    BLT with Fries
    Suzanne S.

Super nice folks and this little restaurant attached to a gas station get busy! Great food, plenty of seating and clean interior. I've heard so much about their BLTs that I had to try for myself. They live up to the hype. Tomatoes were fresh and delicious, definitely not grocery store tomatoes. Bacon was plentiful and crispy and I love the huge hunk of iceberg lettuce. Simply toasted bread and plenty of mayo round out this perfection. The fries were hot and thin, which I love! Also, perfectly salted. The Baklava I bought for later was ok, but wasn't my favorite rendition of that dish. Wouldn't get that again. If you are looking for a fast and delicious lunch in Mooresville, this is your place!

My mom stopped night and it was 30 dollars for two Friday night special fish and shrimp combo. It's good but not for 30 dollars. She also did get baklava My mom usually stops every for us, and gets the fish plate. Which is very very good. A couple weeks ago I wanted something different she got me the gyro with no onion. It is seriously the best gyro I've ever had it is so good. I also got fried okra, they were good also. Big Bitez really does have great food, the seafood and the gyro are both amazing and the gyro are both amazing. r

hot dog (mustard, onion, relish) and fries

kinda late getting out of work and I don't feel like actually making something anyway so I'm having another go at Big Bitez in Mooresville. it's not too far out of my way and I can pick up a lamburger for breakfast while I'm here :-) brightly lit inside, clean and well arranged and there's a guy bringing pumpkins out to the dining room - which is odd because it's only mid-september. anyway I ask for a hotdog combo and a gyro to go and I start writing this while I wait. a few minutes later my food shows up and off I go to dine at home and await the return of the cutest of chicks. fries survived the journey intact and still warm but a little worse for the drive as most sandwich shop fries tend to be after a few minutes in foam packaging which makes me sad. on the plus side they were very recently actual potatoes that deserve their own paper sack. the meat stick isn't quite Scala's preferred but does a good job nonetheless: firm and hot and doggy in a fresh bun under a generous pile of onions, relish, and yellow mustard. hot diggity dog! gyros is Kronos, onions and tomatoes are red, tzatziki sauce is thick and rich and delicious, pita is soft and foldy... add a glass of OJ and we're looking at the best breakfast in a long time..

I ordered the pork belly bao buns, but they missed the mark for me. Coming from NY, I'm used to bao buns being marshmallow-soft and pillowy, but these were a hard, and the pork belly itself was quite tough. Our wonderful waitress noticed I only took one bite and brought the manager over. He explained that the cut is naturally mostly fat, which I understand, but the texture just wasn't quite right because it should be tender not tough. I declined a replacement dish, and he kindly credited it on our bill, though the interaction felt a little awkward. My husband's salmon unfortunately had a very heavy mustard flavor. The spinach farrotto underneath was quite salty. Since there isn't a kids menu which is fine, my daughter ordered the burger plain, but it wasn't really a hit for her. My coconut guava Paloma was okay definitely the best part of my meal though it tasted a little artificial. The ambiance has a lot of potential, and they had live music playing. However, it was a bit too loud for the space, forcing guests to raise their voices just to speak to each other. We also noticed our table hadn't been wiped down thoroughly before we sat down. The absolute silver lining of our evening was our waitress. She was incredibly sweet, highly attentive, and took great care of us. She is truly the reason I am giving 3 stars. She mentioned that they offer a completely different menu for brunch. Because the setting is so pretty and the service was so good, we might give them another chance for brunch down the road, but we likely wouldn't return for dinner. Proof that lighting and plating can hide a lot! Captured these beautiful views last night, even though the dinner itself was a bit of a letdown.

The shrimp wrap, however, was disappointing. It had very little shrimp and seemed to rely heavily on overcooked bacon and an abundance of lettuce, which made it tough to chew and left it lacking balance. The menu offers unique flavors and creative combinations, but in this dish, there seemed to be more emphasis on presentation and concept than substance.

Our server, Payton, was kind, provide good service throughout our meal. I ordered the fish and chips and the steak, and both were very good. The beautiful waterfront view and live music made for a relaxing and enjoyable evening. My only suggestion is for the staff who seat guests. First impressions are everything in hospitality, and I noticed the menus and napkins were tossed onto the table rather than being placed down with care. It may seem like a small detail, but it sets the tone for the entire dining experience. I work in the hospitality industry and have traveled all over the world, and I've learned that outstanding customer service is just as important as great food. Even on busy nights, those little touches make guests feel welcome and encourage them to come back.

2nd edit .. i am finished exchanging with the owner. My record stands for itself on Yelp and so…read moredoes the owner's. Negative reviews boil down to the way she treats customers and the environment she promotes. But as she likes to say... NEXT .. This is bullying behavior and it doesn't look very professional. On every review platform others have been treated exactly the same. A Tip? for what exactly? The stellar service? Ruining my birthday dinner? Maybe she should pay her tip as the owner for treating customers this way. It IS refreshing to hear her defend her employees, as I have read comments by former employees she's treated horribly. My daughter-in-law simply said she felt sorry for the server working under these conditions. The owner responds to unfavorable reviews harshly. She wasn't present, didn't know the facts, yet responded within minutes of my review. To correct the account she provided: WE asked for the police after reaching an impasse. We were speaking with the manager, not "scolding" her daughter. We asked for the owner's contact information because we did not know the manager was her daughter. Once we learned that, my daughter-in-law asked for her father's information, assuming the owner might be "Eddie." It was an innocent misunderstanding. There was no shouting or harshness. Two steaks were overcooked. We intended to pay our $197 bill; we never refused. The police can confirm that. We never saw a receipt, only the total on a check. The claim that we refused payment is false. The fish remake offer came much later, after escalation, not immediately. I've written over 69 reviews in 14 years, and only four have been one-star reviews. This is the only review I've had to edit in response to untrue claims. We chose this restaurant to celebrate despite locals warning us about bad experiences. The menu looked promising. Most of the food was fine; the issue was service. As long as everything goes perfectly and you don't complain, you'll probably be fine. We were seated on a side patio in direct sun with no shade despite having a very fair-skinned infant with us. We asked to move and were reseated inside, even though we had requested a lake view, believing this was the only patio. We were not told there was a shaded back patio. The hostess made it feel like an inconvenience. Our server later explained seating is based on server quotas, not guest preference. We rarely saw our server; expo delivered most food. When I spoke to someone in a "Staff" jacket about seating (later identified as the owner's daughter), she turned away without engaging. The issue escalated when both steaks were overcooked twice. After another wait, a manager arrived who had been shucking oysters nearby without acknowledging us. Her shirt was soiled, which raised concern about presentation. She said inconsistent steak cooking was not something they could control. The steak was remade, but still overcooked. Because it was my birthday, my husband waited to eat with me while others started. By the time my replacement arrived, his fish sandwich was cold and no longer served at an appropriate holding temperature, which raised concerns about food safety. We again asked to speak with someone and were told it was the owner's daughter. We said we would pay for everything except the overcooked steak and cold sandwich. She refused. Because we could not resolve it, we asked for police assistance. Employees stood near the front door though we had never refused to pay. The sandwich was later offered to be remade, but by then we were ready to leave. The issue was never payment. It was poor food quality, poor service, and refusal to correct a reasonable complaint. The steak was eventually removed from the bill. The issue came down to a cold sandwich and the expectation that a party dining together should eat together. When mistakes happen, acknowledgment matters more than excuses. I have dined worldwide and rarely experienced service like this. After reading other reviews, I noticed a pattern of the owner dismissing feedback and responding defensively rather than constructively, which may explain the low ratings. Aside from this restaurant, we had a wonderful visit to the area and found other great restaurants. I only wish we had read reviews beforehand. The police told us the owner said we were no longer welcome back. OH Darn.

The inside was decorated in a fun lake theme! Red flag alert: the menu is massive. I'm a firm believer that no kitchen can master everything from A to Z, and Toucan's kind of proves the point. It was "just okay," maybe as much as good but not quite GREAT but the Shrimp Platter actually held its own! The shrimp were huge, well-seasoned, and the rice and beans were a surprising highlight. The real MVP of the night, though, was our waitress. Managing a party of 15 is usually a recipe for disaster, but she was a total pro. Every order was correct, the food arrived hot, and our drinks never hit empty.
