We went to the ranch steakhouse for our anniversary on a Friday night. It was our first time visiting, and we were not disappointed. Our waiter Levi was attentive, helpful and when I asked about certain wines, he said he wasn't very well versed but left and sent Kevin our way! We ended up with the perfect bottle for our dinner. We each for the filets, garlic butter for one and melted fromage with Demi-Glace. Both steaks were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. We chose the braised mushrooms and au gratin potatoes, YUM. Do not listen to the bad reviews!! The food was amazing, we got escargot and some spicy meatballs for appetizers and let me tell you I don't usually cuss but they were pretty fucking amazing. I had the lobster pasta which was delicious and my husband got the bone-in ribeye which he just tore to shreds like an animal. For dessert I got the raspberry chocolate cake and that berry sauce is soo delicious you can tell it's made in house! My husband picked out the vanilla cheesecake he said it was so light and creamy, one of the best cheesecakes we've had. Took wife for 46 wedding anniversary. it was our first time there. I ordered my favorite steak (Ribeye). it was thin and very tough. I do not understand the hype of this place. This was the most boring food I've ever had. For as expensive as it is, there's no dress code or rules for kids. So here we are, dressed so nice for a fancy steak dinner, the table next to us is wearing their best trucker hat and t-shirt and the booth next to us is a bunch of kids on freakin iPads. Why are we paying for nice atmosphere and experience to feel like we're at Chilis? Steak - no seasoning. Potatoes - no seasoning. Asparagus - no season. Even the butter is unsalted. Our waitress was nice but we definitely saw other tables getting better service. I won't ever come back here. I would have had more fun actually setting our money on fire. Our table of six was well cared for by Barton and support staff. We were seated at a table that allowed for easy conversation, even on a busy Saturday night. We choose the escargot and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. The escargot were the better choice and I wouldn't recommend the mushrooms. Strawberry Goat Cheese and Caesar were the salads chosen but I opted for the soup of the day, a chicken with orzo and dill. The dill was undetectable because cracked black pepper obliterated any other flavor. Fortunately I didn't accept the offer of more black pepper. The salads were reported to be delicious so I'd stick with those or the always delicious French Onion Soup, my normal choice. Some entrees come with sides but most don't. There are a wide variety of family style sides. One side will not be large enough for four adults so I'd suggest choosing two. I can't recommend the Green Beans Almandine or the Au Gratin Potatoes. Unfortunately those were the sides selected by others at the table. I had the Beeler's Bone-In Pork Chop. It was listed as 16 ounces and it was all of that and possibly more. It was thick, juicy and flavorful though a bit too salty for me. I had a few bites and took the rest home. My husband enjoyed it the next night for dinner. It's a generous serving. My husband ordered the Beef Medallions. It's one of the entrees that includes sides. The meat was tender and delicious with a wonderful sauce. It was the better choice of our two. His sides included Mashed Potatoes and the Green Beans Almandine. His opinion of the green beans was the same as mine, tasteless and overcooked. The other guests chose Grilled Salmon and the Ribeye. Everyone seemed happy with their meals and left nothing to take home. I've been dining at Ranch for many years but this night was a miss for me. At this price point my expectations are high. My wife and I went here on a special date night before our baby was born and it was a spectacular experience. We made a reservation which isn't required but if you're going on a popular day or time I would recommend. Robby our server was knowledgeable friendly and prompt with his service. We both got the New York strip medium rare and it was seasoned and cooked perfectly with a great crust and taste. I was full off of the steak alone. We also got sides of okra and maple and thyme carrots. The okra was good but my wife was too full from the steak. The carrots were not great in my opinion. I didn't get much maple and thyme and they were basically just whole carrots. I should've gone for the cream corn. But that doesn't detract from the overall experience. I had a specialty old fashioned with maple syrup in it and it was fantastic. To finish things off we got the dulce de leche and boy was it incredible. It was light and decadent, full of flavor. We came to celebrate the hubby's birthday and our anniversary and boy did we pick a perfect place! Make sure you make reservations!! We went in a Friday early dinner and it was definitely already a full restaurant. A really nice beautifully set up place. Super romantic and just a nice place overall. Our server was amazing. The entire waitstaff ensured our drinks were always full and was very receptive of giving us recommendations. As far as food goes, I highly suggest the strip over the sirloin. I wanted something with not much fat, but the strip just had an amazing consistency and was cooked perfect. The calamari was just okay. It wasn't as crispy as I wanted and the flavor was a bit dull. Definitely get the half size of sides especially if it's just two of you. You get to try different sides and the portions were perfect. Dessert was on the house! TWO OF THEM! And that was an amazing way to celebrate together. We didn't expect that and it really just sealed our choice. The Dulce de leche was DIVINE. It's an ice cream cake so if you like that, definitely a great choice. The cheesecake was also super yummy. They make all of their desserts in house which was even more of a plus. The quality of the food does not match other steakhouses of this price. The calamari's breading was soggy and the calamari itself had a weird texture. The shrimp appetizer special has shrimp you'd think came from a cheap bag of frozen tiny mushy shrimp - something I'd expect at Chilis, and certainly not what you'd get at a Capital Grille. As for the steaks, even if an employee hadn't told me the oven temperature, I would have known as soon as I saw my steak that their ovens aren't nearly as hot as real steakhouses. Oh my goodness!!! That was the most perfectly seasoned steak I have Ever had at a steakhouse. Wow! I ordered it medium rare and I got a little nervous I ordered it too rare for my liking, but NO. It was perfection. Wow. Absolutely mouth watering. I got a side of fried okra and they were fried so perfectly and seasoned well as well. My husband got the maple and thyme carrots and they were extremely plain. Could not taste the thyme or the maple. Not a fan of those. We ordered the dulce de leche dessert. It was very delicious and light. Our waiter was very kind and informational. My only complaint was I had to ask for tea refills instead of them just doing it. They did refill my water frequently. It's not that Ranch Steakhouse is bad, it's just that it's not a consistent steakhouse. In fact, it was the best steakhouse for me at one point but for the past few years it has not live up to my expectations, especially the most recent visit. I took a friend to Ranch Steakhouse for his belated birthday on 6/23/24. We ordered both of the daily specials, 35 days dry aged ribeye for $100 and 8 oz of wagyu filet for $240. The ribeye came out ZIZZLING hot on the plate. The middle of the steak initially had a slight pink but it self cooked to become well done very quickly. This was so far off from medium rare that I couldn't eat it. I had to trade it for my friend's wagyu filet which came out medium rare. We should have returned the ribeye because the cooking was the most off I have seen at a steakhouse. It was overcooked that some parts of the ribeye were burnt, crunchy, and salty. The worst part of all, we spent $484 plus the additional 20% tip for a pretty AVERAGE dinner. I expect exceptional steaks cooked to perfection, not overcooked steaks when spending that amount of money. Luckily, the bread was still as amazing as before. The same could be said about the rock shrimp. The drinks were great and the dessert was good. Asparagus spears were tiny. Don't know why they couldn't get bigger asparagus. Day 2 at the money grab complete! This place was recommended to me by one of my better clients who's attending the money grab, he knows the Dirty South like the back of his hand! As a we arrived there was a nice young man waiting at the valet, he gladly took my 1982 silverado that we drove down from STRONG ISLAND. The milage isn't that high at all standing at a mere 425k! When we sat down every phone started buzzing in the vicinity! I thought we were getting bombed! Turns out there's a man on the run from the cops who might be in the area :o . He has a 25k reward so i will be looking around the city with some of the age outs I hired at the money grab. We have been going to The Ranch, ever since it opened and it has always been an incredible dining experience. Our waitress (Rachael) was outstanding. In fact she was perfect. The special last night was the porterhouse steak and my wife and I decided to slit it. The cost was $129.00 and we expected to see a wonder, thick juicy piece of meat. When dinner arrived at our table, we were shocked to see 1/4 inch, scrawny t-bone that I could purchase at discount grocery store. It was truly pathetic, for the special, and when the manager came over to our table, he said it was in fact a porterhouse. He offered to make us another, but we declined, since he was emphatic that it was what we ordered. For a premiere steakhouse, this was extremely disappointing and we have made the decision not to return. For the kind of money they charge for dinner, they should focus on quality. My husband and I dined here for the first time and had a great experience. The food was amazing. My favorite was the featured surf and turf - the steak was cooked to perfection and the lobster was a delicious pairing. They also had an extensive wine menu with our favorite wine so that was another huge plus. We started with a bottle of wine: Bella Glos Pinot Noir it's one we enjoy. Started off with crab crakes and they were yummy! I brought my parents to celebrate their 35th anniversary, but our experience was disappointing. Typically most servers ask if you are celebrating anything at a nice place however ours didn't. How about communicating that to us? Still no mains but she came back later saying it's coming but your ticket was after a big party in the back (excuse #2) and it's coming. Overall, communication with customers was that there was an issue rather than waiting for your table to ask wtf multiple times goes a long way in mitigating issues. The waitress stood behind us to take our order and our view was a big screen tv on the wall our table was butted up to. The staff should have recognized she didn't need alcohol but DIDN'T. We then asked if we get moved inside where it was warmer and quieter, considering the order that we placed was well over $200 for 2 people we did not want to feel like we were in a local bar. We were moved inside and then advised that they were bringing the drunk party crowd into the bar where they seated us to remove us from this red neck party. We did appreciate them, letting us know but at that time we advised them we would pay for our drinks and leave. I've visited lots of steakhouses all over the US and never seen this level of terrible service. The prices do not at all match the service if you're looking for fine dining or even a romantic night out this is definitely not it! The situation was very sloppily handled. This was brought to the managers attention & she didn't care other than "trying to fit us in another area". Previously in the conversation for top steakhouse in OKC this was my go to for big events year after year. No longer. The service has noticeably slipped from helpful to aloof and inattentive and the food quality is now mediocre. Last visit, I was served a steak that was served a steak that was unfit for human consumption. This was refunded but obviously it wrecks the dining experience for everyone present. When we pay over $100 a head, I expect it to be perfect or near perfect every time. There is no way this piece of meat should ever have hot the grill and I'm not certain what chef was thinking. Waiter was unapologetic and cold about my concern making me wonder how much this happens nowadays. Afterward it made me reflect on the experience and compare to other places and it hit me. The Ranch is no longer a top tier steakhouse. It's better than Outback but then again, I've never been served dog meat at Outback. It is very expensive and just isn't making the grade anymore. We got two ribeyes and a filet. I got the crab oscar on one of the ribeyes and it was a little disappointing. It was pretty bland and kind of a non-factor. I've ordered it at other places and had my hair blown back, so not entirely sure what the issue was. The standard garlic butter that was on the other ribeye is what I should have gotten. The service was good. Our lady was fun and friendly. The apps were pretty good value, very reasonable. The real cost is the mains and alcohol, which is expected, so it's appreciated that the peripheral items don't put too much additional strain on your wallet. Dress code - Bro, this part is ridiculous. They either need to enforce it or get rid of it. We saw the dress code was business casual, so we all dressed up. Then when we got there, 80% of the dudes were dressed like frat boys, straight up polos, pastel khaki shorts, and sandals. I get that it's awkward to have that conversation with paying customers, but then just get rid of the dress code, so we don't show up looking like "the help" while Thad and Trey are one booth over eating fancy steaks with their leg hair out.
