Do not use Uber eats to order from this place. They overcharge & if you cancel they still charge you. I accidentally ordered from this place cancelled within 1 minute was charged 17 dollars for a skinny sandwich. That was never delivered. Honestly questioning their business ethics & partnerships. Anyone who goes to the Potbelly in RIO or maybe any of them in MD., needs to read this. I was told by that store that due to a sale of the franchise in the state, they aren't honoring gift cards. The gentleman at the store said maybe they'd know if the could honor them down the road. I emailed potbelly and called their main office and no answer from either. We consistently buy gift cards at Costco and can't use them and have no perks on our account anymore?! NO! Someone needs to get this straightened out. It's brand new, replacing Ricky's Rice Bowl, where Panera Bread, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Chuck E Cheese is. Today they had an acoustic guitarist singing songs. I am surprised at all the bad reviews. They look legit tho and come with pics to back it up. I go there once a month or so to work and get some food. I like that it has genuine hyper-local heritage on the walls, a little mini library of random books and that it usually isn't crowded. Most customers do pickup for lunch. I will sit and do work for hours and then eat and then do some more work. I never noticed anything wrong with their sandwiches - but haha now I'll probably second guess it. It's hard to go wrong with Potbelly - the sandwiches and taste are consistent no matter which location you go to. This location needs some work, though. After I ordered my sandwich and was waiting for it to toast, I looked at the counter and noticed how disgusting it was. It was dusty and covered in who knows what else - if that's how the visible part of the restaurant is I'd hate to know what the back food prep area looks like. I debated walking out then and there, but decided I'd stay. When they were putting the fixings on my sandwich I noticed that the tomatoes didn't look great. When I sat down and took a few bites. The tomatoes were noticeably bad, so I fished them out. They really should have said they didn't have tomatoes rather than serve the mush they tried to pass off as tomato. I have seen Potbelly's in many locations while traveling for work, but this was the first time I stopped in one to give it a whirl. (I was tired of the standard Subway/Panera stops I usually lean towards while working) Not in love with the experience. Not hating the experience. I ordered a Mushroom Melt on flats. It was small. I wasn't satisfied per se, but for lunch it did the trick I guess. The places wasn't overly clean or orderly either, but some school kids had just come through so perhaps it was due to that? Originally being from Philadelphia we do like our Italian hoagies. Leaving Maryland to return to California we decided to stop here for lunch today. The guy who started our order gave us the wrong meat, and didn't give us double meat like we asked. When he redid our sandwhich AGAIN he doesn't do double meat. Time to train or retrain some people. Three times I have ordered the meatball sandwich and twice there has been virtually no marinara on it. They literally just picked up the meatballs and plopped them onto the bread with no sauce. That's a crucial addition that is missing! So naturally as a result my sandwich was DRY! It's like ordering a Big Mac and it doesn't have the Big Mac sauce! Have they eaten or even seen a meatball sandwich ever in life?! They always come with marinara sauce! I stopped in at a Potbelly in downtown DC last week and while the same friendly service, I did notice the prices had gone up. I'm not typically a sandwich person (a hot one from Potbelly IS one I will eat) so I don't know if the new price is still a great value. I figured I'd do some price comparison before going back but we found ourselves in the Gaithersburg shopping area this week in need of lunch and my Dad said yes to Potbelly so in we went. Let me say, it was a WONDERFUL experience! It was lunchtime and it was busy but line was manageable and moved along. After I ordered, it was one of those monsoon cold days and I really wanted their chili (it's 5 star alone), I noticed the menu had a "combo" deal. I thought it was too late but the employee was so nice and so kind and said Not a Problem and took the amended order back to the front of their factory-like line to make me happy. That would have been enough. But that wasn't all. Something I love about Potbelly (and look for when dining out) is Consistency. Honestly, it felt like the sandwiches at this location were Better. My Dad said "you know, this sandwich (ordered the exact same way) is bigger than the one at Rockville courthouse the other day." Not just the size but the layering of ingredients. Unfortunately, I'm giving pot belly 2 stars. I havent been to pot belly in years . So I said let me order a sub. I was craving sandwiches so I stopped by. A man asked me if I wanted a pick your pair. Pick your pair includes just 6 inch and cup of soup it doesnt come with chips or drink. A pick your pair is 8.30$ . Personally, I dont think it's worth it. I wasnt feeling pick your pair because I know it will not make me full. Therefore, I chose a bigger size for tuna sandwich including a combo. The combo includes only a bag of chips and drink. They dont include a dill pickle with your combo, you have to pay extra for. It isnt like firehouse subs where they give you pickle with every sub purchase. My order w was the tuna sandwich but it was so dry because they dont have many toppings on their selection. Their subs are small to me personally. Also, their sweet tea was gross. It tasted " old" and unsweetened. I had to throw it out. Fountain beverages are all soda and lemonade. I wont be back . Also, not sure how long gaithersburg potbelly will be in bussiness. This potbelly location is just not...it. Every time I go to this location there is ALWAYS something wrong with my order. Either my sub is extremely cold by the time I get home, I don't have the salad dressing that I asked for, the bread that I receive is old or doesn't toast well, my order is wrong by the time I check at home....or just SOMETHING is off, always. It's to the point that my sub will be so off it doesn't even taste like potbelly. Like right now for example...why does my uptown salad have cucumbers in it??? If I didn't know how good potbelly orders are SUPPOSED to be, I wouldn't want to try them again. After today I think I will be traveling to the RIO anytime I have a potbelly craving. This is my new favorite Potbelly location! My friends and I have waited for their opening day and it has finally come. They had a great Grand Opening and donated money to the local high school. Great service and the food is awesome! I work in the shopping center and they move people through so quickly that I can have a brown bag lunch of restaurant quality in no time. Their milkshakes are phenomenal and come with a little decorative cookie on top. The bathrooms are clean. This place is a great choice for any meal and any group size. I ordered a BLT. I could not see what the guy put on the sub. A blt should have Bacon, lettuce, and tomato right? Not at the Potbelly's. I could see later that they hadn't put any Mayo. Every Potbelly's I've been to has been a different experience(good and bad) but this new location has been fantastic and very promising in terms of consistency every time I've been which is why I'm taking the time to review this spot. Sandwich size was the same here as they were at all the other locations I've been to so I can't tell you anything more about that and I always get the "bigs" and have never left unsatisfied. They don't skimp on toppings, I get a few extra things on my sandwiches and trust me, they put extra on there. The place has always been clean. I've never waited extraordinarily long for my food. The staff there is very friendly and courteous. Have no complaints at all about this place and I am happy to know that when I want Potbelly's I can come here and leave satisfied.
