table (we usually dine at lunch on Saturdays). Sadly, I think the owner/manager has been too busy opening up other locations to keep this location in check. I'm not sure we can justify continuing to dine here given that the prices are high and the quality has consistently done down with little sign of upturning. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Athens. I've had a good bit on their menu and it was all super good. My family is originally from Miami so I almost always get the Cuban Sandwich since it's it's my comfort food item of choice. Their fries are really good as well as all of their burgers. Their humor around the restaurant is also fun with "Wait for the hostess to be seated, this isn't Waffle House", or the "people hate us on Yelp". Yes, my UGA colleague ordered a catering from catch 22 that had green beans, 2 or 3 years ago. Almost everybody at my department thought it tasted problematic. Original post: During Coronavirus: I was trying to order delivery. Because I am not in good health. However, they refused to do delivery or curbside service, like every other local restaurant during this time. Catch 22 owners have the audacity to mock people like me, who run out of toilet paper and do not have good health to dine in. I have had their food several times from event catering. The food was acceptable except the green beans who made me throw up. During coronavirus I thought I could support this small business despite that one bad experience. This place is fantastic! The space is open and friendly. It's definitely a pubby place, but it is bright and lively. There is a small patio for nice days or evenings. There is plenty of seating for a larger party or a small more intimate group. They offer a variety of beers, which are mostly stout and porter beers. So this is a place for craft beer fans. I ordered the House Burger with a side of bacon brussel sprouts. You all, it was to die!!! The House Burger comes with bacon jam, melted cheddar, grilled onions (I asked for no onions) and sriracha-up (spicy ketchup). So good and the portion is large, which is great because I was super hungry. I will definitely be back to try more of the food the next time that I am in Athens!!!! read more

I know they have a new menu you now but you're in luck! What I ordered when I was there is still on the menu! First things first, the ambiance is pubby but lively. Not sure why it was so empty when we went but it was! By the number of staff that were there, they were used to it being a lot busier in that time frame as well. I opted to go with the House Burger with the famous Bacon Potato Salad which is odd for me because although I love potato salad, I am a stickler for if you get a burger, you must have fries and a strong soda! Anway, I am here so I was trying all of the popular items. The House Burger comes with bacon jam, melted cheddar, grilled onions and sriracha-up (spicy ketchup). All of my favorites on one burger. Y-U-M-M-E-R-S!! And it was cooked to perfection which for me is medium well. AH-Mazingly good. The Bacon potato salad was good too! Don't really understand the yelp diss at this establishment. Overall they have good reviews and offer a quality product and service. We ate here for lunch. Not a huge menu but items we had were good. The portions are huge. Served on a big flat board. I had the Cuban and fries. Both tasty. My wife had the cheesesteak and brussell sprouts with bacon. They were both good. Other person had fish and chips and he said this was also good. Had the corn and guacamole with chips. Good appetizer. Extensive beer and bourbon list. Nice craft beer selection. Decided to give their "food truck" a try. I never heard of this place in Athens so I was excited to try something new and the reviews on Google and Yelp had my expectations high. Unfortunately their food truck menu is not representative of their actual restaurant menu at all. Their restaurant menu focuses heavily on bar/pub food (burgers, fries, pretzels, etc) so I was surprised to see nothing but tacos on their "food truck" menu. The tacos listed on their menu for the food truck were Beef, Chicken, and Ginger Soy Pork with toppings of lettuce, jalapeños, tomatoes, shredded cheddar, and liquid gold sauce. I knew from the topping choices these would be bland Americanized tacos and I should've walked away then. I paid $15.00 (including tip) for two tacos (Beef and Ginger Soy Pork) and a side of "queso and chips". They really half assed this food and I felt robbed after finishing the meal. The ground beef was absolutely flavorless. The Ginger Soy Pork had an okay flavor but nothing I was crazy about at all. The tacos were pathetic and I don't know why they choose to sell tacos on a food truck when that is not their expertise at all. I could've made this exact same meal at home with things in my pantry for way cheaper and it would've come out with better flavor. The chips and queso are pathetic. They give you a bag of Tostito's tortilla chips (not even real house made chips, really!?) and what I am pretty sure is store bought Tostito's white queso (it was flavorless). The whole meal lacked flavor all around and since this was my first impression of this restaurant I am not inclined to try the physical location. I would've rather seen burgers and fries on their menu instead of basic Americanized tacos that were not memorable at all.. I also don't believe they cook any of the food to order and it is really just a heat and serve operation, my food was lukewarm and given to me in all of two minutes. I could've gone to an authentic taco spot here in Athens and gotten double the food with twice as much flavor and half the price. Why not 5 Stars? The service can be a little slow at times, and the location can be difficult to not forget about. A+ for atmosphere though. This is a fun place to eat. Come in at 2 pm on a Thursday, and you have the place almost to yourself. Today I ordered the pretzel. Wow. The thing was 18 inches wide at its widest. They put the Dijon Spivey mustard underneath it, and it's a bit of heaven. Today I ordered the pastrami sammich with bacon potato salad. I am a big fan of the potato salad. I love the potato slices, or "fillets" as I think of them. The flavor is wonderful. The pastrami sammich comes with cole slaw on it -- I wish I had ordered the slaw to be on the side. No big deal. Ew. Just ew. We got the nachos and it came out looking like vomit. All one color too with a few random pieces of corn throughout (add some veggies! Peppers! Something! Please!). It tasted as bland as it looked. The chicken tasted like it came from a can and the cheese left a bad taste in your mouth. Next, I ordered the fried chicken biscuit. It looked amazing when it came out! The fries were good and the chicken was descent too. But the biscuit tasted like straight baking soda (this is why we use measuring cups people!). It was totally inedible and I don't consider myself a picky eater. Also, the prices are ridiculous for the quality of the food. Get it together. This is one of my favorite places in town. It's one of the only local places in the area, and it can get a little busy during dinner. The jalapeno poppers are the best I've ever had. I have to resist getting them every time I go, so I don't overload myself. Plus my husband is not a fan of spicy, so I end up eating them all myself. My favorites are the shrimp and grits and the habanero honey roasted wings. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Pair that with one of their many beer options, and you're all set. Listen... I'm not a fan of beer. But there is something about being in that place that makes me want some beer with my food and like it, too. I'm not sure what it is. You can get a flight and try a few different kinds, which is fun. If you want some comfort food, try the grilled cheese and tomato soup. It's gotta be the best around. I think they use a few different types of cheese and then grill it to perfection. Once you dip it in the soup, you'll feel all good inside. I recently tried a special: jerk chicken thighs over mashed potatoes with a side of bacon green beans. I may have botched that description, but I must say it tasted like I was in some gourmet restaurant. It was a lot of food, but I ate every last bit. As you can probably tell, I love this restaurant. It really deserves a zero or lower. We had their burgers, one way overcooked, the other raw in the middle. The server didn't ask us how we wanted them cooked, so I expected more of a well done. The raw one was sent back to the cook and he just looked at it and did nothing. I'll post a photo of the raw burger if the site allows. We paid, left and will never go back again. The dirty fries appetizer looked interesting, but all it is is cheese dropped onto fries in excess. Some bacon chips and green onions. Nothing to write home about either. The atmosphere is very chill, overall it was what I imagined a gastropub would feel and look like. There are booths all around, and two long high tables in the middle, perfect for large parties. It comes with three small Mahi Mahi tacos on corn tortillas with really unique honey Wasabi sauce . I probably won't order it again for $9, but I really liked the honey Wasabi sauce. Both me and my boyfriend ordered the chef's special burger. Basically, the chef creates a random burger not on the menu based on any special food preferences. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. I had asked mushrooms to be incorporated and my boyfriend asked for something spicy. What I got was a giant fried portobello mushroom with bacon, cheese, and arugula wihout a top bun...and it was DELICIOUS. Besides the creativity aspect of it, you can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the well flavored beef patty. My boyfriend was surprised with a burger with jalapeños, fried tortilla chips, and a touch of ghost chili. He said he enjoyed it, but next time would ask for even more ghost chili. The regular fries that comes wih the burgers are delicious--crispy and flavored with garlic and onion flakes. the filthy fries I had were their regular fries topped with their beer cheese sauce. First let me start this review with the food is Flippin amazing. I know I just ordered a burger and a salad and some brussel sprouts but it's probably some of the best I've ever had. Tonight I ordered the house Burger which has bacon jelly and Sriracha ketchup enough said. Half of the pub house salad which had some great flavored vinaigrette dressing. Finish up with some bacon fried brussel sprouts.. I mean come on its fried with bacon how do you go wrong. Unlike the place I tried last night when I walked in my food was ready my server was friendly they knew my name and the food was hot. Got back to my hotel room about 10 minutes after I picked it up and the food was still hot. What an amazing concept.
