Went tonite for our weekly date nite; first visit to Georgie's though we've been in Georgetown…read moresince 2003. Saw the name when searching seafood here. The website mentioned reservations but accepting walk-ins also; my wife made a reservation for 8 at 7:40p, and that turned out well, as the couple in front of us hadn't done so & went out front to wait. We had a very attentive waitress, & sat on a raised stage by the window which was cool, but note: tall chairs there maybe not great for short legs. When she poured our water we didn't have to request, she left the carafe, which I supposed was a labor saving idea --until she came back repeatedly and refilled our glasses with it! It aided our date night that the two flat screens had artworks displayed not a basketball game or Chive videos of folks getting injured for 15 seconds of fame. Menu is in the upper middle price range for us but we did an easy work-around to get some upscale food, anyway:: We ordered a bowl of gumbo from the appetizer list, with two spoons; (yeah, been married 41 years)... Arrived perfect temp, not to hot to dig right in. The 6 crab claws broken to expose the meat were a nice touch we've never seen; we try everyone's gumbo: prolly the best we've had recently if ever. Continuing that theme, we shared the 14 oz Japanese style (name recipes me) new horn strip, truly too much for one normal appetite: the already flavorful tender steak was helped even more by a unique brown sauce with capers: and my Dad said a good steak doesn't NEED any help. Well, this steak was so good let's just say "the sauce was gravy." We like Brussels sprouts broiled; so my wife asked when ordering the steak, which comes with creamed sprouts, if they could be broiled: instead our waitress asked the chefs who actually flash fried them with salt and pepper, perfectly, with crunchy outer leaves & al dent inside. My wife ordered a 14.00 glass of Pinot noir; the cool wine glass was a generous size --and filled generously. We like the pretentious wine descriptions from the backs of bottles; bartender let us take a photo of the label but suggested the "vivino" app to get the lowdown on any wine. Finished off sharing the bread pudding with rum soaked yellow raisins, great flavor without excess sweetness, and thanked our waitress Katy.

As a combat vet, I feel uncomfortable AF eating in the middle of a tiny and cramped dining room. The dining room is so small and packed here that I'm surprised that the fire marshal even allows that many people to be sat in there. Still, when I ask for a booth and say that I don't want to eat in the middle of that tiny dining room when I make a reservation, I find it odd to be sat in the middle of the dining dining room only to see that there's multiple parties that were just sat in booths and haven't even gotten their drinks yet--like, they were just sat before us (and we were on time for our reservation). I think you could have a little more respect for your customers is all. For that reason alone, you're not worth the price of your half-baked pretense in my opinion. You get a one-star for that reason alone. On the quality front, the ribeyes I get are more and more consistently riddled with connective tissue and are hard to eat, with a lot of waste. Not exactly the quality of meat cut one expects for the price. Sometimes they nail it, but I'd say at least a third of the time my ribeyes are almost half scrap. The quality seems to be diminishing since I first started frequenting this place. So, perhaps your supplier sucks. Idk. Pick your meat better if you want to demand higher prices. I think I'll stop coming back at this point. 2020 Market has good steak, too. Only I haven't dealt with so much connective tissue in my steak there. And also, I haven't had issues with my reservations there. So you lose me to your competition after having gotten so much money out of me. Consistent quality and customer service could maintain such consistent regular customers in your sales. What a weird way to lose customers. Your whole business is customer service and cooking food well. Do better.

We've had…read morePho in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and of course there is nothing like the real thing in Vietnam. The place is relatively small, with about 12 tables. When we got there, we opted for a table along the wall. There was only one other table occupied, so I was happy that it was likely service would be good and fast (which it was). We were seated and provided menus to review and our server brought waters for us right away. The selections on the menu are wide and varied. Not only do they serve Pho and vermicelli dishes. but they also have a variety of fried rice, Chinese dishes (think orange chicken, sesame chicken, etc.). There is a small menu for kids as well. No beer or wine options, so we stuck with the water. We ordered some roast pork spring rolls, my wife ordered the Pho Tai Chin (rare eye round, steak and brisket) and I opted for the Pho Bo Vien (meatball). The spring rolls arrived quickly and were served with a cold peanut sauce. The sauce was not as thick as I've had at other restaurants, but it had decent flavor. The spring rolls were large and stuffed with noodles, lettuce, and roast pork pieces. The pork could have been sliced thinner, and it made for some extra chewing. I suspect they just use the roast pork from the grilled pork vermicelli. Our Pho arrived in large bowls along with a generous condiment plate of cilantro, sliced jalapeños, Thai basil, limes and beansprouts. There was chili crunch, soy sauce, Hoisin sauce, and Siracha available on the table as well. I tasted the broth before doctoring it and was a bit disappointed in the lack of real Pho broth flavor. I do make my own using a recipe I got while in Vietnam, and this was nowhere close to what I've made or have been served elsewhere in the past. It was weak, none of the cinnamon or star anise flavors, and I had to load it up with salt, white pepper, a generous amount of chili crunch, and even a bit of Siracha sauce. While it still didn't bring any of the true Pho broth flavor, it did make it more tasty. The bowl had chunks of meatballs, plenty of rice noodles, onion, and once I loaded up on the cilantro, basil, jalapeños, beansprouts and lime, I was ready to dig in. My wife agreed that the broth left a lot to be desired, and she didn't finish hers. She used the Hoisin to dip the meat into as it had little flavor otherwise. I ate most all of my bowl contents, but left most all of the broth (which I usually finish if it is good). Overall the experience was good. The service was great, the prices are comparable to most Pho places these days (I remember when I could get a bowl for $9.00 not too long ago instead of the $16 these days). Will we be back? Probably, but not for the Pho or any of the Chinese and Thai options on the back of the menu. I'd like to give their vermicelli a try. One recommendation: have an option for a smaller Pho serving size. I mentioned it to the server and he indicated that young people like the large servings... OK but what about us older folks that don't eat near the amount we used to. Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 10/10 Food: 7/10 Value: 8/10

This made it difficult to eat. My friend had a salad with chicken atop and said it was very good, but she didn't care for the fresh mozzarella. Service was very accommodating, food good, atmosphere very pleasant. I will certainly return.

The service was excellent!!! The chicken strips, beans, and salad bar were delicious!!! The catfish left so much to be desired it was bland no flavor unfortunately not even ranch and ketchup could help. Let's not get started on the shrimp, wow bite size pieces with more bland breading than shrimp, thank goodness for ranch. The kids meal shrimp was a joke when you read on the menu that it's 2 pieces of jumbo shrimp for $6.99 you think your getting a jumbo shrimp not a normal piece of shrimp you get from every other restaurant, I guess compared to the all you can eat shrimp bites they could be considered jumbo. It's not on the menu but the manager said you can get all you can eat chicken strips and catfish for $15.99. For a dinner of 3 adults and 2 kids I would not come back over $85.00 on food that wasn't even worth it, would of rather ate dinner at Golden chick :( read more

I haven't been to a catfish par in some years, but I have grown up eating my favorite bottom feeder fish which is the fried catfish. Sad to say that the fish tasted like it was just pulled out of dirt... they replaced the piece with another and unfortunately it had the same taste. I hate to say this but it's hard to mess up fried catfish . The server was very friendly and tried to make me as happy as she could after telling me that I am not the only one who has complained . The popcorn shrimp was the other meal on our table and glad to say he loved it. They do have some of the best sweet tea around. Great atmosphere just wish the catfish was better I am leaving very disappointed. read more

It was nice and crispy-I just wasn't in the mood for it) it was easy to remove, and the steak itself was cooked properly, there was cream gravy to go over it, and I ate it with my canned Mushrooms on the side. My Baked Potato was on the small side, but it was delicious and all the logical condiments like shredded cheese, sour cream, & butter were all included (in little cups) so I could use what and how much of those I wanted. It also came with a slice of Texas Toast and a Side Salad, which was freshly chopped lettuce with bacon, and croutons, and had the blue cheese dressing I had ordered on the side. Even without the breading on the meat, I was full before I ever made it to the Texas toast. I focused on the chicken fried steak, the gravy and the baked potato. It was all very good. Not sure why, but I didn't care for the mushrooms too much , I knew they would be canned, but they had a little bit of a tinny flavor so I ate a couple of those, but then left the rest. The blue cheese dressing was great, not sure if it was homemade, but there were small chunks of blue cheese evident, which I appreciated. Because I had filled up on my steak and potato I only ate about a third of the salad. The only thing I missed was the woman who was our server last time I went with my grandsons -as she was very pleasant and nice to talk to! I'm very grateful they were open on the Fourth of July weekend and even more grateful that Toast was able to deliver it to me out at my son's house-which I consider to be in the boonies -but then a lot of Taylor /Coupland area is! Looks like this is going to be my go to place if I need some good home cooking out that way!! If you haven't been it's worth the drive!!!

The shrimp was great plum and juicy. I felt like the batter was a little too thick and the batter didn't have any flavor in it. The flounder was good, but the fish was dry. I wish for the price point. The fish was a little thick thicker in meat. It was slightly sweet white meat so that was good. The chicken wings honestly are really good. I was surprised how crispy and juicy the wings were. I love the Cajun flavor along with the lemon pepper. You can really taste both seasonings. They have the chicken wing fried game down very surprised how good the wings were, crispy skin and juicy white meat. The oysters were great, big sized oysters, no sand or shell chips. Nice sweet flavors from the oyster meat. Clean tasting, a little briny, good seafood taste. Alll the side dipping sauces were good, cocktail, ranch, etc. beers were good too. Reasonably priced.

The seasoning landed squarely in the middle -- not offensive, not impressive, just sitting there like it was waiting for someone to give it direction. I asked for hot, but what I got tasted more like a medium that didn't want to commit. And the shrimp? Head‑on and not deveined. That gave them a gamy, muddy undertone that took away from the whole boil. At this price point, deveining shouldn't be a luxury add‑on. We also tried the appetizer sampler -- calamari, egg rolls, cheese sticks -- and everything tasted suspiciously similar, like it all took the same little swim in the same fryer without a break. Nothing was terrible, but nothing had personality. These were the kind of appetizers you can find anywhere, and not the kind you remember later. My partner ordered the shrimp po'boy, and while the portion was generous, the breading overwhelmed the shrimp. He ended up peeling most of it off just to get to the actual protein. When the breading becomes the main character, that's a sign the dish needs editing. Now, the mixed drinks? Those were actually good -- balanced, not overly sweet, and honestly the highlight of the meal. And I have to give credit where it's due: our waitress was attentive, friendly, and checked on us consistently without hovering. She did everything right. The food just didn't match her level of service. And look... I'm not trying to be dramatic, but I've had better crab at HEB during crawfish season for a fraction of the price. When your grocery‑store boil is hitting harder than the restaurant version, that's saying something. Overall, Surfing Crab wasn't a disaster, but it wasn't memorable either. For the price and the concept, I expected more depth, more spice, and more care in the prep. This one's a pass for me -- especially when I know I can get fresher, better‑seasoned seafood elsewhere without the premium price tag.

You know that one movie? The one with that one actor who wears Texas on his sleeve? I think he has…read morea catchphrase with something along the lines of "For sure, for sure, for sure." I'm pretty sure that's what he says. Anyways, he eats at this burger drive-thru place called Top Notch. Thanks to this movie representing Austin so well, the movie and the restaurant became a cultural touchstone of the Texas capital. Fifty years later, Top Notch opened their second location in the middle of Hutto, Texas. I've been to the Hutto Top Notch location three times now. Once to try, once because of its convenience during an event, and once for lunch with co-workers. Each time, I've left with the same impression: it's alright, alright, alright. That's what the quote was. I remember now. I've only had their burgers. Twice, their cheeseburger, and yesterday, the Top Pick Burger. All things considered, it's a decent burger. There is nothing obscene or wrong with the burger. It's just a burger. The Top Pick Burger seems like it could be fun and special, but it's really just a worse burger compared to their cheeseburger. It's not bad, but I didn't find it a better replacement for a cheeseburger. Their menu has a lot more options than just their charcoal-broiled hamburgers. They have fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, seafood combos, and their Top Dog sandwich. Two hot dogs in a sandwich. Something I'd whip together if I was seeing stars off Benadryl. Their fries are pretty good, though pretty simple: skinny, crispy, and salty. Good fries. Their shakes are thick without it being a fight for my life to drink. I don't know if my lack of intense enjoyment was thanks to recently having Johnny Rockets and being more impressed with their attempts at crafting a retro '60s burger joint, but Top Notch is more or less Middle-of-the-Pack Notch.
