There are quite a few nice restaurants in Red Bank. This one is in the top 4. From ambiance, service to food...excellence prevails. The menu is small so, what does one choose. Obviously a matter of preference, but you have to try the meatballs...soft....wow can't say enough. Bread service is excellent. Their salads are above par. We did not try the Crostinis ie appetizers on toast. You can only eat so much. Onto the main course Branzino and Chicken Marsala. If you like seafood and chicken, there you go. Judging from the next table, the 12 inch pizza pies look really excellent. Cocktails made from an excellent barkeep keep the meal aplomb. Violet our server was very attentive. Parking as us locals know is sometimes a headache in Red Bank. Leave for your reservation early cause you will pay to park. Just think Asbury Park if you get the gist. read more

Went to Catezza last night, had a great meal. Friends came in from NY - we ordered in a family style fashion to try everything - bunch of apps (muscles, grilled octopus, melon/cheese, zucchini flowers, a white pizza. 3 pastas which were all a 10 - gnocchi, spicy Arrabiata, and spaghetti with zucchini, which was phenomenal. Mains were strip steak, salmon, and chicken parm. We really enjoyed our food. Waitress was cool and super helpful. She was on point. I was shocked at the bill too. Very affordable. Only thing I'll say is, vibe could improve. Little music and lightning...was a little quiet but red bank was quiet last night with shore open. I'd def go back. read more

Visited Catezza with a group of 8 for Jersey shore restaurant week. Jersey shore restaurant week is a fantastic opportunity to try new restaurants at a reasonable fixed cost. Catezza accommodated a table of 8 The restaurant is beautiful with a good size bar at the front of the restaurant Lovely drink menu with some high end bourbons at a reasonable cost. We sat near the open kitchen which was an absolute treat I enjoyed the meal, the desserts are stellar. Disappointed that the kitchen ran out of a few items. The spicy tuna over crispy rice with Calabrian chile sauce was very good. I prefer the tuna diced and mixed, this reminded me of poke. The meatballs were a huge appetizer portion of 3 and they were excellent The short rib over saffron risotto was very good, loved the crunch from the rapini. Their gelato is excellent as was the limoncello bread pudding. Michael took great care of us. I look forward to dining with Catezza again. read more

We had a great date here. The cocktails were very good. Service was also good. Loved the decor and the bar area downstairs is very pretty. For our foods we got the tuna app that is on top of the fried risotto. It was super delicious would highly recommend. For our meals we got the rigatoni bolognese, it was a great one. The meat was tender and sauce was good. My husband got the chicken dish which was cooked extremely well. It was moist and flavorful. For dessert we shared a raspberry custard thing I forgot the name but it was light and delicious. All in all it was a great night with great vibes. read more

Wow! I really enjoyed my dinner here. I will start with the ambiance which is top tier. The interior is stunning and there are plenty of seats outdoors. The restaurant is perfectly located on a street that is closed to cars and very pro pedestrian. Great for outdoor dining. I first had the margarita pizza it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. So soft and fluffy. For my entree I had the fra diavolo rissoto amd it sensational. So flavorful. Shoutout to the waiter who recommended it, the service was also very good. Good pizza and great drinks at this beautiful new spot in Red Bank. Stopped in to check out the place and for some drinks one night. I was drawn to the option to pick your own gin & tonics and had to give it a try. Had a blast trying different combinations of G&T. The Margherita pizza was a good crispy pie and was a great option to munch on with our drinks. It is a bit pricey but I would come back here for a nice dinner or to grab a drink at the small but mighty bar. Service is also good, all staff members are very nice, attentive, and knowledgeable. The interior is decorated beautifully, and there is a staircase going upstairs - didn't get the chance to go up there but hopefully I can check it out next time! The ambiance and vibes are just right with the low lighting and decor, as well as their comfortable seating. Can't wait to return! read more

Tonight was our third visit. A year ago the first time we are here, everything was outstanding. Three months ago we dined here again, and it was very good. Tonight five of us dined at Catezza, and two of the entrees we ordered were clearly left under heat lamps for too long before they were served to us. The chicken parm was dry and unappealing, and the spaghetti with clams was a congealed glob of pasta, clams and cheese. See the pictures. As to the other three dishes, the chicken marsala was excellent, and the short rib with risotto and cavatelli with wild boar were good but not great. Overall, this was a disappointing meal. I can no longer recommend Catezza over several other Italian restaurants in Red Bank. read more

Catezza is a beautiful restaurant in a super cool location, but it suffers from inconsistent food quality. As we all know, dining out has increased in cost for a multitude of reasons so when my husband and I go out, we want to ensure that we are receiving the best experience, which this wasn't. First, we were introduced to our serving team. It appeared as if one was training with the other, but this was never stated to us, so we were a bit puzzled. After perusing the menu with our friends, the main (?) server approached us to order; he strongly recommended several dishes to us, but when asked why, he stated that these are what most of the diner's order, which we found rather odd. Wouldn't you talk up the most delicious of your entrees? (More on that later!) As the night progressed our service was attentive, however, the young trainee brazenly cracked the plates and silverware violently onto the table in between courses which was very off-putting, besides also being quite unprofessional. Our waiter, despite being attentive to our preferences and needs, also forgot several times to bring us drinks throughout the evening. On to the food. We started with the bread service and the meatballs. The bread was coated in olive oil and tasted homemade and the goat cheese ricotta that accompanied it was a tasty addition. The meatballs were hearty and cooked in a delicious sauce that we all enjoyed. For entrees, one couple ordered the pork chop and the short rib pasta, and we ordered the Rigatoni Amatriciana and the pork chop entrée, too. The waiter assured us that both chops would be cooked to a perfect medium temperature, which we were all okay with. When our entrees arrived, my husband started with the pasta, and I cut into the pork chop, which was not an easy feat. I sawed a bit, which told me right away that something was wrong. Pork should be tender and juicy. I took a bite, and it was chewy and didn't have much flavor. I told my husband and friends. Upon trying theirs, they all agreed that the meat was overcooked, chewy, and lacked flavor, despite the waiter's earlier assurance that the pork was often ordered and enjoyed by guests. When our waiter checked in, we let him know this right away; he apologized and went to get his manager for us, so we carried on eating our pasta dishes. The pasta dish was just okay; the pasta was not al dente, and the flavor was nothing special at all. When the manager arrived, she apologized, quickly stated she would have the chef fire up two new pork chops, then quickly disappeared to tell the chef. I was unhappy with how quick this interaction was; if we ALL dislike the chops, why would making two new ones fix the issue? We discussed calling him back to state we either wanted a different dish or just nothing else, but we were bot approached again. About 20 minutes later we received both new pork chops. Unfortunately, despite being brand new re-fired entrees, they were the same as the first round- tough to cut, chewy, and lacking juiciness and flavor. We all decided that this was most likely inferior meat, however, at 44 dollars per entrée, that is just unacceptable. They also comped us the final two alcoholic beverages for free, but by then, it was the end of the meal, the waiter had forgotten to get the drinks earlier on, and we were full and did not want to drink anymore. I ended up bringing the chop home for my hungry 18-year-old son to eat the next day. Overall, Catezza does need to work out these inconsistencies in order for me to merit another visit. read more

The food and service at Catezza is absolutely incredible! A beautiful restaurant on Broad Street, their staff accommodated our large party of nine with ease. Michael, our server, was very attentive and personable. He also gave great recommendations. Everything from the bread service, cocktails, appetizers, and the entrees were incredible. Some of us got different fresh pasta dishes (I'm still thinking about my broccoli rabe rigatoni days later!) and several others got the short rib risotto and chicken Marsala. We wanted to try the fish special, but they unfortunately ran out of fish. I will definitely return to Catezza! read more

We had dinner here for the first time last night and it was amazing! The beet and pistachio salad was very tasty and my husband said the veal Parmesan special was the best he's ever had. You won't find any red sauces or typical Italian restaurant dishes that populate the myriad of Italian joints here at the shore. Aimed at an upscale yuppie crowd, the dishes are exciting and very tasty. It also has an interesting drinks menu. Besides different cocktails, it offers something I haven't seen at any other shore restaurant; a choice of make your own gin and tonics with a choice of different and different tonics which you mix and match. With a contemporary decor and a very friend wait staff, it is a worth a visit. Two negatives to be aware of though, when the restaurant is filled, it gets very noisy and as it has Manhattan pretensions, it has Manhattan prices. read more

This is a beautiful new addition to Red bank's Main Street. The lounge area they have at the front of the restaurant by the bar makes this a great spot for grabbing a drink. The dining area has an elevated and classy dining feel. We sat by the lounge area as we came in for drinks. I opted for the pick your gin and tonic option on the menu and it was excellent. Im a big fan of the Mediterranean fever tree tonic and was excited to see it on the menu! It is a bit pricey but I would definitely save this spot for a special occasion. read more

We were excited to try this newly opened Italian Restaurant, and it didn't disappoint. They excelled with their homemade pasta dishes. We absolutely LOVED the lemon cacio e Pepe and Gorgonzola walnut spaghetti! For appetizers we had the burrata caponata crostini and the Caesar salad. The Caesar salad dressing tastes odd. It looked like a raw egg on top of a salad, and it was very salty. I let the waiter know, and he was happy for the feedback. He took it off the bill, and the chef was changing up the dressing recipe after my feedback. The burrata caponata crostini was very good! The crostini bread was delicious and so was the caponata on top. For dessert we had the torta al cioccolato (chocolate cake) and budino di pane (bread pudding). The chocolate cake was good, but could of been more moist. The bread pudding was too small and tasted nothing like bread pudding. The caramelized lemon mousse was delicious, but I wish it was actually on top of bread pudding. Our waiter was excellent and so was the manager. Prices were very reasonable for a restaurant located in Red Bank. We are looking forward to trying some other dishes here soon. I recommend dining at Catezza in Red Bank! read more

TLDR: Debacle. Food not good, service bad. Too many good Italian places nearby to come here again. Went on Saturday night with party of 4. Decided on Catezza as we've never been, it is nearby and the only place we could get a table at an "upscale" place last minute. Place is nice inside, nice little bar, they sat us 1st level in the back near the kitchen which I didn't mind at all (realizing some people like to be near/see the action in the kitchen). Server (Paul V) was nice enough but inexperienced and busboys clearly didn't know what they were doing. Server started by telling us they were out of 2 entrees and 1 of the starters (seemed strange for 7:30pm Saturday night). Then he came back a short while later and informed they're out of a 3rd entree (KIM they have a small menu as it is). Oh, and no specials. Bread (must purchase $7) was bad - like thick cut, bland whole grain with some oil on it. The tuna app with crispy rice tasted like fish sticks- do not expect crispy rice like you've had before - this version has a fried breaded outside with mushy risotto inside - no bueno). Mussels were good and eggplant crostini was great. Pizza (which was ordered as a dinner but came while we were finishing starters) - was fine. But the 2 spaghetti w/clams and 1 Lemon Cacio e Pepe were awful. The spaghetti w/clams was inedible - unbelievable salty, one of the dishes had like 2 clams, and were nothing like any version of a clam sauce we've ever seen. It was almost like a creamy? concoction of spaghetti with some kind of terrible taste mixed in. The plates were very hot which means they were under heat lamps for an extended time. The Lemon Cacio e Pepe looked almost the same - with a yellowish cream-like concoction - it seriously was gross. The server came by just as the food was brought to the table to ask if everything "looked" ok and before we could even respond he ran off - almost like he knew better than to ask how the food was..We wanted to send it back - or at least tell him how disappointed we were, since at that point we were so turned off we would not have wanted him to bring us a different dish. However he didn't return for about 30mins, and at that point we just wanted to cut our losses. Of course he did not inquire as to why the 3 pasta entrees were barely touched. I asked for the check and he came by quickly to drop it off. It was like he was making himself scarce so he could avoid any feedback. Oh and did I mention a smoke alarm went off for what seemed an eternity (was probably more like 15-20 minutes) and while we saw everyone in the kitchen go out the back, we just stayed at our table as we saw most other patrons doing the same thing. NO ONE ever came by to tell us what caused it or whether there was really an issue. We had to flag down one of the clueless busboys - same one who asked us if we want the pizza in a to-go box as the entrees were coming out. Unless they do a complete overall of the menu and bring in a new chef and waitstaff, I'll be shocked if this place is still open in a year. read more

Have been to Catezza twice and the food, service and ambiance have been tremendous. Jackie the manager and Francesca the bartender made us feel at home. We had reservations several weeks ago on a saturday night. This was the old catch 19. They put a very small bar in front of the restaurant which is too small to accommodate the size of the space and the clientele. We waited approximately twenty minutes for a drink the bartender . She wasn't engaging. She forced on 3 girls Eventually my friend's wife waved to get a attention and it looked like we were interrupting her. We finally got our drinks around 720. 20 minutes after we arrived. We all decided two order four appetizes split them and they get our own entrees individually. There was an issue with my friend's wife's meal. A very tall gentleman stopped by and was very polite and professional. Our waitress was 5 out of 5. Food 3 out of 5. They should decide do the went to be added to the best restaurants in red bank list Or be a club. We we're all hoping to have another great restaurant but unfortunately it is not. We? For an Italian restaurant to stand out in Red Bank - where there are already at least five in walking distance from one another - it better be good. This place is great. The food is outstanding, the service is excellent, and the ambiance is upscale, but not stuffy. From a well stocked bar, tended by a man who knows how to mix drinks, to a chef who visits each table, Catezza aims to please. With it's modern approach to Italian cuisine, it is a welcome addition to Red Bank's restaurant scene, which is saturated with your average red sauce, pasta places. Try it with an open mind, and an empty stomach - both will be satisfied. read more

This was our second visit to Catezza and it was much different than our first. We ordered the two tuna appetizers, the gabagool and carpaccio crostinis and a margarita pizza. Pizza was ehh, nothing crazy. Everything else was delicious. Dinner is where things went downhill. They had a scallops special which two of the members of my party ordered. When the food arrived, the portions were ridiculously small. Wasn't even served on a dinner plate - instead on a small child's size plate. I don't know how management thought this was acceptable. Definitely would be more suited as an appetizer. I had the spicy rigatoni and the sauce tasted burnt. My husband had the pork chop and I think he made out the best. Drinks are definitely over priced as well. The ambience is beautiful, I just wish the food was better. read more

I was really excited to try this new place. Went for dinner on Saturday night. Our server was lovely, albeit she seemed a bit nervous. The menu was a bit more limited than I expected. A good variety of pasta dishes however. We had to ASK the server if there were any specials as she didn't mention it and she pointed out there was 1 but she wasn't sure of they were out of it. She returned and said it was available, it was a Ravioli special. We ordered the fig and prosciutto salad and we really had to look hard to locate the figs and or the prosciutto it was very dry and disappointing. I ordered the Airline chicken which is one of their signature dishes ( as per my server) along with the Sicilian potatoes. The portions are not huge, the chicken was very good but was missing the roasted potatoes that were supposed to come with the dish, when I inquired about them my server said that the dish comes with seasonal vegetables and that was the reason that the dish was missing the potatoes - this is something that should have been pointed out when ordering. My girlfriend's dish was very tasty and interesting. The Sicilian potatoes were good albeit the portion very small. We had to ask multiple times to have our water refilled. All of the servers and staff were extremely pleasant and professional but you can tell they are still working the kinks out of the place. The decor is very very nice, we ate downstairs but it is very very loud. We spoke to a couple sitting next to us and they mentioned how loud it was as well and they also had some mixed reviews on their meal.. I did not go upstairs so that might be a better option. I was hoping that the food and experience would have been great but I did leave somewhat underwhelmed. I will definitely give it another try as I think the people running the place definitely have some experience and everyone deserves a 2nd chance.
