Stopped by CAVA for a light lunch and to try their new Cinnamon Sugar Pita Chips. I ordered a kids falafel pita and the chips to hold me over until dinner. When I first got the chips, it was room temperature and let's be honest, these are definitely best when warm. I asked if I could wait for a fresh batch, and although there was a little hesitation at first, the cook didn't seem to mind. Representing 2022 for alphabet series is C is CAVA. Been to this CAVA as part of Montgomery Mall food court many times over the years. This is my most common food court option as it's good quality at a good price. The mall food court has other decent options, but this & another are my 2 favorites but this is a better value. I like this food court option has separate seating (normal CAVA style seating) away from the food court. I tend get grain & greens bowl with chicken, but sometimes just grains. You get 3 toppings; I get hummus, eggplant, & tzatziki and whatever various veggies you want too. The time I went in January 2022 was a 3rd & final date. We didn't have a ton of connection. So delicious. CAVA is my favorite place to grab food after I'm done shopping at Montgomery mall. The seating is plentiful and comfortable and the employees are always very kind and greet you warmly. The food itself is so delicious. I personally love the Greek salad, but last time I ordered a pita wrap with chicken, feta, tzatziki, tomatoes, and cucumbers, and it was so delicious. Enjoyed a nice meal at Cava on Democracy Blvd. We were in the mall's food court for lunch. I had falafel and loved it. I tasted my husband's spicy lamb and it was great but too spicy for me. I've been several different Cavas, and I like that this one is located in the mall. It's nice to have multiple options when eating out with a group of people. The mall food court is nice, but it can get very crowded and loud. When I went it wasn't too bad but. They have this cotton candy machine and my oh my that thing is so loudddd. And it just. Does. Not. Stop. That being said, clever tactics since it shuts up when you interact with it. I didn't succumb to its trickery but those songs are stuck in my head. Anyway. I went to get a bowl. The place was not too crowded. The staff making the bowl was completely distracted and in a rush. I had to repeat the toppings and dressings multiple times. I wanted to add cucumbers as well but the staff member the passed on the order to serve the next person. At the billing counter I had to ask for the pita bread which comes by default with the bowl. At a little over two dollars they are completely worth it, has definitely grown on me since moving to the area and I have gone at least once a week for this past month. This Cava has been the best Cava i have ever been to in my life. I've gone to several different cavas, in the south, up north and even within my own state. The cava at montgomery mall is ALWAYS clean. the people who work there are extremely kind and have never showed rudeness or anger. they are wonderful human beings. additionally the food is great every single time. i've been going to this cava for several years. i've enjoyed it in highschool and have continued to enjoy it even in college now. I have been to full service location and other cafe style location. I loved my experience there but not so much here. This location is in the Montgomery Mall food court. I visited here in the late afternoon, not busy. There was only one person behind me. The person helping was rushing me and can't be bother by when I was asking what certain things were. He would just point to the glass shield which had the names but very hard to read and said, "it's there." The food was decent but the service just colored my whole experience. So you enter this location from the Montgomery Mall food court, grab a menu (there are little pockets in the wall) and decide on what you want to eat. It is set up like Chipotle or ShopHouse Kitchen style as far as ordering. First you start with your base - Rice, Pita, Salad, then you add some Dip or Spread to it - Tzatziki, Hummus or Crazy Feta to name a few. Need some Protein - Chicken, Grilled Meatballs, Braised Lamb or Beef (there are others), add some toppings and there are several to choose from like tomato + cucumber, fresh mint, shredded romaine, then you add your dressing like Greek Vinaigrette or Yogurt Dill to name a few and voila, you have a meal. You can add to it by getting one of their juices or teas - Fresh Lemonade Apple Cider, Honey Basil Green Tea, Black Tea, Blackberry Sage Juice or Cucumber Mint Lime Juice - get a cup and try all - you will end up with favorites. They also offer fountain sodas (Maine Root - that's a brand of the sodas). I had something similar to what I had from my first visit - Rice Bowl (Saffron Basmati Rice) with Tzatziki spread, Grilled Meatballs (seems to burnt here too), Braised Lamb, Tomato + Cucumber and Crumbled Feta toppings and I forgot to add the dressing (I could taste that something was missing). Anyways, there are a few things I learned on this visit: ** The place serves both Mediterranean and Greek Food ** If you order 2 proteins or more, they charge for each meat. If you only order 1 of these proteins (Chicken, Falafel, or Grilled Meatballs), then it is included in the "Build it" price and is not going to be extra (I am still trying to understand this one even after a staff member explained it to me) **The Cucumber Mint Lime Juice is so delicious. Cava is a great fast food joint inside the mall food court. Seating inside the designated cava area is limited so depending on the time and day you are at the mall, you may have to sit in the open food court area to eat. The food is very tasty and a more all natural option compared to the other food court options. Their food is reasonably priced as well. The female employee behind food counter, sees an empty tray of dried old lettuce and even after our request for the new tray sitting above filled with fresh new lettuce ...she blatantly ignores and picks the old rotted lettuce below. After seeing the lettuce. We return to have her remake the bowl again. What is wrong with the cava servers at this location? They seem really detached from reality, careless and rude. Some people should not be in food services. The food trays were dirty also. Close this location down if it's going to ruin the brand in general. We watched her give this rotten bad lettuce to 5 people after us also. Disgusting. Also this was a $12 bowl? Empty with no meat or falafel. We were overcharged. Of the fast casual make-your-own Mediterranean food in the DC metro, Cava, Roti and Pita Pouch, it is a 3-way tie (at least in my opinion). They all taste delicious and fresh. Cava has the most selection on offer, especially protein and hummus dips/scoops. Pita pouch has the least selection but the pita bread from Pita pouch takes the award for the most appetizing. It is where you pick your protein, type of rice, salad, and sauces. For my order, I ordered the grain bowl, which i got with braised pork. My vegetables were lettuce, purple onions, quinoa, baby tomatoes. It was topped off with crazy feta and eggplant + red roasted pepper dip. The braised pork was great, the pork was tender and melted in your mouth, my vegetable choices solid, i didnt particularly like the feta sauce, but the pepper dip was really good. I love the salad that I got here. It would get 5 stars except that I find the process somehow more complex than say Chipotle. Why? Because nothing is clearly labelled, the ppl dishing out the food had heavy accents plus the noise of the food court made it so I wasn't sure what I was ordering.
