I ordered my steak rare, and they absolutely nailed it -- warm on the outside, cool in the center, and it cut like perfection. Hands down one of the best steaks I've had. The thing I'll rave the most about is the crab cake! It was perfect. You have to try it! The fried pickles and fried mushrooms were delicious, and the sauce served with the pickles was especially good. I also tried the soup of the day, a creamy chowder, which was excellent. The food was outstanding--especially the crab cake on the steak and cake, which had a wonderful lemony sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The only drawback was that the lobster on the lobster tower was a bit tough, but the shrimp, crab legs, and oysters were all excellent. I'd order everything again exactly the same. My husband and son split the Japanese Wagyu Carving Board and absolutely loved both the Wagyu and the Angus. They also raved about the lobster mac and cheese. The banana pudding cake was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed on a Wednesday night at 5:30 PM, and the bar--attached but still separate--was lively without affecting the dining room. This is one of those places where you have to pick and choose when you go. My experience with these premier restaurants is that they always have a superior staff. This place did not disappoint. When in the Dirty South! Came to the good city (OKC) to visit one of the better money grabs, and I found my self to this steak house. Right across the street there's a minor league baseball stadium which reminds me of my days in the FED (FPHL)! The FPHL and AAA baseball are both the peak of minor league in their respective sports (Although baseball is soft). The food here was damn good, And the service was even better. I ordered the french onion soup, the NY Strip RARE (Anything above it is for pansy's). Aswell as ordering all the sides on the menu and multiple loaves of bread safe to say i ain't a lug. From the bar I ordered 3 manhattans to start followed by a Long Island Iced tea to bring out my roots of the non greasy town of Massapequa! For dessert I had the cheese cake which was too cakey with not enough cheese. The secret to a happy marriage is date night (okay, one of the secrets!), and we spent our date night at Mickey Mantle's. This is one of our regular steak spots in OKC, and it has been 80% hit and 20% miss over the years--after a slow start this night turned out to be another hit. We arrived 20 min early for our reservation and the host offered to see us to our table--maybe a bad idea because the servers were not ready for us, we should have waited at the bar with a drink instead of at our table without. We were seated in a side room we hadn't been in before, with a view of ... the bathroom. Could have been better. Our waitress Karina brought our drinks (a fantastic and reasonably priced Cabernet and an 18-year Glenlivet--the scotch selection is excellent) and our crab cake appetizer, a tower of delicate crabmeat on a lemony sauce. Next we had French onion soup and Mickeys chopped salad. The soup was stuffed with bread and onions, topped with cheese and the salad was fresh and crisp, served on a cold plate. For entrees we chose the steak--a perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth tender filet and a perfectly cooked ribeye. Our sides of fried okra and August gratin potatoes were also hot and delicious. Inside, there's a lot a sports memorabilia, dark woods and relatively low lighting. By the time we left it was almost full and pretty loud, but still a great atmosphere. I had the 7 oz. Roquefort filet medium rare with a house salad and tomato basil soup. The ranch dressing tasted great, the tomato basil milder than I'm used to but with a lot of flavor, and the steak was cooked perfectly and on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes. Decided to dine here based on a recommendation from a friend. We had a lovely evening, the service was friendly and warm and it was a great start to our visit in Oklahoma City. We skipped the appetizers since we weren't too hungry and started with the blue cheese wedge and the soup of the day, which was a beef stew. The salad was delicious and not overdressed and the soup was excellent as well as a touch spicy which was unexpected but it worked. The steaks (a NY strip and a filet) were good and well prepared, but not outstanding. Comparing to other steakhouse I've been to, it was average which is why the 3 star rating. We were really looking forward to this evening, but it started off on the wrong foot as the non smiling hostess sat us in what we thought was the worst table possible; facing the kitchen and the bathrooms, when the rest of the restaurant was pretty empty. If we had been walk-ins or the restaurant full, I get it. But we had reservations, and I don't understand why we got such a crappy table to start and to their credit, they were quickly willing to change when we asked. After that hiccup, things were fantastic. Our serving team of Isaac and Ally were excellent. They were perfectly attentive, and let us set the pace. We really enjoyed their personalities. They were definitely 5 star service. Cocktails and wine were very good and I thought for the most part reasonably priced. The Hendricks Martini at $22 seems excessive but everything else was more reasonable than expected. We really enjoyed the Malbec by the glass and the Quilt Chardonnay. We started with the shrimp cocktail. Good cocktail sauce, but the shrimp were a little tough and overcooked. Next were the dinner salads. Their homemade garlic dressing is beyond fantastic. No one should skip or upgrade the salad! We both had the Roquefort fillets (7 and 10 oz). They were exceptional and perfectly cooked medium rare. We had that with macaroni and cheese, sautéed spinach, and mashed potatoes. The sautéed spinach was perfection and so delicious. My wife loved the mashed potatoes. The macaroni and cheese has fried onions on top, which actually are an important component because of how sharp the cheese is in the mac & cheese. When combined it makes the mac & cheese very good. The mac & cheese by itself without the fried onions was way too sharp for me though. For dessert we had the German chocolate cake. Ally did us a favor by finding two pieces that were left because it was no longer on the menu. So glad she did. The cake was very good but for German chocolate cake, was a bit too chocolatey for me. The chocolate overpowered the taste of the caramel coconut icing, which should be the reverse flavor. A typical fine steakhouse ambience with lots of pictures of Mickey Mantle and baseball images on the walls. We really found it to be a nice setting once we got a decent table. Our oldest daughter got my wife a gift card and the reservation for her birthday. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our waitress Kristie was outstanding and her recommendations were spot on!! I recently went as part of a work dinner and was very disappointed. The steak was not seasoned at all and there was only pepper on the table so I couldn't even add salt. Everyone at the table agreed that the steak was bad and that Texas Roadhouse would've been better for half the price. We asked for more bread and were given a rude reaction from the waiter explaining that he already put bread on the table. Another member of our party asked for a drink while the waiter was taking our order and said "so you want me to stop what I'm doing and go get your drink?" In a very rude tone. Decided to stop in and try out Mickey Mantle's after an early matinee movie down the street. It was an early evening, and as usual we sat at the bar. As others have mentioned, this is a fairly dimly lit establishment with a lot of dark wood. Very classy looking place - and the type of restaurant I like personally. There were 2 bartenders on duty and 1 came over quickly, gave us menus and took our drink order. The cocktails were made perfectly. The bartenders were also super friendly and talkative. Very courteous. We ordered another round of drinks and an appetizer. The app was super delicious. For dinner, my wife asked about the seafood tower (cold), and our server told us that she could order for it for 1 person. GREAT! That was her meal. I ordered a smoked Ribeye as shown in the pics. It came out perfectly prepared. Along with a huge portion of potatoes (plus dinner salad), it was more than I could finish. The place is definitely more on the $$$$ side, but you get what you pay for. Service, cleanliness, food quality and atmosphere were all top notch. Well, Mickey Mantel's dining room is a bit out of our price range, unless we want sautéed mushrooms for dinner, haha, but their bar experience is affordable and a great Bricktown dinner option. We were dining out before a Thunder basketball game, no reservation, but lucky enough to nab a couple of spots at the bar. Their food is legit bar food. I learned each patron must be able to secure a seat at the bar, no standing allowed, before they are served. We each ordered a happy hour house margarita, along with happy hour offerings of lamb medallions and fried mushrooms. Everything was delicious. We made friends at the bar after we ordered. We learned our new bar friends had traveled from a little town outside of OKC to come and have their lobster cargot fix (not a happy hour offering). They shared they come once every couple of months to order this dish, apparently it's super craveable. It's a lobster in a cream sauce served with bread for dipping--YUM. Next time I return, I'll be sure to order the lobster cargot. If you come on Thunder game nights you can ride their free van to and from the game (tips appreciated). Valet service is $10-cash only, prepay. The biggest downside, for which one star was removed, is that the bar area allows smoking. I hate eating in smoking areas. Unfortunately there were multiple smokers there when we were dining and no other options to move elsewhere.
