Stopped by CAVA today after work, after looking for something new to eat in the neighborhood (I work at a restaurant nearby and I am sick of eating there.) I was looking for something quick, cheap, and relatively healthy. CAVA seemed perfect! Overall I like the atmosphere. If you've ever been a Chipotle you pretty have experienced what this place has to offer besides the fact that it's Mediterranean based. Overall, I'm pleased. Based on other reviews it seems this place usually has a long line and I can see why. It's fast, large portions for the price. The only thing daunting about it is basically the same with any of these build your own bowl style places. I had no idea what anything was, and therefore don't know if built the best bowl I could've gotten. But overall I'm happy. read more

I visited NYC from the west coast several of times in the last year for both work and personal travel. While working I'm always looking for lunch options that are quick, healthy, and delicious. I recently decided to brave the long line out the door at CAVA because I had time to spare and I'm so glad I did. The line moved much faster than I expected; they've really got the whole process of ordering and building your meal figured out. I got a grain bowl with lentils, hummus, tzatziki, and eggplant + red pepper dip, tomato and cucumbers, white beans, pickled onions, and olives with lemon herb tahini dressing. It was great!! The ingredients were fresh, and there were a lot of distinct flavors that worked really well together. I have been back many times as this is now my usual lunch spot when I'm in NY and it never disappoints. I hope we get a CAVA in San Francisco soon! read more

5 stars for their super healthy options. Like how you can use quinoa instead of rice for a base. But overall the bowl I chose just didn't have real good flavor. Of all the places that offer to let you customize your own bowl, this is the best I've tried. Great selection of ingredients, and all the ones I got were high-quality. Filling and a great deal for the area. I found the pickup system confusing, though. I ordered ahead and didn't see my bowl among those on what seemed like the only pick-up table. None of the staff knew what was up with my order, until one said she'd made mine a while ago and pointed to another table, which looked like a place for trash. All's well that ends well. read more

This Cava location opened months ago and I just tried it for the first time a few weeks ago. I'm sad I waited so long! The hype is real. I've been back 2x already and really loved my bowl each time. The eggplant, spicy feta & hummus dips are definitely the best. I've always gotten the chicken, but I'm ready to try something new next time. Every protein looks delicious! The herb lemon dressing is also great. It's thick, but not too overpowering. I also have tried the siracha dressing on the side and it's very good, but spicier than I expected. I can't wait for more Cava locations to open in the city. Good thing I live pretty close to this one! Already planning my next dinner here. read more

holy sh*t.... this is my new favorite place. I've been to all the "healthy bowl places" like dig inn, Hu Kitchen, the little beet, sweet green, etc. But Cava's flavor really takes it to the next level. The grilled chicken was so so flavorful and all the endless toppings you can choose are so delicious. Service was also really good! If you're intimidated by Mediterranean flavors, don't worry bc I am too but this was no problem at all. Let me just end with this- the hummus is to die for. Unlike any hummus I've ever had. I've tried every rice bowl there is in the neighborhood: Chipotle, Nanoosh, the original Chicken & Rice stand on 53rd & 6th, Pita Grill, etc, etc... and well, Cava blows them all out of the water. If you can muster up the effort to wait in line during the peak lunch rush (will take you about ~15 minutes to get through), you won't be disappointed by their Mediterranean concoction. A+ read more

If you're one of the many New Yorkers struggling to find grub that is fast, reasonably priced and good, then you should definitely check this place out. Today was my first visit to Cava, I went during lunch and the line was out the door. I advise to order in advance or go there earlier during the weekday. But OMG was the greens & grain bowl the most delicious bowl I have had in a while. It was full of flavor and did not leave me feeling like I overate. They give you plenty of options to choose from for the base, dips, sides, and dressings. They also do a great job indicating which items are vegetarian, vegan, has diary, etc.! I'm definitely going to stop by here more often. read more

It was a really great place when it opened; food was fresh and delicious on all small details, used to eat here once a week, Lately this place starting to feel like another chain aka crest your own. Service became really bad without any patient even if it's just to add an item to my plate. On Sundays this place is dirty in all areas from the drink counter to the bathroom (no soap or paper either). Food level is still good except the fact they serve you a dry pita bread almost every time I've asked for one, I can't even break it with my hands! I Used to love this place, Too bad. read more

I've had this place bookmarked for the longest time and finally made my way here this week. It is what you expect- a Mediterranean chipotle but so so good! I got the bowl with the super greens (mix of kale and brussel sprouts) with the red pepper hummus, eggplant and pepper dip, and tzatziki. Then I got chicken and almost all the mix-ins! The tzatziki was so so good and definitely my favorite. But the red pepper hummus was a close second. The entire bowl was so flavorful and every bite was so delicious. I will most definitely be back. I knocked off one star because they give you the tiniest scoop of the dips. But other than that, this place is amazing and I cannot wait to return! read more

These are extraordinary times and it is completely unacceptable and irresponsible to not wear a mask while indoors. Cava is a welcome addition to chipotle-style restaurants that allow you to make a customizable bowl with a myriad of options. I really like Cava's falafel and in particular, their eggplant hummus is DELICIOUS. Hey Cava. Just a suggestion; If someone comes in without a mask, have disposable ones to offer them like most businesses do. I live a block away and as I was leaving I forgot to grab one of the many masks I have hanging up by my door. Before I walked into Cava, I wrapped my face (nose included) in my scarf. The guy working (possibly the manager. Short, skinny, dark hair) did not even say hello and said "ya have to be wearing a mask." I politely said "thank you" and left. While I understand the mask policy and fully support it, I made a rare mistake and thought my face fully wrapped in a scarf would suffice. I am completely at fault for forgetting my mask, I would just suggest having masks for people who innocently forgot/dropped/broke theirs. I am a customer service manager and the first thing I do when someone walks in is say "hello." Pretty simple. OH and we have masks to offer patrons if what they are covering their face with does not meet our standards. Thanks! read more

WOW, this place was awesome. I am a vegan and they have some amazing things to eat, they don't have a lot of sauces that are vegan friendly. I really liked the food, the taste was amazing. The price was very reasonable at around 10-11 dollars with tax and will defiantly be going back again multiply times. read more

Great fast casual lunch or dinner spot. I love a good Mediterranean chipotle place and cava is great! I love their chicken and all of the toppings as well as the sriracha Greek yogurt dressing. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. Whenever I am in Manhattan, I must eat here or at least grab something to take home. This place is awesome. I get the spinach with a bunch of toppings. I have nothing bad to say about anything I have had. I have not tried the tofu yet but have had the falafel, chicken and meatballs. The Tzatziki is the best I've had. So strong and flavorful. I also get the Red Pepper Hummus. Combined its all so flavorful you don't need dressing but they do have some to choose from. It is such a yummy healthy option. read more

I've been to Cava multiple times because it's a healthy, delicious, quick, filling, and inexpensive meal ($10-$11). The ordering process is the same as Chipotle: you get to choose the type of base you want (rice, greens, combo, etc.) and all the fillings. You can pick up to three spreads (hummus, tzatziki, etc.), a protein, unlimited (!!) toppings, and a sauce. Plus, the servers have always been extremely nice. I've only ever ordered rice bowls, but one day I might decide to be adventurous and try something different! I will just note that it gets really busy during meal times (the line sometimes goes out the door), so try coming during off-hours to avoid the rush if you can. read more

It was my first time so I was definitely intimidated by the numerous customers who've already gotten into the groove of ordering. I had no idea what anything would taste. Similar to chipotle you can pick what bread (base) you want and your protein(s). From there if your familiar with Mediterranean flavors your going to be a kid in a candy store. For each topping selection you get 3 choices. There were fresh veggies, hummus, starches and even garnishes to choose from. Relatively cheap considering how full you plate or bowl would be. Don't let the line scare you - it goes by extremely quickly, and you'll have barely been able to pick your ingredients by the time you arrive to the counter because there are so many options. I get the falafel each time as my protein, on a bowl of supergreens and black lentils. The hummus offerings are great, and you get to choose three options (though I always get two of the roasted red pepper because it is simply that good). The unlimited toppings of pickled vegetables and other garnishes are also much appreciated. In addition to the fresh delicious healthy food here, I must commend the fabulous friendly staff - in particular Lotus. I was having such a bad day in the office, I popped in to grab something to bring back to my desk. As I was so busy and vague I totally forgot my wallet. In other lunch spots this would be such a "big deal" and make you feel awkward but not with Lotus. She was so kind and said totally don't worry about it,eat and pop back for payment when you can with a massive friendly smile like was no big deal. Not only was she so friendly, tested me and made me feel super fabulous about myself and not being such a donut to forget my wallet. You don't often get that from your lunch spots - turned my bad day into the best day. Of course I had to get my wallet straight away and sort everything out especially as she was so trusting. This place is awesome I've been to two different locations and they are equally amazing the one on Park Ave., South and the one down by NYU are both incredible the food is so amazing the lamb the chicken all of the meets are amazing you get to pick your base of lettuce and you get to decide whether you want that with lentils or with rice or however you want to choose and from there you build I boil boy can you build! Simply amazing! The staff was so friendly, everybody was smiling and the food was delicious! We ordered pitas and the guy behind the counter wasn't happy about the first so he gave us two fresh ones while apologizing for the extra time it took (we waited for maybe 2 extra minutes - no harm done). He was very good at explaining the different proteins and he kept asking if we wanted more dressing to make sure we were satisfied.
