It's hard to find a salad bar these days so that was a nice surprise. i ordered the beef tips - three nice pieces of tenderloin topped with a delicious gravy over mashed potatoes. With a stock yard out back, you know the steaks are gonna be fresh and Cattlemen's did not disappoint. Met the owner and she was gracious and invited us to stay. We hung out on the patio and shared stories with her grand daughter and husband who later joined. The deserts looked amazing but we were too full to enjoy. We'll plan better next time. The house Cabernet was great too and it was a nice pour. Only 15 minutes outside Grand Junction so easy to get to. We'll be back next time we come this way. read more

I will never ever be back here. Empty place very unwelcoming with no ambiance. Waitress Kirsten was very occupied with flirting with the two men at the bar. Once we're seated, we waited 10 mins for someone to take our drink order (a soda and a beer), 10 mins to get our drinks, then she couldn't take our food order, waited 10 mins to order our food... and we were the only table in the joint. LITERALLY. I ordered a 10 oz ribeye medium rare and it came well done (maybe med well? See pic) and a quarter inch thick... 10oz size questionable. Also notice how all of my sides were eaten but the steak is still on the plate... yeah she didn't check to see how our food was until we flagged her down like sailors in distress. The waitress informed me that they cut all their ribeyes that thin and if I got another ribeye, it would be 1/4 inch thick also, so I didn't order another. My friend's filet was blue rare (raw but seared on edges) but ordered medium rare and the waitress didn't offer to cook it more but instead blamed it on having a new cook. Took Kirsten 10 mins to get me a menu. When Kirsten finally found the time to come by our table to have me order a replacement, my friend finished her dinner already. I got the cowboy chili with cornbread. The chili was lukewarm if I am being generous- they could've just microwaved it like wtf how do you serve lukewarm/room temp chili if you have a microwave??? The cornbread was dry and crumbled into a million pieces. The service was the worst and least attentive I've had in maybe ten years probably my entire life. It was almost like we were in a comedy skit except it wasn't funny. I will never ever ever go back. Texas Roadhouse is way better which is just sad. I did notice an employee eating a big beautiful steak while she closed out her shift, I asked what cut and she said a ribeye. So I guess they cut the 1-1.5 inch thick cuts for employee steaks and customers get ribeyes a 1/4 inch thin cooked into shoe leather. Pro tip: go to Strayhorn. Rumor is cattleman's doesn't even use local beef anymore, they just cosplay ranch life so you get to eat a low quality steak with the comforting smell of cow poo. read more

Been a minute since we were there...forgot to post. Well, third time we visited this establishment. Not good, the first picture is what we got. the second picture is what was advertised. Our Dinner...COLD baked potato, they show loaded, but all the loaded items cost more to add. COLD steak. The shrimp were not even close to normal size. extremely tiny.(my dinner) My wife's was cold as well. so cold that soft butter would not even melt. The steaks had absolutely no flavor. It's like they were just taken out of the fridge and plopped down on a flat griddle with no seasoning at all. not like the picture. Yes, we told them and they did not even offer to re cook our dinner, warm it up or give us a discount of any kind. I only ate some of it because I was SO hungry. My dinner came out and 10 minutes later, my wife's dinner came out. Honestly, the salad bar was the best part, although it was not very fresh either, but better than the main course. Stopped here during our travels. Excellent food and service. We got the 10oz medium rare ribeye and chicken fried steak, both were prepared and cooked perfectly. Compliments to the chef! Food was so good we didn't even ask for the military discount! This place should be part of Harvest Hosts. Huge parking lot and plenty of room for trailers. Just to set the picture, this was the annual birthday lunch for me and my two sons. First off, the two stars are for the two lovely young ladies who gave me and my two sons great service. If not for that, it would have been one star. The salad bar was okay, but nothing to write home about. One son and I ordered the ribeyes. Plain and simple, they were bland. The chef needs to learn how to season a steak. My other son ordered the sirloin and he did not comment about it much. I actually almost asked for steak sauce and my philosophy is, if you need steak sauce, it is a bad steak. I am unsure if we just caught this on a day with a bad cook, or if this is the norm. Easily one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. I had such high hopes for this place. Ordered a ribeye, loaded baked potato, salad. Salad bar was disgusting and had no salad or dressings, then my steak and potato came out cold. Took one bite and the steak was extremely salty and the potato tasted like it had seen better days. Stopped by to try cattleman's bar since we heard from a few locals that the food was great. It did not disappoint. I had the garlic mushroom burger which was huge and was delicious. Came in for dinner and sat at the bar. Atmosphere and service were just fine. However, the food was quite lacking. We ordered a burger with fries and the sirloin with mac n chz and mashed potatoes. The burger was really thick, which had I known I wouldn't have ordered it cooked beyond medium. I asked for med-well and it came out rather dry but eatable. The fries were old, cold and greasy. The sirloin was ordered med-well as well but came out very well done and dry. Could only eat part of it. The mac n chz was great tho! We stopped by here for dinner on a Saturday night. The food was delicious! We had the shrimp scampi and the prime rib. I ordered the smallest prime rib and it was still HUGE. The sauce on the shrimp scampi is some of the best I've ever had. Our waitress was super busy which kind of sucked , we never got offered refills on our drinks, but she did check on us twice, right after we got our food and then when we were done so she could get us to go boxes. Our favorite place for breakfast on my days off. We drive 20 miles one way to go here! Love their Sunrise Chili Realanos. They're awesome. There's also a jr menu for a lighter appetite. Prices compare to the rest of the valley, only a lot better quality and quantity. Haleigh and Anastasia are sweethearts. Both very servile, attentive and friendly. We were riding down from Rangely on a motorcycle trip and stopped to gas up in Loma. I asked the lady at the convenience store where the best place to have breakfast was and without hesitation she said go to Cattlemen's. It was a great tip. It's a little hard to find unless you're looking for it, off the road and attached to the local sale barn, but it's worth it to look for it. We arrived a little later than the usual breakfast crowd, and it sure didn't look like a sale barn restaurant inside; nicely decorated with a full bar. We were greeted by our server immediately and had our drinks in front of us before we knew it. We all ordered traditional breakfasts. It came out fast, was perfectly prepared, and plentiful. The owner helped serve, stayed around a bit to talk to us, and even came outside and took pictures of us and our bikes in front of the place. We all agreed at the end of the trip it was the best meal experience we had during the week. I didn't see the lunch menu (they close at 2:30pm) but I'd bet the food and service were of equal quality. What happened? I don't know what happened to this place, either a different owner or different chef, but the food has gone way down hill. The ribeye was grey and tough, like it was cooked from partially frozen, as well as overdone. I added the seared shrimp and what came out, I kid you not, was cocktail shrimp that they had sautéed. I mean they brought it out hot, arranged around a small bowl of cocktail sauce (but oddly no lemons). It was quite clear it was already cooked cocktail shrimp that had been heated. When asked they gave me thin slices of lemon from I assume the beverage bar. The chicken fried steak was also way, way over cooked. Even the dessert was sloppy with half melted whipped cream. I will say the salad bar was good, as well as the fries. Maybe the cook is better with fried foods? The upside is the our server was prompt and courteous. I would try again if maybe the chef was just a temporary problem but it's so expensive to eat out anymore I don't think we can risk it. read more

Driving from the National Parks to see my brother in Carbondale we found this place on yelp. We both knew it was the place to go for an early dinner. After being seated our server Mariah appeared and guided us thru the menu. Tammy the Tornado knew what she was getting before even arriving. The filet. Mariah ran down the long list of items they are famous for and Chicken Fried Steak stood out to me. I haven't had it in 30 years. It was spectacular. Brought it up to the waitress she said she would check. Food came out it was ice cold told her she said sorry took it back came back out with the same plates 5 mins later plates where hot food was still ice cold. Manager came over and only resolution they offered was to micowave it. I don't know about you but paying almost 20 for a old burger thrown in the micowave is not something I seek to go to a restaurant for. Has definitely gone down hill. Always had favorable reviews for this place. Was even interesting to dine there when they took an anti Covid stance and where adamant that they didn't care to follow any Covid precautions as the other establishments in the area did at that time. Showed up today at 10:45am and it only took 10 minutes to get a table. Even though breakfast is advertised as being served till 11am; at 10:55 we where told we could only order off the lunch menu or get the breakfast buffet. I wanted breakfast, but definitely didn't want to eat off a buffet that looked like the food should've been thrown away before I even arrived. I really hope they resume their standards as before. However, I'm getting the impression that they're making more money by not caring. In the meantime, I'm going to support other local businesses that care about me. read more

We stopped by for lunch, giving them another chance after last year, when we were eaten alive by the flies. This time, the flies were still present. Every table, again, was swooshing the flies away. I ordered the filet mignon and my husband ordered the ribeye. These were the driest steaks we've ever had. Not a drop of juice on the plate. They also had ZERO flavor. They were obviously not seasoned in the least. The only plus to this visit was the staff. They were all very friendly and quick. I'm not sure where they are cutting the beef from, but they might want to consider a different source and invest in some seasoning. We won't return. read more

We came for my husbands birthday. Love this local, community feel if you're in the area (just off I 70 or a country drive to Loma area). We did not have reservations so they seated us at the bar although seated quickly afterwards. Unless you get beer from the bottle, their other drinks are boxed wines. I had boxed Sangria, it was ok. They have many delicious sounding options on their menu, but we came for steaks, their specialty. The waitress was very helpful in helping you select, so ask questions. Two of us had 7 oz tenderloins (5), super tasty and perfectly cooked (med rare). Corn was their vegie side so decided on fries instead (5). Also ordered chicken, chicken fried steak (3) it was dry as the waitress warned. Figured gravy would help, but it was pasty thick. Lastly was their ribeye (4) with baked potato and all the fixings 3,dry). Flavor ok, just more fat than usual. Salad bar is a hit, so don't pass that up. We will come back as we hunt in the area and it's great to stop in for a sandwich or hamburger. Prices are very reasonable with nice sized portions. read more

Came here for the first time. We Went a couple days before Christmas so they were out of almost everything from the menu. I guess they are closed the week after Christmas which is understandable. My husband ordered his filet steak medium and it came well done and dry. He got mashed potatoes with his and it looked like the plate came from a high school cafeteria or hospital. He also got the soup which he said was so salty. I got the chili rellenos (I know I'm at a steak house but they're my favorite, I thought we could share between my husband and I).
