    BLT with Fries
    Suzanne S.

Super nice folks and this little restaurant attached to a gas station get busy! Great food, plenty of seating and clean interior. I've heard so much about their BLTs that I had to try for myself. They live up to the hype. Tomatoes were fresh and delicious, definitely not grocery store tomatoes. Bacon was plentiful and crispy and I love the huge hunk of iceberg lettuce. Simply toasted bread and plenty of mayo round out this perfection. The fries were hot and thin, which I love! Also, perfectly salted. The Baklava I bought for later was ok, but wasn't my favorite rendition of that dish. Wouldn't get that again. If you are looking for a fast and delicious lunch in Mooresville, this is your place!

My mom stopped night and it was 30 dollars for two Friday night special fish and shrimp combo. It's good but not for 30 dollars. She also did get baklava My mom usually stops every for us, and gets the fish plate. Which is very very good. A couple weeks ago I wanted something different she got me the gyro with no onion. It is seriously the best gyro I've ever had it is so good. I also got fried okra, they were good also. Big Bitez really does have great food, the seafood and the gyro are both amazing and the gyro are both amazing. r

hot dog (mustard, onion, relish) and fries

kinda late getting out of work and I don't feel like actually making something anyway so I'm having another go at Big Bitez in Mooresville. it's not too far out of my way and I can pick up a lamburger for breakfast while I'm here :-) brightly lit inside, clean and well arranged and there's a guy bringing pumpkins out to the dining room - which is odd because it's only mid-september. anyway I ask for a hotdog combo and a gyro to go and I start writing this while I wait. a few minutes later my food shows up and off I go to dine at home and await the return of the cutest of chicks. fries survived the journey intact and still warm but a little worse for the drive as most sandwich shop fries tend to be after a few minutes in foam packaging which makes me sad. on the plus side they were very recently actual potatoes that deserve their own paper sack. the meat stick isn't quite Scala's preferred but does a good job nonetheless: firm and hot and doggy in a fresh bun under a generous pile of onions, relish, and yellow mustard. hot diggity dog! gyros is Kronos, onions and tomatoes are red, tzatziki sauce is thick and rich and delicious, pita is soft and foldy... add a glass of OJ and we're looking at the best breakfast in a long time..

We ordered spinach artichoke dip and chicken tenders for the kids. We were pleasantly surprised with the portion sizes. The appetizer was good, but nothing amazing. The chicken tenders were big and flavorful. Yet, the fries definitely stole the show. I'm not a fan of shoestring fries, but they were seasoned so well that I didn't mind. While our appetizer and kids' meals came out quickly, our entrees were a little slow to arrive. I ordered the salmon and fries, since I could steal any more from the kiddos. The salmon was a decent portion and seasoned nicely. However, it was slightly over cooked. Overall, the experience was good.

The menu is extensive so be prepared to be indecisive. Everything looked really good though. Some items we got were better than other unfortunately. Fish and chips- the fish was plentifully but the batter was hard and not seasoned well and the tartar sauce was not tartar sauce. Burger and fries- missing seasoning Seafood platter- seasoning was a miss Hush puppies- more flour than cornflour so a soft puppy and again seasoning was off. Zuppe di Pesci- excellent pasta, sauce was salty and seafood was cooked great. Kids tenders- good Overall, the experience was good. Would return and try different things. Wish the seasonings were on point but perhaps it was the time of day but we can try again.

The inside was decorated in a fun lake theme! Red flag alert: the menu is massive. I'm a firm believer that no kitchen can master everything from A to Z, and Toucan's kind of proves the point. It was "just okay," maybe as much as good but not quite GREAT but the Shrimp Platter actually held its own! The shrimp were huge, well-seasoned, and the rice and beans were a surprising highlight. The real MVP of the night, though, was our waitress. Managing a party of 15 is usually a recipe for disaster, but she was a total pro. Every order was correct, the food arrived hot, and our drinks never hit empty. Go for the lake vibes and the stellar service, stay for the shrimp, but maybe keep your expectations for the rest of that giant menu in check. A solid choice for a big group outing! The only downside was she forgot to ask for no onions on the wrap, so she only had a few bites, but that definitely wasn't the restaurant's fault. The drinks: The two girls ordered Miami Vice and I ordered a Rum Runner. The Vices were not frozen the strawberry puree was not a puree and the pubs colada potion tasted like whip cream - had to return them they were so bad. My Rum Runner was meh at best. The Bahama Mamma wasn't much better as the mix of the drink was way off compared to the liquor. My beer was barely cold. The food: Appetizers: Fried pickles and fried Mac & Cheese bites - both delicious My blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich was delicious and was cooked to perfection. My onion rings were huge but way undercooked. My wife's buffalo chicken salad very little flavor except the chicken pieces themselves. Huge amounts of ice berg lettuce but mostly the bitter white parts. Very little other greens at all. Our friends Mahi Mahi Tacos were delicious. Service: Food and drinks were served relatively fast & our server was attentive. I did find her annoyingly over the top. She kinda ruined the whole relaxing vibe. Our total bill was $118.00 (they did not charge us for the 2 bad drinks) Overall, not worth the drive. The view of lake Norman is so-so unless you're right along the railing.
