    Sole Almondine with Risotto
    Jenn M.

This restaurant was recommended by a local hotel, and it was well deserving of the recommendation! We started with Chicken and Rice Soup which was obviously made daily and with fresh ingredients. The sole was topped with thinly sliced almonds and served atop a generous portion of perfectly cooked risotto. The penne bolognese was not only delicious, but it was very nice to learn they offer gluten free penne pasta. And our server was a sweetheart! The restaurant isn't much to look at from the outside, but don't let the exterior fool you...it's quite lovely inside.

I came for the name. I found it on Yelp planning out my trip, saw the name, and was completely won over. And frankly, I have no regrets. Tally-Ho is in an unassuming building by itself off a busy road (no left turns to exit). The interior is clean, clean white walls and black tables largely lit by natural sunlight for lunch. There are tables in window alcoves. There's also a bar that serves libations and allows the lunch crowd to eat. It's hard to find escargot, at least in the circles I run in, and the appetizer was such a treat! The seasoning enhanced the escargot, and the garlic toast was great to help soak up the excess. The roast beef sandwich was a great deal - it provided almost too much roast beef, and was nicely chilled. The waitress/bar tender Christine was also an absolute delight, she was very kind and involved with all of her patrons, making sure we were taken care of. They're lucky to have her!

Food and service were excellent. I'm sensitive to garlic so they customized my meal for me.

Here are my go to- Fig and Pig flatbread absolutely delicious if you want something filling but not heavy. I also enjoy the nachos which I have shared with my hubby, because it is a lot for one person (in my opinion) or at least for me, lol. If you like deviled eggs, the fried deviled eggs are a favorite of my husband. Duck wings are really tasty, I have enjoyed them a few times and they are great every time the sauce is really good. My husband also loves the classic burger with extra bacon there is a extra charge- but so worth it. I also enjoy the pot pie on cold winter nights it just hits right. As far as drinks go, they make a great Manhattan and the Old Fashioned is made with Woodford Reserve one of my "Go To Bourbon Whiskeys" and it is really nice with a steak, they have a really nice ribeye and it is always cooked perfectly. I had the Crown Apple Mule and I wasn't sure if I would like it, but it was refreshing without being overly apple-ee. I have had many salads here, but I always ask for the honey- lime vinaigrette dressing it is tasty and really goes on any of the basic salads except for the Caesar for obvious reasons, but it is even good, at least for me on the shrimp salad and even when I order the salmon instead of shrimp, its nice. You really can't go wrong with anything here, the menu isn't huge, but what they do, they do well, the staff is really nice and friendly and they pretty much can make any drink you ask for and if you like Bloody Mary's they have them and they are fantastic, I like mine with extra lemon and a bit spicey.

Friendly and efficient staff. Food ... oh the food is truly for "foodies". I can always find something eclectic while my husband smiles and almost inhales his more standard choices. Both of us always full after eating our different personal choices. It would almost be criminal not to bring up their soups. So good that once this month both my husband and I had cups of lobster bisque before our breakfast entrees. Last weekend's breakfast I had a cup of lemon chicken orzo soup that was rich, creamy, lemony goodness bathing the chunks of chicken. Today at lunch I had a delightful tomato basil that made me think of my mom with every spoonful. My husband had a delicious matzo ball soup where I could smell the chicken and simmered vegetables from across the table. We are working our way through the menu with many forays into their ever changing "specials" menu. Today lunch consisted of three pork chops, mashed potatoes and corn for my hubby. I expect him to sink into his barcalounger and sleep the afternoon away before tomorrow's blizzard. I had succulent chopped beef that was smothered under mushrooms, onions and gravy. Mashed potatoes with melted cheese and scallions and corn on the side. Who knew I would want hot honey on anything much less a breakfast item? This restaurant gets that people like me want to try new flavors amidst the familiar so earlier this month I had a breakfast burrito lined with pancakes, filled with eggs, sausage and bacon then deep fried like a chimichanga. Crunchy goodness. But it was the addition of hot honey that made the item sing! A great way to try hot honey IF you have not explored it elsewhere because you can request it on the side in a small syrup container and then you get to control how much you try. Me? I ended up dumping the whole container of warmed hot honey all over my burrito and I have been craving more plates of that entree ever since!
