I had the fried combo with fried catfish, fried shrimp, and the Cajun fries. I thought my food was pretty good. I tried some of my son's seafood boil he had and it was not too bad, but I've had better. I'm not sure if I'll go back, especially if we're in the party room. read more

Had dinner at Moody Crab on New Years Eve. I had never been here mainly because of previous reviews, but we decided to give it a try. We were promptly and professionally greeted and seated. Being our first time, we were never made to feel rushed making a decision on what we wanted to order. Once we did order, our food arrived very promptly and super hot off the stove. Everything was very tasty and seasoned just as I ordered. The shrimp was fresh and the sausage was delicious. Our whole meal was delicious. I ordered an extra to-go boil variety for my son. He stated his to-go order was very good and generous portions. All wait staff we encountered was professional and nice. I am glad I decided to give it a try and form my own opinions. We have a business like this back home so I was down to this business. Our friend that lives in Alabama says this Moody Crab has been here for 2 years and there are 2 more locations. The sauce is not at all as strong as ours which is a relief haha and the waitress recommended mild spice which is perfect with it. The shrimp & crab are delicious. Our server never asked if we wanted a refill, let our table piled up with plates, we had to ask more than once for butter, we both asked for a second round of doz oysters. We waited over 30 minutes after we were done with the first round. When asked about them Kevin our server replied oh it must be our kitchen without even going back to check. We told him to forget it we were tired waiting. We spent almost $100 we would NOT recommend this place if you expect good service. read more

Food is good as always. Service has always been great until tonight. My husband and I went in for a date night and our waitress (Blakely) was horrible. She continuously made rude faces at me and tried flirting with my husband. Continued to fill his drink and completely ignore me, my husband had to ask her to refill my water twice. Not sure if she is new but we will not be back which is a shame cuz we always bring family and friends to this establishment. I've never experienced such horrible service. read more

5/10/2025 My son took me to the moody crab in Decatur. The food was outstanding, the server Kevin was not. We had to ask for butter twice, he never put in our order for 2nd round of oysters, let our table stacked up and never came around to refill our drinks. The service ruined it for us. I would think twice before I would consider going to this restaurant. read more

The restaurant had a casual atmosphere with lots of rope and marine accents. Our server Tonya was super friendly and took great care of us. We ordered fried combos--mine with catfish and calamari and my husband's with catfish, calamari, and shrimp. We both got Cajun fries. I thought the food was great. My husband is a little pickier about his catfish and won't hardly eat it if it has a real fishy flavor. He said he would have rather had more shrimp and calamari. Also, he said the men's bathroom was really nasty and needed to be checked and cleaned. Otherwise, it was a good experience. read more

This restaurant was fantastic! From walking in, being greeted and seated quickly. Zoey was my server. She was very attentive, friendly and fast. The atmosphere was crab themed and bar with a nice selection of drinks! Food was so delicious. I had the 1/2 lb shrimp with moody mild seasoning (which comes with potato & corn) and side of steamed rice. I was expecting the tab to be a lot higher, but food with drink (sweet tea) was less than $20. read more

Me and my husband ate at The Moody Crab on 09/02/2023. I got the king crab legs and my husband got the combo B. We were very disappointed the server forgot my soda I didn't get it until after my meal was served and I had to go ask the bartender for my soda. The crab legs were so fishy and freezer burnt tasting. I tried my husbands craw fish and it was the same horrible taste. Our server was no where to be found i again had to go to the bar and get some lemon to try and neutralize the freezer burned/fishy taste. We couldn't find our server to pay the bill. The bill was $100 we tipped our server 15% even though she gave us poor service do yourself a favor and don't eat here It's not good at all! read more

This is my favorite boiled sea food restaurant, the moody special really is all that special. I've always had great experiences with the staff here, they're attentive but don't bother you if you've got a mouth full of food which is AWESOME. Also- the seasoning on the boil is phenomenal, I'd eat here everyday if I lived closer. They leave a lot of juice behind from the boil and it adds a lot of flavor. Better than any other place I've tried. Very spacious and clean environment. I'm very happy with this place and hope they expand to Huntsville. read more

First the server was horrible. She couldn't handle our party at all!!!! She charged us for food we didn't receive and couldn't understand when we tried to explain that we did not get our food..AT ALL!! I'm guessing she must be filling in for another server because no way does she do this on a regular. We won't be back. It took over an hour to get the food they did bring. For perspective I lived in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast so I feel like I have a good grip on seafood. This is place is really, really good. I had a softshell crab po'boy and it was delicious! Not only that, but it had two crabs! My wife had the fried shrimp and they were equally good. Even though this place is in north Alabama the food tasted very fresh. Highly recommended! read more
