    Alfie enjoying his cat tree

I really respect these women and the work they do. Suzanne and her fosters are extremely dedicated to the safety and well-being of the animals in their care and their love for them is undeniable. They are a smaller organization that spends many hours of their own time rescuing & caring for these animals and it's not easy work! We adopted our kitty Houdini (now called Alfie) a few months ago and worked with Dorothy. We are so happy that we stumbled upon them at Petsmart in Torrance on a random Sunday and found our Alfie, who is a sweet little character. Dorothy was a pleasure to work with, even helping arrange his neutering after we adopted him as he was too young to already have the procedure when we got him.

Catmandoo Rescue is an incredible organization run by a woman with an amazing heart for animals. All the volunteers also have an abundance of love for cats and kittens that are in need of a good home. I fostered a kitten once and they helped the kitten find the perfect home. Their love for animals extend to dogs too. I've seen a few beautiful dogs at their pet adoptions. There are so many sweet cats at Catmandoo who need homes. I believe loved animals show love in return. For this reason, I highly recommend adopting your next family member from Catmandoo because you will be getting a cat who has been shown love everyday.

I originally met Stephanie a few months ago, she was up-beat and so kind! I was hoping to become a part time volunteer, and she showed me the process and it was very easy. Since then, I adopted my newest baby Dionne from Catmandoo Rescue. I have seen first hand how hard Suzanne and the rest of this team works to put all kitties into happy, healthy homes. Adopt don't shop!

Suzanne, Stephanie, and Marilyn are angels on earth. I recently moved to LA and was looking to adopt a cat. Wandered into the Hawthorne petsmart and found Itty, the sweetest calico on earth. Who was soon followed by the perfect companion, Bear! They are so dedicated to my cats wellbeing and always checking up on us. I'm so thankful for the team. Thank you for my fur babies :

They gave me a sick flea ridden kitten and my kitten died in their care when they took it for "antibiotics". Here is the conversation where suzanne tried to blame me for the kittens death. Funny she was quick to offer the refund once I showed her I had proof of all the other sick kittens she's sold.

Sir Winston was one of Suzanne's bottle babies and let me tell you she did such an amazing job with him ! He is the most social friendliest cat ever ! Marilyn and Stephanie are absolute Angels they love these cats so much and it shows with how loving the cats in the enclosure are . I can never thank Suzanne enough for all her hard work and even helping me get a stray from my neighborhood fixed .

Ringworm. He didn't have this bald spot until a couple of days after I brought him home.

I hate leaving a negative review. I'm sure the organization is great but I had a bad experience. I adopted a kitten from Catmandoo 4 weeks ago. He came with a series of health issues. I should've used my better judgement to not adopt a kitten that hasn't been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and hasn't been seen by the rescues vet, but here I am... I took the kitten home without medical documents. Was told he didn't have any but that he was healthy! Now I'm hemorrhaging money in vet bills, and on the verge of a mental breakdown. The kitten I adopted came with fleas, ringworm, tapeworms, and coccidia. I've reached out to Suzanne for support and get very little or short responses. I should've saved my adoption money and rescued a kitten/cat off the street because that is exactly what I'm doing now except I paid someone an adoption fee. The worst part is that I have another cat at home and while I have been quarantining the kitten, I now have to test my resident cat for these things to ensure he hasn't been infected. I have been cleaning and sanitizing my home like crazy! And every time I feel we are moving forward, I get slapped with another issue and vet bill. It has been a nightmare! This isn't what I had envisioned when I considered adopting. It's my own fault too for not being careful with whom I adopted from. I guess we live and learn.

This rescue is such an amazing place! From the volunteers to the care of the kittens and cats they take care of. They're always a text or phone call away when ever I need help with my cat, so I'm happy they still care even after they've sent their cats to new homes.

    Adoption day for Spike!
    Heather K.

We adopted our precious little baby Spike from Catmandoo at the Petsmart adoption center in Hawthorne. I had seen Spike in the adoption area for over a month, and I was just smitten with him every time I'd see him. My husband and I were looking to get a new companion for our other cat Naomi as her sister passed away a few months ago, and she was getting lonely. I kept thinking about Spike and wanted to get more info on him. Turns out Spike needed a home with certain specifications and we ended up being the perfect fit for him! Suzanne and Stephanie were so kind and helpful throughout the whole process. I am also very happy that they keep in touch with me to see Spike's progress in his new home (as he is a very shy baby who needs a lot of patience and love). I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I definitely recommend Catmandoo for your next kitty adoption.

    Romeo's New Bed! Mine. Lol.

Where do I begin telling you the wonderful experience I had at CatMandoo? while Peeping through the windows of the cute condo like homes for the cats and kitties I noticed a woman inside the room with all the fur babies. Her name was Stephanie. I told her that I wanted to adopt! She quickly opened the door and let me inside. Within a few short moments she introduced me to the cutest, caring, most lovable! Perfect match for our hearts and home!! "ROMEO" . I couldn't be more in love I cannot thank you enough Stephanie! Especially to Susanne at CatMandoo, For All You Do!

Thanks to Stephanie and the Catmandoo Team I have Bruce Lee. Stephanie is great as she is very welcoming and helpful. I got Bruce Lee from them in healthy and happy condition. They answered all the questions I have to raise my first cat and also gave me great tips. Thank you Stephanie and Catmandoo for Bruce Lee

Both Steph and Suzanne were great in guiding us during the process of adopting a brother for our cat. Will definitely reach out again when we plan to adopt another cat.

I just wanted to know how much I appreciate Suzanne and Stephanie they go above and beyond their duties. My Hubby adopted 2 cats for my daughter's birthday and let me tell you the process was super easy and convenient and inexpensive. They take care of everything from shots to getting them fixed. I had to work and Suzanne picked up my cats for me who does that now these days NOBODY. Please adopt from Catmandoo you won't be disappointed. I love you guys and simply the best

Today me and my boyfriend came and checked out the animals. First, we walked in , greeted immediately and it was VERY clean and fresh inside. we went on and checked out the cat room and had assistance with a very kind woman. She was very well mannered and had a huge smile on her face :)! she had very positive energy. The cat room had no smell whatsoever , smelt very clean and looked very clean. I pet strawberry and luna and they were really well taken care of. The litter was also clean ! I went to the very back part of the cat room and the kittens were also well taken care of and it didn't have a smell either. They were very playful and adorable while the woman was talking to us about her fur babies she has at home ! After we played with the kitties and explored and chat a bit we decided to see the dogs. The dog area was also very clean , the dogs had no poop or pee in their kennels , the dogs were nice , had been treated properly and even another kind woman came out and handed us a bag of treats to feed the dogs and chatted with us as well ! she was very kind ! We decided to finally play with a dog and another kind woman assisted us with that , i loved her energy and she actually spoke with us about her animal of her own with us and even made it possible to see and hold a 2 month old puppy in the office (since the puppy was too young to be out on the floor). This was the BEST shelter experience I have ever had & I definitely will be coming back to adopt a fur baby sooner or later ! 10/10 costumer service and 10/10 environment ! This place is a hidden gem!

Review #969 2026-035…read more Carson Animal Care Center is part of the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care & Control (DACC), one of the largest progressive animal control agencies in the U.S. It covers an expansive region of 3.4K miles of cities, beaches, mountains, & deserts, providing 24/7 animal control & rescue services with a 24-hour communication center. DACC adopted a new philosophy expression: "Socially Conscious Animal Sheltering" in which their shelters strive to create the best outcome for all animals by treating them respectfully & alleviating their suffering with the intent to maximize their lives while balancing animal comfort & public safety. My son & I were in the neighborhood for lunch over the weekend, & saw that Carson Animal Care Center was en route home so I wanted to stop by their cat house to see if there's any kittens/cats that might be a good fit with our Lynx Point Siamese kitten that we adopted last year. There were several possibilities, but only 1 stood out, a cute 4-month old gray & white kitten; ID: A5756923. He kept meowing at us when we were near his cage, & paraded/rubbed himself back & forth in his cage... definitely wanted our attention! He reached out with his paws to tap our fingers & hands, & liked the mini rubs that we were able to give between the bars. I nicknamed him "Butter" because he just melts your heart & in your hands. He was on hold, to be released W, 02/25/26. I tried to come back before Carson Animal Care Center opens at 11:00 AM, but was slightly delayed (11:15 AM) & Butter was gone. Sad for us, but happy for him to find his fur-ever home. Yay!! I walked around to see if the previous cats had warmed up yet. Again, there were 2 cats that called out when I was near their cage... a charming 14-month old brown, black, & white female tabby with beautiful golden eyes named Sadie, & a 1-year old white & tan male domestic shorthair with gorgeous light blue eyes (similar to Snow's eyes) that is unnamed. I trekked to the front office to request interaction time & had to complete a form. By the time I received the form & returned, Sadie was adopted in a span of 10-mins; while friendly at CACC, she might be a handful at home. I waited a few minutes & no staff returned to the cat house so I went outside, & another officer pointed to another officer who could help with my interaction request. He crossed off the previous ID, & noted A5757653. The makeshift plexi-room echoed a bit so I let him explore the open space & waited for him to warm up to me. I clicked a couple of times & he came to me. This boy has a more gentle temperament, though he'll shed like crazy. He likes head & neck rubs, didn't mind me cleaning gunk from his eyes, or holding his paws/squeezing his nails too much, which means I can probably cut his nails. While rubbing against my leg, I picked him up to place on my lap & he marked my tee & jeans. I scratched him a bit more before leaving & informed the officer that I intend to adopt him. I spent almost 1/2-hr. waiting in the front office, waiting for my turn to process the adoption. I mentioned that he appears to be intact (he is) & CACC will neuter him tomorrow. I asked if it can be pushed to F, 02/27/26 due to the kids' after-school activities, & if he can be cleaned up/groomed because I won't be able to after his surgery. His coat was dirty & slightly matted, & had long, sharp nails; I'm hoping they can take care of this so he's somewhat clean coming home. There's a February adoption special... all adoptions are $14 (I'm guessing for Valentine's). Thanks for our fur baby addition, Carson Animal Care Center... we can't wait to welcome this cutie home!

With the same thinking, it would not be fair to have a dog here ......unless of course it lived indoors with us. We were blindsided when our son brought Buffy two years ago. He just showed up, and like "Here!" She followed him everywhere from one end of the house to the other and back and forth. When he left she cried and whimpered. I laid down on the floor with her and she looked at me with soulful brown eyes, pleading, "Please help me!" I cried and hugged her and told her, "I love you!" That was it! She was mine. It took some adjusting to my new mommy role added on top of the other things I do everyday. When it became apparent I was keeping her, I contacted GTTDR and spoke with Marcy. She explained their dogs are never to be taken out of state and that she wanted to send someone to Las Vegas to do a home inspection. Laurie came for the visit and saw how happy Buffy was. I allowed her to take photos and send it to Marcy. Laurie seemed pleased that Buffy had a good home, but was quite prepared to take her back to California if requirements weren't met. Marcy said, "So I hear your home is fabulous......" I was impressed that GTTDR went to such lengths. Thanks to Heather also for rescuing Buffy from a kill shelter. Two years later, we love Buffy more than you can imagine. She is family. She is three now. Though she is my primary responsibility for care, etc. she loves her dad and her grandma who lives with us. She gets three walks a day at three different parks in the area. She has tons of doggy and people friends and she loves to run and chase birds, rabbits and chipmunks. She is the fastest runner at any of the parks. Her vet says she's athletic, referring to her muscle tone. In the beginning she couldn't walk on a leash without pulling. She barked at everyone and every dog even if it were two blocks away. Now, she walks off-leash, listens to commands, understands everything I say, and has helped other dogs come out of their shell. She wants to be friends with all dogs with the exception of one. She looks to me to see if I give the okay to say 'hello' and she wags her tail and goes to the other dog/s. She is the sweetest soul you will ever meet. Everyone loves Buffy. She is good when visitors come and loves attention they give. She has such confidence and isn't shy about gentle pawing to get more rubs. On our walk this morning, she turned back to look at me with such a loving look, my friend asked, "What was that look?" I said, "She loves me!" He said, "That's what it looked like!" I'm happy she's ours. She deserves a good home and all the love she gets. She is secure and happy. Don't buy. Rescue!

They were upfront about the fact he had seizures and because he was older there was no way to know if he had epilepsy (you can find this out when they are puppies apparently) or if it was caused by something else. He also had a heart condition that could literally take him at any time. I think they were afraid I wouldn't adopt him with that kind of information but I'm not one of those people that will only adopt a "perfect dog". He was adorable and had such a gentle disposition that I fell in love immediately. When I met him he was at the animal hospital on Venice and they had little info on his previous life except to say he was found running on the 60 freeway. The rescue graciously said they would pay for any medication for his seizures and a few other things but I refused because they had done their part and I wanted them to put their money to other dogs in need. I committed to care for Peanut for the rest of his life, whatever that looked like. Many more health problems arose like skin cancer that required very delicate lifesaving surgery, neurological problems and the seizures got worse till medication was definitely required. (seizures were rare when I got him) Peanut lived to the ripe old age of 18 despite his health issues. I am so grateful for Perfect Pet and the fact they rescued an older dog with health issues that most would just put down. Peanut was such a gift and I was so lucky to be able to give him a comfortable, loving home till his final day. I only have one request for people wanting to adopt, please take a look at the older dogs, they are such loving creatures and its not fair they are overlooked because of their advanced age. When you are elderly I'm sure you'd want a loving place to be instead of being tossed away. In memory of Peanut. :)

After some serious digging I found out the cat had been transferred to Rover Rescue. They're almost 900 miles away even though we have several rescues within 50 miles. I immediately called Rover Rescue and found out they did have the cat and that it will be going to an adoption event this weekend. They REFUSED to tell me where the event was being held. I wasn't trying to get preferential treatment. I just wanted to have an equal opportunity to re-adopt this cat that has lived with me for the last year and a half and they refused to tell me where it was. Clearly they are not interested in getting animals back with loving families. I really hope it ends up with a good family but it was a stray I took off the streets. It had settled into our family very well. Now they are going to make the cat go through that again. It's also very concerning to me about how secretive the process is, even the name of the organization. I can't tell you how much I hoped the rescue wouldn't pick her up and she'd be all mine. But Rover Rescue did come to her rescue. I called them minutes after finding out she had left the shelter. You don't have an obligation to pay those fees but it really did show me how much money it does take to save these animals.
