The positive... waitress was nice, fast service. The negative, I really wanted to like this place but i expected more for a $13 breakfast burrito. I ordered a meatless breakfast burrito and all that was in it was egg and tater tots (very few at that)... no bell peppers, no onions, no cheese, no seasoning, no salsa!!! I had visited this restaurant a few years ago when I used to live in Waterford, CA. However, I never submitted a review. While on Yelp, I noticed a request to submit a review for this restaurant . I am more that happy to oblige with a 5 star review since I had a great experience in this small but very hospitable restaurant with a small town feel. Their meatloaf was exceptional the couple of times I tried it. If they still offer it, you must try it. They have the traditional breakfast fares and lunch servings, but I don't recall them being open for dinner. So do check before you visit. You will be served with a smile and you can expect to get a great tasting meal. read more

We entered to several notices that it's a cash only place. We were okay with that. Friendly service at this small country-town diner. Stopped in on a Sunday at about 10:45 for breakfast. All table seats were taken, and there were two seats at the counter, but two women were seated in between them. If they scooted down we could have sat there, but they didn't offer and we didn't ask. So we waited for about 15 minutes for a table to open up. It did. We sat by a front window watching the storm outside and the many more cars arriving full of people to get into the coffee shop. Looks like they are typically busy on Sunday mornings. The menu stated that Lunch is available starting at 6AM. So we skipped breakfast and looked at the lunch menu. I got the patty melt with potato wedges. The hamburger patty, cheese and grilled onions were served between two slices of toasted rye bread. I think the patty may have been preformed/frozen, just judging by the texture and taste. Would have been much better if it was freshly formed and made to order. The wedges were delicious. My wife got the turkey sandwich with split pea soup. The soup portion was large and served hot as it should be. They provided two soup spoons - didn't even have to ask. Overall, great little busy diner. We will be back. read more

The potatoes were nicely seasoned, cubed with onion & bell peppers. The eggs were just right. The country gravy was hot & creamy, but could have used more seasoning. I added black pepper to perk it up. The portion size was good & not wasteful. The price was great at $11.95. I pay $14.95 in my area an hour & a half away, so Cathy's has a great deal. This was our first time to Kathy & Carrols Coffee shop. The restaurant was clean and service was good. Our coffee cup was never empty. We both had the chicken fried steak with eggs over, hashbrowns, and biscuit and gravy. Gravy was loaded with bacon and sausage. Food was very good but in my opinion needed a touch more seasoning.
