We purchased two 4th class roundtrip tickets to SEA via Hongkong and received 5th class service. Nevermind the tickets costs in excess of $1200 each. The worst was the 1-2 punch of 1: every single seat was filled on all flights while 2: seats spacing could be measured in mm's. The food was surely unrankable as any non packaged part (aka the "meal") was wholly disposed upon serving. Why do they bother and add to their costs? No AC outlets, the USB power didn't work, and any internet access costs $10 for one hour on a 14-hour flight. The reading lights were aimed at random places. One poor passenger next to me (in the 4-seat middle section) had two lights all the way from the 3-seat window section directly aimed at her face, which required waking up six people to reach the lights to adjust, post two hours of suffering . My own light as aiming to 1.5 seats over from me. Even after getting all the in-between people up, the seats are so close it was not possible to stand up straight to reach the lights. pray for long arms to reach then sitting down! I give them is one star for actually completing the trip on the junk that passes for airplanes made by Boeing and the attendants were polite and efficient. We made the same trip about five years ago on the same airline, which provided actually good service for the same class seats. I suppose this is what happens when communism takes over anything. The service and attitude of the staff is the absolute worst. They speak in a condescending tone and act like they hate their jobs. I know they are being paid poorly but that is not the customer's fault. They wouldn't even get me water and said wait until meal time. Do not fly this airline... overpriced with budget service. In my 20 years+ experience flying with Cathay Pacific Airways has been both bitter and sweet, bitter for the most part... they used to be good, really good! And unfortunately, in the recent years, due to their poor investment decision in the fuels industry, they have been losing big money since, cutting costs and staffs, making the seats smaller and cramping more PAX into the plane were inevitable. Thus CX's reputation has been free falling from a luxury brand to an incompetent overpriced budgeted airliner. When your comfort goes down, their share price goes up. Economy Class: Cathay Pacific has the worse seat configuration among all the long haul flights in the whole wide world, their seats are really narrow and small, Urban legend says only Asians can fit in there, but in reality, only small children and midgets could fit into the seat comfortably. The back slide design is the root of all evils, very un-ergonomic, especially after a 12+ hours long haul flight, it's certain that one should seek a chiropractor for adjustment right after the flight, so your lower body doesn't become permanently damaged and paralyze due to bad sitting postures. From LA TO HK, cost of a round trip ticket is around USD $700 to $1200. Premium Economy Class: Many people find Premium Economy class very excited when it first rolled out a few years ago, yet, their size and width of the seats were just considered the standard and exactly how a regular Economy seat should be sized in the other part of the world. The Business class seats are arranged in fish bone configuration fashion, definitely have a lot more personal space and private area compare to the economy class. I flew Cathay Pacific business class from LA to HK to TPE. The Good: The seat was comfortable with plenty of space where you can lay down flat. Service was great with very attentive flight stewardesses. A good selection of beverages with vintage champagne and wines, and nice liquor. The Not So Good: The food in business class was just ok for me. Nothing was that delicious or memorable. Unlike other airlines, the way the entree was served was on a cart and you get to choose what you want. This just doesn't feel as nice and some entrees were cold for having been on the cart for some time. A five and a half minute commercial reel in the beginning of every movie and TV show you watch. For a 14-hour flight, I watched 5 movies and had to go through the same commercial reel in the beginning of every single movie. Had to fast-forward every time to get to the movie. That's a bit excessive in my opinion. Overall, I'm giving CP business class 3 stars. It's not bad but just ok. read more

I didn't have a good experience with Cathay Pacific, on my flight from Hong Kong to JFK (CX830) Sept 29th, a flight attendant (Keith) made me feel really uncomfortable. The flight is a 16 hour flight, where meals are provided and passengers can get snacks in between meals. When I asked Keith for a snack he refused to give me anything stating meal time will be on 30 minutes, however everyone around me was provided with a snack upon their request. When I called again to see if there was a misunderstanding, he continued to pass my seat and ignored all my calls. This made me feel very uncomfortable. I dont wish this on anyone. read more

I'm kind of mixed on this review. I admit to having higher expectations from Cathay Pacific, an airline I used years ago and loved. My most recent experience was a flight from LAX to Thailand through Hong Kong and back in premium economy. I chose to spend about $1000 over what regular economy cost (which was higher priced than other airlines). I definitely appreciated the larger seats, deeper incline and more leg room. The designated bathroom was a plus too. But beyond that, I felt the overall service lacked. Last year I flew with Eva in economy. The staff was nicer and proactive, the food was more plentiful and better, the bathroom amenities were better (complimetary face spray, wash moisturizer, hand lotion, toothbrushes/paste and mouth wash) and all flight legs had wifi available. My Cathay Pacific flights had no wifi, the attendants were nice but weren't actively available without ringing that call button, and the food served was fairly mediocre. So, for me, the cost of premium economy on Cathay Pacific was money well spent on the merits of comfort only. But the next time I fly to Asia, I'll spend a little more purchasing business class tickets on Eva and get a lot more. read more

THEY DO NOT CARE! Cathay cancelled my mom's flight and I have been calling them everyday for more than a week now and has been promised something a lot of times. NOTHING!!! I have been very patient with each call. I've ask for a supervisor on the 3rd call and they promised they'll call me back in 2 hours, Nothing!!! Final call..I was promised to get a confirmation email of approval in 24 hours, 3 days later, no emails, nothing! NEGATIVE 100 STARS, if it were only possible... Cathay Pacific used to be one of my favorite airlines because their service all throughout was always great. GONE ARE THOSE DAYS. I handle all of my parents' travel plans. Sometime ago, they were booked to go to the Philippines for a few months' retreat. I get an email around 8pm the night before their flight stating their flight from LAX to HKG the next day was cancelled. Followed by "Sorry for the inconvenience." No other explanations, no recourse. I went online to secure a phone number and the only thing I got is that customer service isn't available until 6am the next day. What worried me is that this cancellation would only mean they would miss their connecting flight to MNL. Their suggested rescheduled flight would also mean they will be stuck at the HKG airport for 12 hours because no connecting flights to MNL are scheduled until then. BUT! I also learned there was a flight to HKG 4 hours after I got that initial email and that a connecting flight to MNL was scheduled only 2 hours after landing HKG. It's a good thing my parents were packed and that we live less than 30 minutes from the airport. So, we took the chance and loaded the car with all their luggage and rushed to the airport. Airport staff put them on standby. As one can imagine, we were anxious the WHOLE time. In the meanwhile, this lady (who clearly works with the airline since she knew all the counter people) was getting her mother a free/buddy pass to the same flights I was trying to get my parents on. No problem, she was upgraded to business class. (Huh, must be nice.) And here are my parents - PAYING CUSTOMERS, MIND YOU - who were basically getting screwed by their decision to cancel their flight (with NO explanations) anxiously waiting the fate of their travel plans. Anyway: I overheard them saying there were plenty of seats available on business class. So, I went up to the same counter person and asked - would it be easier for my parents to get on this flight if I upgraded them to business class? I was more than willing to spend the $. She responds by saying they are not allowed to be upgraded because we bought the tickets online. (WHAT?! So?!?!) She just basically refused to go through the trouble. My parents got on that flight anyway. Separate seats, no biggie. They were also booked on the connecting flight from HKG to MNL. Of course the story doesn't end there! What fun would that be?! SO! Like that wasn't enough garbage to deal with, right?! FAST FORWARD A FEW MONTHS LATER!!!! Parents were on their way back. They made their flight from MNL to HKG with no problems. Their connecting flight to LAX was not for another four hours. Then all of a sudden, that flight was cancelled. Their flight was just all of a sudden gone from the screen. No notification or announcement was made, so my mother wasn't aware of it until I contacted her via messenger. I informed her I got an email saying they were rescheduled for the next available flight in about 2 hours. I also advised her to keep an eye out for any more possible changes. 2 hours after I got that initial notification, I got another email stating the rescheduled flight was cancelled again and that they were rescheduled for the flight about 2 hours after that. I advised my Mom to speak to someone at the airline counter (or their office) and inquire. Long story short, the response she got from the manager is, "Cathay always cancels these flights..." walked away without further information. His assistant was so embarrassed by his attitude that she tried to compensate with food vouchers, seeing my parents were gonna be stuck there for awhile. So, two senior citizens patiently waited for their twice rescheduled flight. An hour before scheduled boarding for the flight, I got another email saying the 2nd rescheduled flight has been cancelled AGAIN. There was only one flight left for the day, and was told they were booked for THAT flight. They ended up hanging out at the HKG airport for a total of 12 hours. They had scheduled gigs in Los Angeles which they ended up missing due to these delays. I tried contacting their customer service to inform them of these horrendous experiences. A part of the online form states: "Would you like a response?" Why bother having this when it won't even allow me to click on "YES"?! For me to say this airline sucks is a flattering compliment. They are a bunch of wicked minions to deal with. I used them A LOT for me and many family members whenever we travelled to Asia. I recommended them to many friends and colleagues. NEVER EVER EVER EVER AGAIN. They make it clear their best interest is to look out for themselves (as proven by the employer who got her Mom - a non-paying customer - free business class tickets) vs. looking out for paying customers. These days, my motto for a good international flying experience: Just put me on anything better than United, please. So it was my first time flying Cathay but heard a lot of good things from family and friends. A flight from LA to HK would take 15 hours. Check-in at LAX was pretty smooth and uneventful. Boarding was relatively orderly and timely. The flight attendants throughout were friendly and accommodating, unlike the crews of a lot of US air carriers. Okay, okay, fine, I'll admit: the Cathay flight attendants were aesthetically pleasing as well. The food wasn't too bad but not excellent. I think Korean Air is a bit better, but Cathay's offerings were pretty good. However, I did find mold in my roll, which I reported to the flight attendant. She apologized and noted the mistake. Both breakfast and dinner had Western and Chinese offerings and generally the latter was better. I enjoyed the braised pork with pickled vegetables the most. Having Haggen-Daz ice cream for dessert can't be a bad thing, too. The galleys had snacks throughout the flight, such as dried fruit, chips, crackers, and chocolate. I loaded up on the Toblerone like a pig for sustenance. The seating areas and the lavatories were generally clean. Definitely much cleaner than United or Air Canada. Plus the lavatories worked too, unlike said airlines. I know, the little things... The entertainment system, overall, was sufficient. I did see a few movies and a few television shows on the flight over. It was nice having a mix of Asian and Western entertainment. Unfortunately, the crew didn't have nearly enough landing cards so I had to fill out mine on the ground. I mean, I know a lot of the passengers will be transiting elsewhere, but don't you think some of them would actually be staying at your most major hub??? read more

Booked my roundtrip business flight to Hong Kong on Cathay. It was a international red eye flight that left around 11:50 sunday night and landing around 6 am on Tuesday. Almost 15 hrs going and 13 hrs back is freaking long but Im used to it as its long as flight going home to Japan. I picked this flight as I got to fly in business class and was looking forward to taking advantage of the fully flat beds. Im not a good flyer and barely get any sleep and thought maybe if I got to really lay down I would finally get some Zzzz's. I was hoping it would be on the newly designed business class seats but I ended up on the older business class cabin. The seats are setup more diagnally so you have total privacy from the person next to you and in front of you. Its a pretty comfortable ride. The flight attendants were all very attentive and friendly. They fed you like there was no tomorrow and the food was really good. I mean good for airplane food. See some of the pic. They are part of OneWorld so I will get mileage points for AA so Im happy about that. I wouldnt think twice flying Cathay again. Of course I would like to fly business class everywhere I go but im good with going coach...shit I aint got much of a choice LOL! It was a smooth flying goodness!! read more

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I absolutely despise CX. In the past, CX was the only carrier to fly to certain cities, but not anymore. These days, there IS a thing called choice. I remember flying CX (not by choice) because a company invited me on a trip and they paid for a business class ticket, so I had to fly them. Not only was the service CRAP, but the waitresses (oh I mean air hostesses -- oops did I say that? I meant flight attendants) would only attend to cute males and ignore the rest of the people. One extremely rude waitress (oops, I did it again) even told me to hold on when I motioned for her and pointed a finger in my face when she did it. Pissed me the hell off. SHIT, I mean how much does she make to get off telling paid customers (ok, I didn't technically pay) like that? Imagine, this is in business class. In coach, they are even worse, openly flirting with caucasian men who are noticeably single (yes looking for a husband no doubt) and ignoring the rest of the cabin. So no thanks. I do not fly CX. When people ask which airline I use to go overseas and I tell them Cathay Pacific, they always have this dreamy "OOooOO" moment. They're probably visualizing their business class seats that recline ALL THE WAY. Regardless of the "OOooOO" factor, the are quite surprised to hear the details of what Cathay Pacific offers! If you're flying internationally from LAX to Asia, Cathy Pacific is the airline to fly with. The seats in coach are pretty spacious and surprisingly comfortable for that agonizingly long flight of yours. Before you are seated, there's already a small pillow and a blanket placed on your seat for you. They offer FREE snacks between meals throughout the ENTIRE flight! Not to mention FREE adult beverages for those who are of drinking age! If you question whether their airline food is good, you will be pleasantly surprised. It's so good that they actually supply food for other airlines! There have been upgrades to their media systems that are in front of each seat; we're talking movies, radio, games, etc. for each passenger!!! Some airlines charge you for movie watching, but not Cathay Pacific! Yes their flights might cost you a little more than other airlines, but if factor in the comfort of flying nonstop, the great service, and the free of charge perks, Cathay Pacific is an obvious choice! Service really went down. So unfortunate. I've been flying with Cathay every year, since 1999 for business. But it seems the past 3 years or so I noticed a significant drop in service. The quality of food is another story (the whole airline industry should reconsider how to improve the food they serve in general cause it's CRAP). Back to Cathay....the stewardesses are "fake" friendly with glazed smiles, focused too much on protocal not customer needs, and downright annoying. I'm a pretty compliant traveler and easy maintenance....but at times I feel like they're my mother. Don't use the bathroom, put your chair back up, put this away, can't use your iPhone...blah, blah, blah. The same message can be said in a different way instead of undermining the travelers or annoying the hell outta them. CHILL OUT! I understand safety is the top priority. But the flights I take are usually 12 hours long (it's very brutal) therefore service is really the dealbreaker here. There were also several instances where my needs were overlooked or my requests for certain things were simply forgotten. The moment they saw I was agitated, they'd jump right away to fix the "damage." I also noticed special attention is placed on Chinese speaking passengers (Cathay is based off of Hong Kong and most stewardesses are Chinese). Sad but true...something I observed. I used to take pride in Cathay and really valued the whole flight experience as something memorable. First experience just awful. They promoted 500,000 free tickets, but the fine print says there were actually only 2890 for the United States! This is the classic definition of a scam. I spent time in advance researching flights and details in the terms and conditions. But when the "free tickets" supposedly became available, it was endless frustration. They wanted over US$5200. Hong Kong Based airline. I had the good fortune of catching a Cathay Pacific flight back from China recently and having never flown on them before I wasn't sure what to expect. Looking around the tarmac in Hong Kong, all I could see were an unending arrangement of Cathay Pacific planes which made me feel better. Having time to kill, I googled the airline and came to realize they are huge but mostly serve the Asian market. The plane I had was gorgeous and clean- never flew on a 747 before so it was also a new thing for me on that type of jet. The staff were amazingly accommodating - from the people at the service desk to the stewards on the plane - everyone was super helpful and pleasant. The crew on the plane was extensive- it seemed that there were twice as many crew than what you normally get on the U.S. carriers- but I can't verify that. The food was top notch and apparently you can get all kinds of dietary accommodations depending on your needs. Since my needs are basic I just took what they brought. The quantity and quality of the food was very good- so much food in fact that I was stuffed by the time I landed in NY. Baggage showed up with me which is always a bonus in my opinion. I would have really loved to give Cathay Pacific 5-Stars. I recently flew them from LAX to Hong Kong to Manila and back. The flight out from LAX was great, both flights actually. The flight attendants were attentive and the person at the check-in counter was super helpful. They also provided food that was decent and snacks throughout the flight. The in-flight entertainment options are wonderful and you really don't need much more than some sleep and their individual TVs. They also kept the bathrooms nice and clean. However on my flight back from Hong Kong to LAX, the flight attendants were not attentive at all. In fact, one time I asked them to clear a tray that had been sitting there for an hour and the girl asked me if she could do it later. I had a baby that kept trying to throw everything off the tray so I just took the tray and put it down on the floor by the emergency exit since there was a lot of room there. That finally made her go and get it. I mean seriously, she had her little cart out I don't understand why she couldn't just take the trash. But it wasn't just this one attendant, it was all the attendants on the flight. One time I needed to get warm water for my baby bottle and it took them about 45 minutes to get to me, at which point I had already gone to the kitchen to help myself (since the alternative was a screaming baby which nobody loves!) In summary, this airline has nice amenities but the service is hit or miss, and this is why I did not give it a higher rating. Would I fly them again? Maybe, but I think I might check on my other options the next time. read more

How Cathay feels depends on what class and route you're on. If you're doing US-Asia, then I'd rather opt for Singapore or Korea if you're flying economy. Business Class is better on Korean and Singapore on long-haul flights to Asia. If you're on a flight within Asia that is under 4-5 hours, then Cathay economy is fine (Korean sucks). Cathay is considered a training ground for flight attendants to get on other airlines for greater salaries/benes, which is probably one of the reasons I find service is better on the other Asian airlines where the better ex-Cathay staff are recruited. On Business Class, I find Cathay strictly mediocre compared to other Asian air biz class. The food is fair, and the service is very mechanical or almost "forced". If you're like me and basically just sleep or watch movies, then Cathay is fine. Great movie/TV selections. One thing I do despise here on biz class is the seats on maximum recline on the older planes are terrible. You feel like you're constantly sliding down, and they lack proper lumbar support. The new planes are an improvement (circa 2007 and onwards). On First Class, while I absolutely detest the food menu (it's a bad sign if I prefer to order econo-class meals, and this has happend 4 times), they do offer to cook you something like fried rice directly from their stove contraption. Where Cathay separates from the other Asian airlines on first is their down comforter..... THE most comfortable I've ever had, and is the one thing I look forward to on long-haul flights- I sleep like a baby. The pijamas, made by Shanghai Tang, are cotton comfortable (unlike the over-the-top ones on Korean Air that make you feel like you're wearing a silk body condom). If you're on a short-haul flight in Asia, say, part of a segment from the US that you are travelling between Asian countries, then Cathay is one of the better choices, only to be outdone by or on par with Singapore Air, regardless of what class you're flying. One thing about Ground staff. They are great in Hong Kong for any class, but in most places in the US, except for first class, they are anything but stellar. Ground staff of other Asian airlines in the US are far better across all classes. read more

We we had the most horrific experience with Cathay Pacific We purchased our ticket and there was a typo in middle name. I paid upwards of one hundred dollars to not encure any change fees. The supervisor made us pay 150 us dollars to make the change. We called expedia and learned that as long as the first and last names are right we would be ok. The manager paid no attention. It was later confirmed by the TSA in seattle that we would have been ok with the small typo in the middle name. I took Cathy Pacific flight CX884 from HKG to LAX on 2/5/23. I did a Covid test in Shenzhen on 2/3 and tested negative. However, when I checked in at HKG they stated my report is not in English and FORCED me to do another Covid test at the airport. I had to lug my large suitcase from the 7th floor down to the 5th floor. They charged me RMB400 for an antigen test, and then made me carry my suitcase BACK up to the 6th floor to do the test. The Cathy Pacific airport staff member and his supervisor LIED to me, saying that an ENGLISH Covid test was needed to enter the US. Turns out, the US customs didn't even bother checking the Covid report at all. Per US CDC website, "If your documents are in a language other than English, you should check with your airline or aircraft operator before travel." Flown Cathay Pacific (CX) from LAX to HKG, HKG to PEK, and HKG back to LAX. Also flown its subsidiary Dragonair (KA) from PVG to HKG. I can't really compare CX to other Asian airlines because I haven't really flown with others before. Overall, I had a great experience with CX and it's probably my choice of airline when traveling to Asia. Economy seats are decent. I guess it depends if you get a new seat or an old seat. The new seats are pretty comfortable while the old ones are not. The seats recline pretty far back but for some reason it's not really comfortable at the bottom. Maybe it's my posture, but I could definitely not sleep at all on the old seats. Every seat has an entertainment screen and they have pretty good stuff on it. They have pretty recent movies as well as good music. Lots of EDM such as Kaskade and Above & Beyond. It also comes with a USB port where you can charge your phones and stuff. On my flight that lasted 15 hours, LAX to HKG and back, we were served two meals. They were pretty tasty to be honest, I didn't expect to like some of their stuff that much. For dinner they gave Haagen Daz ice cream so that was a plus even though they only had vanilla flavor. There is also snacks such as cup noodles and chips and water at the back for you to get any time. My complaint is that they don't come around to offer us these things because I sat at the window seat and I didn't want to wake up the people next to me. Service is pretty standard though, they serve and collect and also come if you press the button. They were all friendly and also attractive haha. KA has got to be the best domestic flight I've taken in China. It is so much better than Air China and other airlines for sure. They give everyone a bottled water at their seat and for their Haagen Daz ice cream you get to choose what flavor you want. My only complaint is that we didn't exit at a terminal but rather on the airstrip with a bus taking us to the terminal. You do pay more for CX but I'd say it's worth it. I will probably choose to fly with Cathay Pacific or Singapore Airlines when going to Asia. read more

Flown this airline since I was a kid, because this is the airlines my family love and enjoy taking. Used to love it before when I was younger. Anyways let me add my review and the reason why I gave this 3 stars. I flew from Los Angeles (LAX) to Cebu (Mactan) with economy for vacation for the summer break. Arrival: Boarding was delayed 40 mins at LAX by the airlines. No clue why. They just announced that they were. Economy Seat: I sat on a window seat to get that extra head rest space. The seating was very comfortable with enough space for me. I also had enough room to move my seat back. They provided a blanket, a pillow, and a headset. The blanket was pretty warm, but the pillow was kinda hard. Entertainment: The headset wasn't really stable, but it did it's job. The tv was all touch screen and finding the volume was rather annoying to find.. you have to press a certain button on the screen (that doesn't even light up or on the actual screen itself, it's more like on the edge of the screen that only lights up when you find it). They had many genre options for their music, tv, movies, and most were updated and new releases. Some old too. They had a wide variety of foreign and local shows and movies. From Western to HK, to Indian, and European. They also have the option for subtitles. Food: The food was okay. They give you like 3 options. Local HK/Chinese meal, Western, or Vegetarian. Dessert was a ice cream popsicle. The juices were apple and orange only. They offered coffee and tea. And noodles for snacks (upon request). I ordered the Muslim meal, because of my religion. And the Muslim meal from LAX to HKG flight was okay.. but the Muslim meal from HKG to Cebu was really really good ! But just mind if you request a special meal through the app, you will not get any dessert.. smh. That was a negative for me. But they will give you the meal first before anybody.. but they won't offer you any drinks, until the rest get their food. So it was really bad for me. I had to wait until everybody got their meal before I was offered any drinks.. totally felt out of place Staff: The staff from HKG to Cebu, all the staffs were friendly and attentive. The one from LAX to HKG they were also attentive. But not so friendly. The flight attendant taking care of my aisle rarely smiled. She only smiled one time during the whole 14 hour flight, and that was because the plane was about to be near our destination.. ughhh. Price: The price was really reasonable and affordable. I got mine for $821 w taxes. But I booked months ahead. The regular prices are mostly one thousand plus. Overhead Compartment: It's a mess ! It's assigned to your seat, however I noticed mine was full.. and it was from other ppl from the seat next to mine and across from me.. like seriously ? No enforcement whatsoever from the attendants. Rest Room: It was ehhhh. I tried not to use. But it was made sure it was cleaned after every one or two use. They provided toilet paper, tissue, soap, hand moisturizer, and face lotion. The space was small (but what can you say ? It's an airplane lol). My experience was an okay one. It wasn't the best experience I've had on an airplane, but it definitely wasn't bad at all. I just feel like it was very unorganized. And which is why I gave it 3 stars. As for me, I will look at EVA air for my next experience. I've heard that it's similar but much better since it has quit a lot of new stuff and newer airplanes. read more

Recently flew with Cathay Pacific for the first time a few days ago. We flew economy from Dulles IAD airport. I was surprised to find that the flight was completely booked. I had no idea so many people traveled to Hong Kong from the DMV area. We have flown internationally quite a few times so we wanted to try another airline. Cathay Pacific was interesting. Upon entry the airport we noticed that there was a long line at counter. Clearly, everyone was on our flight but the gate check agents were taking their sweet time to get people checked in. That wasn't cool because we noticed a few agents that had no patrons and could help speed Up the process but it is what it is.... Their economy seats feature the old-school 3/4/3 seating which was comfortable enough. I was able to get a window seat for this long 15 hour flight to Hong Kong with another for additional 4 hours on to Singapore. I was happy with my seat which came with a pillow, blanket and headphones. Standard but appreciated. I will say that the service on this flight was not as friendly as I am accustomed to in our international travels but what can you do? The meals on board were actually pretty good. I had the steak stir fry for dinner and the omelette for breakfast and I was pleasantly satisfied with both. They also offer vegetarian options and other light snacks like chips and sodas and the dessert of choice was Häagen-Dazs ice cream which was pretty cool. I'm about 6 feet tall so flights are generally uncomfortable for me but Seating in this economy cabin was decent for the 15 hours. Negatives were that was nothing personalized about the service on Cathay, the flight attendants were blah and there were some odors on the flight but not Cathays fault. Flight attendants were not readily available and seemed unconcerned with assisting patrons outside of normal food and drink service. A note of caution for all those who travel internationally If you didn't already know, the carry-on bags from his international flights are only 7 kg which is about 12 pounds completely different from US standards. Also know that even check on bags for international travel vary do be advised. International economy on Cathay was 20 kg which is about 44 pounds so buyer beware. I ended up checking both carry on and checked bag because of weight restrictions. I would have to give this airline three stars for service, time spent to check in, and overall experience. I'll fly again but regionally. read more

My flight was set to depart LAX March 16th. On March 14th received e-mail from Cambodia's embassy that they were suspending entry to foreigners due to COVID-19 to go into effect March 15th. Due to flight duration and different time zone this put our arrival to Cambodia on March 18th. Since I could no longer reach my destination we contacted our airline regarding this issue. Cathay Pacific refused to cancel our flights so we had to do it from our end and incur a cancellation fee of $225. Very disappointing since another vacation flight I had to cancel at least offered me the credit to use within 2 years time. read more

NOTHING SPECIAL about Cathay Pacific. They used to be a "premiere" airline, noted for exceptional service. Not any longer. On several recent flights from LAX to HKG and back, we experienced non-working entertainment systems, lavatory sinks that were blocked up and didn't drain, and below-average food. For this you pay "top dollar". In my 'Premium Economy' seat, the fold-out video display arm was broken and had to be held in place with duct tape!!! For this I paid $1,100? I'm not even going to mention the rude and indifferent flight attendants who leave the food trays uncleared for over an hour. It's no wonder Cathay's reputation and ratings are going downhill. Next time, we are going to try AA.... read more

This has always been my favourite airline because they have such wonderful service and food to the passengers on the aircraft. They are very organized and always ready to serve dinner, breakfast or small snacks. I love the ramyun and the breakfast because of the variety and flavour even when the aircraft food is up in the air. read more

Our flight CX881 from LAX was delayed when it left LAX at 1:22 AM instead of 12:55 AM. It then delayed the second time in Hong Kong. Arrival time supposed to be at 6:45 AM, but it arrived at 7:20 AM. The issue was connecting flight KA232 scheduled to leave at 8:00 AM. We flew EVA, China, etc and they wait if it is the same booking and passengers has checked-in. You don't have to wait if the passenger book the 2 flights separately. The reason we fly with Cathay because of fewer stops to Chiangmai . Now we had to leave from Hong Kong to Bangkok and arrived to Chiangmai at 2 PM instead of direct from Hong Kong and arrived to Chiangmai at 10AM. A 4 hrs waste of time and missed scheduled meeting! This was not just one passenger but roughly 20 that got redirected. This was unacceptable practice of Cathay Pacific. They should have at least attempted any possible ways to accommodate the passengers. It turned out that KA232 also delayed 30 minute. This group of passengers should have allow to board. Unbelievable. If waiting for the passengers not possible, whoever schedule the time need make sure to there is enough layover time between connecting flights. It should have been at least 2 hrs not 1 hrs 15mins. If there is any late arrival liked this case, there will still be plenty of time to catch the connecting flight. read more

I'm glad their ranking finally goes down and their stock goes down with them. To sum up this airline with a few sentences, I've been their loyal customer since 1997, they have zero loyalty. From their inflight service to their ridiculous small seats (it only gets worse), this is a "budget airline with premium price". There are airlines and then, there's Cathay Pacific. So, I booked a coach ticket to Asia (hell, if you're snickering because of that, why don't you give me your credit card and I'll charge a business class ticket on my next vacation to your card, bitch!) for an unofficial 3-week Yelp Detox program. The flight was fucking long and arduous but you just can't beat the fact that you get an endless supply of Top Ramen on the entire flight from Los Angeles to Hong Kong and back. Four stars! A boiling cup of Top Ramen at 35,000 feet? That's hot --- literally HOT! Ah yes, upgrade is easy - three times on my other flights/legs in Asia - no need to beg and cry, just ask nicely. read more

I recently rode in Cathay Pacific's business class to Hong Kong. Compared to the business class seats of China Airlines, EVA Air, Air China, Korean Air and China Eastern, I appreciate the private space and flat bed more than the other airlines'. The seat has fully flat 180-degree reclining seats that stretch out six-and-a-half feet! . The TV screen is much larger than the others as well. I think it's abt 15 inch. There is in-seat power for your laptop, and they actually turned on the power, unlike China Airlines that has the capability but rarely turned on its electric power. Here are more details: Chair: Excellent but not as good as Singapore Airlines. All the buttons make sense unlike China Airlines. The one down side is that since the feet all come out on the diagonal seats, walking the aisle is like avoiding touching someone's stinky feet! TV: Super cool with the larger screen. There is on demand TV with loads of movie selections. Food: I was served a four course dinner with a choice of four entrees. The steak was decent. The Chinese meal was also very good on a prior flight. They were no match for the food in Hong Kong, but for airline food, it was much better than the average food in Air China, China Eastern and China Airlines. My customer who was a wine connoisieur, complimented on the airline's wide selection of fine wines. Service: The service was good, professional and efficient, but I think I like Korean AIr and Singapore Airlines better. I had to ask for water twice. Lounge; Called The Arrival in Hong Kong is the best I've been to. In addition to the chic design, it contains a noodle bar, self-serve buffet and work stations. What is most impressive is the private marble-clad shower areas that other lounges do not offer. Overall, the flight was great. It was one of the best plane trips I've had, and I have nothing to complain about. I'd say on my personal preference list, it is not far behind Singapore Airlines and slightly lower than Korean Air, but certainly better than the other Chinese and Taiwanese airlines. read more
