We went for restaurant week and got a great deal! The scallops were huge and tasted fresh. The veggies were just okay. Nothing to rave about. The crush was delicious. Got our key lime pie dessert to go. It was tart and delicious

Ultimate seafood

Chix is wonderful! We had an excellent experience while in VA Beach. Walkable and on the boardwalk. Seated with a great view of the ocean. Our waitress was kind, and the food was served quickly. The espresso martini was not the best we've had, but the mango Crush, strawberry lemon drop martini, and lemon drop martini were all good. The goat cheese jalapeno burger was out of this world amazing and so unique. I'm not a big burger person, but it was cooked perfectly medium, the cheese melted into the burger, and the toppings just pulled it all together. The ultimate seafood was expensive, but it was nice to be able to try a variety of seafood while at the beach. Their fries were perfectly crispy. Even the coleslaw was refreshing and a good palate cleanser. The Southwest salad with the tuna was filling and full of toppings. The fish of the day had a flavor forward blackened topping. The crab dip could've used a bit more crab, but overall had good flavor and texture. We didn't dislike anything we tried , and I highly recommend!

This place I found in a 5 minute window pulling into the beach. The parking lot a little chaotic but have free valet if eating there. Staff friendly and we're seated quickly on heated patio. I got lump crab cake sandwich with fries. Hubby got cod meal with mac and cheese and coleslaw. Everything was very fresh but crab cake was a tad small and it is very loud in there due to the large bar. Try the citrus cake no vodka taste. And this place right on the beach so great views. I will be back and highly recommend.

In town for a staycation, I hopped in the elevator and asked a couple where they were heading for dinner. Their answer? CHIX! Checked the menu and boom--here I am. We were seated right away, and Rachel was our server. She was super polite, gave excellent suggestions, and stayed attentive throughout our meal. To start, we had the She Crab Soup, Blackened Steak Bites, and Hushpuppies--all 10/10. The soup was rich and flavorful with an abundance of crab. The steak bites were cooked perfectly, and that signature sauce? It needs to be bottled and sold! The hushpuppies were spot on, especially with the butter. YUM. For the entrée, we ordered the Ultimate Just Seafood platter: jumbo shrimp, sea scallops, lump crab meat, and lobster tail all dredged in Old Bay and butter. Absolutely phenomenal--so good! With the generous portion, it was perfect for sharing, especially alongside our sides of mashed potatoes and a garden salad. Their peppercorn dressing is a must-try, foodies. All in all, CHIX was a fantastic choice--delicious, cost-effective, and filling. Highly recommend. Bon appétit!

Boiled Snow Crab Legs (2-Clusters)

Came here on a cloudy day due to "Erin" hurricane, because the family wanted some boiled seafood and this place DID NOT disappoint! We sat on the covered patio which has a nice beach ambient and our server was always quick and responsive on our needs. Amazing service by all. Food wise, we got the snow crab legs boiled and they were so good that barely the shells survived. We also ordered a grilled seafood combo with lobster tail, so good that we didn't even take a picture and just started digging right away. Very good spot, approved and recommended

Located on the boardwalk, Chix is a cute all American so food spot. They have an area that borders the boardwalk so you can look out as you eat, a bar area and more of an indoor seating area. The food overall wasn't too bad and the prices were reasonable. I got the fish sandwich and it was ok. The breading was thin and barely held together once I started eating it. Taste wise, it was not bad with the tartar sauce but without was pretty bland. My friend got Mac and cheese for her son and heads up, it's Kraft that has been up charged. Our server however killed it! She was so attentive and despite being very busy she didn't skip a beat and even took a second to talk to my friend who was engaging in conversation with her!

Lump Crab Cakes, so good!

Such a wonderful spot on the boardwalk. We waited less than 20 minutes for a spot on a Wednesday night. 20 min is nothing with a live band and the ocean in front of you! Our server, Grace, was incredible. She was kind, hilarious and personable. Sit in their patio if you can! The ocean breeze and open setting helps with the music and sound coming from inside. Inside was a bit of a maze and extremely loud. The lump crab cakes & just seafood were both delicious. We had to add salt & pepper to the veggies but the mashed potatoes were so dang good. The kids cheese burger was $8.99 and a huge portion. Orange crush drinks are their thing and absolutely refreshing!

Overall an okay experience. The staff was helpful and the location nice, I just wish the burger I ordered was better. The patty was overcooked after I asked for medium, the fries were soggy shoestrings.

Slivers of sausage and zero seasoning inside
Anna M.

This was such a disappointing meal because we were really looking forward to delicious crab. Unfortunately, what we got was unflavored, basic crab. The "steamer bag" was a foil tray with zero seasoning inside, sad looking, unflavored potato, and corn that tasted like nothing. Our "sausage" was a sliver of sausage...not even actual pieces and felt rubbery in the mouth. If you want flavorful, juicy crab, go someplace else.

View was amazing and our waitress was so helpful! The view right on the boardwalk was fabulous!

Lager Heads GOOD:…read moreThe burgers and fries, the service was also wonderful. BAD: Not much, a little pricey but if you stick to the sandwiches, given it's beach town, the value is reasonable. Other menu items get into the 30s quick and appetizers are steep. Lager Heads was on the agenda from some restaurant research. Iam glad I tried it - the burger felt like a 1/2 pounder, juicy and seasoned, yet still cooked perfect. The fries are seasoned, very crispy and came with the burger which I liked. They had a great line up of burgers, I'd love to try another. The Knockout burger was fantastic, but the Cowboy burger on texas toast sounded great as well. You'll quickly leave the 17 to 20 dollar range if you leave sandwiches, but the service, the portions, and the quality make it worth a treat. It was February, so I couldn't partake in what looked like great outdoor seating. That's something else I'd like to try if I returned in the summer.

We were able to seat anywhere we chose the booth hightop where we had a perfect view of the ocean water and we even saw dolphins passing through while are stay. The atmosphere is perfect for that more intimate experience for lunch and dinner and the light decor was nice and unique with cozy seating with perfect views of the ocean water . We came during restaurant week this spot was very good from the service the space and food we did their $20 lunch menu which included appetizers and entrees portions were definitely worth the option they had. I did the Caesar salad, a nice light salad surprisingly to start off with the entrée which was their burger and that burger was well seasoned well prepared delicious it's honestly my favorite will be back again for it during the summertime or another dine in plus you can do either the lunch or dinner option anytime during restaurant week the only difference is dinner gives you a dessert and that is $35 per person. The drink was a good choice to pair with our food. my favorite was their orange crush a perfect classic for the beach. Definitely a drink to have in the summer if you want a good crush they got an option with different flavors I did the original orange crush which was light and sweet. Overall a good start to restaurant week and trying something different.

Knockout burger - lives up to the name. It seemed like a half pound and was truly a knockout.

Whoo where to begin with this one. My wife and I decided to come here for dinner on 5/19. It was…read moreher first time coming for actual food and it was my first time ever. She had always wanted to try it, it had a happy hour menu with food and drinks, so why not. We parked, walked the few feet over, got seated outside, and waited. Our waitress, Taya, was an absolute gem. Only 2 months working there and she was in her element for us. It was quite humid outside but it wasnt uncomfortable. The inside though was big and spacious (the big wall of Makers Mark alcohol bottles was quite a site to see). Now onto the food and drinks: For drinks I ordered their Catch 31 Orange Crush (delicious) and they went out of their way to prepare me a Irish Car Bomb (shot of Baileys Irish Cream in a pint of Guinness) the best they could and it worked out beautifully. My wife just had her favorite Blue Moon on tap and she had no complaints. For food we ordered a Buffalo Mac and Cheese (wife), The Mack (me) and coconut shrimp (share). The Mac and cheese my wife had blew her mind. The couple bites I took I could see why. The buffalo chicken on top was melt in your mouth tender and the cheese sauce balanced the spice out nicely. The Mack I had was a double cheeseburger with thousand island dressing, lettuce, onions, tomato, and pickles. I've mentioned the best burger I've ever had came from Smashed RVA but now it has competition in this one. It was fresh, juicy, and the toasted bun made it all come together. So good in fact I ordered a second one to go. Speaking of... The coconut shrimp we shared was so tender and the sweet chili dipping sauce would make your eyes pop out your head. It was spot on cooked, nice golden brown color, and very flavorful. My wife doesn't even like spicy food or coconut even but even she said she loved all of it. We got a second order of the shrimp to take home too. I talked to the manager on duty, named William, and told him my feelings and thanked him for a wonderful experience and meal and that we would definitely be back again. I can't speak for the people who gave this place negative feedback but I can say for my wife and I we had zero issues with the service, staff, and food.

I ordered the Sunrise Burger, subbing hot honey for the mayo and oh-mah-gawsh that was an excellent decision. (The burgers are a little on the smaller side, but I found it to be the perfect size.) So when one of the Homies told me about this place I was all in because - burgers - what's not to love. Barrel 17 did not disappoint; when i got there i realized quickly i was the last to know because it was busy. We had about a 10 minute wait to be seated but that was cut short by option to sit at the bar. The bartender was working like she had six arms. It was non stop; attentive, taking orders, making drinks, checking back with others, she was truly impressive. The places was jumping; it was busy, casual and didn't slow down from the time we arrived until we left. Parking is challenging, there's a small lot beside the restaurant and a small lot behind it so if you can car pool you'll benefit yourselves. Now on to the star of the show - the food! The only knock I had was portion size. In a big guy with an even bigger appetite and when i left there i could've eaten my whole meal over again lol. But that's also because it was delicious. I got the mac n cheese starter, the Beast Burger, tater tots , and the biggest slice of chocolate cake I've ever had. Literally the biggest slice of cake ever- twice the size of my burger. Everything was delicious, from start to finish and if i were a person that had a normal appetite i would've left full like my friends did. Will definitely be back!
