Service was great! The menu is about 3 pages front and back! So many delicious choices! We ordered the #12 off the lunch menu. It was on the back of the menu. The catfish fish was a very large, beautiful filet with 6 gorgeous, large fried shrimp. Perfectly cooked! The breading was great! The fish and shrimp came with choice of salad or homemade coleslaw. And choice of a loaded baked potato or fries. My husband's salad arrived with ranch dressing, per his request, and it was homemade ranch! Very tasty. My coleslaw was homemade, perfectly, finely shredded, perfectly flavored, not too "wet" not too dry...just right!! Baked potato was freshly made and on point!! Our meal with one tea and a water was $32. We will DEFINITELY be back! Worth the drive from Florence!!!

This is a nice small establishment with LOTS of options to choose from. Being that it's in Taylor it's never too busy atleast until Samsung is built near by Pros- lots of food options Friendly staff Great customer service Tons of options to choose from Very clean Cons- I believe it's family owned (I could be wrong) but they are not always open as family emergencies do happen. That's it is my only Con which doesn't say much about this awesome establishment

Ribeye and shrimp with baked potato

I enjoy coming here for the small town down home look that I love. The food however was just eh at best. The steak was really tiny and tuff to eat. Definitely overcooked and full of hard gristle which shouldn't be on a ribeye. Also no flavor. The chicken tenders were very good looking and tender but also tasteless. My wife had the catfish and fried shrimp which was also cooked good but had zero flavor. For the price it would be a good place to go if anyone actually enjoyed the food. I also had a cracked plastic cup that kept leaking on the table but that wasn't on purpose. However it could have been changed out with a new cup while eating instead of just getting paper towels to put down. We had been here once a couple years ago and had a better experience so maybe it was just this one time. I'd still recommend giving it a try and I'll probably come back again when in town to see if it was a one off. I probably just won't get the steak.

2 fish and 12 shrimp and baked potato .. so yummy

The service was spectacular. The food was amazing and the shrimp were so big. The bill was what we expected it to be for the amount and quality of the food. We will definitely come back and we HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place

First off, i called every number they had listed several times trying to place a to go order and nobody would answer. They had a voicemail service set up that has full mailboxes. I decided to drive up there anyway. My wife loves their food and it's her birthday. I opened the menu online and placed an order. They told me 20 minutes so I walked next door to the dollar store to grab a few things. While there they called and said they don't have the 3 components that make up the meal I ordered. I walked back over there and called my wife to see what else she wanted. The lady then corrected herself and said they have the 3 components of my meal, but not sold as a meal. I'd have to pay for them separately. I showed them a live look at their website and it was $22.99 for that 3 food combo meal. She charged me $40.00. I told them that was messed up they didn't honor what's on their menu online and all she said was sorry. Didn't care. Bad customer service. They list a frequent customer.

The food is good and the service was great but I think the food is pricey. The ambience was similar to a diner.

It's a cute nostalgic space with old-timey instruments displayed in the corners and has a really unique feel. The wait staff is friendly and funny and very knowledgeable about the menu. The fried green tomatoes are great here but for me, almost everything else was a disappointment. Not as kid-friendly as you'd expect. It pains me to leave such a low rating (and I rarely do) but this was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I've had in a while. And it didn't have to be that way so hopefully my review can grab someone's attention. This place has so much potential because it's in such a cool location -- the band hall of an old high school (fun decor and cool nostalgic vibes). I had really high hopes for this restaurant but it let me down. Here's what went wrong. THE FOOD: First and foremost, the food was disappointing... except for their vegetable appetizers. The fried green tomatoes were fantastic. Nailed it in terms of texture and flavor. My husband and I were both surprised by how good they were. Their Brussels sprouts appetizer was really good as well. After that, it was all downhill. I had the Mom's Meatloaf with two sides: Cowboy Caviar and green beans. The meatloaf wasn't bad but it wasn't exactly a loaf -- it was like meatballs connected together? I didn't taste the bacon in the tomato sauce and the portion felt tiny -- same size as the sides. The sides were a real letdown. The green beans tasted like they came straight from a Jolly Green Giant can. The Cowboy Caviar (which I usually love) was so bland. It was like they just poured beans and corn and pepper and onion in and that's it. I didn't taste any seasoning. Cowboy Caviar needs to have that zing (many simple recipes use Italian salad dressing). Moving onto my husband's dish which was probably the worst part. His tomato soup tasted like marinara sauce but we were hoping the filet mignon would deliver. It was simply not good. It wasn't as tender as filet mignon needs to be -- it was chewy. It did seem to be cooked as requested (medium rare) but it didn't taste good and seemed flavorless -- almost as if the meat was poor quality. Now, I know that filet mignon is a much more mild tasting cut and less flavorful than a ribeye for instance, but still, something felt very off with this steak. Neither of us enjoyed it and that's a bummer (especially at that price point). KIDS: Usually restaurants like this one are more kid-friendly so I was a bit surprised. Our kids are 3.5YO and 2YO. They brought a booster for my youngest. It had no straps at all (which I'm not even complaining about because those straps are broken at literally every restaurant). We were in a booth so it worked okay mostly. What I'm unhappy about is the lack of coloring options and kids menus. We were not brought any crayons and coloring paper upon seating so we inquired. The waitress said she'd look and ended up coming back with crayons and some paper placemats to doodle on? I respect the ingenuity but I was confused. They have crayons on hand but they don't offer them to the kids? What's the deal with that? They didn't have a kids menu printed anywhere and the waitress just told us the offerings out loud. So is there an official kids menu or not? I'd like to be able to see the prices as well. Also a bit perplexing. We went ahead and ordered one grilled cheese for the kids to share and I'm glad because it was big but also not very good. The bread was too dense so it was more of a bread sandwich. My kids weren't that into it. Almost forgot -- the fries that came with the grilled cheese were actually very good (got to give credit where it's due). TIME: Our food took forever. It wasn't a fun wait -- the kids were getting super restless. The waitress stopped by a couple times to tell us that "our food is just around the corner." Even though it ended up being untrue -- I appreciate her checking in.

My daughter-in-law had gotten a new refrigerator right before they left for vacation so there was barely anything in it. They have a wonderful pantry and I ate a Ramen out of the pantry Saturday night for supper but just couldn't find anything. I was hungry for in there on Sunday. Anyway, I was hunting some food to have delivered on Sunday. I had never even ordered takeout from any place in Taylor or Hutto and it took me a while to find something that could accommodate all my needs -but Randy's Icehouse to the rescue!! The first time I ate there I had my grandsons with me and we all had burgers along with some fries and onion rings we shared and everything was delicious and cooked to order. Yesterday, I chose a Chicken Fried Steak dinner with a baked potato , a side of mushrooms and a side salad. I enjoyed the CFS once I removed most of the breading (don't get me wrong. It was nice and crispy-I just wasn't in the mood for it) it was easy to remove, and the steak itself was cooked properly, there was cream gravy to go over it, and I ate it with my canned Mushrooms on the side. My Baked Potato was on the small side, but it was delicious and all the logical condiments like shredded cheese, sour cream, & butter were all included (in little cups) so I could use what and how much of those I wanted. It also came with a slice of Texas Toast and a Side Salad, which was freshly chopped lettuce with bacon, and croutons, and had the blue cheese dressing I had ordered on the side. Even without the breading on the meat, I was full before I ever made it to the Texas toast. I focused on the chicken fried steak, the gravy and the baked potato. It was all very good. Not sure why, but I didn't care for the mushrooms too much , I knew they would be canned, but they had a little bit of a tinny flavor so I ate a couple of those, but then left the rest. The blue cheese dressing was great, not sure if it was homemade, but there were small chunks of blue cheese evident, which I appreciated. Because I had filled up on my steak and potato I only ate about a third of the salad. The only thing I missed was the woman who was our server last time I went with my grandsons -as she was very pleasant and nice to talk to! I'm very grateful they were open on the Fourth of July weekend and even more grateful that Toast was able to deliver it to me out at my son's house-which I consider to be in the boonies -but then a lot of Taylor /Coupland area is! Looks like this is going to be my go to place if I need some good home cooking out that way!! If you haven't been it's worth the drive!!!

I want to express my frustration and deep disappointment in our experience last night. We (wife, 11 yo daughter, and daughter's friend) arrived for our 7:45 reservation with pretty high expectations after a fun day in the waterpark. We got off to a fine start with our server, but I must say it went downhill after that. We ordered our drinks (1 tea, 2 lemonades and a wine). The NA drinks came quickly but my wife had to ask about the wine. We ordered a California roll and some crab cakes as apps - took longer than expected, but not anything I would have complained about in real time. We ordered a medium rare ribeye, an extra rare filet (so rare another employee came out and double checked that we wanted it blue) with bourbon mushrooms, cheeseburger, and the 3 side special. Side note: The server seemed somewhat disinterested, so much that the 2 11-year-old girls thought he didn't like my wife. When the food arrived, I was somewhat underwhelmed by the thin-cut of the ribeye-but it wasn't something that I would have complained about. It looked to be cooked properly. The filet looked good but when my wife cut into it, it was not even close to extra rare (oh and we only had 1 steak knife to cut 2 steaks so I had to ask for another steak and we were short a fork). We were willing to let that slide. Here's where it went downhill badly. My daughter's friend was about to take a bite when she noticed something. She picked out a hair. Not just a random hair but a small clump. It reminded me of a clump you might see when you pull out a pony tail rubbe rband and it was hair that was tangled up in the rubber band that you had to break off. As you might guess, that was the straw that broke the camel's back. I went to the hostess stand and asked for a manager. 5 minutes later he showed up. He was pretty meek and reserved, heard us out, and went back to discuss with the chef (At that point, understandably, we had all lost our appetite. I was almost done with my burger but didn't finish that or any of my fries). Seemed like it took quite a long time to come back to discuss what the chef said. What stood out the most is the comment that no one in the kitchen had that color hair, as if they deep down thought it came from our table. Well, that didn't sit well with my wife. So, they remade the steak orders, which took longer than I would have expected, given the situation. During that time my wife ordered wine, which she again had to check the status on. The remake came and somehow the ribeye was even thinner. It reminded me of the size of ribeye you get in a value pack from the grocery store. If it was ¾" thick, I would have been surprised. Seemed to be cooked as requested. The filet was ruined. For some reason the side of bourbon mushrooms was not on the side this time. They dumped the mushrooms and gravy on the steak! Totally changed the whole profile of the steak and basically ruined it. I commented that to the server and he replied 'yeah I saw that but didn't say anything'. My wife asked him why he didn't say anything and he had nothing to say. She asked him if he had something to say and he remained quiet. He finally offered a weak apology. I did kind of feel bad for him as he wasn't the one that prepared the food, but overall his service and customer service was pretty weak.
