Horrible bowl. The black lentils were undercooked and inedible. Used a delivery service so could not directly ask for refund.

Consistency with the food isn't always there as I've had burnt items a few times. Not enough to keep me from eating it, but noticeable. So this review is really a 3.5, but I'm unable to rate it as such. The service is always impeccable with the employees seeming to always handle the stress of large orders or a busy line well. The turn around of replacing near empty items is faster than I've seen at other eateries. Dining in can be a hit or miss on tables being cleaned. I've had to clean a table in order to sit due to multiple ones being dirty. Other times there are just not any open tables due to other guests. My favorite dressing is the Skhug and I always recommend adding a side of pita. Sooooo good!!!!! The falafel is some of the best I've ever eaten with the black lentils and persian cucumbers a go to for all of my bowls. If you like pickled onions don't skip those and if you are feeling adventurous give the cabbage slaw a try! read more

I didn't want fast food so I decided to give this place a chance again. Last time I went just a few months ago, they were out of everything. And this time was pretty much the same. I get to the counter and the employee automatically rolls off all the things they are out of, so I only had a few ingredients in my bowl. Then when I went to pay they were out of bags! This location is very unpleasant-including the food and employees! The employees are very lackadaisical and do not care at all and look like they want to go home. I love this Cava! Sometimes there is a long line, but I don't mind it. I usually make my own bowl, with half harissa and half roasted veggies on top of rice & arugula and other toppings. Decent! I've had Cava in the past, but it's been a while. My work picked up from here for lunch today. I went with the Build Your Own Greens & Grains Bowl, and chose: SplendidGreens, Black Lentils, Red Pepper Hummus, Roasted Vegetables, Avocado, Pickled Onions, Tomato + Cucumber, Persian Cucumber, Kalamata Olives, Crumbled Feta, Lemon Herb Tahini. Unfortunately, when my bowl arrived, it was missing the feta. That was a bummer because it was one of the ingredients I was most excited to eat from the bowl. Everything tasted pretty standard, no standout tastes that wowed me, but also nothing bad. As a more superficial critique, I do feel the bowl could have been presented more visually appealing, something I personally find important because it adds to the enjoyment of the food itself. Instead, it looked like everything was just thrown in haphazardly and drowned in sauce. I am a heavy sauce lover, but even for me, it was a bit much. Would I eat from here again? Sure. While the service was alright here, even pleasant, the food did not taste the same as its counterparts in other locations. The portions were uneven and inconsistent, with too much sauce in some plates, not enough vegetables in another order. The biggest deterrent for me is the fact they do not take military discounts in this location, while the other locations have always given discounts for active military and veterans. The inconsistencies really threw me off, and I won't be returning to this location. I give this review four stars because I really love CAVA in general. This particular location is hit or miss tho. We must keep in mind we are in Decatur. No shade. I'm used to the attitudes honestly so I wasn't surprised. What surprised me is how everyone in front of me got a smile and a happy employee until it was my turn to order. Usually everyone gets bad service but here I guess they pick and choose idk. The lady's smile for the older couples turned into a frown quickly when she got me. The young lady prepared the pita placed the falafels on the pita then placed it on the condiment counter. She left the area after telling the cooks she needed more cooked. So my pita was on display for about 15 minutes. She finally came back. The line at CAVA is serious everyday. I waited. No one at any time assured me my order would be ready soon. My pita sat unfinished while other people ordered their food. Finally, after (20) twenty minutes, the cooks had finished cooking. A whole different person prepared my sandwich. Yes, the same pita with the previous cold falafel balls. There was no apology. Matter fact there was no customer service or words accept to ask me what I wanted on my sandwich. No apology for the delay. Then I went to pay for my food. The Cashier who came out from the back said the machine was broken to get credit for my purchase. I shared my QR code. Yes, CAVA, I am a member. She explained that I would have to go home and do the credit portion myself. HOW? I didn't scream holler or make any comments. I go to the CAVA Decatur location about 3-4 times a week for lunch or dinner because the food is healthy and it is good. HOWEVER, I don't understand how you can offer good fresh food and have such negative attitudes serving it. Not every time I go in there, do I get bad customer service. But it just bothers me that I never know what kind of vibe the employees are going to be on. Sometimes they are cool and the experience is great. But there are other times when I feel like I am being rushed, no greeting, no eye contact and sloppily throwing toppings upon my order. I respect the work they do and I know it gets hard sometimes. First time having cava! Much like a build your own bowl Mediterranean style, it had many different choices new to me and glad I tried! I built my own bowl with rice as base, hummus and tzatziki dips, grilled chicken, and topping were broccoli, olives, feta, and corn. All topped with yummy garlic sauce at the end.
