Had a dinner date at this restaurant last night. The hostess and our waitress were both very sweet, friendly and excellent service. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp for an appetizer-DELICIOUS! For my entree I had the shrimp Alfredo & my date had the steak & shrimp. The shrimp Alfredo was decent, the sauce was not creamy but very thin. With that said I took the leftovers home and had it for lunch. This made a world of difference! The sauce thickened to the desired consistency, and everything was delicious! I've been coming to D&L for years. I consider this to be my "treat" restaurant because it's a really nice place. They recently closed for a renovation and I wanted to come see the new restaurant. Here are my pros and cons: PROS: The new look is gorgeous. It looks brighter and cleaner with the new colors and lighting. Of course I always check the restroom and it was clean as usual. D&L has never disappointed me with cleanliness. The service was fast and friendly. The server made sure my drink was full, made sure my appetizers came out first, made sure I had some time to finish my apps before the entre came out, and asked if I wanted dessert before bringing the check (which many servers in town don't do). Even asked if I wanted a to go drink. Very good service. The food was delicious. I got the calamari and shrimp egg rolls for an appetizer and the grilled jumbo shrimp as an entre. Over the years I've tried the entire menu, and nothing I've ever tried was bad. The food is fresh and always cooked to perfection. Never had anything over/under cooked or tasting funny. CONS: Honestly this is my one and only complaint. Whoever picked out the chairs for the renovation made a huge mistake. The design of the chair has these little ridges where the arms of the chair would be, and if you are a wide booty individual such as myself, they dig into your hips the whole time. I could not sit back into the chair as the ridges get more narrow toward the back of the chair. I sat on the edge of my seat the whole time and it was VERY uncomfortable on my hips AND back. And it's not like I'm "circus attraction" enormous. I'm just a big guy slightly wider than average. There was a lady there also in the wide booty club while I was and I could tell she was uncomfortable too. Other than replacing the chairs with flat seats, I would make no changes to the experience. Good food, good service, good prices for what you get, and clean. All you can ask for in a restaurant. Any other day I would have given them 5 stars and wished I could give them 6, but those chairs are really bad and I had to take one star away. read more

D&L Seafood is so delicious! Fresh seafood, my favorite thus far has been the shrimp and scallops blackened. I was not impressed with the shrimp and grits at all. Very bland, the sauce was random and it just didn't go together if need more of everything- flavor. The side salads are delicious. The popcorn shrimp is so good definitely the best in the area. It can get extremely busy especially after 6, but it is worth the wait. The hushpuppies are just ok, not homemade definitely frozen but hit the spot if you want hushpuppies. Overall everything I have had so far has been great except the shrimp and grits.. Overall great restaurant, great locals, great waitstaff. I will definitely be back! read more

I ordered the seafood gumbo which comes with two eggrolls, and the wife had popcorn shrimp with french fries and a salad. The seafood gumbo was good and the two eggrolls were good also. The popcorn shrimp was average. The salad was a nice portion of the lettuce and a few vegetables. But by the way the food tasted and the service level we got, you would've never guessed that we were "those people" who show up right before close. Great food. Prices are reasonable, portions are large. I got the grilled snapper and shrimp plate while my love got the steamed Seafood platter, which consisted of king crab, snow crab and shrimp. They were out of muscles but that was cool because she's not a fan of them anyway so we got extra shrimp.
