The first time someone took me to Cava in 2010 I loved it. I instantly became a regular. Over the years menu changes kept coming that have lessened the appeal. Years ago they stopped providing their siracha dressing, WHICH WAS THE BEST PART. A huge loss, but the rest was still good enough to keep me coming back. Another bad decision was the transition to paper straws. Who knows what happens to paper when it gets wet? My kids knew when they were 3 years old. Putting those in-restaurant is just plain stupid. It had an easy solution though, I stopped buying drinks which I admit I missed until I found the blueberry soda online and other restaurants have similar juice-like drinks which has fulfilled that desire. I also noticed how much they started to skimp on filling the bowl. The rice and lentil spoons are shaken so a lot falls off before it goes into the bowl; a new development in the last year. The dips are now flattened off, also a newer development in the last year. I have to ask for extra of everything today (tomatoes, cabbage, corn, etc.), when two years ago I wouldn't ever have to ask for extra. Just a slowly churning, self-inflicted downward spiral. Now on my last visit, and it will be my last, I was told they no longer carry beef meatballs and replaced them with sweet potatoes. That, for me, is a dealbreaker. That's the only option on the menu my spouse, my kids and I like. We've tried all the others and when it comes to Cava it's beef meatballs or nothing. This last time we ordered chicken because I felt bad tossing out several bowls already full of greens, grains and sauces. A week ago a different cava location still had meatballs making me think it's a store-specific decision? I'll try another location, but if they don't have meatballs I'm walking out. I'm not done yet... Then after giving me a paper bag this cheap-ass location charged me a "bag fee". The bag tax in the area applies to plastic bags, not paper. I refuse to support nonsensical up charges and fees for no reason (think credit card fees, bank fees, random charges on phone/internet bills, etc.). It's dishonest as it's a charge tacked on to the end of a bill that's not disclosed upfront. I've cut ties from ALL businesses implementing these types of practices. If you need more money, increase prices by 5 cents...but no, they'd rather steal it on a back-end fee. The other location gave me one without charging a bag fee a few days ago. I'm debating whether or not to return, but if I do I will walk out if no meatballs and never return if they charge or try to charge me a bag fee. You can have your 5 cents, but another restaurant will get all my future patronage. read more

I went there the first time the other day for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. I had the grain bowl with chicken and it was excellent. I like that you can build your lunch with what you like and the ingredients are right in front of you and are fresh. Whether you like protein, salad or grains, they have it covered and you can mix and match to your taste. The service is good. The staff was very helpful in walking me through how to build my bowl. I would definitely recommend going there if you want good food, with quick friendly service. read more

So glad to try this place the first time! I came during rush hour, but was impressed with how empty this place was and how their customer service was highly on point. First and foremost I walked in and was greeted and immediately asked if I was ready to order. I appreciate that they don't take no hassle let's just get your order and go kind of mentality which is what I love to see. The food itself here is very fresh, maybe even better than the other Cava locations I have tried! They also were patient with my order and I was happy that they kept asking me if I needed anything else, rather than rush me to finish my order. They also give you the option to have your sauce on the side (if I wanted a second you would have to pay extra). I really had a great experience here. It was nice and clean inside, and the seating seemed rather cozy near their front window. Overall I'll definitely be back, this was my first time, but if I need to make a CAVA run this will be my spot in Burke! Took only 5 minutes or so to make my order and head out! read more

I could have swore I posted a review for this Cava months ago...however it recently showed up in my Yelp that I hadn't...so here we are. I'm not entirely sure what all these other people are raving about...maybe this place has changed since I came here last? Let me start off by saying how much I love Cava, their food and service...this one however completely misses the mark in my book. We came here one day, a few weeks after they had opened, and we figured the line would have died down. Parking in this shopping center can be hit or miss, we were lucky and found a spot right away. It's set-up is just like any other Cava but that's about where the similarities end. The employees were there...and that's about it. They weren't friendly, informative or helpful...there were a few people in front of us who had never been and weren't sure how to order/what to do and instead of the employees helping and offering suggestions they just sat behind the counter and rolled their eyes. Are you serious? These people are paying customers, my wife and I jumped in and walked them through the ordering process, and even told them what some of our favorites were. This location (at the time) did not have the seasonal veggies (which is my wife's favorite) so that was disappointing and the chicken I had was really cold. :( All in all....don't waste your time or money on this Cava, or if you had a bad experience and this was your first Cava, go to another one....our favorite is the one in Fairfax near the new Earth Fare. read more

So glad that CAVA has come to Burke! It's been fascinating to see this local chain grow and grow and grow over the past few years, and especially as Burke was definitely in need of more varied lunch and fast-dinner options, I'm personally ecstatic that we've got their delicious Mediterranean goodness here. My usual order is a grain bowl with falafel, tzatziki, crazy feta, and hummus or baba ganoush, then LOAD ON THE VEGGIES. The pickled onions are amaaaazing, the tomato salad is always fresh and zesty, and I'm a big fan of the tahini and yogurt dressings. I usually end up with two meals out of a single bowl because they're packed with so much flavor! The behind-the-counter service is always friendly but a little bit slow depending on when you come (ironically, it was slowest when I was the only person there to order, lol.) Also the soda machine syrup was tapped out last time I went, but other than that, the food quality seems to be pretty much the CAVA gold standard. Glad they're here! read more

I am in love. CAVA, where have you been all my life? Everything I have tried has been lovely. The food is fresh and vibrant. I especially love the greens and grain; super greens with lentils. You have a choice of greens and grain bowl, grain bowl, salad, pita, mini pitas, mini pita and soup, or a kid's meal. You build your own meal. They have fantastic choices ta add as you move along the line. The first thing you can add is a dip or spread. There isn't a dip or spread I haven't loved. The harissa has a good kick to it. The eggplant and red pepper dip is amazing. Next on the line are the proteins. I tried all the proteins save one; the falafel. I enjoyed them all. The roast vegetables were nice, especially if you are in the mood for a meatless meal. The only thing I haven't tried is the falafel. I plan to try that on my next visit there. The wide selection of toppings make it hard not to put them all in your bowl. Pickled onions add such a great zip to any bowl. The dressings are equally wonderful. The lemon herb tahini is one of my favorites. Yogurt dill is another fabulous dressing. You can add a pita to your meal. I usually do. It is nice to have one to scoop up all the fresh and fabulous goodness. I have to mention the beverages. The juice combinations are so refreshing! Do try one if you get a chance. The service is fast and pleasant. If you are going out for "fast" food, consider CAVA. It is fresh, fabulous, food delivered fast. read more

I love CAVA and this location is one of my favorite ones just cause... 1. Plenty of parking spaces 2. Not packed like the other locations + very spacious and open 3. Love that they have reusable bowls for people that want to dine in - giving it a more sit down feel If you haven't had CAVA before I recommend trying with this location! The concept is similar to Chipotle's where you can make your own meal. I liked that the ingredients are fresh and they give you plenty in terms of portion. I also love the juices they make. I was glad to see that this location is now open. Because it is located near me, I was eager for it to open. It was typical of other Cava locations and exactly what I expected. You order your selection. Selections basically consist of grain, green, or combination bowls. There is a selection of both grains and greens. You follow your bowl along an assembly line and can customize the additional ingredients and toppings. They offer a selection of somewhat unusual drinks such as naturally flavored soft drinks. They have an app that is great for ordering customized bowls for take out. I recommend this location and expect to be a regular customer. read more

Whattttt!! Never heard of Cava before today. I had the falafel on pita with with tzatziki and red pepper hummus spread, romaine, tomato and onion, fresh mint and srirachi greek yogurt dressing. I got pita chips and strawberry, mint agave lemonade. It was scrumdiddlyumscious! Bursting with flavor and just all around awesome. I'll be coming back over and over again when I am close. What a great spot. I hate to generalize them, but they've taken the "Chipotle model" and applied it to a salad based theme, with a ton of variety & options. I certainly felt like I chose the healthy option to come here, but not quite sure how true that might be. Having never been here before, the girls behind the counter helped me build a pretty solid & healthy salad with greens, proteins, great sauces, etc. My taste buds were happy....and I'd love to come back when I can. Attended the Cava Yelp Elite event yesterday and the Manager was very pleasant. He offered a free cup of water with the complimentary gran + bowl, and when I wanted to include a side order of chips he gave that to me for FREE as well! I enjoyed my free lunch! The interior layout was very open floor plan and very clean tables and restaurant. I would definitely suggest everyone to have a bowl of salad or rice here! I have yet to meet a CAVA that I have not loved. From their friendly staff to the awesome food, it's always a great experience. So when I found out that CAVA has finally come to the Burke area, I could not wait to eat here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!! Depending on how i feel each time when I visit cava, I rotate between chicken, falafel, braised lamb, and roasted veggies. No matter what protein I get, my favorite parts about cava are their delicious dips/spreads and their unlimited amount of toppings that you can get in your bowl/pita. My personal favorites are their pickled onions, cabbage slaw, cauliflower quinoa tabbouleh, pita crisps, mint, and a lemon wedge. I'm always overjoyed when I receive my bowl after checking out and I see that my bowl has a mountain of toppings piled on top of my protein and grains. Due to this CAVA being the only one in Burke, their lines tend to be fairly long on the weekends during lunch and dinner time on the weekdays. read more

Cava is the perfect spot for a healthy, delicious, and quick lunch or dinner. All of their bowls are good, but I especially like the greens and grains combination. I ordered one of their lettuce options and brown rice with their red pepper hummus, regular hummus, feta cheese, cabbage, onions, tomatoes, and topped with the lemon vinaigrette. The red pepper hummus was one of my favorite items in the bowl. A piece of their flat bread also comes with the meal, but it's very average. Came here for a Yelp event. It was come and go so no formality of it. When we arrived, the lady was very helpful to answer every question we had. Let us sample some of the proteins and sauces before deciding which to get. She let us put a few on the side. At one point, I dropped one and she even offered to get me more. Cava is da bomb. This was my first time eating at CAVA. I've been dying to try it and I was in Burke at the shopping center where it's located and decided to stop in. First, let me say the food was good and the flavors were great. However, consider yourself warned that the customer service leaves a lot to be desired, not only from the staff, but management as well. Do not go in here if you've never been before and have a need to ask what certain items are when there isn't a label identifying it. I felt the impatientness and there was definitely a rushed feeling. When it came down to the protein I wanted to get chicken, but the braised beef caught my attention as well. So my server asked if I wanted to do half and half and I said yes. I also asked for an order of falafel and was told it would cost extra. Absolutely! I never thought or expected it to be free. The manager walked up and began berating the employee for not telling him she had done half and half. Well, she literally had just put it in the bowl and barely had time to turn around before he was in her face asking her about it. Rude and unprofessional! The braised beef is an additional charge, understandably. What I didn't understand is why I was charged the additional charge for it when I only got 1/2. If he was going to charge me the full extra cost then I should have gotten a full portion and not half. I don't go in anyplace expecting a handout or a freebie, but that just didn't make common sense. It's too bad because their food is good, but their customer service is a huge turn off. read more

I've been to many Cavas; this one was very clean and spacious, tucked away in Burke Centre. The servings were plentiful and the staff kind. I will say that I always get the falafel and this was the first time I regretted that choice. The falafel were so dry I didn't want to finish them. Typically they are so good so I'm sure I'll go back for more soon. Crazy feta is good enough that the falafel can be forgiven. I would definitely visit this location again. read more

I haven't been to many Cava's but this one was great! the restaurant was very clean and open. the staff was super friendly! I stopped by to grab a late dinner after work and was pleasantly surprised that even though there was a line, they were efficient in their service and I was on my way home 10 minutes later. I got a grain bowl with chicken. the quality and cook of the chicken was great, as were all the toppings. Their pita bread is DELICIOUS. I am a big Cava fan and will definitely return. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I feel it is a bit overpriced - but that's just Cava's everywhere and not the fault of this location. Long awaited, much anticipated first cava experience. Confession, I've been watching YouTube tutorials on how & what to order lol. Everyone (okay, maybe just my mom) tells me that it's very confusing. I can see why. Luckily I kinda knew what I wanted to order before we went in. I ordered greens & grains bowl with arugula & spinach, white rice. Dips: crazy feta, eggplant & red pepper & hummus. Veggies in place of protein. Toppings: cucumber, tomatoes, feta, pita crisps. Dressing: yogurt dill. My bowl was so good I ate it all. But those pita chips tho. A-MA-ZING we got them hot & fresh. So good I bought more for later. They're still delicious later but best still warm. Fresh, healthy creative juice & tea blends are a nice touch. All tasted eh in my opinion. I really liked the blueberry soda. I've only started going to Cava recently and I'm already low-key obsessed with this place. I came in today around 2pm and the staff was really kind and welcoming as they created a beautiful bowl according to my choices. The sriracha greek sauce is my personal favorite sauce, I also recommend trying their pita chips (they're addictive), and their Mexican cola is very refreshing along with their other assortments of iced teas and soft drinks. This was my first time going to cava. I came in completely clueless on what I wanted and how it worked, but thanks to the amazing people working here, I'm SO glad i decided to try it. There are so many choices to choose from that it can get overwhelming, but thanks to their recommendations, I ended up getting a pretty amazing bowl. The food was fantastic. I really can't see how anyone could mess up their bowl because almost every ingredient looked like it could compliment each other nicely (or maybe it was just the great recommendations the staff gave me). Easily the best part of this whole experience was the service. Everyone was so patient and friendly. They explained everything in great detail and gave me recommendations on popular picks from customers and what they personally like. Really really wish I could tip them for their excellence service, but unfortunately they aren't allowed to take tips? This review will have to do then :/. Just came home with my order from this location & couldn't be more disappointed. The beef pita i received was beef pita was completely soaked! I cannot even pick it up to eat, it tastes like a soggy sponge. The only sauce I requested was yogurt dill, so there is NO excuse for this liquid mess i unwrapped. To add insult to injury, there was barely any meat in the pita. It was 90% vegetables & some liquid I didn't ask for. EXTREMELY unsatisfied!! read more

I LOVE CAVA!! Ugh, how I wish the Hampton Roads area had one...if I want to satisfy any cravings, I would have to drive 2+ hours just to get it *crying*. This is the first casual Mediterranean spot I've been to and I was not disappointed. I love that you have so so sooo many choices. It's awesome. Aside from the abundance of choices, the amount of food they give you is worth the money. The food is healthier than many other fast food places and I was able to leave feeling full and with half a bowl left. For my bowl, I started off with the brown basmati rice and half chicken, half seasonal roasted veggies for my protein. I got the tzatziki spread on the side, and feta cheese, diced cucumbers, and shredded romaine for my toppings. To finish off my masterpiece, I got the Lemon Herb Tahini dressing. My bowl was perfect because I got to make it my way and you could tell everything was freshly made. The meat and veggies had amazing flavor and was well-seasoned.
