I ordered the regular Seafood Platter at the front desk and even left a 20% tip for a takeout order. The lady at the front desk said it would be about 5 minutes; that should have been my first warning. Unfortunately, when I did get my order there was no coleslaw, extremely small pieces of catfish and a tasteless stuffed crab. When I called about it, rather than apologise, the woman essentially told me that it was my fault cuz I should have checked the bag. Me and my wife used to eat there about 20 years ago. Was passing through town and decided to stop. Was very disappointed. The server was very nice. Ordered the whole catfish, the service was very slow, the baked potato was old and had a brown color on the inside. The fish did not have much batter on it and the fish was very greasy tasting. I was in the Athens restaurant today at 3pm. We was seated right away and given a menu as we was seated. At 3:15 pm we was still setting there, no one came and took our drink order or ask if we was ready to order. Three different waitress walked by us on different occasions asking other diners setting all around us if they needed anything like refills and other things. This was my first time in your restaurant and was looking forward to trying it out. At 3:15pm I got up and walked out. I will never be back to your establishment and plan on telling everyone I know about my experience there. No stars given for no service at all. But had to put a star just to post. read more

The service was horrible. Went with my family all excited thinking we were going to enjoy a nice Sunday meal. Instead we recieved horrible service and didn't even receive our food after witnessing 5 other tables get they food well after we had been there and ordered. All the server could say was the kitchen no it's not because everyone after use is recieving there food and or order was easy as possible. Left the place called and all they could say was sorry but couldn't offer any reasonable explanation for nothing not even to offer a free meal or anything. Went in for dinner with my family because we have never tried it yet n wanted to see how it was . When we first got there the service was good the waitress brought us our drinks right away. She cam back and took our orders not toobling after. We were sitting there for about 15 ish minutes and 3 other tables that came in after my family got their orders taken n had their food before we did . We order some mac n cheese a baked potato and some fried fish. 2 other tables had the same thing but got theirs before we did... My husband called the restaurant and asked to speak to the owner and all she said was she was sorry that was it not a I'm so sorry ill give your family free meal I'll give you a discount nothing like that at all. Service was outstanding. The young man was really attentive and made sure our visit was comfortable. The food, on the other hand, was not what I expected for a seafood restaurant. It was more on the lines of fast food. Everything was fried. The catfish was not meaty and the stuffed crab was horrible. The only good thing was the device, hush puppies and the ice tea. On Veteran's Day, 2021, my husband and I, both Army Vets, went to Catfish Cabin II to enjoy their offer of a free meal. I had catfish filet and my husband had a Salisbury steak. We were both more than satisfied. We arrived around 5 pm, and it wasn't yet crowded. Our server was excellent. The food was spectacular. My catfish filet had multiple pieces cut from the filet, which I think someone else disliked in prior reviews. For me, it is the taste versus the need to see a display of a whole filet. The taste was southern style's best: corn meal breading, crisp outer and perfectly tender inside, not over- or under-cooked -- absolute fried catfish perfection. The size of the order was huge in my opinion. Hush puppies were magnificently crisp on the outside, included onions on the inside, and were drool worthy!! Cole slaw was a taste I hadn't had before, and it was awesome. No added calories from mayonnaise, but a sweet/sour type taste that was different and fresh-tasting. My large glass of tea lasted the entire meal with no refill necessary. Although I was stuffed and had to ask for a take-out for my leftovers, I ordered a piece of peanut butter pie for home. Ummmmm. It was great! My husband enjoyed his ground steak, but thought his French Fries were not quite cooked through. Since it was a free meal, he didn't feel comfortable asking for a corrections. From what we saw, I would have been comfortable to ask and I think it would have been taken care of. In summary, I highly recommend Catfish Cabin II. And, to the owners and staff, thank you for the delightful meal and service you provided to us on Veteran's Day. read more

This place has gone through a new renovation in the last year. However food quality has suffered some and prices have gone up greatly, especially during lunch time hour. This used to be one of our favorite middle of the week places to go for dinner, but now, even sharing a meal has become too pricey to do more than once a month. Service is usually good, waitresses have worked there a long time and know locals. One thing they could do is focus on hiring a good fry cook, because their food was much better a few years ago. I did not get what I ordered and when I called to complain I was called a liar...I order there regular seafood platter was supposed to be 2 catfish filets, 2 fried shrimp, 2 boiled shrimp, 2 fried oysters, and a stuffed crab, a baked potato and hush puppies for $13.95 good deal you would think... the fish fillets were little nuggets...I guess so you won't know if you got a 2 fish filets...the I did not get the oysters and the stuffed crab was stuffing only no crab meat...you would figure since you ordered a platter you would get tarter sauce and cocktail sauce...I had to pay $2 extra for those...the food was greasy and nasty along with a snotty attitude from the woman woman at the window...I will never go back and will tell others not to either ... I could have gotten better food and service at Captain D's... I like shopping local but around here the food and services are not all that and I have to go to another county to get good food and service...that's a shame ...I don't want to give it a star but I had to before I could post a review read more

Service is really really really really slow. It took 10 mins for a waitress to even greet us and another 5-10 mins to get drinks to the table. Appetizer took about 15 minutes to get to the table. We placed our food order about 10 mins after appetizer and 20 minutes after we got our appetizer we are still waiting on food. We couldn't order stuffed crab & oysters because they were out, REALLY?? Food isn't that good, fast food quality so far. You can tell everything is frozen and not seasoned. Only thing that is good is the hush puppies and tartar sauce. I ordered the snow crab and it wasn't as sweet and fresh as a lot of other places in the area. We won't be returning to this restaurant. All the staff seems to be eating while serving and greeting customers that are waiting to be seated. This is a poorly managed restaurant. This is sad we had such high hopes for this restaurant, it has so much potential!!! Thank god I didn't save this restaurant for a special occasion like my anniversary. I wished I read the comments before my husband said let's eat here, its pretty good. See sign outside saying Lions meet here every 1st and 3rd Tuesday. Well to me that means 1 of 2 things. 1. Food is really good or 2. The food is really bad and they have no other local spot that can hold them all. Well the second one is true. Service started off very slow. Took 10 mins to get our drink orders. Not to mention how hot it was in there due to their a/c out? And the abundance of flies that are flying around. They have on menu homemade Cole slaw and tarter sauce. Cole slaw they use sweet pickle relish in it. Just yuck, yuck, yuck I got the blacken catfish 5 small pieces are $11.49 AND it looks burnt and lacks flavor. You can tell that the fish is frozen. Baked potato was under cooked. And my husband who eats everything hardly touched his food. I know that I will not be returning to this establishment. The food was really good. But then my husband pulled a long hair out his mouth from eating a fry. It was disgusting. Our waitress didn't apologize, she just took it and brought a new plate. I think the waitress should've atleast acknowledge the awfulness of the experience or gave us the meal for free. Have eaten here now for about the fourth time in the last year. Don't ask me why it took so long because each time I have eaten here, food has been great. No problem with service, and all the serving staff have been nothing but friendly. Took my brother last week---and HE IS hard to please, talked him into getting the senior plate, one fillet. He said when finished, way too much food. I told him---Told you so. Think he will be back and he lives in H'ville.
