Really cute place. I'm in love with the thought of a cat cafe in Albuquerque. The space is well organized and clean -- so don't be afraid to have a snack or a cup of coffee! And although the cats were sleeping when I visited, they had a lot of spaces to play and relax when they decided to come out. I think everyone was a bit overwhelmed with the media publicity (including the cats), so don't be disappointed if you come in and the cats are away napping by the end of the day. This is such a cool place with an admirable mission! I would definitely suggest making a reservation before you go, I'm glad we did. Their main concern (and rightly so) is the well being of the cats, so they don't want the space to be too crowded and stressful. Every staff member we met was helpful and friendly. The owner is lovely, as well. The inside is very clean with a hand washing station out in the open for easy access. I brought my six year old twins and they wanted to move in! I love that there are games and puzzles to enjoy while watching the cats. They also let the girls do a scavenger hunt and had a prize for them at the end! I appreciate this establishment because while the kids and I love cats, we can't have them because my husband is allergic. Every animal lover should give this place a try! read more

Very clean and very cute setup for all these very cuddly cats! The $5 admission fee is so worth it to get to hang out and play with these little guys. This is the worst cat cafe I've been to. They allow people to bring in small children who chase and torment the cats with no demonstration of the proper way to be around cats. And no policing the kids either. And yet I get scolded for tapping (gently) a cat picking a fight with another under my seat. And did I mention you pay to get in? The awful parents and kids were there the whole time. Some of the cats wouldn't even come out of hiding with all the shrieking. It is all ridiculous. Don't bother. read more

Sandy is such a sweet lady! Very helpful and clearly very passionate. All the cats are well loved and well taken care of, some are a little shy but most are very sweet and friendly. We went on a Thursday afternoon and it was very quiet and calm but I imagine you'd want to make a reservation on a weekend. Thanks again Sandy! read more

Being an avid cat lover, this has to be one of my favorite places in Albuquerque. The entrance fee is completely affordable, only $5 to have access to a whole new group of loving cats to get to know! The best part about this place is that all the cats can be adopted as well. If you really connect with one of these furry friends, you can take them home with you, which I personally think is so great. With a relaxing environment, this place is great to just hang out in with a couple friends or a great place to take your kids. I absolutely recommend visiting at least once! read more

Went in and found a cat I wanted to bring home to my other cat I adopted and was turned out because the cat I wanted got adopted. Now two weeks later the cat I want is still up for adoption the staff is not helpful at all and I should have just gone to the pound and adopt him. Ok.....ok...... so we walked in, burning up some time before we go to our escape room event. The lady at the fro t door tells folks (there were 5 of us) the rules prior to entry. I saw a cat that napping and went over to pet it. The cat loved it and we became buddies within 5 seconds! My friends were doing the moonwalk so I figured I must have missed something with my bad hearing. Come to find out, just to walk into the place you have to pay five dollars per person and that allows you to stay there for one hour. At first I was a bit upset, later I learned that everyone that works there is a volunteer and the money goes directly to paying for the overhead, all things necessary to run a business, and of course, the cats. So really when you look at it, it's worth it! During that hour, you are allowed to pet the cats, there are 22 at that location, but you're not allowed to pick them up. This makes sense. Imagine if the business had 22 people per day come and visit all the cats. That's 22×7 handling the cats. Not everybody is the gentle giant, polite children, cat people. This place is an excellent way to get to know a cat, in a more natural setting, then if you were to go to say the pound. There was a cat that I would've instantly taken home had we not already had a couple cats and a couple dogs in our home. Check this place out! read more

This spot has become one of my new favorites hang out spots. I have fostered over six foster kitties, and seeing a new way for these cats to get adopted is amazing. The staff at Catopia are so friendly and make me want to hang out there for hours, chatting and playing with these adorable cats. We had a fantastic blast with the cats , and $5 per person per hour is a good deal. It's relaxing and stress relieving just watching , playing and petting. This place and concept is meowsome. Kitties are sweet happy adoptable and u get to see them in a playful environment not scared in a cage. There arent really that many options for food and beverage like gatos y galletas had but thats ok the kitties make up for it. Sometimes there's events like cat yoga or art w cats. Family came by for the holidays and we decided to visit Catopia. It was one of the first things that came to mind when they asked what were fun places to visit Albuquerque. Not kid friendly: We visited not long after they opened, my 6 year old who loves cats and is very gentle tempered and my 3 year old who is well 3. She stayed in her stroller most of the time and when she was allowed time out to see the kitties she was gentle. We read the flyer when we came in and it did warn no loud noises and to be kind to the cats. My kids only flaw was when they played with the cats and the cats jumped at the toys they would laugh. We only had a short time to be there, and spent half of the time eating snack at a table. The whole time the attendant was so worried that we'd hurt or make the cats uncomfortable that she followed closely behind us constantly warning and discouraging us from interacting with the cats. The whole experience was very uncomfortable, disappointing, and embarrassing. Within an hour we were asked to leave because she said she was afraid we were making the cats uncomfortable. The cats seemed to be enjoying having some sweet happy kids interacting with them. My son was sad to leave and didn't understand why we couldn't stay longer, I did not tell him we had been kicked out or he would have felt really bad and confused himself. There are plenty of good reviews here, and we being cat lovers ourselves were excited about this place. After having to pay an entry fee just to come in at all and then being treated unfairly definitely disappointed our experience was a negative one. I think it could have been handled much better. Seems to be a great place for older people to sip tea and read a book but not for younger kids- more like a library. read more
