Talk about a small local gem. As soon as you walk in you can tell this is a local spot with loyal followers. It is a seat yourself, with a nice bar and a couple booths and high tops. It has a second room with high tops and a pooltable. Waitress came right over and provided a large menu and multiple specials. She was very nice and gave us the lowdown on the beers on tap. We sat it out with their special with garlic Parmesan., a nice 10 piece crispy chicken wings with a nice cover of sauce. Wife then went with the Greek salad with grilled chicken and I had the Baby back ribs special. The ribs fell off the bone like they are supposed to and had a good sauce. The fries could have been hotter, but I'm just being picky. The price was very low as well. read more

Drinks were good but we went there to play pool bur an older man wouldn't let my friends play at all. So after asking the man 2 or 3 times to play he just went up to the bartender and told them my friend were "bringing nips into the place" so instead of asking she just told us to leave. Went there Saturday (01/04/25) and the beers were way too expensive, I put down a $20 for two Sam Adams and got a dollar back...A 12 pack goes for $16 at the liquor store, so the older blonde bartender either just took a huge tip for herself or their prices have gone insane. Last time I went a month or go I ordered three beers on tap and a bar pizza, they charged me $100 for all of that. Don't think I will be returning anytime soon... read more

The food is great but as another reviewer mentioned, the bleach smell is overpowering and ridiculous. They need to redo their cleaning standards. My family and I had to leave after drinks this evening because of the smell. read more

Great little bar good drinks okay food. However was there today and heard a verbal argument that they said it was a "trump bar" so do with that as you will. If you want great and delicious food then you Need to go to the Catman Cafe it is the best food their chicken wings and steak and shrimp is to die for and their bar is great they have a bartender named Brenda she is the best she makes you feel at home and makes the best drinks and I absolutely love Steve who is the owner and the cook He is very nice and well known I had locked myself out of my car and he helped me he calmed me down and let me use his phone to call AAA and made me feel confortable and like family he gave me a drink on the house until AAA came I can't express how much that meant to me where i was in such distress he really took time out to make sure i was ok even while their resturant was very busy this is the best spot to go if want to feel at home and welcome with great food and friendly people and the locals this is the place to go read more

An absolute gem located in the heart of Mansfield, MA. I went in for an ice cold lager. As i sat down, "thunder road" by Garth came on the juke. I tipped my cap to the young gent who put in on. Instantly brought me back to 1997. As the night rolled on, I ordered a Miller Lite. Coldest brewski I've ever had. Ordered the tips medium rare. Delicious. Didn't get any sauce on my mustache. Solid breakfast spot with helpful, but super busy staff. I sat at the bar and was greeted quickly and given a menu and the daily specials. I chose one of the dailies. Chicken fried steak with eggs over medium and home fries. It came with some challenges when it showed up; such as chicken fried chicken, (not steak), and runny eggs and some massive chunks for home fries. Nothing to worry about since they're swamped and I'm hungry and flexible. The taste of the chicken fried chicken was much better than I expected! I used the runny eggs under the chicken as extra rich flavor. The potatoes remained a challenge since some chunks we're so thick they weren't cooked all the way. A couple of suggestions to Mr. Cat Man, re-tip the ends of the barstools since all of them scrape when trying to get up from the bar. Cut down the size of your potatoes a bit and you could have more volume thus decreasing your food costs. Change your ticking system since the amazing bartender lady could be more productive and happier than frantic about what she's missing... she's badassed and awesome. Lastly, this is a cool place, so if you chose to change nothing, it's still got a cool factor for it's own character. I'll be back! read more

CATMAN!! All weekend, my friend from Mansfield kept talking about "The Catman." The name in and of itself made the rest of us laugh, and made us insatiably curious as to what exactly a bar called "The Catman" - his favourite local dive where he and his friends are affectionately known as "the boys" - would be like. Turns out, it's perfect. It's everything I dreamed of and wanted from a townie bar in Mansfield Mass - complete with the sweetest bartender ever in a Red Sox jersey with a wiiiiiicked Massachoosits accent, guy. Additionally, the Catman is upholstered with 80s wood paneling and is replete with local gentlemen in mesh union hats drinking cheap beer specials. The bloody mary I ordered was just average, which is exactly what I expected. This ain't no disco! This ain't no country club, either. I love this place and would be here constantly if I lived in Mansfield, Mass (God help us all). They have a pool table, the requesite Sox/European football game on the TV, and plenty of ladies whose hair just got a phone call from 1989. And you KNOW I love me some townie bars. Me + Catman = lurve. Remember that song, the "Scatman," from the 90s-ish? Yeah, now I have it stuck in my head. CATMAN!! read more

There's a real slippery scene goin' on in this joint. People just stare at you for hours on end without ever blinking or breaking eye contact. I made the mistake of bringing my kids in here and I instantly felt like that guy who foolishly takes his kids to see Hostel in the theater. Awful experience. Came in to try the steak tips for lunch with the family. Quickly realized the place was more liquor being served, than food. The crowd and atmosphere IS NOT family oriented. Catman Cafe name is deceptive, should be called Catman Bar and Grill. It's mainly a bar. It was loud, and some customers go out to smoke in the entry, causing customers to inhale second hand smoke as the enter. They can be loud on the streets up to 2 a.m. while taking smoking breaks.....I know as I live across the street. A rough crowd for this, as another reviewer stated, a dive. Frequent customers who think they run the place, bikers, construction workers, etc. Seemed to be the mix. It gets noisy, especially the music and pool table in the back. Food was OK, the tips cooked well, but the atmosphere kills it. Only saving grace wad the food was reasonably priced and the server was nice, despite the distractions. This place has, hands-down, the cleanest bathroom ( cleverly camouflaged by the creepiest supply area/hallway ) in the tri-town area. I think I would have preferred to eat my meal there than at the table...but I don't get the feeling that patrons frequent the Cafe for the food. No, the Catman Cafe is a BAR, and a decent one if you're looking for a low-key hole-in-the-wall to meet up with friends, play a few rounds of pool, and sidestep the inebriated and lust-filled. The drinks are cheap, the beers on tap are all nationally-recognized, and the menu is standard-issue bar fare, although their menu is pretty adorable...cute names and kitten clip art, which warmed my cranky heart. I met up with friends here after my bestie rocked a performance at the Mansfield Arts Society, and I would go back for another round---really! read more

Dive bar feel and vintage decor with a friendly staff. I recommend the wingdings if you've got an appetite. They give you a good amount and you'll want that many when you try them. Very addicting. While it's very low-key almost to the point of being looked over, it's good for a night of laid back conversation and drinks with friends. Overall, it's got a nice atmosphere and menu that makes for a local gem. read more

Good Keno action. There is a little room with pool tables and a Golden Tee machine, but I haven't seen them in operation. Maybe at night - I have only been here around 5-6 pm. It is especially dank, which is a quality I look for. read more

Best steak tips around and the portions are generous! Pizza is also good here, better than expected from a bar. I mainly eat the steak tips, so my review is limited to that lol. As far as atomsphere I'll be the first to agree that "dive bar" sums up the feel of the place. However, the Cafe more than makes up for it by having cheap and delicious specials on food and drinks. The portions are very generous and the pricing is more than fair offering the perfect alternative from the chains like NinteyNine, Fridays, Applebees,etc. For games there is atleast a TV in view where ever you are sitting along with darts, pool tables, and some arcade games. The games offer a safer alternative from the occational bar fights and 80 year old granny in fishnets. With the Catman why would anyone want to venture out to Boston $$$$? read more

The place was slow, not many people there, so we expected pretty decent service. We were wrong. One woman by the door acknowledged us by saying hello. Other than that, no one said a word. We just got looked up and down by the patrons as if we didn't belong. We have lived in Mansfield for over a year, so we are not "outsiders." Place is odd looking from outside and must have been a diner in it's former life. I have never eaten anything here and it looks like the kitchen might be a little scary, but surprisingly most people say the food and pizza is pretty good. Funny place to get a few drinks late night on the weekend, very local mixed crowd. I swear this place looks like the bar in Star Wars some night's. I will be back and I might try the food eventually. I just moved to Mansfield and wanted to try this place out. It's the perfect local bar! I had jack and coke and it was made perfectly. Ordered the grilled chicken sandwich for dinner and it was yummy. Basic food but done well. We got our food quickly but the wait staff was a bit slow showing up to replenish drinks and give us our check. Over all, I think this will be my new place! read more
