Glynis and Catering by Season really came through for us. We reached out to them two months before the wedding on a recommendation. Not only was the tasting better than the original caterers we were looking at, but provided better service at a better price. Glynis really cares about the quality of the food, service and walked up through the whole process. On our wedding day the food tasted better than at the tasting and Glynis made sure the service was exceptional. Not only would we use Catering by Seasons again, but I doubt we'd even consider going with anyone else. read more

On 14 Oct I had a retirement/50th bday party at the NMAI with a budget of $25k. Before I go into details about Ms. Keith, I wanted to talk about the other staff and food. The waitstaff, bartenders, and captain (I believe his name was Juan) were phenomenal. They were courteous and attentive. My Event Coordinator had high praise. Overall the food was fine but there were a few issues. Cold bread - I specifically advised Ms. Keith, several times because I love my carbs, that I wanted fresh warm bread and soft butter. I stated this so much that she put "warm bread and soft butter" in the proposal and I printed it on the guest menus. We receive cold, hard bread and soft butter. The carrots and green beans were barely kissed by heat. I didn't mention I liked cooked veggies because they were perfectly made for the tasting. The last guest table received small dollops of mashed potatoes as it seems the portions were not evenly distributed. The salads were barely dressed. The salad received during the meal was not the salad served during the tasting. Now on to Ms. Keith... The friction came about because I believe Ms. Keith is used to getting the budget and general wants from the client then running and executing as she sees fit. Below briefly (dang character limit) outlines the concerns I sent her via email. Abrasive - Ms. Keith's communication regarding her opposition to the table overlays was seriously lacking nuance. She acted like she was contributing funds to pay for the party. My Coordinator had to tell her 3 times, "we had this, let it go". Condescending - I sent clarifying questions about the proposal and received cut/paste verbiage from the proposal as responses Dismissive - I sent emails requesting information be sent (from a meeting that had taken place a month prior), with a week lead time as the deadline, and I received last minute piecemeal and pushback. She told me I was the only one to ever ask for an itemized statement and that she was super busy with other events. Lack attention to details - Never took any notes during meetings. Will argue you down over items she's forgotten. On day of, my Event Coordinator was very frustrated because discussed details (a few suggested by Ms. Keith) were forgotten by Ms. Keith. Ms. Keith suggested a certain way to fold the napkins to hold the menus. We liked it and said yes, please do. On the day, My Event Coordinator asked about the fold and Ms. Keith acted like she didn't know what she was talking about. Another item was the dessert table. Ms. Keith had suggested a dessert table next to the dance floor and we liked it. On the day, My Event Coordinator asked about the table and again, Ms. Keith acted like she didn't know what she was talking about. I had purchased individual sanitizing wipes and asked my Coordinator to place on the napkin. Ms. Keith didn't like and asked my Coordinator if they could be moved to the side. My Coordinator said no, Nawana wanted them here. Ms. Keith asked a few more times, apparently not wanting them in her pictures (keep in mind she had nothing to do with the decor - I made the centerpieces and my Coordinator added to the look) and my Coordinator had to tell her several more times no, Nawana wanted them there. Ms. Keith asked my Coordinator about the number of seats at each table, and that info was sent via email weeks before. Lastly, Ms. Keith's attire. This event was formal, she knew I had a custom, full-length gown made and the gentlemen wore tuxes. Ms. Keith wore an oversize, sloppy black shirt, faded black pants and scuffed up white tennis shoes. If she was going to remain unseen, absolutely no problem, but she was front and center during all aspects of the event - cocktail hour, dinner and start of the dancing. All others were sharply dressed. Ms. Keith looked out of place. Ms. Keith made this harder than it should have been and frankly took some of the joy. She offered free stuff at the end but I politely declined as I did not want anything other than what I paid for. read more

So grateful to Glynis and her team for making our daughter's Bat Mitzvah party so special. We were consistently impressed with Glynis's responsiveness to our dietary restrictions and budgetary constraints, as well as her creative menu suggestions for both adults and teens. We hired Catering by Seasons for our wedding in the fall of 2023. Although the food was decent, the inappropriate treatment of wedding guests and other vendors, and consistent disregard for our requests disqualify any recommendations for her services. Throughout the entire process - email communications, venue walkthrough, and even the event itself - the caterer was disrespectful to our planner, often trying to take over her job. She referred to our vendors repeatedly as "the help" and refused to let them go through the buffet line at the time that we, the clients, had decided. The event coordinator consistently forced her own choices onto our event, despite clear and respectful communication on our end. For example, she ignored the table setup plans we discussed at our venue walkthrough, and as a result, the family of one of the brides (including parents and matron of honor) were stuck in the corner of the room rather than closest to our sweetheart table. At the reception, we had requested that the cake be placed on the table with the desserts so the guests could see it. Instead, Catering by Seasons placed our small 6-inch cake on a large table in the back of the room, so nobody saw it. The event coordinator clearly scoffed at our flower and chuppah budget during the planning process and was disrespectful or explicitly rude to a number of guests on the day of the event. She verbally berated an elderly guest as they tried to leave the event hall to use the restroom before we made our entrance. She also belittled a guest who asked about a food allergy, after one of the caterer's own servers mistakenly told a guest that all food was cooked in sesame oil, which the guest was allergic to and which also was not the case. We did not feel as though food allergies were taken seriously. My wife is celiac, which we explained numerous times, but the event coordinator did not remember which items contained gluten at the tasting or the menu discussions that followed. Some of the sweet potatoes in one of the appetizers were so undercooked that they were inedible. The green beans and carrots on the dinner buffet were undercooked and the potatoes were cold, but the meats were good. For this highly unprofessional behavior on the day of the wedding and generally unpleasant planning process, we do not recommend Catering by Seasons. read more

We used Seasons and Glynis for our daughter's bat mitzvah at VisArts in Rockville, MD. We had a very positive experience with the execution of the event, and the food was delicious. Glynis was responsive to answer questions over email and text or to answer any last minute questions we had. We also really appreciated how Glynis was at the event to ensure the complicated turnover from the service to the bat mitzvah went well - it was executed flawlessly and we didn't see any missteps. Glynis was also so caring during the event to make sure that my husband and I had drinks in our hands or anything else we needed to enjoy the party with our friends and family. We used catering by seasons for my daughter's bat mitzvah party at Woodend Sanctuary. The food was delicious, and many of my guests commented on how good it was. For appetizers we had the gazpacho, the duck wontons, sushi, and the fried chicken sliders. For the buffet lunch, we had delicious salads, salmon with beurre blanc, chicken piccata, and a delicious mushroom pasta. The tables were set beautifully. Glynis gave us great advice on the food and the linens, and was responsive to all of our requests. We had several guests with special dietary needs, and she accommodated all of them. Also, she personally served their separate plates to them at the beginning of the meal, which I really appreciated, rather than having to wait for the other guests to be served. We worked with Glynis Keith and the Catering by Seasons team for our wedding in early September. Even before the tasting, my husband and I were excited about how she talked about her process, and her experience with same-sex weddings. When we spoke, Glynis gave us the best advice of anyone in our vendor selection process: "Everyone you talk to will be able to give you great food. But think about who's going to best help you achieve your vision and who you want on your team to make it happen. We hope it's us, but if not, we want you to find the best team possible." She was right - and having her on our team was one of the best decisions we could have made. She backed up all of this with the best food we tried during our tastings. It was not "just wedding food," but the great food and experience we were hoping for to celebrate with our friends and family. Glynis quickly realized how important the food was to us (it was the first vendor we picked), and helped us to maximize the value of everyone we need in a way that met our budget expectations - prioritizing the different passed appetizers and entree selections while minimizing equipment costs, identifying rentals that would still look good without breaking the bank, picking accent pieces that would make our day shine, and working with us on the right number of staff for our event. In the week leading up to our big day, and on the day of, our catering was something we didn't have to worry about in the slightest. Glynis called us a few days in advance to check in and make sure we were OK, particularly with some less-than-ideal weather in the forecast, a truly nice gesture when we really needed it. Glynis and her team brought their A game, making everything seamless and making our guests feel like they could have the time of our lives. All that on a day when it rained, and they had to make a lot of last minute adjustments - adjustments that we never saw or needed to think about because they handled it so effectively behind the scenes. Some highlights from our experience include the mini crab cakes (perfect in Maryland) and the bacon-wrapped dates for passed appetizers, and the beef with chimichurri sauce for entree, although everything was phenomenal. We didn't love the cake offerings through Catering by Season's partner, and Glynis was super flexible to give us a credit for us to find our own dessert selection. She gave us a recommendation for a vendor to deliver liquor, but she was also super happy to work with us on custom cocktails that we wanted her bartenders to serve. At our request, she also added iced coffee to our selection, which was very well received by our guests. We can't say enough fantastic things about Glynis and Catering by Seasons. We loved working with them, and would absolutely want to work with them - and specifically with Glynis - again given the opportunity. read more

This is the second time Glynis Keith catered a BarMitzvah for my grandsons (around 150 people). Each time, the events were a huge success. The day after, she catered brunches we gave for about 75 people, both times, perfect in every way. The food was delicious and creative. Everyone loved the menu and variety; there was something for everyone. The french toast bar is the stand out winner, but the avocado bar put in a very strong performance. People were very excited about it. We had traditional salads and bagels (whitefish, etc), and they were enjoyed too. Dessert was Glynis's original pop tarts--strawberry or Nutella filled. Fabulous! Marco, Rosa and Ingrid were extra-ordinary. They did not miss a beat. They cooked, served and cleaned up so gracefully that brunch was seamless. By the time they left, the house looked perfect. I could not have been more pleased with their warmth and professionalism. I originally was interested in Catering by Seasons because as we planned our wedding, sustainability was very important to us and CBS has a kitchen run by alternate energy, composts food scraps, and strives in many ways to commit itself to green practices. As it turned out, in addition to focusing on sustainability, CBS also makes incredible food of the highest quality, provides incredibly professional, friendly and flexible service and truly helped to make sure that our wedding went smoothly and that our guests were happy and well fed - the food got totally rave reviews from our guests! Stefanie was a real pleasure to work with - she was responsive and patient with our many questions throughout the planning process and was a huge help on the day of our wedding as well. She did a great job of anticipating our needs, checking in to make sure that we were happy and generally ensuring that everything went perfectly with the event. She really went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable with the menu and that we didn't have to sweat the details on the day of. The price compared to similar caterers who sourced locally was much more affordable, as well. The service was especially good, too. The best way to describe their service, and the resulting party, is perfect. After Bob met with us, he was very cognizant to work with us on how best to spend money, where we could save money, and how to focus our party for the type of crowd we are -- my co-host and I would have spent our budget on his advice alone. But then the team of three (for a party of about 70, food with "heavy" drinking) was so professional, friendly and helpful that the party ran itself.
