Wonderful!! Lots of choices on the menu. I could go there just for the hush puppies-best I've ever had. The jalapeño tartar sauce is delicious. Everything is wonderful. I usually get either fried shrimp/oysters, or the catfish. Hubby always gets something new, and he's never disappointed. The fried shrimp and oysters are fried to perfection, and so tasty! The catfish practically melts in your mouth. Sides of coleslaw, beans (made with beer), and fries are good also. They keep your glass filled whether it's tea or beer. Just got back from CP. it is really a fun place. We all had fried catfish, I had the spicy. The spices were just how I like, there, and leaves a slight tingle on your tongue, but in no way "hot". The others had the regular, and said it was also very good. Caesar salad lettuce was very crisp and fresh. The cole slaw was the best I have EVER tasted, I wish I had the recipe. It was an oil and vinegar dressing, not mayo based. I didn't care for the hush puppies, but I don't really like them anywhere. The regular tartar sauce was good. The jalapeño was ok. The beans were very good! But then I dearly love beans. All in all, CP is a lot of fun, with lots of crazy crap on the walls. It kinda neat to just walk around and look. Waitstaff were attentive but not hovering. Owner was also checking on tables. He seems to honestly care about his guests. Yes, I will most certainly return. read more

We just visited for the first time in a year. It was the best service I have had since living in Georgetown for the last 6 years. As usual, I'm traveling around and trying to find a new place to eat and stay away from the chain restaurants. This is one of those places that you're so happy to find that you just have to write about it. As soon as you walk through the door the Staff is trying to kill you with kindness and help you with anything. Their catfish is perfect. They are not over breaded and they're not greasy. The hush puppies aren't bad, but they are different. Kind of remind me of a corn mush. I like corn mush so that was fine with me. All the other sides were awesome. This place definitely put their own touch on some of them. This is a place that u definitely want to mark as one of your favorites. This is definitely a Catfish Parlor, with just enough difference to make it a classic family hang out. read more

It's difficult for me to find a place that everyone in the family enjoys as our tastes are varied, but Catfish Parlour has something for everyone! No one left hungry and everyone really enjoyed their meal...the entrees were awesome as were all the sides! It was a first-time trip for me and I wish I had gone much sooner! The owner is offering a portion of the sales from our elementary school families to our school's PTA..I really appreciate a business that invests in the community. Terrrible service. If I could never get Edna again as a server it would make the mediocre food palatable. The oysters were passable but everything else was over fried and obviously frozen. Our server was the worst, rude old lady who didn't speak to us more than wanting to take our order while rushing about to service other tables. It's astounding the fact that I was the only interracial gay couple around and this lady could not let it go with all the snide comments and awful service. If I can impress anything on anyone reading this is that you should never ever ever patronize this establishment. Waste of 85 bucks. read more

I love this restaurant. It's not fancy but the food is delicious and the service is great! I like that they have a full gluten free menu. It's a great place to eat if you have a gluten allergy or Celiac. They have a separate fryer that they use for the gluten free meals so there is no chance of cross contamination. read more

Last week, you got my phone order completely wrong that resulted in a 40 minute wait for you to make it right. Tonight, I was charged full price for a 6 piece grilled shrimp A LA CART. No hush puppies, broccoli or rice. Shrimp ONLY. For $17.00. Completely unacceptable. My wife and I grew up with Carfish Parlor. We're new to town and thought we'd try it out since it's close to our home. We were so disappointed! The fish tasted "like fresh cut grass smells" was the description my brother used. To me, it tasted like drinking from a dirty river. It was absolutely awful. The beans that come as a side were very bland and totally inedible as well. The slaw was good, the chicken tenders were good, and my meatloaf was "ok". Edible, but I wouldn't order it again. Most frustrating, though was the price. I'm not opposed to paying $50+ for 3 people to eat, but I expect far better quality than this. It was crappier than Long John Silvers and 4x as expensive. read more

We have gone here a couple times. Normally once a year. It is just a down home simple type of food. You leave needing to be rolled out... too much fish and most of the food is fried so the next day your face feels like you could slip and slide off of it. Other than the grease.... we do like the place. People are friendly and the kids get a token for a prize on their way out. Adults get a su-prize as well.... the check! I was visiting my family recently and they treated us to Catfish Parlour in Georgetown. My family loves to go there as it is one of their favorite places!! They were right. The food, atmosphere and service was outstanding!! There was something on the menu for everyone including "not fish" entrees. I had the Fried Jumbo Shrimp dish and couldn't believe how good it was. There were a big group of us and we all sampled each others dinners...the grilled dishes were prepared perfectly and even the Chicken Fried Chicken that I had a bite of was excellent!! Experienced the Parlour this afternoon, and... Tonights' adventure was the Catfish Parlour located in G-town. Truthfully speaking, we went on the basis of the reviews from yelp (and others), as well as the offer contained in our LivingSocial purchase of "spend $12 and get $24 worth of fare". We didn't trek to G-town just for the Catfish Parlour, as we stopped in at the Outlets first, then HEB for a lil cupcake decorating shin-dig, then over to Wolf Ranch for some early holiday season window shopping (and people watching), finally culminating at the CP for some late afternoon nushing. Good thing we had all the other things to do before the dining portion of our day... That's not to say it wasn't good, but I have to be honest here - those giving it 5-stars are being awfully generous. Since you can only give a maximum of 5 stars, 5 would have to indicate there isn't a thing wrong with the place, and nothing could be improved, and it was the finest meal you could ever eat! Catfish Parlour is far from 5... sorry... I'm going with three stars, and here are some of the pointers why: The ambience is actually really cool. Definitely liked the decor and the seating, and the set-up. Loved the music, as it definitely sets the tone and you almost feel like you're really, REALLY way out in the "country". It reminded one of us of like...Cracker Barrel..."in the city". The Staff immediately welcomed us in to the nearly-empty establishment, offered us pretty much any table we wanted, and we gleefully took a nice booth off to the side. We were quickly greeted by our waitress with a piping-hot initial offering of the 'famous' hush-puppies and tarter sauce/jalapeno-flavored tarter sauce dips. O-M-G those were good (but since I don't eat foods like this any more, they were guaranteed to be THAT good!). Since I had only "heard" and "read" about the Caesar Salad bar, I immediately went up to take a peek and ensure that was all I wanted. We'd eaten all weekend long, so I knew I wasn't going to be hungry enough for an entree. The romain lettuce looked beautifully clean, fresh, crisp, and READY for my fork! Accompanied by crunchy, crispy croutons, lots of shredded parm; I was set. I went with the simple $4 all-you-can-eat Fixin's as my meal. In addition to the aforementioned, there is also Ranch, Thousand Island, Honey Mustard, and mix-it-yourself Oil/Vinegar. Crackers and fresh ground pepper round out the bar. There is nothing more here...no other vegetables, nothing. So, don't expect much more. The caesar dressing was extremely salty, but I think that's to be expected of Caesar dressing. However, if you're expecting an anchovie-flavored rendition - this isn't it. I forget...did they say it was home-made? If they did, I'm not entirely sure I believe it. It tasted rather industrial. Wifey ordered the chicken-fried-chicken. She ordered mashed potatoes with it, which were smothered in white, heavy, southern-styled gravy, which we did not need or want (heck, enough with the "southern, heart-clogging" style already!). Our waitress immediately returned with a "cleaner" offering of the smashed potatoes, which at least were easier to consume. The chicken breast was rather large in portion, and definitely made for a second meal this week. Oh, and in case you didn't get enough of the gravy on the mashed, it comes with yet another bowl of the stuff. LOL! The little one ordered an Adult portion of the chicken tenders - 4-piece size. It was definitely plenty enough, really crispy, hot, and fresh. What child wouldn't LOVE that? Right? Including the wifey! :) The fries, seriously were tasty BUT far too oily. Mix that in with the hush-puppies, and you might as well find out where the AEDs are. LOL Refillable "family-style" beans...tasty (and saltyyyyyy!); cole-slaw...fresh, and, well... you know... Ok, so, everything was "tasty", but this place is NOT for the light-hearted type, or those even considering the health of your heart. This is, afterall, down-home, southern comfort foods. We kind of expected that, but wanted to give something new a try. The menu, though, has a plethora of more options available - so do check it out before you make any decision. The Manager stopped by the table to ask how things were - great move! That's an amicable thing to do. Our waitress was tremendously patient with our "first timers" personalities and delays in ordering as we perused the menu. I think when folks on here describe the Staff, they are bang-on correct. Southern folks welcoming you in to their "home" kind of atmosphere. "Will we be back"...you know that age-old question. Everyone always wants to know. So, are you going back there? Truthfully, unless we're in the area and riding on a "coupon" or offer, probably not. We're just more heart and health-conscious when we choose our dining options. Bon Appetite! read more

Great food with plenty of free salad just like the other parlour. I have been to all three of them and enjoy the food in each. The owners of each are related and great people to know . I especially like the hush puppies and jalapeño tartar sauce. If you're not in a fish mood, the chicken fried steak is delicious too. Good ambience for a first date too or for a family. read more
