We were glad to discover this Cattleman's Roadhouse when we were traveling through the area. We were quickly seated and waited a short while for our server to arrive. My husband and I both ordered the salad bar with a cup of chili. The chili had great flavor, but mine was only lukewarm and I would have loved for it to be a little hotter. The salad bar had great variety with salad greens, vegetables, meats including ham and pepperoni, eggs, and also prepared salads (potato salad, broccoli salad, and macaroni salad). This was a fast and healthy lunch that we were able to enjoy quickly and then get back on the road. If we are back in this area we would happily stop by again. read more

Oh this place was great! We met my parents at the restaurant and it did not disappoint. My husband and I have started doing London Broil style steak so I let him order his medium rare (because as we all know most restaurants over do); I like my steak medium. Well needless to say it came out a full perfect medium rare. Which is what we ordered but nope not having on my end. The kitchen staff as well as our waitress were amazing!! They actually put it back on for us so we could have our combined perfect temperature. My parents each had the country fried steak and said it was so good they felt like they were in Texas. I was traveling down the interstate to Bowling Green and looking for a great steakhouse on my way. Shepardsville was a great stopping point. Cattleman's was super busy that night but service was fast and excellent. I got an nice new york steak with baked potato and a aide of mushrooms. The quality of the meat here is top notch as was the cooking leaving it flavorful and juicy. I had been talking to friends of mine and they said try Kim.... So tonight that's what I did.. I went in with my friend and we were seated in Kim's section... Let me tell you!!! The best staff, (Shepherdsville; Tasia, Hope, Erica, awesome Keith, y'all are the best) always happy, accommodating and friendly. Most the time, very decent food. Sometimes their cuts are a little off; great ribeye one week and the next week it doesn't look like a ribeye. :-/ Fried pork chops are always good but again, the cuts change which may not be the restaurant's fault. I was embarking on a cross-continental roadtrip with my third cousins. They were Amish lads and were tasked with beginning their naughty rum springa trip (yes they went buck wild) we pulled into the parking lot and Frederick immediately got into a fistfight with a juvenile groundhog. In order to properly send off this little fallen soldier the Amish boys built a makeshift coffin out of only sticks and leaves from the native trees. We sent this fella 6 inches under the earths mantle and said a quick prayer. We ate inside after this crazy encounter and all ordered the crispy chicken wrap. This shit was stiffer than the rigor mortis that the poor groundhog suffered. We spit out our food and went back into the parking lot to mourn. While mourning, we noticed our server was chain smoking black and milds... right next to the burial site. If this dumb app allowed me I would give this place zero stars. AJ is a new manager and I just had a horrible experience and he has just told us we shouldn't come back and the customer is not always right. Interaction on both sides didn't go well, but nothing was done to save from the beginning, order came out wrong, first part was handled poorly said they couldn't do anything to fix it, 2 nd incorrect order never came back to get, when they finally did everyone had finished eating so declined a recook. So instead the recharched full salad and the side item which was the same price of the meal. AJ said well you ate a salad too bad the customer isn't always right, and on bad apple doesn't spoil our bunch (basically you don't matter). Stopped in cattlemans for a later dinner last night while in the Shepherdsville area. We were seated immediately as it was a later dinner and they were an hour away from closing time. We received very good service. Everyone was really nice and helpful and kept our drinks full. The inside was really spacious with some nice decor. Although they did sit us right in a row with the other two patrons there. So big and spacious but not much privacy. Pre meal came with complimentary dinner rolls with choice of either regular butter or cinnamon butter. Rolls were solid. They don't compare to the ones at say a Texas Roadhouse or an outback but they wasn't bad. They Definitely did the trick for a pre meal filler. I personally ordered the top choice 7 oz sirloin with a side of wild rice. I ordered the sirloin medium and it was slightly over cooked but it still had pretty good flavor. The wild rice was kinda bland but when I mixed it with my A1 sauce from the steak it helped it out tremendously. All in all my meal to me was pretty pedestrian. My wife ordered the haystack sirloin medium with a baked potato and steamed broccoli. She loved her meal. The steak came with a bourbon glaze sauce and onion rings on top. They cooked her steak the way it was ordered. I tried a bite (minus the onions) and her steak was heads and shoulders Better than mine. Not sure if it was because mine was over cooked or if the Bourbon glaze was just that good. But she was very satisfied with her whole meal. Pricing for the most part was on par with most steak houses. They were slightly higher on there sirloins then most places. But other than that it's about the same price you would pay at a road house, outback or aspen creek type establishment. Overall it was a good visit. We received good service and half my party was extremely satisfied with there meal. If/when we make a return visit I'll sample something else off the menu to see if it is more to my liking. read more

Well despite coming from Chicago IL and leaving to go to Florida me and my close friend we were stuck on terrible traffic on interstate 65 Saturday afternoon . I was hungry already and saw the billboard for Cattleman's roadhouse restaurant and saw the picture of a steak. I haven't had steak since my healthy eating habits but I'm treating this as a indulgent day of traveling since we're stuck and the service from the waitresses were very helpful trying to find an alternative route around i-65 after we had lunch. The bread with the cinnamon spread was delicious. The bread was served warm and was light like a croissant. I ordered the biggest steak with called the sheriff with green beans on the side. It was very delicious and my friend ordered the new York strip and salad bar for extra cost. He enjoyed his new York strip too with baked potato. They offered A1 steak sauce but they had another steak sauce or two steak sauces I never had and I would recommend if you like tangy barbecue on your steak go for their proprietary Henry Barnes steak sauce. The Heinz 57 was okay and I didn't know Heinz also made another steak sauce besides A1 since that's all part of Kraft products. Ambience was pleasant they got that whole ranch feeling with John Wayne pictures and poster boards and Roy Rogers. I would come back here by chance but I do like the food here compared to outback steakhouse the last I went past her by quality of the food tasted much better. Even the steaks tasted much better than outback steaks and that is greasy. My friend ordered by chance a peanut butter Hi-Fi pie and if you like Butterfingers bar from Mars this is what this peanut butter high five pie taste like only it's in the form of a pie. Cam our server gave us Southern hospitality especially helping us bypass the traffic since we are heading off the Florida. I remember my friend wanted Fried green tomatoes but it looked like our waitress Cam either forgot about it or thought since we are ordering salad bar and i just wanted to eat a light side she did not charge on my bill or check. It's unusual for me to give five stars but with what we had to go through with my friend this place deserves five stars it's pretty perfect. read more

Wow! Best meal we have had in a while. Arrived on a Saturday evening, minimal wait. Could've sat and ate at the bar but waited for a table. The salad bar is AMAZING! Fresh, fresh, fresh! Lots of variety including pasta salad, broccoli salad, Cole slaw, fruit, lots of veggies, real bacon, ham, pepperoni and their house dressing is very good. The rolls are absolutely divine. Hot, soft, perfectly served with butter and sweet cinnamon butter. For appetizer we had the blackened shrimp, it was done perfectly. Spicy, hot & fresh 6 mid sized shrimp. One of us ordered the chicken fried steak with redskin mashed potatoes. It arrived perfectly done with just the right amount of gravy. Requested white gravy on potatoes as well. The other entree was the 6oz sirloin & white cheddar Mac n Cheese. Steak was cooked perfect with the slightly spicy gunpowder seasoning & the Mac and cheese is some of the best we've had. Service was good as well. For appetizer and two entrees, it was right at $60 and worth every penny. The key lime cheesecake looked great but we were stuffed full.
