This business started as a pop-up at farmer's markets and such and grew to a brick and mortar. This little bakery and lunch spot is across the street from the credit union, conveniently off Whitesburg Drive. If you've ever been to any of the neighboring businesses (eg The Wine Cellar), you'll know parking is a challenge - not a ton of spots, and many of them requiring sharp angles to enter and exit. The restaurant looks a little like a small home and has a nice fenced in patio in the front. It looks like the owners are still working to put the finishing touches on the inside, but it's still cute and welcoming. There's a medium sized dining area with a window so employees can pass your food to you. A beautiful display case shows off the yummy baked goods. There are also several cold cases with prepared foods, to include appetizers, entrees, and desserts, for grab and go meals. Would be great for football games or easy entertaining! I've been twice now and staff has been sweet and helpful both times. The first time, I ordered a pan of macaroni and cheese for a Thanksgiving gathering. My in-laws don't do mac at Thanksgiving but I love it. However, I was too short on time this year and so when I saw LD's very reasonable pricing, I hopped on it. Pickup was easy. While there, I impulse bought a pumpkin cake roll because I didn't have enough pumpkin in my life. The mac and cheese was simple but well executed and went over nicely at Thanksgiving. Reheating/baking was easy, the time provided on the instructions was correct, and no mess made. No leftovers either! I really enjoyed the pumpkin roll but husband said it had too many pumpkin/fall spices for him. More for me. ;) I came again this week because I'd been wanting to actually have lunch here. They have simple breakfast and lunch items (breakfast burritos, paninis, sliders, etc) and I was excited to give it a go. I ordered the pimento cheese grilled cheese. I'd hoped for a side of macaroni salad but they were out so I wound up with Miss Vickie's chips instead. I also got a trail mix bar for a snack later because I can't ever resist those types of goodies. My sandwich came out promptly: pimento cheese and bacon griddled on jalapeño cheddar bread. The staff member apologized for it being messy, which it certainly was lol; I had to get a fork to eat the plummeting clumps of pimento cheese. Messiness aside, I enjoyed the sandwich. The pimento cheese was appropriately gooey and cheesy. I wish the bacon had been a little crispier but it was an ample amount. My favorite part was the bread; the jalapeño flavor was subtle but there and it was the perfect texture for a panini. The trail mix bar I had later was packed full of goodies and also yummy. Give this local business a try sometime! I especially love them for the ease and convenience of their take and bake goods.

Since it is in the main part of downtown, super close parking is a bit of a big ask; we parked at a public government building about two blocks down and walked over. The inside is very small and only has a couple of two-seater tables and one bench setup, but there are multiple nice metal tables outside to sit at if the weather is good. Fortunately, we lucked out in that regard, as it was a nice day. The inside of the restaurant smelled absolutely amazing, so I was excited to order. Their lunch menu mostly consists of sandwiches and burgers, with limited sides like chips, broccoli salad, soup of the day, and so on. Bottled drinks and a couple of desserts round it all out. My parents split a Philly cheese steak sandwich with pasta salad; I got a chicken cheese steak with a cup of the soup of the day (potato), and we shared a slice of strawberry pretzel salad for dessert! The employees were nice enough to bring our food out to us while we were at a metal table on the patio, so that was sweet. Food came out relatively quickly and was definitely fresh. Overall, it was fine! My favorite thing was probably the strawberry pretzel salad; I wish I'd had a little more but I should've ordered my own portion! lol. The potato soup had really nice garlicky croutons on top that I enjoyed, though I wish there'd been bigger chunks of potato in it. I liked my chicken Philly just fine though I feel like it was missing some sort of flavor somewhere. My parents felt the same about their regular Philly. Unlike me, though, my mom unfortunately got several gristley bits she had to spit out. The chicken didn't have that same problem. The girl who took our order was incredibly friendly, and the service was quick from the moment we walked in. I ordered Dad's Egg Sandwich, and Mom got the Vegetable Frittata. The bacon on my sandwich was the standout--nice, thick, and perfectly cooked. My only complaint is that the menu mentioned garlic, but I honestly couldn't taste any. If you're going to promise garlic, I want to taste garlic! Mom really enjoyed her frittata, although I think she's getting a little tired of egg dishes lately. She especially loved the toast and whatever butter they served with it. It almost tasted like maple butter, and it was delicious. The fresh fruit was also excellent (I happily finished Mom's!). This small bakery is tucked away next to Big Bad Breakfast off Highway 72. It's named such because the owner's child has a congenital heart defect and she wants to bring awareness to the condition through baking. Sweet and commendable goal. It's definitely a come-and-go type of place; there's not much seating inside, but it is very cute and clean! There's a large shelf of fresh breads and then a display table and display cooler of amazing baked goods. The owner identifies as Hispanic and Italian and it's reflective in her baked goods. There are some truly creative and unique goodies to be found here -- beautiful to look at, executed impeccably, and delicious to taste. A young woman -- heck, maybe a teenager -- greeted me when I walked in. She was soft-spoken but very polite and helpful. They had sold out of a few things but still had reasonably ample displays when I arrived after lunch. A small plate with one of their breads and olive oil for dipping sat for sampling next to the register. I selected a sweetened condensed milk mini pie, a dulce de leche turnover, and the viral chocolate chip cookie croissant. ALL were delicious. My least favorite was the dulce de leche turnover, simply because I'd have liked a *teeny* bit more filling in it. The pastry itself was golden and flaky and the Dulce de leche was smooth and super sweet. Still like a 8/10 but the other two items I got... I'd not had a chance to nab a chocolate chip cookie croissant yet. I know The Moon offers them as well but I think that's the only other spot around town that does. This first try already has my heart, though; I don't need to try elsewhere. Somehow the croissant was flaky and buttery while the cookie baked on top of it was perfectly chewy. There was more cookie goo inside that was still, well, gooey. The texture was amazing and somehow it wasn't overly sweet and the chips weren't overly chunky (which is usually a problem for me in CC cookies). Also, the croissant was ENORMOUS. My husband was glad I was willing to share. ;) The sweetened condensed milk mini pie was unlike any treat I've had before and I loved it. Sweet, creamy, chewy, sticky...the meringue on top was an amazing marshmallow-y texture and the crust on the bottom was a crumbly delight. I loved this! They also have coffee drinks available but I didn't buy any this time. I cannot WAIT to return and try more delicious treats. Even though it's out of the way for me, this bakery is worth a special trip.
