Where has this place been all my life! This place is AMAZING. By my calculations via Google, this place is 183 miles from the ocean, yet the food tasted fresh and delicious! Kristin and Eric were awesome. I have NEVER in my travels, with much of it being in Louisiana, had crawfish etouffee portions this large. I also had grilled scallops...WOW! I see a negative review from July 11 about this restaurant. The only thing I can think is he mistakenly went there after it was closed! :-) ! I definitely recommend and will be back! The food here is very basic seafood. If you cook seafood or are a foodie, I would not go. The service is slow and a LOT on their menu is fried without even saying so. I am not sure how this place has stayed in business as their pricing is insane even though the portions ARE very large. read more

Where to start? Asked for water and a diet Coke. Received a diet Coke and lemonade. Not huge issue. Easily corrected, eventually. But it was a sign of things to come. Got menus and waited about ten minutes for someone to take our order. Finally asked a table bus to get our waitress. She comes to take our order. Does not know what a chive is, or a scallop. Wife was having a rare steak with grilled veggies. She asked to substitute the baked potato for extra grilled veggies. Almost positive we got billed for them as a side, but we will never know. I never got to see the bill. More on that later. The meals arrive. My wife's rare steak is cooked to a shoe leather state. As in burnt like an asteroid. The veggies are fine. Waitress never asked if everything was ok when she brought the food. My shrimp and scallops w loaded baked potato wo chives is delivered as shrimp and oysters w a loaded potato w chives. I said nothing about the chives. After eating my shrimp and most of my potato, once again the busboy to the rescue. He gets the waitress who comes over and offered to just take the scallops off the bill. I asked for my scallops. She is gone a long time. She returned and asked if I wanted fried or grilled scallops. Fired I replied and she disappeared. We hear a commotion in the kitchen and someone tells the waitress to come get the oysters. She comes over with a plate and uses her bare hands to take food off my plate. Wtf? She takes them and leaves. Then she and other wait staff are sitting in an unoccupied area looking at their tickets, and watching soccer on tv. About 15 minutes later my freshly fried scallops arrive. My wife has been done for 20 minutes. I finish the scallops and waitstaff is no where to be seen. My wife goes to the car. Busboy to the rescue again. He finds and sends the waitress, who is watching tv now, to the table. She asks if I am ready to pay . I am. She has to go make the bill. As she approaches again I am getting my card out and she she says "paying by card?" And takes the card from my hand wo leaving the bill and disappears. I never got to see it. A few minutes later she drops the card and card receipts on the table. No waiting, no questions, no thank you, no explanations just leaves the area. Christy did not get a tip. All our previous visits had been great. This one sucked. Addendum The following day I noticed the young waitress had decided she was entitled to give herself a tip from my bank account. I brought this to the manager's attention. She refunded the amount the young lady took on her own. I feel her future is short. The manager was very professional about it. I can appreciate the position this put her in and how she handled it. I would give her 5 stars if I could. read more

Food was not good at all, sent the food back only to have the manager say we still had to pay for it because she can not resale the food, customer service was trash just like the food!! Service was great! The menu is about 3 pages front and back! So many delicious choices! We ordered the #12 off the lunch menu. It was on the back of the menu. The catfish fish was a very large, beautiful filet with 6 gorgeous, large fried shrimp. Perfectly cooked! The breading was great! The fish and shrimp came with choice of salad or homemade coleslaw. And choice of a loaded baked potato or fries. My husband's salad arrived with ranch dressing, per his request, and it was homemade ranch! Very tasty. My coleslaw was homemade, perfectly, finely shredded, perfectly flavored, not too "wet" not too dry...just right!! Baked potato was freshly made and on point!! Our meal with one tea and a water was $32. We will DEFINITELY be back! Worth the drive from Florence!!! read more

Being that it's in Taylor it's never too busy atleast until Samsung is built near by Pros- lots of food options Friendly staff Great customer service Tons of options to choose from Very clean Cons- I believe it's family owned (I could be wrong) but they are not always open as family emergencies do happen. I enjoy coming here for the small town down home look that I love. The food however was just eh at best. The steak was really tiny and tuff to eat. Definitely overcooked and full of hard gristle which shouldn't be on a ribeye. Also no flavor. The chicken tenders were very good looking and tender but also tasteless. My wife had the catfish and fried shrimp which was also cooked good but had zero flavor. For the price it would be a good place to go if anyone actually enjoyed the food. I also had a cracked plastic cup that kept leaking on the table but that wasn't on purpose. However it could have been changed out with a new cup while eating instead of just getting paper towels to put down. We had been here once a couple years ago and had a better experience so maybe it was just this one time. I'd still recommend giving it a try and I'll probably come back again when in town to see if it was a one off. I probably just won't get the steak. read more

The name changed several years ago to Texas Bay Seafood and Steak, but the food quality is still excellent. The 7 piece large fried shrimp is the best I've had with a light almost tempura-style batter. The salads are always fresh and crisp and a perfectly cooked baked potato usually rounds out my meal. My husband likes the grilled salmon which is served with a salad, baked potato and grilled vegetables. He is also a fan of their hamburger steak with grilled onions when he's not in the mood for seafood. We stopped in this evening and although the ambiance is rather plain, the food was much better than we expected. We both had the grilled shrimp and scallops platter. It was served hot. The 6 shrimp were fresh and good sized. The 6 Scallops were huge. They were better than what we have had at much more expensive restaurants. We had our 1 year old granddaughter with us and she not only enjoyed the food, but the waitress was accommodating in bringing some extra veggies for her. Overall service was prompt and very good as well. The menu was pretty extensive.......should be something on there for everyone. We would certainly recommend for a casual dinner. read more

2nd time I've eaten here. First was take out, no problems. Today, the place did not seem even half full, but time for service was very long. The calamari appetizer was delicious and the fresh salad was very fresh with a good mixture of lettuce, spinach, tomato and carrots The mixed vegetables with the meal were outstanding. I ate all of it before even trying my fish. The fish was well flavored but not exceptional. The dirty rice was very disappointing. It was too firm, and very bland. I'd recommend they find a recipe similar to Golden Chick. My wife and I could not eat the coleslaw at all. It is a shame because you can research recipes online for acceptable coleslaw & dirty rice. read more

This restaurant definitely surprised me! Food and service were both great! The proportions are HUGE and their lunch prices are VERY reasonable! I enjoyed the grilled seafood platter while my husband enjoyed the fried seafood platter. Both of us had leftovers and were completely stuffed! First off, i called every number they had listed several times trying to place a to go order and nobody would answer. They had a voicemail service set up that has full mailboxes. I decided to drive up there anyway. My wife loves their food and it's her birthday. I opened the menu online and placed an order. They told me 20 minutes so I walked next door to the dollar store to grab a few things. While there they called and said they don't have the 3 components that make up the meal I ordered. I walked back over there and called my wife to see what else she wanted. The lady then corrected herself and said they have the 3 components of my meal, but not sold as a meal. I'd have to pay for them separately. I showed them a live look at their website and it was $22.99 for that 3 food combo meal. She charged me $40.00. I told them that was messed up they didn't honor what's on their menu online and all she said was sorry. Didn't care. Bad customer service. They list a frequent customer. read more

They serve the best fried shrimp I've had in a long time. I had a friend who was from the Gulf Coast and even she praised their shrimp. The grilled shrimp are also delicious. My husband likes their grilled salmon and occasionally when he's not in the mood for seafood he has enjoyed their hamburger steak with grilled onions and brown gravy. The grilled chicken breast is marinated and delicious. I sometimes get it served as part of the salad. It is such a generous size I usually bring half of the chicken home. Servings are very generous no matter what you order. read more

We love the food here but the service is SO AWFUL. It's really a shame. Most recently we took a party of five and a baby, waited 45 minutes for food with no pre-bussing and drink refills. Long ticket times happen, we know, but we were still missing side dishes and our server was nowhere to be found. We then had to wait another ten minutes for the check, which is an eternity when you have a toddler who has behaved for over an hour. Gratuity was added, which I understand but when we told who appeared to be the manager that the experience was not good, we were met with blank stares and literally no words. Again, it's a really a shame as we enjoy the food but the experience is always so frustrating. Not looking for free food but do better!!! read more

Well, we finally made it to the restaurant in order to taste what our family told us was the best seafood in Texas. I ordered a dinner salad, frog legs, and fried shrimp. The salad was an average lettuce and sliced tomato, the frog legs were probably the largest legs I have ever eaten, they were delicious. The dozen fried shrimp were large and delicious also. This unassuming spot has some of the best fish I have tasted. You may not think so from the outside but just taste the food and you will understand! My 15yo daughter was on her third shift as a waitress, and they said she lost a ticket for $52 that they could not produce evidence of, and keep all her tips to pay them back for the mystery lost ticket. Tasty food, generous portions, decent prices. Michelle is the greatest waitress ever! My wife and I stopped by yesterday afternoon. I'm a pretty good-sized guy and a big eater so I got a crawfish tail po-boy & 6 Fried shrimp. My wife got scallops. I ate all my Po Boy but I could only eat three of the shrimp before I had to quit, and she brought half of her scallops the size of a dollar coin home as well. The sweet tea was excellent. Despite being pretty busy and perhaps a little short-staffed, Michelle never made me feel as though I was interrupting her or being a pain despite my requests. She was attentive without being annoying and cheerful without being saccharine. This place is easy to get to, just off the main road in a generous parking spot lot with plenty of space. Very nice restaurant. Mid range casual seafood place. Large menu, friendly service and very spacious inside. I got the steak which was very good. Grilled shrimp came with it and they were cooked perfectly. Comes with mixed veggies which were surprisingly good and perfectly seasoned. My dad got a tuna steak which they also ask how you would like it cooked. Very fresh and good, I suggest ordering it medium so it is a little pink on the inside. Salad is a basic garden salad but you can telll was made fresh to order. My side was the Cajun dirty rice which was very flavorful. We also got a loaded baked potato which was good. Our appetizer was the shrimp egg rolls which were crispy and delicious. Oddly enough they also have pad Thai which I'm excited to try next time. They have lunch specials. Huge parking lot. read more
