Cattlemen's has such a cool, old-school atmosphere! Our server was friendly, and the lamb fries were easily the most memorable part of the meal. My steak came out a little more done than I requested, and service slowed down once the restaurant got busy. We also had to ask twice for a couple of condiments. Still, we had a good time and enjoyed the food. I'd definitely come back...just maybe when it's a little less crowded!

Sometimes you go somewhere just to do it and know that you experienced it, and that is perfectly ok. Cattlemen's is an institution and a classic but, it's a steakhouse and the steaks were just ok. The atmosphere was old time classic but, shabby. The service was amazing though. The servers however didn't look happy and looked like they were just gettin' er done. Cannot believe the volume of people that will come through there at random times to eat. Just up from the stockyards (you can literally smell the cow*** outside), it's in a really cool real working area that is essential to Oklahoma City. No reservations accepted, but our wait wasn't too bad. Inside it smelled like the Sizzler and Rustler chain steak restaurants of yore on the east coast and looked suspiciously exactly as they did decades ago..hmm. Carpeting inside a restaurant makes me cringe. Decent menu with good prices. The filet was cooked perfectly (if you're a steakhouse and you can't do rare, I will fail you right there and they passed perfectly) but I've never had to work to cut my slices of a filet, nor have I had gristle running through a filet so...yeah. Same deal with the chicken fried steak. Meat was mediocre and the crust was almost soggy and the portion was small honestly. Ok, but not where we'd go back to for a real steak experience ever. Salad was a bagged mix with bottled dressing. Baked potato was decent. Many staff available to refill iced teas. We went to experience Cattlemen's, not to have a Peter Luger steak dinner. So it did not disappoint honestly, and we are glad we hit up this OKC classic on our visit. Would def recommend if you are looking for a legit taste of the OKC you've heard of from the past. No complaints but if you want an excellent to wonderful steak dinner, look elsewhere.

Went to Cattlemen's to try some regional Oklahoma food and ordered the chicken fried steak. Wasn't really my thing, but that's on me. this place is famous for steaks, and I should've just ordered one instead of getting adventurous. Service was great though, my server was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The old school steakhouse atmosphere is worth checking out. Will be back to do it right next time.

Passing through Oklahoma City and stopped in for the first time. You feel the history when you step in the place. Over 100 years of serving food to those in the cattle business permeates the vibe. The service is amazing. Everyone is so welcoming and helpful. The food is next level as well. Everything tastes homemade and has Cattleman's unique spin on it. I had the Chicken Fried steak and it was one of the best I've ever had. My wife had the Hawaiian grilled chicken and she raved about it. The portion sizes were perfect as well. This place will definitely be on my list every time I'm in OKC!

Happy Father's Day to me, I love Cattleman's. I love the vibe, the setting, and the staff. They are always super nice and knowledgeable. The steaks are the best in OKC, in my opinion. I also love the lamb fries as an appetizer. If you are visiting OKC, go to Stockyard City and visit this iconic steakhouse. You will not be disappointed.

Went to Cattlemen's Steakhouse for the first time for dinner (Saturday evening) and had a good experience. I was a little bummed that they were out of the yeast rolls and served us Texas Toast instead. The salad is sooo delicious and they have the best tasting salad dressing I've ever eaten. I ordered the small filet cooked medium with a baked potato, steamed veggies, and macaroni and cheese. My husband ordered the same steak with fries. The meat was absolutely delicious, melt in your mouth good. Service was great as well, and ambiance was fun! There is a fun cowboy boot/western wear shop across the restaurant, so while we were waiting for our table, we shopped around there.

Located in Oklahoma City's Stockyard's District, this classic steakhouse has pretty warm vibes albeit an outdated place but comfortable. The greeters are well organized in getting guests seated. It closes at 10pm and we arrived late at 9:20pm and had no problem getting seated, served and was not rushed. On a Thursday night (3/12/26) it was busy at 9:20pm but not a zoo. Service is charming and friendly though they might forget your request but will take care of you if you need to remind them a second time. Food wise, it's good. The meats are decent; the yeast roll was nice and soft; but the iceberg salad was pretty lousy. Come on greens need to be green and veggies need to be cooked and prepared with as much love as everything else. The bar is excellent and if you order a shot of well vodka, they are generous here. I'd come here again but because I've h been to better steakhouses, will give this 3/5.

In the Stockyards, this place has been around for 100+ years. I can almost smell the cattle being driven to the yards. Every type of steak imaginable. We shared the prime ribeye. 14oz and $55. It was delicious and cooked perfectly the way we asked. Lamb fries are a favorite here I guess, but not for us. Casual atmosphere and they are also open for breakfast. Huge crowd on Monday at 6pm. Helena was our excellent server.

    Tammi W.

Stopped here because it's a DDD which means Guy Fieri ate here and it was featured on Food Network. At first, I thought I was underdressed because it looked really fancy. I didn't order steak because we ate too much during the day so I just ordered a grilled ham and cheese, which was pretty good. Also had potato skins which were to die for. Bf tried a burger and it looked delish. Service was average.

With almost 2,000 Yelp reviews, there's not much to say that hasn't already been said. Cattleman's is unique, historic and one of a kind. If you're looking for a high end, classy steakhouse, well, this ain't it. It is casual, very very casual. So just come as you are! However, regardless, we enjoyed our dinner. Food was good, our server was funny and enjoyable. It is quite popular which means it could be busy, go at off times.

The outside of the place isn't impressive. But the food is absolutely impressive - for an old-school steak house.

This place will always get 5 stars from me. Why? Because there's a lot a great things here to enjoy. - steaks: always a good quality steak with a au jus that is out d this world. - homemade house dressing: always excellent. Nice hit of garlic Ana creamy smooth texture. - homemade toast stuff: Great crispy crusty stuff, with a garlic and salted taste....without being too salty. The place has been around forever, because they give people a great meal!

Large fillet, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, hot rolls.

We had the potato skins as an appetizer. They were fantastic cheesy and bacon. Then my wife and I both had the large fillet it was tender and juicy. You could cut it with your fork very flavorful. The price was great. The steak we ate rivals any steak in OKC. The Servis was really good. Our waitress was attentive and super nice. I hear mixed reviews of cattlemen's, but I'm here to tell you this was an outstanding meal.

    Great steaks!
    Kai L.

Bread and salad are mediocre, but the service is good and the steaks are superb. This is a legendary location a block from the Stockyard, a must to show the heart of OKC.

Ask the Community - Cattlemen's Steakhouse

Is it possible to share an entree?

It's is at this place. Some steaks are quite large. Salad is good enough size that comes with. Bake potato is good enough size....but they all the condiments for the potato...and you can get all you want at no charge.

Is prime rib Friday only? I didn't see it on the menu. And if it's Fridays only, is it available for lunch? Thanks.

    Do they take reservations?

No, they do not accept reservations unless you have a group of 15 or more. You have to be put on a waiting list which can be quite lengthy so its best to get there early!

What are the prices of the steaks? Cannot find a menu with prices listed.

Last Thanksgiving a ribeye was $37, and a sirloin was $32.

Do they offer lodging in addition to the restaurant?

    No, just a restaurant

My wife and me are having our 40 th wedding anniversary on June 4 was wondering if I could make a reservation for 2in a quiet corner?

No, although they have good food, they're very loud and NOT romantic at all.

How dressed up does one need to be for dinner here?

Not at all! I’ve gone in shorts before.

I'm traveling as a solo female. Is this the kind of place you can do lunch by yourself on a Saturday and not have it be super awkward?

Yes. Perfectly fine. Very casual and large family friendly place.

I'm a tourist visiting. Anyone brought a bottle of wine here? Or know the cork fee?

They serve wine and you can check their menu. I am not familiar with Oklahoma and local corking rules.

Do they do anything for birthdays?

yes , dessert is on the house, apple pie ala mode for the win,,,woohoo

We walked in to a packed house, which is always a good sign, but were seated immediately. From there, the experience never missed a beat. Beverly took care of us and was outstanding--friendly, attentive, and genuinely engaged. You can tell when someone enjoys what they do, and it shows. We started with margaritas, and when Beverly said they were "perfect," she wasn't overselling it. Smooth, well-balanced, and served ice cold. We're both olive fans, so of course we asked for extras--and they delivered without hesitation. Going in, we made a deal: appetizers or dessert--not both. After hearing about the pineapple upside-down cake with vanilla ice cream, that decision was made pretty quickly. For the main course, Beverly walked us through the menu and the weekly specials: * Rainbow trout with roasted peppers and cucumber salad * 14 oz peppercorn crusted steak with mashed potatoes, broccoli & parmesan I know my wife--steak was the obvious choice for her. I went with the trout. Both dishes were excellent. The trout was cooked perfectly with a light, flavorful sauce that didn't overpower the fish, and the vegetables were fresh and well-prepared. The steak was cooked just right, full of flavor, and paired perfectly with creamy mashed potatoes and broccoli finished with parmesan. What really elevated the night was the hospitality. Kirsten, the manager, stopped by to check on us and took the time to have a genuine conversation. She shared details about patio seating and upcoming live music nights, which we're already planning to come back for. Then came a surprise--she graciously covered our dessert. A classy move that didn't go unnoticed. And that pineapple upside-down cake? Warm, soft, topped with melting vanilla ice cream... absolutely worth skipping the appetizers for. The Bottom Line: Great food, exceptional service, and a relaxed but polished atmosphere right on Lake Hefner. Whether it's your first visit or your tenth, this is the kind of place that makes you want to come back. Highly recommend for a date night or a nice evening out.
