What a great place to get some fantastic fresh Mediterranean eats! I love the way the menu is set up. You choose a base of pita, greens and grains. You can go half and half. The sauces are super yummy. The protein options are hard to choose from with beef, lamb, chicken, falafel, vegys. And then a miriad of additional toppings. Everything is fresh and flavorful. I went with a bowl, and could not finish it all. I took some home for lunch the next day (darn!). The guy that built my meal was super friendly and funny. If there is a line, it moves rather quickly. Can't beat the price point. You can eat in, or outside, and of course take it to go. They have a very cool app to order ahead, which I see happening on my future. I recently ate at Cava Birkdale location and had a horrible experience. I was eating by myself and got my food, then looked for an open table to eat at and saw a table open...a 2 top and no one was at it. I want to put my food down to go get my drink and the table was dirty and had an empty cup on it so I threw away the empty cup and got napkins to wipe off the table. At the same time I noticed 4 employees behind the counter standing in a group talking to each other and thought if they aren't busy someone should clean the tables. I got my drink and sat down and was half way through eating my food which has been probably 10-12 mins and a girl walked up and looked at the stuff on my table and walked away...i thought that was strange. Then a tall black man walked up to me in a Cava uniform and said, "you threw away her cup"...confused, I said what? He said she left her cup on the table and I threw it away. I said no one was sitting here, so I cleaned off the table and did throw away the empty cup. In a very confrontational way, he asked me why I threw away her cup. I ask why they are harassing a customer for throwing away an empty cup left on a table that belonged to an employee. I asked for a manager and the girl that cup I threw away said, she is the manager. If that is how that store is run, I will never eat there again. And trying to intimidate a customer who is minding his own business and in the middle of eating is not appropriate. I went online and filled out a complaint and asked for a regional manager to review the I store cameras and watch the employee intimidate me and got a canned response from corporate and there was no follow up. The employees involved should be fired. Stay way if you don't want to be abused by the employees at the Birkdale Cava. read more

This was our first time here and it was great! When we first walked in, there was a sign showing where they get their ingredients from locally. It's a simple menu style: you choose either a mini pita and soup, pita, salad, grains, or a mix of salad and grains. The husband chose the mini pita and minestrone soup. The soup was a good brothy soup. His mini pita was good, probably great for a lunch size or in his case, not super hungry. He really enjoyed it and is hooked on this place. I got the mixed greens and grains. The guy making it was great with making suggestions. I LOVED my meal. I got the chicken and it was on point. The dips, the toppings... super fresh and very flavorful. The pickled onions, the feta, the hummus al just worked really well together. They also have a really good juice bar. I mixed the blueberry and lemonade and it was a very nice combo. So, when you are in the Birkdale area, check this place out. It might not look fancy, but the food is satisfying! read more

Cava has become one of my new go to spots. It's a Mediterranean C--p-t-e. When I first went, I thought that it was overpriced. Comparing it to it's competition who cost about $7 per meal, the bowl I was making with lamb balls was nearly twice as much. However I was schooled on how to get around the price and since then, CAVA and I have been walking hand in hand. If you like lamb, like myself, I advise that you get a mini pita and put the things that you would put on a bowl on the pita. You come out spending less. The pita bread is soft and easy to digest. Their toppings are very fresh and I LOVE the lamb balls. Lamb has a texture that's a cross between beef and liver, and I love theirs. They also have a shredded lamb. Simply having something that's out of the ordinary is appealing to me. Chicken and beef get old. So if you haven't had the lamb here, give it a try. read more

3.5 stars, rounded up. I was really excited to have another Mediterranean fast-casual dining option in town, and Cava offers fast and fresh food for a very reasonable price. The only thing I'm not fond of is their falafel, my favorite thing to eat at a Med restaurant. I've tried their falafel pita, and rice bowl with falafel and braised lamb. The pita is good, but I think I prefer the bowl. But here's why I'm not a fan of their falafel - it's not crispy (probably from sitting on the prep line), and is made with both full-sized chickpeas and ground chickpeas. I prefer my falafel to be light and crispy, and this just isn't it. But their add-ins are extremely fresh and delicious (like the hummus, harissa, tomato/cucumber salad, cabbage, etc.), and their lemon herb tahini is just delicious. They are also very fast, and service is always friendly. Their braised lamb is $2 more, but it's really good. You can get two proteins in your bowl, and I tried this with my falafel one time. It's shredded, and has great seasoning. I don't get lamb very often, but this is definitely the place to try it. I just might have to skip the falafel and get only lamb the next time. Their food also has great value. For about $10, you can get a bowl or wrap (remember that lamb is extra), and a cup of water. I really like the concept and actually tried cava a few years ago. I agree with everyone that this is a great addition to the Huntersville food scene. I think that they are going to do well. I tried the grain bowl with Jasmine rice, humus, braised lamb, tomato/cucumber salad and feta. I really enjoyed it, but felt that the portion was small. Especially because there is an upcharge for the braised lamb. Maybe I had the wrong person scooping but it just felt like I didn't need get that much (based on like minded restaurants). My wife got the pita wrap with braised lamb and she also felt it was a little small. I really enjoyed the flavors and may be more strategic the next time. Service was quick and easy. For what we got, I felt that the price was a little on the high side. Overall the experience was good and would try again. read more

WOW! So flavorful and so many combinations. CAVA does not disappoint and is a welcome fast casual addition to the dining options at Birkdale. I ventured here for lunch today with 3 women from work, (thankfully 77 was cooperating, because we all know how that can be!). We were able to jump in the line right away and make our selections. The best way I can describe their fast casual style is that it's a mix of Chopt and Chipotle but with Mediterranean fare that is so fresh and flavorful. I had bowl of greens with their Super Greens Mix, an eggplant hummus, red pepper hummus, and tahini, half lamb and half chicken, cucumber, tomatoes, olives, pita, and a light drizzle of dill yogurt sauce. If your mouth is watering, (and it should be), let me tell you that while water is a great option, their in house juices are the way to go. I had a watermelon mint juice that was out of this world. All in all it was $15 for a bowl of healthy deliciousness. It looks like a significant portion of their business was carry out as they have a whole wall where you can pick up to-go orders. Ok ok. My heart is for Yafo so I was super interested to give CAVA a try on my way back to Charlotte from the lake. I came around 9:30 before closing time and it was still busy! Even though they were closing they continued to bring fresh food out including new rice and fresh chicken. Plus the stuff was super friendly. I went with the BYO grain bowl with chicken. I love how you get to pick three spreads then any toppings you would like! I went with the eggplant, hummus and spicy crazy feta. Next on to the veggies- I topped it with tomato/cucumber salad, pickled onions, white bean salad and feta. Lastly it was topped with sriracha Greek yogurt. So creamy! Oh my Lordy was this concoction amazing!!!!! It was also served with warm pita that was equally awesome. My bowl was full of flavor and all of my toppings mixed so well together. You can't go wrong! Ps my husband got the dill yogurt mixed with the lemon herb sauce as recommended and his flavor was so fresh! Both bowls we got had such different flavors. Mine spicy. His refreshing. I have visited this cava a few times and any time you go after 6:30-7 pm they are out of most ingredients and cleaning/ putting chairs up even though their hours are 10-10. This doesn't give a great impression to customers coming in. One employee was yelling curse words behind the counter across the restaurant which was distracting me from the other employee telling me they were out of most things to make my bowl. The food is not bad when it's actually available, but overall experience is not the best out of the other cavas i have been to. Please work on this read more

Pull up a meditation cushion and get comfortable, I'm gonna put on some chamomile tea and we're gonna have a chat about the conspiracy taking place at Cava and why Arya Stark is to blame. A girl can't eat fine dining every day, nor does she want to cook every night, sometimes a fast casual, healthy-ish place like Cava is necessary. I have a sensitive stomach and a snobbish attitude towards food in general so Cava is actually a happy medium for me. Their food is pretty good, quick, and doesn't make me sick, so that's all dandy. But I have a real bone to pick and it's about to get serious so come and take a ride with me. The reason I'm giving Cava 3 stars is because they are spicy lamb meatball tyrants and I'm tired of pretending they're not. Every time I order takeout, I slowly approach my to-go bag with hope in my heart that they've changed their ways. But they never change. I am consistently let down just like every time I make the poor choice to sleep with a hot guy in his twenties. I know better. It's always unsatisfying. At this point, I need to take off my rose colored glasses because they continually show me who they are with their actions and it's time to just accept it. I am tired of paying exorbitant prices for teeny little balls of lamb ($1 per itsy ball of meat!) and never receiving all the meat spheres that I pay for! NEVER! It's not once in awhile this happens. It's Every. Single. Time. Without fail. And I'm not here for it. I always end up in my car, digging furiously through hummus and pickled onions searching for my 8 promised spicy balls and they're never there. Sometimes there's 5, sometimes 6 and a half. Once there was 4 and quarter. Never 8! Call me petty all you want but for $16 I want every freaking ball I've paid for. It's hard to blame the management at Cava because honestly how many people can actually take on a trained assassin who has the ability to change her face out and look like anyone she wants.
