Staff: The staff was really nice and welcoming. Service: Fast service -- I didn't have to wait long. Food: I usually get the rice with lentils, one scoop of the white sauce (not sure of the name ), cucumber, cucumber & tomato salad, cheese, chips, and I love the pita chips. I also get the yogurt drizzle on top as the finisher. Everything tastes fresh and the flavors go really well together. Drink: For my drink I get the lemonade with a splash of the blueberry lavender -- definitely recommend trying it. Ambiance: The only thing I'd say is the ambiance was a little lacking. This is a review based on the Cava app: I submitted an order through the CAVA app and did not get all the items I selected for my bowl. Based on the receipt, I was missing 4 other toppings. I paid to add extra toppings and ended up receiving less. Due to the lack of in person interaction and customer service, I will refrain from using the app in the future and just go inside the restaurant to order instead. read more

Used to go here regularly especially mid week when I don't want to deal with weeknight cooking. Staff used to be so nice. Now, however, there are new (summer?) staff members who are just flat out rude. This is especially true of the guy who handles the toppings. Seen him a few times, and he just looks miserable and rolls his eyes at customers when they're listing the items them want. Such inconvenience to him somehow. Really, dude, get another job if you're that miserable and don't flat out roll your eyes at people. I usually don't write reviews about bad service if the food is good, but the service is so bad here now AND you are not getting what you pay for as a result. I used to like it more. Lebanese and/or Mediterranean food is healthy. If you're in the area it could work for you. Yet value wise it can't keep up with Mezeh. It's a night and day difference. Yes you can get healthy bowls with vegetables here, but I am not as impressed as I used to be. The ingredients are decent quality, but again they've been surpassed. I do want to say thank you to the employees. Very nice men and women working here. You'll definitely have good service. Decent tables and seating as well. Fairly comfortable and relaxing. The food is pretty decent in here if Mediterranean cuisine is your kinda thing; a word of warning if you come late at night, they may not have what you want or the grilled chicken may be a little burnt (the only reason this place is 4 stars in my opinion, as it's been burnt on several occasions - doesn't stop me from coming back though!) I had to break away from the office today for a lunch. I admit I have never been to Cava. I tend to not go to places that are overly busy for lunch. Since I try to mostly eat a low carb diet, I don't like to hold up the line asking questions about what is this is and what is that. I honestly do love carbs but my hips do not. And ain't nobody got time for that. I asked the Gentleman behind the counter if he could help me figure out what to get. Alejandro was very helpful and suggested a Romaine and Spinach salad mix. Yesssssss CAVA got the win!!! My first time at this location and let's just say I was impressed!!! Meatless Monday's require a Mediterranean fix, if you will! I was greeted immediately as soon as I walked in. Making my bowl was super easy!!! I like that they asked me if I wanted the pita on the side instead of my having to ask for it!!! The ingredients were all so fresh and so vibrant, I love a colorful bowl!! I always gets a light drizzle of the Greek vinaigrette and a dab of that lemony oil concoction that's by the silverware. Made it through the line in no time flat and checkout was speedy!!! Everyone was so upbeat and friendly, I like that! I'm an early bird at lunch time so it was not crowded at all and the ingredient bar was super clean!! Plus plus!!! in the battle of the "fast casual" Mediterranean restaurants, I prefer Mezeh over CAVA. I had occasion to visit this CAVA location as part of the recent "check in to check out" YELP event this past Monday. I've been to the CAVA in DC before and my impressions haven't changed over the years. Generally I find the staff to be skimpy with the toppings, the meats to be "meh". Impressions of the decor tend toward the modern, with homages to a "Chipolte-esque" feel and color schemes. When I dined at Mezeh last week, they had a great selection of fresh veggies included big slices of roasted eggplants. The staff at Mezeh were also generous with the toppings and didn't even blink an eye when I asked for additional scoops of olives, roasted hummus, or Israeli couscous. I ordered the grains and greens bowl along with the meatballs. While the bowl was large, the amount of food that wound up inside, was small by comparison. The server who helped me gladly piled on the brown rice and greens, but was sparing with everything else except the hummus and "crazy feta," and Harrisa sauce. The spoons they use to add the toppings are akin to the size of baby spoons. Seriously, the next time you walk in, examine the spoons they use and you'll also come the realization that they look like they belong in a jar of Gerber's mushed peas. I also got a bit of a "reaction," when I asked one of the staff if I could get an extra scoop of olives and cucumbers. The meatballs were not amazing, but also not terrible. The first couple of bites were tender and juicy, but towards the center, the ground meat was dry and flavorless. The staff were friendly and efficient, so they get a star for that. If I had paid the approximately $10 for my bowl, I would DEFINITELY been hungry afterwards. Otherwise, if I'm in the mood for this type of cuisine, I'll probably head to Mezeh which I find to be a better value for the money and serves tastier versions of Mediterranean fare. read more

After a while of not coming here, I came back for the Yelp Elite Event "Check In to Check Out". Again, not impressed with their customer service. The employees look miserable and even bring my mood down. I came here around 3:30pm and the young lady helping us was very unpleasant. We had to ask for the complimentary pita bread 4 times. It was evident that she wanted to be anywhere else but here. The place was empty except for 2 tables. We love this type of food, and even though this is the closest cava I don't like to come here. I really hope that the service improves because we would be regulars...maybe even dailys. One thing I love is their drink selection. read more

Cava is pretty good. Lots of interesting flavors in a bowl. I had meatballs here which were extremely tasty. If you want to know the difference between Cava and Mezzeh, here's by best stab at it. Cava is pretty fancy. Their seating is great. Their chairs much more comfortable. The style of the decor is much more slick. The food is similar, although Mezzeh gives a giant bowl in which you are not going to eat it all. Cava is a bit more stingy with their portions. Also, Cava seams a bit more environmentally conscientious, which on paper is good. However, using cardboard straws sounds like a good saving the earth kind of thing, but you stay a bit longer than you should and you're left sucking moist paper that is disintegrating in your mouth.. not fun. Definitely worth it, but if the Cava and Mezzeh were next to eachother, I think I'd pick Mezzeh. read more

I have to admit that Cava has become a mainstay of my diet since moving to the DMV. If a week goes by without a bowl, there is something going wrong and I get antsy and plan immediately to remedy that void. Cava is a great place for a quick, but substantial bowl meal. They have a Mediterranean flair to their food and you can eat in or dine out, but you order at the front. The bases are a choice of grains (rice, lentils) or greens (lettuce, mixes of brussel sprouts, lettuces, etc) or both; dips like hummus, "crazy" feta, harissa, tzatziki; proteins like lamb, chicken, beef, or veggies and falafel; then your toppings such as pickled cabbage, onions, tomatoes, feta, cucumber, hot peppers, olives, quinoa, mint, lemon; and finally dressings like lemon herb tahini, garlic, among others. When I go I end up getting a pretty hearty bowl with lots of toppings. I love their braised lamb, honey harissa chicken, and falafel. The staff at this location is pretty great, as well! I've always had friendly interactions with them and they are very patient when I ask questions. Finally, if you order a drink, I suggest their different iced teas! I have been eating here ever since they put this place into the shopping centre a few years ago. My friends and I love coming here because the service is always nice no matter the time of day (please don't come at closing though, give them a break). The food is always tasty, fresh, and consistent. I love getting this because it feels healthier and tastes amazing. There are outside tables to sit at on nice days, and tons of indoor tables. Love the modern wood and metal themed interior. They offer several seating options from tables, to booths to low bar top (handicap accessible). This is a "chipotle/subway style" restaurant where you build your own bowl/salad/pita pocket. Compared to their competitor, Mezeh, they offer fewer toppings and have some up-charges for certain add-ons. I wanted to get falafel and grilled veggies and it was an extra charge. So that was a bummer. Overall I received good customer service and was impressed with the cleanliness of this location. My bowl was delicious and I enjoyed trying some new toppings like their black lentils and spicy humus (tread lightly, it only has a one pepper spice rating, but that thing was kickin'). I love that they use earth friendly bowls and utensils made of plant based resources. We LOVE a business that's tryin not to wreck the earth. read more

I have spent my fair share of time in Burke, but I honestly didn't know about this shopping center, so I'm glad Yelp alerted me that Cava was located here! Service was great - I went during a weekday lunch hour but was lucky enough to be the only one in line so I got in and out in 5 minutes. As for the bowl itself, everything was fresh and delicious. I also have to give Cava credit for being able to offer a bunch of food options, and still have them all work together. I usually order a little of everything but it still manages to taste good mixed together! And even though I steered away from the carb options, it was still a filling meal. :) My only desire is that Cava's signage at all Cava locations would be a bit clearer for first timers. There are signs identifying the options, but they don't say how many you can pick of each item. For example, how is a person supposed to know they get 3 scoops of dip? read more

The first time someone took me to Cava in 2010 I loved it. I instantly became a regular. Over the years menu changes kept coming that have lessened the appeal. Years ago they stopped providing their siracha dressing, WHICH WAS THE BEST PART. A huge loss, but the rest was still good enough to keep me coming back. Another bad decision was the transition to paper straws. Who knows what happens to paper when it gets wet? My kids knew when they were 3 years old. Putting those in-restaurant is just plain stupid. It had an easy solution though, I stopped buying drinks which I admit I missed until I found the blueberry soda online and other restaurants have similar juice-like drinks which has fulfilled that desire. I also noticed how much they started to skimp on filling the bowl. The rice and lentil spoons are shaken so a lot falls off before it goes into the bowl; a new development in the last year. The dips are now flattened off, also a newer development in the last year. I have to ask for extra of everything today (tomatoes, cabbage, corn, etc.), when two years ago I wouldn't ever have to ask for extra. Just a slowly churning, self-inflicted downward spiral. Now on my last visit, and it will be my last, I was told they no longer carry beef meatballs and replaced them with sweet potatoes. That, for me, is a dealbreaker. That's the only option on the menu my spouse, my kids and I like. We've tried all the others and when it comes to Cava it's beef meatballs or nothing. This last time we ordered chicken because I felt bad tossing out several bowls already full of greens, grains and sauces. A week ago a different cava location still had meatballs making me think it's a store-specific decision? I'll try another location, but if they don't have meatballs I'm walking out. I'm not done yet... Then after giving me a paper bag this cheap-ass location charged me a "bag fee". The bag tax in the area applies to plastic bags, not paper. I refuse to support nonsensical up charges and fees for no reason (think credit card fees, bank fees, random charges on phone/internet bills, etc.). It's dishonest as it's a charge tacked on to the end of a bill that's not disclosed upfront. I've cut ties from ALL businesses implementing these types of practices. If you need more money, increase prices by 5 cents...but no, they'd rather steal it on a back-end fee. The other location gave me one without charging a bag fee a few days ago. I'm debating whether or not to return, but if I do I will walk out if no meatballs and never return if they charge or try to charge me a bag fee. You can have your 5 cents, but another restaurant will get all my future patronage. read more
