This is likely one of my least favorite Cava locations, while the quality of the food is good, they consistently get my order wrong, from the wrong toppings to mixing up my wife's order with my own to leaving items off the order all together. I have ordered from here for the past 4 years and only in the last year has it gotten consistently worse to the point I am leaving a review. I cannot remember a time in the last 2-3months where they have gotten my order correct. This was a much needed addition to the area where healthy options can be a bit scarce. I love the spinach, brown rice, chicken, and vegetables mix that was introduced in the fall. It seems that their menu shifts with the seasons, so it's nice that everything is sourced fresh. The staff is friendly and courteous and frequently scanning the store for anything that needs attention. Some things to keep in mind: on the weekdays, the lunch crowd can get pretty thick (remember the scarce healthy food options in the area?), so order ahead or come a little early; if ordering in line and you plan to take your food to go (or know you'll have leftovers) let the first server know so they use the compostable bowl rather than the washable one. read more

I am not a major fan of Power bowls. They taste bad and they're not really good for you unless you're at Cava. Cava takes these disgusting boring bowls to a whole new level. Build your own toppings such as a mix of feta herbs spicy meatballs and even falafel. You can even add hummus or their signature dips such as the crazy feta. And the fountain drinks are not what you find at most restaurants. They're Mexican sodas and their Teas and lemonades are homemade and downright amazing. My obsession with Cava could be considered unhealthy, but thankfully that's hard to accomplish because their fresh and tasty offerings are anything but. When I learned that they were opening this location, which is near my home, I couldn't have been more thrilled. Now I can get my favorite supergreens salad with everything, any time I want. The location is in the nicely developed Virginia Gateway Center which is easy to access from multiple parking lots. The design and decor of this location is very similar to other Cavas with a slight twist of it's own. I really like the wood panel ceiling that they put in, so when you visit make sure to look up and take it in. As I tell everyone that visits for the first time, read and study the menu carefully before you get in line. Even better, bring a friend that's been there before to help you. The process can be intimidating at first, but once you get the rhythm down, it becomes a majestically pleasant experience, because you can create some unique tastes that aren't offered anywhere else. My personal favorite is the supergreens salad, side pita, lentil, harissa, tzatziki, crazy feta spreads, half grilled chicken, half seasonal vegetable proteins, every topping, with half lemon herb tahini, half sriracha Greek yogurt dressings. Yeah, that's a lot, but the flavor explosions in your mouth are worth every bite. I always get the side of pita chips because they're great for scooping your mixed up salad. I also load up my side pita with my salad mix and eat it taco style. The pita sides are best when they are warm. The juices have to be one of my favorite parts about Cava because they are seasonal and creative all at the same time. Pro Tip: Sample each one before putting ice in your cup to find out what you like best. The staff at this location is still trying to get their groove, so be patient while they figure it out. Know the menu and you should be good to go. Lastly, use the Cava app to get sweet rewards like $8 credit for every $88 you spend. When you link your credit card they charge you on a monthly basis to help reduce credit card transaction fees. These savings get passed on to the customer, so it's worth the while. I spent $18.00 on what was supposed to be a double chicken grain bowl and pita chips, when I picked it up there was barely anything in the bowl! Total rip off!! If you haven't been, you should go. If you aren't sure how to order, all you have to do is ask. I have been three times (they don't have one where I live.) The people are always super nice and will help you through or make a suggestion of their faves. This trip needed a review because we landed on a late flight in from Mexico and we were starving. Everything was closed. We got here 20 minutes before closing and my husband has never been so I was helping him through but then Michael came through. We were trying to hurry so we could get out of their hair. He had already started his clean up prep but he acted like we had all the time in the world. He offered a suggestion of sauces when my husband wasn't sure to go hot or not. (Great choices btw!) He was so nice and friendly and even suggested their new fresh juice, blood orange ginger. Ingredients are solid, taste well. However both times I got a Pita wrap/Gyro they were messy and sloppy to the point of dissatisfaction.

Major language barriers. Very stingy with the food (portions are half wheat they used to be) and then they threw pita crisps all over my salad (I didn't ask for them). I happen to be celiac, so I explained that I needed her to remake it because of an allergy like reaction and she picked a few off and was like "good enough" I explained that I couldn't eat it once it touched the gluten she rolled her eyes and begrudgingly remade it. While it was nice to offer me the extra one. I think she still didn't get that it was worthless to me since it was contaminated now. I wasn't after a free meal. I love CAVA. It's basically like Mediterranean fast food but actually good (obviously not authentic for the critics in the back). I like that you can build your own bowl kinda like at chipotle. I try to visit for lunch as often as possible... This place offers some of the cleanest, healthiest meals around! Definitely a large assortment of lettuces to use as a base for your Mediterranean bowl, followed by some amazing sauces and then an outstanding assortment of proteins, followed by some tasty salad sides to go on top and awesome dressings. So I'm a huge fan of this place, but today's experience was just meh at this location. I did consider they are in a pandemic mode somewhat. However, that's also the reason for three stars. Upon entry you stream down the waiting line. I decided to use the restroom. It's a bit dark, but wasn't all that clean, outta paper towels. I'm glad I carry some. A dark air freshener was behind the toilet. Hmmmm- ok so I moved on. The next stop to the line. All were masked all were gloved. I got the build your own salad bowl. My lamb meatballs were not all that warm. Most ingredients were good- But they were not overflowing for sure. My salad and drink was 16.70$ I got extra, but a lil high. I found a table outside- they were not cleaning between guests. I used my bag as a table cloth. No silverware, return inside, back outside then no pita, back inside. I was getting dizzy. My salad bowl was good, not great like Tyson's corner. None of them touch Rockville so far. My hope is people are wiping down tables and common areas. The door handle at lunch scared me slightly. This was my first time ever going to a build your own Mediterranean dish place and I I gotta say, I was absolutely blown away by how good the food was! I ate here when I was in town visiting family and I wish there were places like this where I live. First, you start with a base (I personally loved the black lentil grain bowl), then you add spreads, protein, and toppings. I got my bowl with hummus, jalapeno feta, spicy lamb, tomatoes, and onions, and I had the most incredibly flavorful meal... all for around $10! I have eaten at this location twice since it has opened. Food is good, I usually get a grain bowl, brown rice with chicken, hummus, roasted red pepper hummus and crazy feta. I also got quinoa, crumbled feta, tomatoes and onion, cucumber and tomatoes all topped with lemon tahini. Bowls are very filling and you can easily make it 2 meals. My only complaint is that non of your topping are labeled so be sure to grab a menus on your way in so you can see your options. Lots of seasonal tea/juice options which is fun. The staff is just so nice and helpful and patient, and the manager makes sure to be out on the floor cleaning and keeping the place in tip top shape - not something you see every manager do! I'm so happy this location finally opened! I'm a big fan of Cava enough that I drive out to the Fairfax location when the craving hits... but now it's in my backyard and I'm so thrilled. I always get the greens and grains bowl, they have a huge selection from Romaine, mesclun mix, arugula, and power greens. I stick to either the chicken or the beef, I tried the others (lamb) and I didn't feel that it was worth the extra upcharge. When it comes to toppings don't worry so much if you don't know what it is (unless you have food allergies) ... my system is if it looks good just get it!! There's no extra cost for all the fresh yummy toppings so I always get 5-6. Combine that with a few scoops of hummus and Tzatiki ... you get a wonderful meal and healthy too! Last but not least top it off with dressing which isn't really necessary since everything is already flavored really well but the new green harissa is absolutely delicious! The drinks are pretty good too, everybody loved the pumpkin and so did I. If this wasn't enough the staff was super nice and friendly and got a lot of people through at a reasonable pace. read more
