Food is pretty tasty and healthy, with plenty of nice options to explore. However the first time ordering experience was a little nerve wracking, as the options for what to get at each station weren't labeled consistently. Meal type was on the menu in the back, dressings were on the front window, etc. I think at the toppings station, there wasn't even anything labeled at all, and I had to use a takeout menu to figure out what each topping was. For people with social anxiety, it's important to post signage of the exact names of order options so people can simply read off various parts of their order to get what they're interested in without it becoming a question-answer type situation. However, that's a relatively minor complaint. The food was great, and I was surprised to see low calorie counts. I'll definitely be going back. read more

I typically love Cava Grill, but was very disappointed with this location! (Always pleased with the Gaithersburg location) Music was invasively loud so everyone was yelling to talk to each other, which made the volume worse. But the most disappointing part is the portion size here. I had to ask them 3 times to add more salad yet still ended up with a what WHAT would be called a small salad at any other restaurant... This Cava location is great! Even though there was a long line and we were being served quickly, they offered very friendly and helpful service! They were very accommodating when you asked for an extra scoop with no aggravated sigh or extra charge (unless you get extra protein). My favorite place to get fast food in the area. It's like Chipotle, but more Mediterranean style (and so, so much better.) I've heard that this chain is known for having super fresh ingredients, and it's easy to see- their kitchens, fridges and storage containers are all really clean, unlike other restaurants. I usually get a bowl of chicken and rice with lettuce, tomatoes, pita chips, etc. with bread on the side (they ask if you want one when you order) and it's so good- I'm always in the mood for a meal here. As for the customer service, the people definitely aren't the warmest or most sociable so don't expect much help when ordering (especially if it's your first time.) They also don't give a lot of each ingredient that you want in your bowl, so you could ask for more if you really wanted. Overall, great atmosphere and food, just wish customer service could improve. read more

I have to pay extra for this sweet potato by the way. When I asked for it this time, they gave me not one but two scoops. The guy even examined it thoroughly before plopping it on. It was crunchy and nasty. Instead of tossing out they burned sweet potato, they just spoon it to their customers. So before you pay extra, it might be worth an inspection yourself before you buy. Described to me as the "Chipotle of the Mediterranean" and that couldn't be more accurate. I wish one was closer to me than Columbia. Located in a shopping center so parking is easy. CAVA had a huge line but we really didn't wait long. Like Chipotle or Nalley Fresh you pick your "base" (greens, rice, beans, etc), then you add meat, just about any topping you could think of, and lastly sauces. I wish they had some pre-thought out meals like Nalley's, so many options can be overwhelming. They also don't have a typical "soda machine." They have a lot of drinks that you have never heard of and may even think sound gross but trust me take a chance and try them. I loved everything I got, no complaints here! I will say this place isn't cheap (over $9 for a bowl) but honestly a bowl is big enough for two meals or for people to share. I definitely took home my leftovers!! What I LOVED about this place was their attention to "eco-friendliness. I wish every place did this! They compost just about everything! Even the cups, forks, and bowls are all made out of compostable material! Not sure how they do it, it feels and looks just like plastic. read more

It's set up like Chipotle, except there are more food, toppings, and sauce options, and, they don't rush you thru the line...which I appreciate. We initially discovered CAVA while in NJ last year around October. We drove up to NYC from NC during that visit when we were introduced to CAVA by my Brother in Law. On our drive back to NC days later we stopped in our old neighborhood in Columbia,MD to check out the new developments (if any) and to stop at a favorite store in that area only to discover CAVA is located here. This location is very welcoming with a large open floor plan and great lighting. The community table is long and extended for open seating and a great space to meet other people who love to eat good. The ingredients are FRESH just like the NJ location as well as the NC location we discovered. The staff here is very welcoming and have great ideas and suggestions when building your meal. I honestly NEVER personally put my bowl together as my husband has always built my bold starting with lentil, arugula, roasted veggies, pickled onions, etc.. I mean the bowl is so flavorful. My husband always get a similar bowl minus the arugula and add rice as well as lamb. Our toddler get the child plate with pita, hummus and cucumbers which he really enjoys. The bathrooms here a clean but loud in my opinion. It seems like you enter a sound booth the music is like on level 8 (on a 1-10 setting). I also didn't care for the fact that they keep the restaurant so COLD in the winter. Everyone was eating in their coats so I know it wasn't just us that were freezing. One thing fast casual places must do well is get a nice, smooth flow with the line. Let's be real : it's a glorified cafeteria line. I have nothing against this. But when you have seven meals backed up on your line, something has gone wrong. Spicy food should be spicy, e.g., spicy meatballs. But all I taste is salt. I've had the pita and the bowl/salad. My family has been her multiple times now, and have been very pleased every time (except once, but that's b/c i put a bunch of a sauce that did not match my personal taste). There is quite a selection of meats, vegetables, pickled items, sauces, and dressings. Everything is very fresh. They fry pita as well i think for the kids meals, and those are really delicious! I wonder if they sell them normally ... they should if they don't. One other item that's really neat is most of their items can be composted (utensils and bowls). RUDE!!!! I've made a Yelp review before about how rude the staff and I'm going to say it again! These people are rude! It doesn't matter what time of day, what day the week or is or if you order from the app or in person, every single person there is RUDE! I get they're trying to work as fast as possible but you don't have to be rude and rush the customers and roll your eyes. Like excuse me? If y'all don't want to work at the food industry and learn customer service just say that!!! Cava's food is good but the customer service is forever TRASH! Unfortunately I love the food way too much to give it up, and the College park location is too far/out the way. CAVA is delicious and does not disappoint. The quality of the food and service is great. What I especially love about the place is the variety of options which allows for a multitude of combinations, each yummy and unique. The first time I had chicken and the second time I had meatballs, which is just as delicious, if not better. It may seem like they're giving you small portions at first, but honestly all the ingredients pile up, making for a well worth-it, satisfying meal. If anyone is new or wants to try a new combination, I got the greens and grains bowl with basically all the vegetables/toppings, red pepper humus, tzatziki, lemon herb tahini, green harrisa, pita crisps, and grilled meatballs. I asked for a side of lemon and pita too! The interior of the place is also modern and chic. Plenty of tables and seats.
