She immediately took us to our table gave us our menus. The restaurant was quite crowded that day so I did take a take a little long for our waiter to come, but once you arrived, it was smooth selling from there once I arrive she went over the menu asked if we have been here before which we have she told us to catch of the day. She also gave recommendations for different drinks that we could try. If we were interested. I decided to try a tropical sunrise which was tequila, orange juice, and grenadine and once we got our drinks, we decide the place order for appetizers for appetizers. I ordered the oyster Rockefeller. It was very delicious. Had great flavor cooked perfectly had a lot of cheese and cilantro on top which I really enjoyed. For our courses, my mom ordered the salmon with potatoes. My dad ordered the rotisserie chicken which came with broccolini and also potatoes and I ordered the Cajun shrimp pasta, which was shrimp, pasta, peppers, and some type of Cajun sauce. I asked for extra spicy, but it wasn't spicy at all fortunately, however, the shrimp was cooked to perfection. The pasta was cooked just like ass not too chewy not to firm and overall was the great. It was a great dinner. The ambience was great as always soon as you walk in you can see the whole restaurant from the entrance you're able to see the fresh fish on the right side of the restaurant. You're also able to depend on where you sit can see the ocean. They also have outdoor seating which includes a fire pits that you can oversee the Neptune statue or you can sit on the patio that's facing the ocean so they have a various seating options that are great. They also used to have a Alisha restaurant which is a steakhouse. I did ask the host about that. Unfortunately they got rid of the steakhouse, but it is still listed as being a restaurant at the Hilton oceanfront offer so if I had to give an improvement I would tell them to maybe maybe remove that advertisement as it's no longer offered however, overall it was a great time. I really suggest that you visit this restaurant if you were in the Virginia oceanfront area they have a lot to offer. The food is great. The people are very friendly and you won't be disappointed. We were visiting from Texas and decided to stop here since there was some show across in the "park". Staff from the hostess to our waitress were all very nice and welcoming which I loved. We sat outside and it's not too loud and the weather was perfect. For the food and drinks. We got their Pineapple Luau, Mojito and a Margarita. They were all good,they sure hit the spot and they didn't skimp on the liquor. We ordered their coconut shrimp and it was delicious. They were perfect with and without the chili sauce. After deciding on a main course we chose rock fish and ended up just ordering 1 meal and sharing it. I think out of the whole experience my only complaint would be the size of fish for the price. I was heading to the Water district but my Uber driver made the suggestion of Catch 31. The food and service were fantastic! This is my third or fourth visit over the last few years. The setting is one of Catch 31's strongest points. Oceanfront views, open windows, and a coastal, airy vibe make it a genuinely scenic spot. Perfect for sunset dinners or drinks with the water right there. The energy at the bar was lively but not overwhelming. Clam Chowder: Rich, creamy, good balance of clams to potatoes. Classic and comforting. House Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing: Fresh greens, generous portion of blue cheese. Tangy and well-dressed without being soggy. Burger: Flavor was excellent, juicy, well-seasoned. Came out slightly overcooked for my preference, but still delicious. Drinks: Two Old Fashioneds were balanced and strong. Also had a shot of Jim Beam bourbon. This is where the experience fell short. I'm a 20%+ tipper and I sit at bars often, so I understand how busy it gets. But the difference in service was hard to miss. Tatiana (bartender): Greeting took much longer than other guests. I wasn't asked if I was eating or drinking right away, yet I watched her promptly greet others, offer water, take orders, then ask for a card. With me, she asked for a card for the tab immediately. The interaction felt noticeably different from how she treated other patrons. I give grace when I can, but the contrast was clear and can't be ignored. I also noted her manager appeared to be a Black man, which made the disparity feel even more disappointing. Hayden (bar back): Cool and helpful. Stepped in, checked on things, and was genuinely hospitable. I reluctantly left her 15%. Honestly, I didn't want to give her anything at all but a piece of my mind. The good Lord Jesus is working on me, so I left the 15% and walked away. As a regular 20%+ tipper, that drop speaks volumes about how the service felt. Pros: Scenic oceanfront atmosphere, good food with strong flavors, solid cocktails. Hayden's help improved the night. Cons: Inconsistent bar service. The burger was slightly overcooked. Most concerning was feeling singled out by Tatiana's approach compared to other guests. Catch 31 delivers on location and food. The view and the chowder alone are worth a stop. But the service experience at the bar was uneven and left me feeling offended as a paying customer who tips well. I hope management addresses the disparity, because the place has too much potential to be weighed down by that. DO NOT GO HERE!! Last weekend we went with friends we were visiting for a quick dinner. 3 of us ordered oysters and we all got sick within a few hours. The oysters weren't good either. Not shucked well, got shell and really lacked flavor. The peel and eat shrimp were overcooked resulting in an unpleasant texture. My salad was good though severely overdressed. The view is awesome. The fish was decent in seasoning but the veggies were extremely salty where I couldn't enjoy. The waitress and live musician were great. The hostess seated us where I preferred in the white booth which I appreciated in service. The calamari was good. It's on a beachfront and there's people in and out of the outdoor patio so can't really complain about the annoying flies but they were annoying to swat throughout our dinner. Visited Catch 31for lunch while in town for the weekend. This spot is on the boardwalk right near the water with indoor and outdoor seating--also a great view. However, the weekend I visited this spot, the beach was full of vendors, so there wasn't much to see. But it was great if you just like to people watch. My waitress was very pleasant and attentive. There wasn't a long wait for seating or food. My friend and I ordered Rockefeller Oysters for an appetizer. I don't usually eat oysters but was down to try the cooked ones on this visit. While my friend enjoyed them, they still didn't change my opinion on oysters--although, my friend did mention that there was a bit too much oyster taste present-which may be why I didn't enjoy them. Next, I ordered a Grilled Jerk chicken sandwich and fries, while my friend ordered the Blackened Tuna melt, which came on Rye bread. The chicken sandwich was very good, a bit too much spice for me--it had jerk sauce on it, and the spiciest pepper jack cheese I've ever tasted. While it was bursting with flavors, I don't think it agreed with my stomach. The fries were mediocre-nothing to brag about, I actually wished they were a bit crispier and longer. They were too close to soggy in my opinion. The Blackened Tuna sandwich was ok, nothing to rave about. It was spicy as well. I did have a margarita also, which was really good. Never tried the coleslaw, since it's not my thing. I noticed that they don't have the cleanest menus, that should be worked on for the prices this place charges. Other than that, I would say give this place a chance if you haven't already. I highly likely that I would return if I'm ever in town again. I just wouldn't order the samething again. read more

The food is excellent. We went during a very busy night when a music festival was on the beach so the chef was not honoring any substitutions but you could order an extra side. There was about a 10 minute wait but it was well worth it. We arrived around 7:30 & was seated by 7:42pm. We ordered calamari, oysters, Rockefeller, the House salad, and the Caesar salad. All were on our table within 10 minutes. The restaurant was very crowded, but the food came out very quickly. Our server Jasmine was excellent also. Prior to her coming over to greet us another server poured our water and let us know that Jazmine would be right over. She checked on us regularly & offered suggestions as needed. For entrées, I ordered the Rockefeller bronzed which came with wild rice and asparagus and the Hubby ordered the 16 oz ribeye steak which came with potatoes and asparagus with Brulé cheesecake for dessert. Everything we had that night was delicious. The food was hot and served quickly & The service was excellent. To drink I had a margarita the Hubby had water. The drink wasn't too strong, but it was still good. Perfect for me because I'm a lightweight drinker. I highly recommend Catch 31 for a fulfilling meal. I think that the prices were excellent. This seems to be an upscale restaurant, but I'm from Maryland so our seafood prices seem to be much higher than they are here. So I think that the prices are not bad at all compared to what we would normally pay, how fast the service is and how good the food is. 10 out of 10 I highy recommend when you're in the Virginia Beach oceanfront area. I've been here a dozen times and I KNOW I had to have written a review about it before - it's a staple at the oceanfront by the Neptune statue and 31st street pavilion. I love that they have the outside patio on the oceanfront with huge fire pits. It's fun to sit here communally (bc they're huge and seat so many people they can put multiple parties at the same table and listen to music. As far as location, it can't be beat. It's one of the main areas here with a claim to fame as one of the nicest hotels (before the Cav was remodeled). The inside seating is nice as well - but the patio is where it's at. The menu is loaded with fish options and their small house salad is wonderful as well as their fresh oysters which are always popular with out of town guests when we bring them here. The menu has enough items to please all people in your party. read more

I take my parents here when they come down for a beach day. We have always had a friendly server and amazing food. Food is decently priced for the area and drinks are always amazing. We spent the day on the beach right in front of this bar and for one of our breaks we went inside and sat and had a couple of drinks and the crab dip. The crab dip was very tasty with crab meat well represented. It came out with some lightly toasted pita chips. Our bartender was very attentive, and we had a couple of the margaritas while looking out at the view of the ocean from the bar. First night could not get anyone's attention at the bar sat 20 minutes with 2 bar keeps no eye contact nothing! Second day sat outside (@12 ish) nobody !!! Had to go inside and find "manager" to get lunch order placed and drinks. 3rd ( strike) night sat in restaurant area dropped over $150 for an average steak and my "Cajun" pasta was inedible. Chicken wasn't blackened and had too much Terragon: I think and not 1 actual piece of broccoli, only a few stems... so disappointing. Only thing so far to come outta this place that was good was a vodka can drink I fell in love with. Also complained to the bar tender the smell coming from behind the bar was sour/ sewage?? Very nice restaurant at the bottom of a hotel. Outside sitting is "small and cozy" but still classy by the boardwalk & that's where we sat. Our server was very polite and friendly but it did take her a while to get to us and get our order (our food took quite some time to get to our table as well). We ordered a few drinks - mojitos were good - and then food... the appetizer we wanted was out so we went straight for main course and split them: Tuscan salmon, crab cakes & New York sirloin. Food was very good, we ate everything, but it could be a little hotter. I would recommend this place and had a good time but would probably choose a less busier day/night to get a 5 star experience. read more

Terrible business and very poorly run. My sister is a type one diabetic and the manager actually came over to her table and told her she couldn't have her head down on the table. Her sugar was low. Disgusting behavior we will never return and we will be sure to tell all of our friends and family who frequent Virginia Beach to never visit this establishment. Now all of the poor ratings make perfect sense. Wait times are also terrible after she was told she couldn't have her head on the table they asked for the ticket so that they could just leave. Whoo where to begin with this one. My wife and I decided to come here for dinner on 5/19. It was her first time coming for actual food and it was my first time ever. She had always wanted to try it, it had a happy hour menu with food and drinks, so why not. We parked, walked the few feet over, got seated outside, and waited. Our waitress, Taya, was an absolute gem. Only 2 months working there and she was in her element for us. It was quite humid outside but it wasnt uncomfortable. The inside though was big and spacious (the big wall of Makers Mark alcohol bottles was quite a site to see). Now onto the food and drinks: For drinks I ordered their Catch 31 Orange Crush (delicious) and they went out of their way to prepare me a Irish Car Bomb (shot of Baileys Irish Cream in a pint of Guinness) the best they could and it worked out beautifully. My wife just had her favorite Blue Moon on tap and she had no complaints. For food we ordered a Buffalo Mac and Cheese (wife), The Mack (me) and coconut shrimp (share). The Mac and cheese my wife had blew her mind. The couple bites I took I could see why. The buffalo chicken on top was melt in your mouth tender and the cheese sauce balanced the spice out nicely. The Mack I had was a double cheeseburger with thousand island dressing, lettuce, onions, tomato, and pickles. I've mentioned the best burger I've ever had came from Smashed RVA but now it has competition in this one. It was fresh, juicy, and the toasted bun made it all come together. So good in fact I ordered a second one to go. Speaking of... The coconut shrimp we shared was so tender and the sweet chili dipping sauce would make your eyes pop out your head. It was spot on cooked, nice golden brown color, and very flavorful. My wife doesn't even like spicy food or coconut even but even she said she loved all of it. We got a second order of the shrimp to take home too. I talked to the manager on duty, named William, and told him my feelings and thanked him for a wonderful experience and meal and that we would definitely be back again. Yesterday, we had lunch at Catch 31. We ate there last while we were on our summer vacation. I had the salmon, mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was plated well and was very delish! The salmon was a good portion size. I wanted to swap the mashed potatoes with Parmesan truffle fries. Our server explained that they had a new menu and no substitutions were allowed. So I stuck with the meal per the menu and opted to not pay $8 for the fries. My husband had a burger, fries and ?? He asked for lettuce, tomatoes, mayo and grilled onions. The server responded that the mayo and grilled onions would be in the side. No problem. His burger and fries were delish. He got a large dish of grilled onions, enough for 2 people. They were very tasty! He didn't expect to receive so many. All was well until we got the bill and noticed we were charged $6 for the grilled onions! She didn't let us know this when we ordered our food. So, if you have any requests, ask if there's a charge. We walked from our hotel. They have indoor and outdoor seating right at the beach. I have had dinner here the last two times I have been in the area and had great experiences. The outdoor area is a perfect setup right near the boardwalk. It is a nicer restaurant, but still has reasonable prices. For apps, the calamari, spinach and artichoke dip, and coconut shrimp are all great. For my main dish I've had the salmon and the crabcakes. The crabcakes were the best I've had in the Virginia Beach area. The salmon was also delicious and had a great parmesan sauce with it. read more

Being that they are a Hilton Hotel restaurant they offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, happy hour and late night menus. The late night menu offers drink specials similar to Happy Hour. It's my bday so my husband decided to bring us here for some seafood. I ordered the baby octopus, clam chowder, raw oysters, and my husband ordered a filet mignon. The baby octopus dish was AMAZING. They got the spanish flavors down. The chowder was a little too thick for me tasty. Oysters were perfect. Unfortunately my husband's steak wasn't the best. What a nice place to dine while in Va Beach. The restaurant is located in a Hilton. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant has a pretty expansive menu. The scallops were great. I also had the blacked rockfish as well. The portion was small, but the flavor was great It was served with wild rice and asparagus. The restaurant features a full bar. I've lived in Virginia Beach for 10 years and have always wanted to try Catch 31 so my daughter and I decided to dine in on a Thursday evening and I'm so glad we did. As soon as we walked in, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful the interior was. Since we wanted to sit outside, we were told that the outdoor dining area was first come, first serve so we ventured outside to grab a table. I love how close the outdoor dining area is to the beach, the views were so nice! Our server, Nyada, was super friendly and helped us decide on what to order. My daughter ordered the Margherita Flatbread with a side of Broccolini and I decided on the Clam Chowder to start and the Pan Seared Scallops with a side of Truffle Mac & Cheese as my entree...along with a margarita, of course! The soup and the Margherita Flatbread came out fairly quickly! The Clam Chowder was amazing!!! It was very hearty with an abundance of clam pieces. The Flatbread was also just as good and very flavorful. The Pan Seared Scallops were cooked perfectly and paired wonderfully with the creamy orzo! I could not stop eating it! Unfortunately, the server forgot to put in the Truffle Mac & Cheese but since I was super stuffed, I was okay with that. Just another reason to return! The food at Catch 31 was definitely a 10/10!!!
