The reason why I'm writing this nasty review is because I know that a normal serving of protein includes 2 full spoons. I went in and asked for double meat and I was prepared to pay for it. I received 4 HALF SPOONS which equals to a regular serving rather than receiving 4 FULL spoons of protein. I wish I would have gotten the name of the person that helped me because I would've mentioned them here. If you guys are going to charge people extra for protein then you need to give them what they're paying for. We stopped in for lunch on the day of the government shutdown after running some errands in Rockville. We hardly ever go to this part of Rockville anymore and were pleasantly surprised to see CAVA here now. The restaurant was bustling but the employees all had positive attitudes. First time at Cava and will not be my last. They have a build you own bowl/pita concept with veggies and proteins from local sources. They have a list of the farms and suppliers on the wall which is nice to see. I got a pita with falafel and added some yummy veggies and sauces and it was quite tasty. They also have housemade sodas with some unique flavorful options, I had a ginger,lime, turmeric soda and had to go back for seconds it was so good. Give this place a try it is quite good. read more

The restaurant is located in the new development right across the street from Shady Grove Center. You can see it as soon as you exit off of I-270. I was excited to visit the brand new location. The interior is reminiscent of the local Cava grills except this one has a tad more of an industrial feel. As I constructed my bowl going down the line, the staff was very pleasant and patient. I did not feel rushed when it came to choosing my toppings. I was very impressed with the friendly vibes here. The food was fresh, and I was even asked if I wanted pita or dressing on the side. It appears as though pita bread is free of charge, but not the chips. My favorite is the seasonal vegetable blend...they are always a great compliment to my bowl. The cashier was either stressed or felt rushed (even though there was not a long line). She was not as friendly as the others, and to be honest I question whether or not I was charged correctly. The last bowl in my order was still being assembled when she gave me the total. Customer service was excellent up until this point. I was not even asked if I wanted a drink or cup for water. There is ample seating for dining, and seasonal drinks are offered such as lemon thyme and pineapple black tea. Let me start by saying Cava grill is my favorite casual fast food around! I have always been familiar with their menu and food options because of the original restaurant in Traville MD. This chain has expanded tenfold and I'm so happy they opened one in my neighborhood. The food is excellent, the staff is always nice and friendly, and the place is clean. If you haven't been, this is a must-try! Especially the location in Rockville MD (upper rock). I have seen some of the reviews and can sympathize with some of the yelpers. But some of these negative reviews are dead wrong! Since the management in hiring Angel (store manager), this location has been nothing but excellent. He runs the place exceptional and has everything under control. He respects his staff and knows his customers. I'm a regular here and he knows my order to a tee. Mind you, I don't have the most simple order. I get certain toppings on the side and ask for a little extra with other toppings. He greets me with a smile and always has great energy! There are a lot of options to eat around but this is hands down the best food for the price. They serve fresh, healthy, savory food options. I am a huge believer there is something here for everyone, you just have to find your right mix. I have referred a lot of friends to this location and they all love it! Keep up the great work Angel! Edit: Have to edit my original review. Twice out of the last 4 takeout orders, they have not included the dressing with my order or the side of pita bread. Let it slide the first time, but when it happens twice, it's got to be an internal problem with their process (double-checked the takeout receipt that is in the bag, and the dressing is listed right on there!!!). How do you let that happen? Disappointed. Love CAVA and their food. This is my closest location, and since the quarantine, I have been ordering food online and picking it up. Staff is very friendly, although when it comes to toppings, I've notice this location (unlike others) really loads the toppings on. I usually have to tell them I want a "small portion" of the toppings, and even then, they still load it many times. Just a tip if you're not familiar with this location. My only reason for dropping a few stars is not for this CAVA location in particular, but the online system doesn't include all of the toppings and it doesn't let you choose the supergreens or splendid-greens like you can in-person. Would be nice if the online ordering system could be updated to reflect and match the menu of the location (including all of the toppings available). Or they could at least add a "notes" field where you could communicate specifications to your order (i.e. the toppings that are not included on the online menu) read more

I love that this location opened up so close to our office building; it was so hard to be able to make it the Kentlands and back in a short period of time. Because the parking is always full and the lines have been really long at lunch (the parking situation is the reason for the 4 stars), we use the app to order our meals for pick-up. The app remembers your history so you can re-order meals which is very nice. I read another review that mentioned inconsistency in their orders; until this last week I really haven't experienced that but this time I did. I get the splendid greens with chicken and there was a very limited amount of greens, so little I thought maybe they forgot them. I love the quality and flavors of Cava take-out, but I avoid this location even though it is the most convenient for me because the customer service is significantly below that of the other locations I have visited, including those in Gaithersburg, south Rockville, and Cabin John. Yum..Yum. This was my first time at CAVA and the food was awesome. I got a half salad half rice bowl with half lamb meatballs and half grilled chicken and lots of yummy toppings. The lamb was flavorful but a little to much of a flavor I couldn't place (maybe lemon). The hummus and crazy feta were my favorite spreads. I didn't even need any dressing. Although, I had ordered the lemon herb vinaigrette and Greek vinaigrette which I tried and they were both equally delish. They also have these very interesting teas and lemonades. This location was very crowded on a Friday at lunch but luckily I ordered via the app. FYI...you just grab your food. Also there is no parking...well there is but it is very limited. Lots of people were parked in the CVS parking lot. So I suggest you order ahead and maybe bring a buddy so you don't have to park. This will definitely be a new lunchtime regular! read more

It pains me to not give any CAVA restaurant 5 stars, honestly because I could eat it every single day for the rest of my life. If you've never been to a CAVA, you need to go! They're food is fresh, locally sourced, and delicious. It's like a Chipotle set up, but so so much better. My recommendations that stand out are the lamb or chicken, and the Greek vinaigrette. A perk of this place (and where that missing star will be coming in) is free mini pitas! BEWARE, if you order through the app and select to have your free mini pita, or extra dressing CHECK YOUR BAG. 3 visits in a row, I did not have the pita that I ordered and I have never been given 2 dressings that I ordered. And each time, the service when I requested it after they had forgotten it was very sub par. I've felt as though I'm disturbing the employees and inconveniencing them after they had not completed my order correctly. I'm SUPER upset right now! I LOVE CAVA but I fucking cannot with this location. I normally order while at work from the Chinatown location and have been to this one maybe three times total as it is convenient on the way home. I was literally craving for this ALL DAY (I'm pregnant). I just got settled in at home, in my bed to eat. I'm not even half way through the damn salad, and I feel something stringy in my teeth after biting into one of the beef meatballs. I pull what's left out of my mouth and find a fucking piece of hair that had been cooked into the meatball!!!! You can tell because what was left of the meatball is STILL hanging off of this long dark piece of HAIR. Do people NOT cook with hairnets?! I LITERALLY almost threw up after realizing what it was. I just want to cry. Swear I just wanted a nice healthy flavorful meal and now I'm going to sleep hungry AND disgusted. I won't be going back to this location. Smh. I've never once had a bad experience with cava. My bowls always come out amazing every time. Ever since the pandemic started I've ordered curbside pick up through the app and have never had a problem with it. This time around my bowl was completely ruined. I ordered spinach and instead got arugula which made my bowl really bitter. I asked for 2 scoops of tzatziki and 1 harissa and didn't get ANY of them. How do you miss one of the main toppings of Cava?!!! I also asked for half chicken half falafel and only got chicken when I had paid extra for the falafel. My whole bowl was absolutely ruined and couldn't even eat it. They also had forgotten a few toppings on my moms order as well. When I called the store to tell them what happened they seemed annoyed and didn't even apologize. I was already at home and don't live that close to this location so there was nothing I could do. The food was good (as always), and the servers were friendly. We were surprised by the odd traffic flow. The two of us (and about 80% of the folks who arrived during our visit) had to "swim upstream" to start to place our order. It seems that either: * The door could be moved to another wall; * An arrow indicating traffic flow could be painted on the floor; or, most easily * A "Welcome to Cava! Cava is officially up the street from my house and I can't be more happy! Location was a bit confusing to get to but it's right next to the new CVS. What makes Cava different from other fast casual chains is the super fresh and flavorful Mediterranean inspired ingredients! It's interesting to see Cava in it's own store as opposed to in a mall or shopping center.. It's clean, and the staff is accommodating. My go to is the brown rice bowl with half chicken & half falafel with roasted veggies. If you haven't tried the crazy feta dip - GET IT. It adds the perfect amount of heat and who doesn't love feta cheese? The Lemon tahini sauce is the perfect finishing touch on my bowl and I will never go without it! read more

I came here 2 weeks ago and it makes sense why this location has lower ratings than others on yelp. They don't give a lot of portions here. A lady gave me 1 scoop of rice and it wasn't even filled up so I asked her for more and she just looked irritated. The manager hired the most unfriendliest women. I realized there were no male staff working only women on site . Women staff weren't friendly at all. No smile, nothing. Once I got home I was curious to why My bowl cost around 12$ because usually it cost 11.. she charged me extra for dippings that I didn't order and extra for protein. I only got 3 dippings because she told me it's extra if I want another dipping, but she charged me extra for a dipping I never got. That to me is so incompetent and money thirsty. Why charge me 75 cents for something I didn't get? She tried to take my money I guess because I'm a "minority". This is not a good location..I suggest going to Bethesda or Kentlands. read more

The lentils were hard, crunchy, and undercooked, and the chicken tasted so different and not as good as the Kentlands location. Hopefully this was just an off night. I will try again. Not a great lunch for a few reasons. 1) Tzatziki sauce at end was put on way to heavy. The lettuce was swimming in the sauce. Next time, I'll ask for it on the side. 2) I chose not to get any "protein". So why was I charged the same amount. My bowl with no rice and no meat was the same price as the bowl my dining partner had, but hers had way more stuff in it. Someone told me that their secret at Cava is to order a child's portion. 3) The inside is very, very noisy with all that concrete, open ceiling and hard surfaces. Just not a very comfortable place to dine. 4) Parking sucks. If the few spaces out front are full, you either have to Park at Mom's grocery across the street, or venture back into the street to re-enter the parking lot and circle it again, hoping to snag a space in the back. read more

I've ordered from this location before and always had a good experience. Yesterday they proved themselves above and beyond what would be expected. Last night I arrived to pick up my online order and didn't see it on the pickup shelf. The staff hurried to try and locate it, checking for the order in the system, etc - and ultimately I realized I'd inadvertently ordered from a different Rockville location. The staff was very sweet and sympathetic, I started to leave and the manager called me back. She asked how many meals were in my order (2) and then said they'd make them for me. In no way did I expect this, it was my mistake - I was caught off guard and very grateful (dinner was for my daughter and myself, I was on my way to pick her up and would have been late if I had to trek to the other location). On a rainy night after a long work week, this seemingly small gesture was so appreciated. I'm not a frequent reviewer but felt compelled to share and commend them for their excellent customer service. This is the worst Cava in the Rockville area. The food is good but there is almost always a problem with the service. Usually the people who are toward the rice/salad section of the line are friendly but the people who work toward the register/dressing end are extremely rude, and I'm not sure why. Today I was one of only two people in line and said hi to the girl who was adding my toppings and she was extremely short with me and very rude. It was like she was annoyed at me for being there. I've also been to this location to pick up online orders and they are never on time. When I asked about it the last time, the cashier waved me off and ignored me. The people toward the end of the line/cashier area need customer service training or just they need to just not work here at all. I avoid coming here at basically all costs, unless I'm starving on my way home from work, since it's closest. Otherwise, avoid it. The Kentlands and Rockville Pike locations have MUCH friendlier workers and better service. read more

In general, I love Cava. Food is great, and I'll gladly continue to order. Just not from this location. I went through the line and when I got to the end (skipping the brown romaine lettuce), I asked for the saracha dressing. The girl proceeds to empty half a tube of the tziki dressing on my bowl. When I said no, the saracha, she says sorry over and over again as she dumps another half tube of saracha on top of the already drenched bowl. No offer to remake. Just pushed my bowl to the cashier. Pressed for time, with bowls backing up behind me, I just say leave it open and I'll scrape the dressing off. I tell the cashier I have a 3 dollar off on the app. He scans and charges me the full amount. No $3 off. He just shrugs and says it looks like it charged you full price. Again, pressed for time I decided not to argue over $3. Again, this won't stop me from getting Cava. I'll just drive an extra 10 mins to get it from another store.
