I asked some locals where a great place to go for lunch was, they highly recommended Jimmy 's Pub. The atmosphere was great. I was greeted by Murph the bartender who has worked in the establishment for years. I ordered an Italian sandwich special. It came with fresh chips and a pickle. What a meaty sandwich. Was loaded with everything. Absolutely amazing sandwich. The bar was awesome. Murph made some good drinks. Ends up he knew my neighborhood growing up. Great conversation. Prices were very reasonable. We frequent this establishment for both lunch and dinner. Lunch is often a Reuben Sandwich. Dinner has repeatedly been the New York Strip steak with potato and vegetable. The steak is always cooked to perfection by friendly servers, who take an interest in the diners. read more

First time last time. Someone complained that my wife (who was a few weeks post knee replacement) put her foot on the extra chair at our table to elevate her knee. Very discrete. The waitress decided to pass that along to us instead of ignoring it and allowing us to enjoy our dinner or engaging a manager to deal with it. Unprofessional is an understatement. She made my wife feel very bad about this. We gave her the customary 20% tip because I understand how these hard working people make their living but didnt care enough to engage the manager. Well run New England neighborhood pub and restaurant. Second time here. Our server has worked here for a long time. The owner is very involved and known in the Mansfield community. Service is an A+. Not only was our server attentive, friendly and truly invested that we enjoyed our food and experience, the rest of the dining room had hustling employees taking care of guest needs. Friendly attentive hostess at the door. Bar full of happy locals unwinding with delicious cocktails and food at the end of their long days. I gave up alcohol last year but they have NA Beer and other viable non alcoholic options. My wife in the past and sister in law on this visit had great well made cocktails. Server had many recommendations. I love Haddock and Cod and I can't get it regularly where I live now in Philly. I got the simple dish of baked haddock with crumbs and served with fresh carrots and mashed potatoes. It was cooked perfectly, super fresh and very satisfying. Other food in my party also were great options with big portions. A made to order Chicken Pot Pie was outstanding! Chicken Kabob perfectly grilled. My only recommendation would be to add a Tzatziki sauce but chicken was tender and cooked perfectly. Homemade soups and Buffalo Chicken Rangoon so good! Haven't been in awhile but decided to try again. So glad we did. Food was great service was amazing and very glad I tried it again.

Was recommended Jimmy's by a local in the parking lot of Fresh Catch after they unfortunately had to shut down due to building power going out. So I went a rock skip down the street to Jimmy's and got the lobster roll I was craving while visiting town. Also got the seafood baked mushrooms, and had a whiskey sour. The drink was fire! They make good drinks there. As a whiskey sour connoisseur, I can say they know how to make the correct balance of whiskey, sour, and non-bitter flavor. Real sour mix over there! The stuffed mushrooms were different than I expected. I expected stuffed medium size mushrooms but they were smaller and baked under breading and cheese. Still crushed them, although I think the breading was a little too much this batch. Finally, the lobster roll and fries was well worth it. I got mine hot, came out with good seasoned butter, and the fries were hot and ready. I hate coleslaw and even that slapped! My waitress was great all night even with a packed section for her. Glad I stumbled into a local recommended spot. Nice weather outside to enjoy the patio too. Took a little longer than desired to get seated but those are moot points when the food and service trumps them. I'll be back on my next trip! read more

I'll just say at the outset that I had preconceived ideas about this place when my SIL suggested that we all meet up here for lunch. Friends of ours were always reporting that they were at this boozer called Jimmy's getting clobbered. I expected a louch, dark boozy pub and found a bright lively restaurant with terrific food! Huge portions of delicious food for short money? I'm there! I had some of the onion rings which were delicious, and shrimp scampi over rice pilaf rather than linguine. It was excellent! I could not eat it all and still make the drive back to Cape Cod comfortably. My SIL's fish and chips plate was huge and she reported that it was delicious. My BIL had an enormous burger with sweet potato fries. Next time when I'm looking for Fish & Chips in the area, I'll know where to go! read more

Cute place to get a casual bite to eat! The pretzel sticks are a tasty app, and the cinnamon rim on their espresso martini puts a delicious twist on a classic drink. We dined outside at this restaurant and ordered the Reuben and Big Jack's Chicken Sandwiches. Both came with steak fries. I thought both sandwiches were good, they were generous enough with the corned beef in the Reuben and seemed to use quality ingredients. Portion sizes were good although I thought the sandwiches were just a tad on the pricey side. Service was excellent. Country music played out of the speakers at the outdoor dining patio, I would have preferred almost any other music...smooth jazz, classic rock, 80's pop, 90s pop, anything, especially on a Saturday night. But then again, this is JIMMY'S! You're not gonna hear Brahms piano concerto. All in all, a nice experience. read more

Hello my good friends. Today I'll be writing a review on the one and only Jimmy's Pub. And don't criticize my review because I'm a professional reviewer. First we will be talking about the Mac n cheese. It was really cheesy and just amazing. And they gave you the perfect size. I'll rate the Mac n cheese a solid 8.5/10. Then we will go on to the fries. Well personally I didn't really like the fries. They didn't have a good crunch and they were just floppy. And they didn't have the fry shape either, it was like a rectangle. I'll rate it a 4/10. Last main meal I'll be rating is the chicken tenders. I had the chicken tenders once. And not gonna lie they were kinda dry. They had a good crunch but they just didn't have enough chicken and it was just crust. And it looked black. I'll rate it a 3.5/10. Now we'll do some drinks. The root beer was pretty good and it was my go to drink there. And it had the perfect amount of sizzle and just good taste. I'll rate it a. 8.7/10. Last drink will be the Shirley temple . Well I only got this once. And it just wasn't the best Shirley. It was kinda purple. And it just had to much sizzle. I'll rate it 5/10. Last deserts. The kids ice cream. It comes in chocolate or vanilla. It doesn't come with any toppings just plain ice cream but it is still good. It just regular ice cream though nothing special about it 7/10. The waiters are good. But the bathrooms no stalls just one toilet. Like what if you had to go to the bathroom really bad but someone was in there? Well overall I just rated it a 4 out of 5 stars. read more

Where to start the wide open roomie friendly space beautifully decorated there is nothing on the menu that is not above and beyond amazing the drinks out of this world. The owner is a nice local man. They've been there since the 70s that right there speaks volumes. I recommend this to any of all people it's an atmosphere. You can bring children tables barstools event halls. It's just amazing. Too Expensive Draft Beers = with tax and tip 13 dollars? Chicken and Cheese Rigatoni = 25 Dollars? French Dip Sandwich = 14 Dollars? Overall, I used to like a Jimmy's but the bar is too small, being stuck in the dining room is like being in a morgue with slow service. Three beers, two were cheap lite beer bottles, a soda, sandwich, and a plate of pasta. Total with tax and tip was 80 dollars!!!! To hang out in the place for an hour. My girlfriend's and I came here for dinner and had to wait 45 minutes then we're seated and had to wait another 45 minutes for two salads and a dip .There was no manager on duty the bartender was acting as a manager and he didn't seem to care that we were sitting there for that long waiting.Terrible customer service. WOW Jimmy's has Trillium on draft. I don't know any other place around here that does. Today's blessing was a DIPA Dialed In Moscato's and Illustrated. Both great NE IPA's cloudy and complex. The Moscato at a 9.2 ABV is a permutation on the old Dialed Up with added Moscato wine sweetness. Illustrated at 7.2 ABV had a little more bite. Both delicious. The draft list here is small but exceptional and it being a pub with good food makes for a compelling reason to check it out. It was a Saturday and we came in early and got a good seat in the dining room as the bar was packed. We had a great waitress who had a nice sense of humor. Totally loved the calamari which was coated and fried and had a General Gau's flavor. I would absolutely get that again. The jumbo shrimp were good not great tho and at $14 a bit pricey for 4 shrimp. We split the Monte Cristo sandwich and honestly it wasn't up to what we had a few years back on a visit. Was not fried enough kind of mushy with a creamy consistency. I know there was ham in there just never popped. Reminded me a bit of french toast? Anyways we saw a gigantic nacho plate go by and the couple next to us devoured it and said it was great so maybe we will try that next time and there will be a next time as the beer, food and atmosphere mix makes for a great time. read more

I'm coming out of retirement to leave this one. Bartender working lunch today was the last straw for me here. Why be such a negative person? This is the only legitimate Monte Cristo deep fried sandwich left around in all of Boston and New England it seems (I LOOKED). Making it with French toast is not how it's done. Bennigan's style deep fried is a must. Come here just for that. Eating outside is nice but there were lots of bees. Inside is probably a better choice. read more

Used to eat here years ago when I worked in the area and it was always good. Stopped today for lunch and was happy to discover the same quality I remembered. The atmosphere is cozy and the service friendly and very efficient. Drinks were generous and chilled to perfection. The best part was the sandwiches we ordered. Mine was the Turkey Tempe. "Mounds of turkey baked with jalapeños, bacon Cheddar, tomato, hot pepper relish, & whole grain mustard." It was amazing and reasonably priced at &12. My girlfriend ordered George's Hot Pastrami. "Mounds of lean pastrami piled high on a toasted bun with slices of tomato, red onion & melted Provolone." It was piled high and, as promised, nice and lean. Also a deal at $13. My fiancé and I have been visiting Jimmy's since we moved to Mansfield in May of last year. It is undoubtably our first choice for a bar/restaurant when we go out on the weekends. From the hospitality of George and Murph, to the excellent food and drinks, Jimmy's is a great choice for any occasion. By the time we sit down at the bar, George and Murph have our two Tito's and sodas going, and their ever-changing specials menu has something for everyone. Our personal favorite is the Quahog. Being a seafood lover from Rhode Island originally, I have had my fair share of stuffed quahogs, and Jimmy's is by far my favorite and the only one that my fiancé will eat. You can't go wrong with anything on their main menu either; everything is fresh and delicious including the clam chowder, quesadilla, chicken marsala, TPC dip, steak and cheese sub, and calamari. Since the new rules for restaurants began, Jimmy's has been transparent with their customers in order to make sure that we knew what they were offering for takeout and when. Even their limited menu has a wide selection and their curbside pickup has seemed seamless from a customer's point of view. Moving into Phase 2, we had the pleasure of dining outdoors last night and it was great to be back. We were seated promptly under the tent for our 7pm reservation, the drinks were brought out quickly, and the food was as good as ever. Okay. So I was a little hesitant to go here because I had heard that the owners son was a snob and only wanted a certain "class" of people at his restaurant. Well, I'm glad I went because the food was delicious. I got the scollops and they were awesome. My dad got this chicken plate (see attached picture) and he loved it. Parking was easy. The waitress was fast and polite. I haven't sat at the bar yet but when I do I'll update the review. My only negative is that it's definitely not cheap to eat here. read more

We meet the owner and he was so gracious to us and sympathetic to our loss. 16 of us sat and were treated with such gracious service and hospitality. if I could, I'd give it 4.5 stars. Our only complaint was a dirty bathroom. There were scraps of TP all around On the floor. The paper dispenser was empty but had the roll sitting on top. And, there was water on the floor. The food was EXCELLENT. I had a steak and mushroom with mayo, and my friend had the Monte Cristo. We were both delighted with our food. And, there was plenty of it. We both went home with doggie bags. It tasted SO good, I needed to force myself to stop eating when I knew I was full. I highly recommend both of those dishes! Our waitress, Lori, was lovely and accommodating. The chairs are simple wooden chairs, and, unfortunately, I have a bad leg and it became uncomfortable for me as it hit a painful pressure point in my thigh. Next time, I think I'll bring a chair pad. I used to go to Jimmy's frequently. The food is decent, prices ok, and it's not usually too difficult to get seated. However after witnessing how horribly the owner treats his staff, I will never step foot in this place again. Reducing a teenage girl to tears over nothing material - name calling, berating, and just basically being an a*hole are normal operating procedure for George P. I wonder if he would stand for anyone speaking to HIS daughter the way he speaks to other people's daughters. read more

This place has a good selection of craft beer. I was able to get Samuel Adams Summer Ale here. This place offers health conscious choices. Therefore, if you're a vegetarian there are plenty options for you here. For example, vegetarian friendly salads priced at $8 at a filling size portion. They also have a hummus wrap which is $10. If you're vegan they offer zucchini sticks on the appetizer menu for $8. I personally at the Mediterranean vegetable pasta that includes heart artichokes and broccoli. Of course, being the "habanero hog," I did have to add some tabasco that took the flavor to the next level. I loved the pasta, the temperature of the plate was just right! Bonus: Make sure to ask for the early bird specials if you come in around lunch time. It's a separate menu from the regular menu/today's specials. This is what originally brought me in here. However, I had to ask the waitress about it and she acted stumped...and then went to go get it. When I saw the pricing I could see why it was on the table to begin with...amazing deals! It displays about eight entree specials. Each entree comes with a soup/salad and a drink for $12. They have plenty of seating and a nice bar to sit at. Tried this place for the first time last night. The restaurant itself was very nice. Had plenty of tables and a big bar area. We ordered 2 sangrias which were tasty and 2 entrees. I got the harvest ravioli and my boyfriend got the fish an chips. Both meals were delicious! The only complaint I have is my bill was 70 dollars and for that price I should have been walking out stuffed or at least with leftovers. We both finished our entire meals and could have eaten more. read more

I visited Jimmy's last Saturday night to celebrate a friends birthday. We heard the Prime Rib was excellent. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. We started with an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms with seafood stuffing. There was no seafood in this dish. We asked for salads the waitress said they don't serve salads and we asked for perhaps some rolls and I guess they don't serve them either. The prime rib was good but was never served with Au Jus gravy. The mashed potatoes were good but the carrots were hard and undercooked. I ordered the steak tips. Needed to send them back as I asked for well done but they were tasty. The waitress was right on that. My baked potato was good as well as the fresh steamed broccoli. A friend who live in the area recommended this place to us. Not sure if we would return. read more

Don't let the 3 discourage you! I've been going to Jimmy's For about a decade now. Honestly I'd say it's one of my favorite spots to go grab some dinner and hang out. Then why the 3 you ask? Well, the food is great. Those steak fries are BOMB.. Fun place for cocktails and a beer... But sometimes the service lacks. There's seems to be a TON of turnover in the wait staff, so whether that's the wait staff kinda slacking, or the owners/bosses being the issue, I can't say. But it definitely puts a hinderance on the experience sometimes. Slow staff, sometimes forgetful, and not very attentive sometimes. But you definitely should give it a shot.
